While some improvements of the visuals could be made, I really enjoy the experience this visualizer provides overall. Keep coming back to it. I've now bought the in-game DLC's as well and there are some real bangers in there. Highly recommended!
I may end up changing this review later but as it stands now, I am unable to download the packs that I paid for
Visualizers are low quality. Low programming skill. Better to just watch a youtube video of the old Winamp visualizer.
The only good thing is this being in VR but the included visualizers are low quality and there's an IAP to be able to see the rest.
This really and truly is a spectacular visualizer, one of the best I've experienced. If you can, definitely experience this in VR. It's worth it.
Honestly, I was reluctant to buy this, because it looked extremely underwhelming in the previews, but it exceeded my expectations in every way when I actually played it.
The only feature I wish there was, however, was the ability to edit certain patterns to your liking (for example, things like the color sequences in modes like Aztek, the "noodle" density in swarm, and background colors)
We need access to the store for the DLC visualizer packs etc. The store will not work after the game updates. Seems the only way to fix that is remove this game from the library and redownload and then immediately go into STEAM library settings for the Mirage app and uncheck the "automatically download updates" box. The store should stay functional so that purchases can be made. Then update after the dlc is purchased/unlocked.
Exactly what I was looking for.
I'm currently using this in conjunction with an exercise bike. Hop on, put on your music, and workout to a selection of beautiful and immersive atmospheres that react to your music.
I only wish there were more scenes. A way to connect a bluetooth cadence sensor for a workout machine would also be an incredible addition to this. Imagine your stationary bike actually allowing you to pedal forward and move through these environments all while listening to your music. Turning this into a fully fledged fitness app + standalone music visualizer would be a worthwhile investment IMO.
In any case, if this sounds like something you might use it for I totally recommend trying it out. I've never felt so motivated to stay on that bike.
Let's just make this clear so there is no confusion: this is not a game or an interactive experience. It is just a music visualizer and nothing more. That is not a bad thing, however, as it does its job well. I've tried several music visualizers for VR and the others either didn't let you play your own music, only let you select one song at a time instead of a directory or playlist, or simply didn't work at all. So far, I have had no issues with this one.
Just start playing music (I used Windows Media Player), then load the program. The included visualizations and the ones in the free add-on pack are pretty good for the most part. You can clearly see them reacting to the music, too. I'm not sure if I want to buy the paid add-on packs, though. It would be nice if there was some kind of preview or even just screenshots of what is in them.
If all you are looking for is a simple music visualizer for VR, then I definitely recommend this program.
It's alright, nothing too over the top but just enough to wet your appetite. I liked about 6 visuals effects total out of all the ones received by default and the free in-app addon pack. I noticed two additional expansion packs were available for purchase but I'll consider that later.
Not much to it really, play your music on your computer and when you launch the MIRAGE VR app it will detect your music playback and display visuals effects you can transition between automatically or manually at your leisure. What it really comes down to is the music you play. That will either make or break your experience based on your personal taste.
Works fine on my Lenovo Explorer VR headset.
Decent effects, but you probably want to buy the DLC expansions so it doesn't get too repetitive. Can also run in desktop mode, so you can have your music player or other windows on top.
I enjoyed this in VR.
It will be great to use it at my next party on the TV.
My only suggestion that would make the app better is to make the visuals change when the songs change. That would make this app go pretty good to pretty damn good.
This is okay. If I was giving it stars it would probably be 3 out of 5. The reason for this is the limited number of visualizations before you have to pay. I think the publisher could stretch the effects if they allowed multiple effects to run at the same time.
SUMMARY: A great way to turn any music (or sound) on your computer into various patterns and displays. If you have a media system or want to run a nice sureeal background and some music on a TV, it's perfect. Plus there's downloadable expansions!
MIRAGE is essentially "music screensaver plus," but the words don't quite do it justice. It takes ANY sound on your computer and turns it into one of many abstract, colorful, or psychedelic displays. You can also choose a vareity of settings to switch it up, rotate it, or stay with one display you like.
Best of all, if you really need more, there's several downloadable style packs to add even more kinds of displays.
Of course this isn't for everyone. I use it on my media/gaming system to create abstract and colorful backgrounds when I write or when we need something ambient and low-key for a party. You could also plug a computer running it into a TV or projector to set the mood or provide a nice background for an event.
Who's it for? Well, the review pretty much tells you! Sure, it's not for everyone, but if you like those kind of "atmospheric audio background" you found a great source.
Absolutely fantastic. Suggestions? Make it interactive. Gimme fireworks to shoot off. gimme glow sticks lemme draw stuff in mid air. Give the user something to do while watching the cool visuals. I also bought all the dlc. Keep it coming please. And try to add some more stuff beside colors on black backgrounds. Keep it up. Oh also one more thing the swarm visualization is probably one of the most interesting concepts and I would definitely suggest making more of those. Seeing the little worms flying past your head moving to the music is insane. Try listening to Venetian Snares Szamar Madar while swarm is on.
This is the best experience with a VR visualizer I've found. The visualizations are distinct and have their own fade in/out to make the transitions flow nicely. The way each one represnts the music has layers that really send you on a trip. The program worked flawlessly on WMR and just dove right in with minimal effort.
The menu didn't work with a controller. I think it wanted me to use wands, which I don't have. But you can just launch it from desktop and do your menu tinkering there, as there didn't seem to be anything that required menu access. Except for my biggest complaint: a "visit the menu" promt popped up in view some time into the album I was listening to. It went away quickly and didn't return for some time so I fuigured a menu reminder (and one that promises more free visualizations) is nice, its classy. But then it came back at the start of every visualization from there out. A little bit of a trip breaker and not classy at all. Sell me more stuff, that's great, but don't nag me about it.
Some more suggestions to devs: a few more options such as the program listening for quiet pausses in the music and swapping visualizations there would be great. Also, get your DLC in the base steam store, not just within the app. I'm more likely to buy extra visuals outside of the VR headset.
All that said, this is great stuff.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality

I owned the free to play version of this game. I decided to just go ahead and buy the game to support the devs. This is a good VR music visualizer. Some visualizations are better than others, but in general, they are all of good quality. Some just seem to flow better with music though.
My only real criticism, is that I wish it were easier to play your own music from within the app, rather than you have playing it in the background. YouTube integration would have been awesome. Or at least an easy way to play our own music.
Warning though: there is in-app purchases and they do NOT come with your purchase of this game. You have to buy the DLC separately if you want those particular visualizers. However, you do not need to buy them and what's included in-game is pretty awesome as is. I might buy some DLC to support the devs even more.
Rate 8/10. Highly recommend this one. I would put it in my top 3 VR music visualizers.
