The Room Three continues the tactile puzzle-solving gameplay of its predecessors while considerably expanding the world for the player to explore. Once again, Fireproof Games have re-built, re-textured and re-lit every asset and environment to bring the mysterious world of The Room to life.
In The Room Three you find yourself lured to a remote island, where you must draw upon all your puzzle-solving ability to navigate a series of trials devised by a mysterious figure known only as “The Craftsman”.
Fireproof Games are a small independent team working in Guildford in the UK. We self-published our first game The Room on iPad in September 2012 and were stunned with both the critical success and our new-found fan-base, not to mention multiple international awards. The Room games have since changed our lives and we hope you enjoy playing them as much as we enjoyed making them.

walk tuah
very tedious compared to the other games with many unintuitive points and a really obtuse puzzle while getting the additional endings. i strongly dislike a puzzle game that requires me to look something up. attempting to find the solution took an extremely long time due to the long walking transition cutscenes inside the hub area. if you're playing through the room games, whatever, it's still a good one to pick up and play and you'll probably have it from the bundle anyway, but it's easily the worst of the four.
I Really Enjoyed This Game And The Puzzles It Gives Us.
Every new addition to the Room series somehow manages to step it up. Loved the first two, and this one did not dissapoint. I admit a had a rage quit moment while trying to get the other endings; the thing where you have to move the chandelier doesnt make any sense! . But apart from that, I loved the teasing of "I can't use that now, will probably need it later" you can use it now and an actual challenge aka having to use your brain for the extra stuff.
Also great athmosphere, loved the steampunk asthetic and the engineering of all objects.
Wow! What a game! I have played both the first and second, but this one tops it - I'll first have to play game four but so far I am in awe of this series.
I got the imprisoned ending but I also have the option of completing the other endings.
100% recommend!
I LOVE THE PUZZLE SOLVING AND THE LORE EVER SINCE THE 1ST ONE!!! It's amazing to play this game and it really picks at your brain when it comes to puzzle solving. But when you really get into it, you don't want to stop ahahaha
Really good game, but the 4 different endings raised it up a notch. Very worthwhile.
A puzzle game that offers great value for money.I'm like a thief, trying to steal things in front of the screen, but it only adds some melancholy.
The Room 1 and 2 felt like practice compared to this one, which features not only many times more puzzles, but an excellent meta-puzzle that, if solved completely, allows you to enjoy four well-crafted endings. There is much more of a story too, glimpsed through letters and hidden notes; it all starts to make sense. The quality of objects and environments is amazing; the puzzles are not too hard, though one of the steps to reach the last two endings had me spend a bit too much time going around (it wasn't clear if an object was working) and I did, to my regret, use a hint. I'm looking forward to the 4th (and hoping it will be as rich, and a bit more challenging).
Awesome puzzles Hints always available Just a great game Story line not to bad either. Fun to play I feel like I'm there.
It's very short, but puzzles are tricky (especially alternate ending puzzles) and satisfying, and atmosphere is AMAZING
Bought it twice both here and on Google Play, no regrets
Recommend it 100%, even if you play it once
Honestly not much to say. If you've played the previous two games you are gonna like this just as much, if not more, and if this is the first game you are going to play in this franchise you have found the best one out of the trilogy.
I've played this on mobile already and gotten all the endings so I played through it once just to confirm it's as good as I remember.
It has kinks though. Everytime I got one piece the game froze and I had to restart the game. Each piece takes a while to get so it's not exactly a frequent problem so I never went through the trouble to find out why it is crashing. But please do keep that in mind when buying.
I'd feel bad giving this one a negative review. I played the first 2 games and this one has more story to it, way more locations and great visuals (not just the typical detailed style from the first 2 ones) BUT the puzzles feel way easier. There was not even one moment where I had to think about one. It felt more like a walking simulator.
I believe I started with the first game in this series. Liked it, and just bought all the rest.
The puzzles on this one are all fine, maybe even a little more intuitive than previously, and the hints were even occasionally helpful. Previous installments spent most of the time in a single room at a time, this one has a branching structure where there are multiple rooms in the same building, which mostly have at least one attached room, and in all those cases, you are also magically transported to a distant structure with multiple rooms that you solve before being returned. I mention this to bring up the issue that is going to make me NOT recommend this game.
There is a lot of automatic panning and spinning about, and zooming in an out in this game, that I don't recall in the previous games, or at the very least, the first game (I'll have to go check and see if I left reviews on those and what I said). At first I didn't notice, but about halfway through the game I started getting motion sickness, and I had to start closing my eyes every time it went through a transition sequence to get through the game without vomiting. I guess that squares with the vaguely Lovecraftian theme of the game. The only other thing that gives me motion sickness like this is shaky-cam "found footage" movies, and those only on the big screen.
I already bought the fourth one, so I'll eventually have to try that, and hope it is not as bad on that count. I'm not sure how they could solve it, other than to either have more static transitions (or the option for that), or better would be player controlled motion through the environment, rather than automatic move-to-point motion.
If you aren't affected by this (which I had no way of knowing before playing the game), and you like puzzle games, this will be fine for you.
One of the best puzzle and mistery games that I ever played! Please, do more games without VR :D
The game is great, just like its predecessors. The ambient sound and overall aesthetic are amazing. The only thing I didn’t like is that the animations between the rooms you move through are very slow, but aside from that, it’s really good.
The puzzles are still interesting and will make you think a bit before figuring out what to do. In the end, it’s pretty easy to complete the whole game without using a guide or anything like that.
However, if you’re aiming for 100%, you’ll need to see all the endings. If you try to do it on your own without help, it might take you a while to see them all.
Totally recommended!
They keep improving, thats a good thing, with alternate endings and more complex puzzles, I enjoyed it.
i liked it! although i still found the pure puzzle-box gameplay from the first game a more intriguing concept, this had its charm. some puzzles were a bit obtuse to me though.
This is the best puzzle game I have ever played. Everything about it is perfect from the puzzles themselves to the ambiance in the castle. I can't get enough of it, it reminds of the old Encarta encyclopedia from Windows 98 for some reason which is very nostalgic to me. In any case, this is the best puzzle game I've played so far.
Great puzzle game with thrilling action and cut-scenes, Worth your time!
"The Room Three" is a great puzzle game in which you find yourself lured to a remote island, where you must draw upon all your puzzle-solving ability to navigate a series of trials devised by a mysterious figure known only as “The Craftsman”.
The puzzles were great and i could solve them mostly alone. They were definetly a bit harder then in The Room and The Romm Two.
The Graphics and Sounds are good.
It took me 5.1 hours to finish with all achievments, there are 10 to find. Some of them arent missable.
I got it one sale for 1,49€ so it was definetly worth it!
Much in the same vein of the previous titles; well designed puzzles, pretty visuals, overall good game.
Excellent game! I'm loving learning more about the lore and this definitely makes your brain work a bit! Can't wait to play the next one too!
Another great addition. Only the optional final endings required looking up. Wish the movement through rooms was faster when trying to figure out an issue on your own.
A deceptively easy puzzle game. What do I mean by that? Well a great deal of the puzzles in this game can be completed without much thought just by clicking random buttons and twisting dials. It does get a little harder towards the end but I still found this to be way easier than the previous games. It does contain more content, with 4 different endings, but after I got the first ending I had no desire to go back and get the others because the story just isn't interesting, largely due to the fact that it is only told through letters. The first two games were the same way but I could excuse the poor stories in those games because it clearly was less of a focus and those games are just better in general.
The Room 3 might appeal to people who enjoy puzzle games but aren't good at them, but to me I just found it to be extremely boring. At least it's cheap.
Best of the first three The Room games (I have not played The Room 4). Very detailed, decently difficult but still solvable. I really like the alternative endings, and I love the journey it took to get them all. Amazing game, I really recommend.
Good puzzles just like the first two games. This was slightly less linear and allowed for multiple endings without being overly confusing. The wife and I had fun and sometimes annoyed each other yet again.
Too much backtracking and wandering between rooms, clicking everything to see if it is part of riddles or just decorations.
great game, the puzzls are nice, not hard not simple, and the multiple ending oh boy love it
Easily the best out of the room series, but all of them are great
This game is just overdone. Too many movements between areas.
Amazing game just as the previous two were. Very innovative with new types of puzzles and multiple endings. Would definitely recommend.
I've played The Room One and The Room Two, and enjoyed them both. I originally played them on my phone and was happy to find an actual GAME that is fully playable on a phone. Anyway, they are fantastic puzzle games that aren't so difficult you need a walkthrough guide (there is a time-based hint feature that does the trick), but aren't so easy you sail right through them all.
Many of the puzzles are classic puzzles you've seen in the toy store or on paper, but put into a 3D format. And the variety is fantastic - so many puzzle games are the same puzzle in varying degrees of difficulty and different colors. There is a whole range of different puzzles and the whole game/each level is a puzzle in all.
The game has a dark, eerie sort of tone, beautiful graphics, and realistic sort of sounds. It's short, but the price is appropriate for the length. HIGHLY recommend, to anyone who enjoys puzzle games.
I have loved all of The Room games! The puzzles are fun and offer a range of difficulty levels. The first two games were very linear, but this one has multiple endings that can be achieved by solving hidden puzzles. It was awesome having a new challenge after I thought the game was finished!
Love all ''The rooms'' puzzles & stories, this one too have many of them to resolve. Once finished, you can ''change your faith/destiny'' by using the artefacts found in game. :P
Hesitate because don't think the game are Lovecraftian enough. Ended up experiencing most Lovecraftian experience ever.
excellent! better than the previous ones in the sense of a broader physical adventure with rooms and puzzles linked together. it's a worthy evolution of the series to the next best thing, very well done. get it and play it, you wont regret it!
An absolutely mesmerizing puzzle box of a game that builds brilliantly on its predecessors. Each new area feels like stepping into an intricate mechanical music box filled with gears, hidden panels, and mystifying devices that beg to be manipulated. The simple touch/click interface belies the complex, multi-layered puzzles that will have you scribbling notes and muttering "aha!" at 2 AM.
The gothic Victorian atmosphere is thicker than ever - think if Jules Verne designed escape rooms in a haunted mansion. The visuals are stunning, with incredible attention to detail in every brass fitting and weathered surface. Sound design deserves special mention - each click and whir is deeply satisfying.
New to this entry are multiple endings and larger, more open areas to explore. While the core gameplay remains familiar (investigate objects, solve puzzles, uncover mysteries), the scale has expanded considerably. Some might find a few puzzles obtuse, but the "eureka" moments are worth the head-scratching.
Perfect for: Patient puzzle enthusiasts who love atmospheric games and don't mind some creepy vibes. Not for: Those seeking fast-paced action or who get frustrated easily by challenging puzzles.
A masterclass in puzzle design and atmospheric storytelling. Just remember to take breaks - your brain will need them!
Excellent game for those who enjoy puzzle games, especially those set in mystery/horror settings like the 7th Guest, 11th Hour, etc, but with a Lovecraftian twist to it.
Great puzzle design, graphics, sound design, music and atmosphere. Only downside is the rare occasion when you've been stuck for some time already and don't know what you're looking for, or where, which can be a bit frustrating at times. This can be solved with turning to a walkthrough however, so no problem.
mind-blowing game with great visuals.
I love this series of games. The ambience, the puzzles, and tinkering with shit are all up my alley. HOWEVER, my one caveat is that this game makes me incredibly nauseous and I can only play it for so long. I have never had this issue with any other game, so I wouldn’t consider myself sensitive to virtual motion, either. Checked the settings, but I’m not seeing anything that I could fiddle with to make this less of an issue.
This has challenging puzzles but clues that help; even if they appear after I solved the puzzles sometimes. I enjoyed sussing out the mental processes used in creating them! I will continue to play The Room versions as they come out. Note: I really believe this is excellent for older folks because it really gets your mind going down unexpected paths.
I fully enjoyed all The Room games. The puzzles were a perfect mix of difficulty. The graphics are amazing and I really liked the feel of the game. A bit spooky and nostalgic. I was disappointed with the 5th instalment being a VR version only. I am patiently waiting for the next one.
Sequel to the second game. The story dives much more deeper than previous games and you feel like you would be able to find the answers you seek this time. This time is different though since we are not solving puzzles room by room rather a full island in which you can move freely. There is a sub area that connects all the places and you use different items or mechanisms from different rooms time to time. There are 5 different endings to this game and you find more lore more you explore this amplifies atmosphere and feeling. Puzzles are more intricate than the previous entries. Because of that you could easily get lost or confused time to time. Quality of life problems from previous games still remain. Still a fantastic a game.
Quite a departure from the first entry, and an upgrade from the second. Probably the best of the three.
This one was bigger and better than The Room and The Room Two!
I am excited to start playing The Room Four !
I did get stumped on a few parts, but the hits were a good help most of the time, the only time i was confused with the hints was when it listed a section as a "map" but it didn't appear to be a map to me x_x.
I kept going to the map on the wall going wtf... if you know you know...
♦ 100% Completion Review ♦
Outline:
▪ The Room 3 is another series of puzzle filled rooms, with a haunting and mystical theme. Atmospheric, cryptic, and compelling. However, where this entry advances in one respect, it falls down in another.
Gameplay:
▪ It is in this category that the game feels like a step back from its predecessors. While there are still myriad interesting puzzles to complete, the overall quality of the puzzles has diminished substantially. Many of them are incredibly simple. So simple that they verge on rote busy work. Turn this crank, press that button. Some accidentally solvable, and some solvable via meta deduction not intrinsic to the puzzle design itself. Pretty disappointing.
A big issue here is that the puzzle box focus has mostly been left behind due to the now sprawling hub-based nature of the level design. While this new format bring some benefits, unfortunately much of the puzzling suffers.
Another big issue is the overall interfacing with the game world. The controls haven't changed at all, but the layers of interaction seem unnecessarily clunky in this entry. So many extra double-clicks to focus on an area of interest which don't seem necessary, and then at other times when it did seem necessary it was absent. Worse still, of all the times I was stuck on what to do, a majority of them were due to my having tried to interact with something, and nothing happening, when in fact that was the thing I needed to interact with but the interface just didn't respond as expected.
Another issue on this front is the mouse. I'm an old Counter-Strike player, so I have my mouse at a low sensitivity by default, and for some of the interactions it was just not possible to complete the movement without changing my DPI. An issue I didn't have with the previous entries.
Lastly, as with the other entries there are a ton of forced camera movements when going to and from areas of interest. However, in this game there are many more forced movements, they are much slower, and they take a long time to end. So you're locked out waiting for the animation to end a great deal which becomes frustrating. Given that they moved to a freely navigable hub, I think it may have made more sense to just switch to a free move system.
Other than those issues, the hub system does open some new doors. It feels a little bit more immersive I suppose, and there are reasons to re-evaluate areas you've past previously and so on. Which, was a nice surprise.
Story:
▪ This is one area in which the game has advanced. This entry finally makes sense of the impenetrable story of the last two, and also brings a new perspective on what's going on. It even brings some closure on matters, and as I said introduces multiple endings. The writing is good and despite the game not being quite as spooky the last game, the story component gets pretty dark.
Visuals:
▪ Graphically the game looks the same as the previous entries. Which is to say very good. However, this time, there is a lot more going on, and a great deal more spectacle. It's overall less spooky, but still a visual treat.
Music & Sound:
▪ Not a lot to report that I recall. All serviceable stuff. Probably could have built a better atmosphere with the sound.
Achievements:
▪ Again, purely progression related achievements. This time with the addition of achievements for each alternative ending.
Verdict:
▪ The third in the series delivers more spectacle but at a cost. That which is added is negated by that which is taken away. It's still a decent puzzle game, but perhaps just not as solid as the first two. However, I'd still recommend it for those who have played the previous titles.
Just like the previous games, very good, you know what you're going for, I liked the addition of the different endings.
This the game pretty much all other escape games are trying to measure up to. There's nothing else like The Room series. Only problem is that after you have played them nothing else will satisfy. 100% worth buying. I wish they would make more!!
Like first two games, this one have good puzzles, atmosphere and ambient sounds with amazing music to accompany you to the final of every game's chapter, I won't say many words, because I already described my opinion in first two games, but I would like to mention that I can't acknowledge what they did in this one, they added different endings, that you can achieve only and only if you study the game in every aspect, because of that I and certainly many others were forced to check guides to receive last achievements. Even so I recommend this game to all people.
I enjoyed this game but boy were some of those room transitions painfully slow! otherwise a great game!
