Then one day, a brave girl appeared, determined to play the finest course in the world. Armed only with her golf club, she would set forth to play the nine legendary holes. But first, she would need to rid the land of the monsters...

Does not fully support controllers, despite rebindable keys. Couldn't navigate menus or aim golf ball. Text boxes are even too small for the few words they contain.
I was super interested in this game knowing the intent behind it being a golfing RPG game, heck no this ain't nothing on those mix of genre's.
Dev should feel appalled to release this, simply put it feels like an amateur's attempt to a gameboy advance game, whilst also having more bugs than my nan's grave.
I also can't believe this Dev has released a sequel for a ludicrous price, hell no, don't give a penny to this team - they don't know what they're doing or what works within the genre's they're apparently interested in.
This game is not a Mario Golf RPG replacement, it's a poor-man's drug replacement whilst reinforcing why the drug-addict is still intent on taking those same drugs. It'll only reinforce their problem, it couldn't even touch the sides on taking them away from the crack they want, they'll only want more crack whilst bemoaning how bad this was as a replacement.

Fun golf game that made me chuckle a few times. I died a few times because the bosses were a little funky. Feels satisfying to sink the ball in the hole. I'm not a big sports person so I don't know the terms but this game managed to hold me over. It had fun boss fights. Fighting is a little easy with the spin attack but I still died a few times. Bosses were fun, golfing was challenging, and I hear there's post game content so like, what's not to like.
Its fine. Its a simple hack and slash with very simple golf elements. It doesn't really do much exciting outside of combing 2 things that are typically not combined. While I really enjoy both of those game types, I have a hard time recommending it because of the frequent bugs I've encountered using controller (PS5 plugged in via USB port). Often aiming a shot is very difficult and sometimes on a game over the game will not let me select an option even if I switch back to keyboard forcing me to close the application to fix it.
Never finished Golf Story on Switch - got bored a little ways into it and while this game is definitely jankier, somehow I liked it much more and finished everything. The golf is standard for golf games, but the cool part is you have to run to your ball and kill enemies along the way. There's dungeons too with a mix of combat and golf challenges. Could do with a much smaller map but the zoom feature lets you see the entire screen and scroll around which helps.
cool idea, but not well executed. hopefully, someone expands on the concept someday.
It's... just not that fun. Better to go back and replay the classic nintendo games than pay $4 for this.
Simple fun little action RPG game, that made me remember of the snes zelda game.
I love this game. You get to go around as a cute little girl whacking things and playing golf. What more could you want? There are any cute looking things to kill with your club including some bosses who will reward you with useful items for removing obstacles on the course.
Golfing is easy once you figure out your health has to be high in order to hit further.
The graphics remind me of stardew valley, another awesome game. Nice and relaxing.
I found the controls to work really smoothly both on keyboard and xbox controller.
I would love for this to come on the Switch.
Absolutely do not touch that game. I thought I'd love it, as I'm a big golf games fan and that I love experimental games (and even moreso games that mix 2 unlikely genres), but this one just does it bad all-around.
Most of the game consists of a very dull action-rpg where you fight monsters with a golf club. There's nothing imaginative neither in the enemies nor in the fighting system.
Sometimes, you do have to play golf. There might be enemies in your way, and you just have to get rid of them before going on with playing your game of golf. There's nothing to praise there either. There's usually just one hole per zone, so those phases are pretty short compared to the rest of the game.
They only good thing about this game is the clever title.

I enjoyed my time with this game. I wasnt too familar with the rules of Golf before playing this but the Golfing is pretty simplistic. I liked the way the charcter stats affect your golf game. it plays like an action RPG. there are some secrets to be found I found a few of them but I suspect not all of them. I bought this for 1.50 USD during the summer sale and having played it Id happily pay more for it.
It's a pretty simple and easy mobile port which doesn't end up being very fun. They attempted, here and there, to make it less apparent that it was made for phones first, but they don't do it very well. It does have controller support, but they only ever display keyboard controls. The controller still works just fine though.
Combat isn't really engaging and is tremendously inconsistent with regards to hit boxes, which lead to me getting hit a lot more than I ever should have. The golfing element is slightly more fun, but still not really difficult after you get used to it and get a few levels. The graphics are nice, if rather generic by and large, and the music/SFX top out at around mediocre.
I got this for $1, got about an hour of gameplay before I got bored, and I honestly overpaid. Avoid it entirely. There are better RPGs, better golf games, and better values on Steam.
Controls are TERRIBLE with no indication of how to navigate the menu or the game until you figure out how to get to tutorial
Decided to have a go at it since it wasn't expensive. Disappointed. I found the actual "Golf" aspect of it to be far too easy, eagling 2 of the first 3 holes and birding the other. Where is my RPG in that? The RPG element was more of a Zelda style top down combat, but with horrible combat controls, moves which were all but impossible to avoid, and no simple way to block (you have to time your golf swing with their attack to block it, and there is no doding.
On top of all this the keys are mapped poorly, and there is no indication of which keys to use to even start the game. For future reference, use the arrow keys. Z = action or attack, X = magic or cancel, C = character screen, D = Map. I couldn't even start a new game without randomly hitting keys.
Wont be playing this game again after dying to the frog.
This is a cute little RPG that combines monster-fighting with golf. Which is... interesting on its own merits. A bit tricky at times, but fun.
Would recommend.
Short, simple and funny game for a few hours.
Nice combination of ARPG (on a rather simple approach) and golf (on a rather simple approach as well). An small world to explore, full of monsters (that lack on variety very fast), a few dungeons (most of them with the same background) with a few golf challenges on them, and 9 holes that become 18 after you reduce your handicap enough (9 holes and 9 variations, different enough to make them a nice challenge).
However, the combat is very easy (the charge attack is too powerfull against almost everything and to cheap to use) even if the bosses offer a nice change, where you have to learn their patterns to avoid them and hit when they are vulnerable (during the full game, and even the postgame, I died only once). The golf part is also easy once you get a few shots to see how it works (where to aim, how much power to use...), as you will be always shooting where you are aiming quite effortless.
Still, while it last, is fun to play.
Some notes and tips:
Level up strengh more than the rest: there is level cap (level 42, quite random) and you may realise you can't lower your scores just because you can't shoot far away enough. I managed to get a handicap of 5 and is as low as I can go (also, you can't re-spec [DEVS, this would be rather usefull].
Don't worry about money: if you battle through the encounters you normally find, you will always have enough money for plenty of items and the new clubs.
Beating the game is not the end: you can unlock a few additional dungeons, up to 6 new clubs (including the ultimate club and one club that completely trivialize the combat) and, if you lower your handicap enough, you get the alternate version of the 9 holes.
RPGolf is a game that embarks on the treacherous journey of combining together two completely unrelated genres and in my opinion it succeeds. In this case the genres are retro almost zelda-esque action RPG and 2D top down golf game. Both of these core elements function fairly well (although some of the hit boxes of the enemies seemed a bit misleading) and each provides a nice break from the other. These genres also merge surprisingly seamlessly with each other with the gameplay loop of make a stroke then get your to ball by fighting through enemies just feeling natural. To top things off RPGolf wraps the whole package with a healthy dose of charm. Overall while probably not the best golf game you can purchase nor the best action RPG it is nonetheless a very compelling package that ties together both of these genres in a manner whereby each genre complements the other very well.
