This is a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game, meaning a specific genre of story-driven, point & click adventures. Throughout the game, players are tasked to find a list of objects hidden within a particular scene, and to occasionally complete various mini-games/puzzles.

This third installment of the Haunted Hotel series of HO games was much better than the first two. It has plenty of traditional HO scenes that are not repetitive, the minigames here and there are challenging but not too difficult. To best follow the plot, Youtube the first HH game and read the documents while fast forwarding the scenes. Then watch the ending of the second HH game and you'll be caught up with the story. I'm looking forward to the next installment. Rating: 7/10
If you're looking for a quick and simple hidden object/adventure game, then this will scratch that itch for a bit.
It's a straightforward example of the genre and doesn't do anything special other than provide the staples of this type of game: hidden object screens with a list of items to find and some simple puzzles. Though, the story premise caught me off guard a bit and gave me a little chuckle.
I'd also recommend getting this on sale.
