Rocksmith® 2014 Edition REMASTERED LEARN & PLAY

This is one of the best tools out there that I have found for learning guitar and I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years now and I still come back to it for lots of fun playing songs and learning to play with a full band with the session mode. I also love the community that is still behind this game with modding/tracking new songs. Thank you to everyone that made the game and the people that play it and keep it alive and fun to this day!

This game is so fun! I severely wish more songs were available. Playing both electric and bass guitars on this game make just about every song worth the DLC price. Learning new chords and techniques is always a good time, and riff repeater makes it so nice!

Absolute trash. Nothing works with this game. Ive had to use mods and hours of research to get anything to work with this and even then, it non stop issues. DO NOT BUY. DLC store does work so you have to use a 3rd party site to download songs. Real Tone Cable doesnt work, so you have to use a mod to get it to work. TRASH game. Ubisoft should be ashamed they released this in the absolute trash state its in

Great for experienced players or beginners. A huge library of tracks to play along to without the inconvenience of messing around with amp settings. Definitely a buy.

Game will legitimately not function or even launch if you have too many sound devices or too new of a CPU.

If you use Elgato Wave Link, don't even bother buying the game you won't be able to play it.

A game from 2014 held together with tape and tears of guitarists trying to get their gear to work with it.

kinda impossible to setup if you dont have a realtone cable and a wired headset. Otherwise you have to download mods that might fix your issue but youre gonna give yourself a massive headache and maybe destroy your guitar in frustration.

both the game and the cable it uses are dogshit and barely work half the time

fun video game style way of learning guitar, its best to have some familiarization with a guitar, it does just throw you right into learning, i wish they had hour dailys and something for you to practice when not playing the game, the lessons are souly on you to learn and you can pick what lessons you wish from string bending to cords, i do wish it was more of a class style heres todays lesson for the next hour, practice this for tomorrows lesson.

Good game for practicing with the song but learn as well but you can learn from youtube and other media fast and play this game for fun. this is super fun.

Ubisoft bringing this game back onto the market with an update has broken the game. Songs last for maybe halfway through before hard crashing steam and/or my pc. At this point, I am looking forward to the day when Ubisoft shuts it doors forever. Fuck their executives and their greed. The only reason they brought this game back was to nuke it to force players to join their shitty new "Rocksmith+". Do not buy this game. Do not buy Rocksmith+. Do not buy Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft constant failures for the past few years is finally catching up to them.

I can not get this game to work well at all. There is a horrible audio delay that makes the game unplayable. I tried so many different things to make it work and its just impossible

You can use custom songs with this, which makes it GOAT. It’s not without its problems, but everything can be fixed thanks to the amazing community behind the game.

Scarlett Solo 4th Gen works perfectly with no latency.

Worth the price if you know about CustomsForge for songs, otherwise it's real basic with no music worth playing.

Do not bother with this game.
All the songs in the base game leaving only the notecracker dlc leaving only a empty shell of what it was once was.

Definitely the best software and amazing way to learn guitar, however the UI and navigation are horrible.

This games held together with sawdust and spit. you got too many sound devices? cant play it, too many CPU cores? cant play it. I shouldn't have to download a community fix after buying the game, which didn't work either.
Only thing i LEARNed was that this games shit. AND the only thing i PLAYed was the white screen before it eventually closed.
do not buy this game, you will not get it to work.

iI had this game for years.. got extra songs.. now out of no were i cant play it... it crashes after 5 seconds... dont buy

TONS of issues. Huge potential wasted, but still fun. Basically a virtual amp with a game attached and a bunch of neat practice features.

Negatives:
Tuner forces you through it without actually getting the guitar in tune so it's just another button press to skip after actually tuning it yourself if you want something playable.
Program freezes after about an hour requiring a force close.
Half the DLC doesn't work and the ones that do don't always. Mods allow you to play a lot more songs but Ubisoft has their mits in the modding scene so good luck getting a REAL version of anything they've put BAD versions of into DLC.
Ubisoft keeps updating it just to make it worse. Probably to force you into their "Own nothing and be happy" subscription version they replaced it with.
Doesn't have real tabs, chord charts, or sheet music, just their weird floating thing that's HARD to read and get a feel for timing of any kind.
Sets all your input volumes at 17% and then adds a bunch of gain to the guitar to compensate which is really stupid and creates poor sound quality by default. You can disable the autogain and set it how you want, but your mic will still be inaudible unless you tab out to turn it back up, and if you plan to actually use your mic for any communication on your PC, like other games, Steam chat, Discord, or whatever new stupid version of Skype your business is on these days, you'll have to turn it back up EVERY TIME YOU BOOT THE GAME (unless your mic is overpowered to begin with I guess.)
Half the time it just straight up breaks your audio for everything but itself until you reboot the PC.
LOTS of latency by default, but if you have a good CPU, you can remove most of it.
Starting with a single note per minute and adding in notes as you go is REALLY boring and silly if you have any musical ability at all. It's much better to turn off their advancement/punishment and just use the acceleration mode of riff repeater on the hard parts. Speed is a byproduct of accuracy. If you try to look at it the other way you'll never sound good.

Positives:
The jam mode is kinda cool.
It has some little practice games that are kinda a good idea.
There are a FEW good songs from different genres in the default lineup.
If you know what you're doing with PC audio you can make it decent, but note detection is still awful sometimes because of the way it handles volumes and gains.
Honestly it's a REALLY GOOD AMP sim for the price if you set up the gains right and are able to turn the audio latency down enough. That's about the only reason it gets a thumbsup from me, even if it does say Ubisoft and potentially make them money.

I remember it working... But now, it is impossible to set up right, I either have some horrid input latency, or it doesn't work at all. Tried the RS asio that's recommended, but instructions are vague. I even purchased the rocksmith cable for it, and it still doesn't work right.

Some people report they have it working, but I don't think you should tinker, edit .ini files and browse logs, and browse forums without end to make a game playable as intended after paying for it and its' cable...

Amazing but get mods to make it way more fun and actually playable (the re-released version which I have, sucks because of the expiring licences for songs so mods are your only option

Much better than Rocksmith + that has a subscription model. This has a better interface and is much better local multiplayer.
This is why they brought it back and they really dropped the ball on the Rocksmith+ that they are trying to say is better, it is inferior in just about every way.

Definitely recommend it, the lessons are good, the guitarcade is fun and CDLC is endless. The learn to play ":songs" are definitely worth your time too. A good utility to aid in improving at guitar.

Greedy ass company who broke their game on purpose. Nobody wants to get the new one you idiots. Game is completely broken now and crashes on launch everytime

I own the original but wanted it on my steam account. as of 1/30/25, the game crashes and every time I try and play it which in the end makes it completely unplayable. Don't buy it unless you want to contact steam for a refund.

Don't get the new one. Get this one. This is the real deal. It gets you to play guitar. A great complement along with a teacher or self-taught. Just don't rely only on this and you'll be golden.

Great learning tool. This version doesn't have any songs so you'll have to load your own, either buy DLC songs or look up customforge CDLC for fan made ones. If you don't have the old usb to guitar cable for it you can use an audio interface like a Focusrite but it needs a mod to recognize it. Overall it's fun to use but takes a bit of setup work because the publisher didn't include songs.

I wanted this game bad for long they can make it better with something like this adding more instruments but me and my favorite instrument guitar playing death metal is fire.

An amazing practice tool for learning songs and scales, as well as some techniques shown through in game videos.

Cannot launch, no current fix, have tried everything. Sad considering how many hours I have in it. Don't even waste your time, it's broken.

idk why this game is getting mixed reviews recently. as someone new to the series, its good to practice and learn (coming from someone who hasnt played in nearly a decade).
if youre a beginner and dont mind splashing for an rtc cable, get it!!

game is broken big time, cries about pretty much everything. too many sound output devices? cant play, have a wireless headset? fuck you, you cant play this game, dont want to install 50 mods to even be able to play the game properly? well too bad, thats exactly what you have to do to get the game to launch. what was ubisoft smoking during this? dont get me wrong, its a great game, atleast ive heard it is, but if you dont want to spend an entire day troubleshooting these stupid problems, you wont be able to even launch the game

btw, u see the 1 hour of playtime? thats from me trying to fix this pos game, crashes when launching, setup/calibration broken so basically unplayable for most people. if you are lucky enough, this game will work for you without doing anything, if not, just wait for a sale for it to be less than 5 dollars, because this isnt worth anything near 10

Been having lots of issues. Bought this game and have been searching tirelessly for a solution. I use a Beacn Mix Create interface for my audio. I've tried everything I can and have a ticket open with Beacn as well because this game will only accept either my monitor speakers or my headphones as an output. I can't set any of my Mixers interfaces as the output even though literally everything else in my pc uses them. Also won't play audio to OBS, and everything I've tried has just failed. Audio Exclusivity is off and it still mutes focus when I click away. I can't set it manually to any interface or I just lose all sound. So far has been an incredibly frustrating experience. I haven't even been able to play anything. I have 2.7 hours of trying to just make the audio work.

Save your money, even with the real cable it takes so long to tinker and get it to sound correct without latency. On top of that you need to be logged in to Ubisoft servers. Game seems broken from the original 2014 version and unless you want to spend hours trouble shooting its better off just practicing and playing on a real guitar than this crap ubisoft put out.

I love being able to play with a real bass and guitar compared to the plastic ones from previous music games. I just wish this version also had the ability to do piano and drums

It was a great game, but as of 2025, it does not fit on the screen. I can't get past the login because you have to connect to the server. No hope of adjusting the resolution then. Maybe I want to play this game in the woods away from wifi, because I have a laptop. Mobile computers are joke with these forced internet connections. Alas, even with wifi it does not work. Wasted almost 300 bucks on a case to bring my guitar and a replacement realtone cord just for the game to take a sh!t because Ubisoft treats the "good" paying customers like garbage. I should have been a pirate.

This game is SOOOOOO buggy, BUT, when it works it WORKS.
I played about 420 hours so far (nice) started out when I was learning, It looked like a fun game to help me learn, And it did, This game will not make you a master, Obviously you need to practice outside of the game, there are lessons in game, but personally I hate all of these.

I did NOT purchase a Rocksmith Real Tone Cable, You can use really any cable that connects your guitar with sound to PC, Im using my amp's usb port to my computer and using the NoCableLauncher plugin for the game along with CDLC.

- (You need to purchase one song [Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins] It's about 4 dollars and that will allow you to download any song from the CDLC website, Most popular songs will cost money, But there is ALOT of songs to download.


It takes a while to get working and for me...

- whenever I update my Nvidia drivers I must uninstall or disable the Nvidia HD audio or the game just will not launch.
- I also had to disable audio exclusivity on most of my sound devices or the game simply wont let me use my audio.
- I had to run the game in windowed or the game will crash.
- If I want to stream on Discord I must make the game full screen after launch or the game will freeze.
- The game almost ALWAYS has horrible note detection, Don't expect to get 100% on a song even if you've mastered it.
- I had to use the optional beta for my game to work using the code "JustInCaseWeNeedIt" Or my game wont launch.

There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to get everything working, And, if you have a problem MOST LIKELY someone has had it too and there is a fix. The only problem I had to fix myself was the Nvidia HD audio driver crashing the game.

I personally just use this game to learn songs and memorize them to play on my amp.

The game is very fun IF you can get it to work!

As it stands I cannot recommend the game, but if you think you can get it working by all means go for it, It's fun!

Game no longer launches... basically robbery

This is such a great tool.

I've dabbled a little with acoustic in the past but decided I wanted to learn bass instead because I'm better at picking than strumming. I essentially started from the beginning because even if it wasn't a different beast, my brain has a memory leak at the best of times so I had forgotten everything I learnt of acoustic years before.

If you're also a beginner, make sure you play the scale songs until you can do them by memory. It helps a lot in learning the fret and muscle memory across it.

There is a site where you can mod customs songs into the game too; I highly suggest trying Winds of Change by Scorpions if you're also playing bass. It's pretty chill yet still makes you feel awesome. That said, the dynamic difficulty very rarely works with custom songs, even if you repair them via the mod tool.

I will say that the game does tend to rush you. I'm a very slow learner and have found that at times even with the difficulty adjusted that it's all a bit fast. Plus it doesn't really show you the finger positionings/techniques properly, only from straight on so I can't tell wtf they're doing. A POV from the guitarist would be SUPER helpful but there isn't one. It's also really irritating hearing the same lines when you screw up over and over. When I get frustrated I just return to a song I'm more comfortable with; any practice is good practice.

If anyone finds they have lag like I did, make sure you dig into the start menu for the options. It's hidden away for some dumb reason. There's a lag adjustment bar and check your res is correct too. For some reason mine was set to some random res.

I cannot get past the profile loading screen - it the game keeps complaining that the ubisoft servers are unreachable and then infinitely hangs at that point. Independently installing ubisoft connect did not fix this, nor running in offline mode, nor disabling networking permissions for the game via windows firewall. Seems basically unplayable and there is no fix i can find in forums.

Game was "re-released" less than a month ago, and doesn't even fucking run! My entire +1 hour of "play time" was sitting in the damn "loading profile" screen. I've spent more than 3 hours troubleshooting this piece of shit. Don't bother right now, it's a total waste of time and money at this point in time. I'll try again at some later date to see if the situation improves.

I have tried getting this game working on 3 different computers in my music studio. Not one has any success getting things to work. The real tone cable keeps saying its not plugged in, yet it works inside of windows and can play back through my speakers. When i did get it working off and on, the sound was doubled and garbled....then it decides to not work at all again.
Yes i set both inputs and outputs to default, 16 bit 48000.
I am so disappointed with my rocksmith experience. I tried using no cable and only my interfaces(3 different interfaces) with no luck what so ever. This is complete garbage. It is hours of troubleshooting i will never get back. I have widows 10 and 11 on these computers, neither worked.

I just started learning to play bass, something I've always wanted to do but in private and this is easily the best thing ever. Lessons are nice and easy to understand and adjusts to your level as you go. If I'd known this game existed, I would've started so much sooner.

It took some fudging around but now have it working with my Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen, and having a blast. It's a great alternative to my typical practice routine.
