Да, гольф упоминается в названии, но на этом сходства заканчиваются. WHAT THE GOLF? — это юмористическая игра с головоломками, испытаниями и тонной сюрпризов. Ладно, в ней есть немного того, что можно назвать «гольфом», но все остальное точно не является им. Запутались? Прекрасно!
Вас ждут «Спортивный спорт», «Да будет снег», «Сезон раскопок» и сотни других уровней, наполненных всякой всячиной: тостерами, хот-догами, офисными креслами и прочей дребеденью.

Silly creative twist on golf!
A very wacky, physics-based game brimming with creativity. The devs have crafted hundreds of goofy scenarios around the central theme of (not) golf. I'm not usually a fan of "silly" games, but this one managed to get a few chuckles out of me, and I had fun. The main campaign doesn't overstay its welcome, and for those that really enjoy it, there are free expansions and daily activities.

Обычное прохождение - нормальное. Но прохождение на платину это кошмар. Игра не сложная, не ставит задачу найти ненаходимое. Нет, ради ачивки Most Daily Golf ты должен заходить в игру раз в сутки на протяжении двух недель и играть в одни и те же уровни. Но в этом хоть какой-то смысл есть. Затем перед тобой ачивка Ten hours! которая заставляет играть в основную компанию 10 часов при том что игра проходится на 100% за 3-6 часов в нормальном темпе. То есть по мнению студии интересный геймплей это запустить игру на фон и делать ничего. Нет реиграбельности, нет контента, ты просто должен крутить игре онлайн половину псевдо геймплея.

i forgot to make a review my bad. this game has so much content it was worth the money to me. from original to meme levels. there is no i beat the game cause the levels are endless. enjoy some "golf" fun and never get bored if you like games with endless content.

Fun little minigames that can get very creative/surprising at times.
Lots of homages to other known games like Super Mario, Metal Gear or Undertale and many more.
100% main campaign and the bonus episodes took about 8h to complete.
Very dry jokes, but if you have a good feeling for dad jokes you will LOVE this game, its pretty fun!

Clever game. I really like the reference to other games, like Portal and Super Hot.
This was a very fun little game. I was quite stressed before I played this and it was exactly what I needed to chill and relax. The wacky humor and art style was quite fun for me. I loved how they added so much chaos and variety to a golf game.
The people who worked on this game think outside of the box and I applaud their unique take on how all the various levels unfold. The controls were simple and worked great with my Xbox controller if you prefer playing that way. I thoroughly enjoyed this and often struggled to put it down. Quite the fun time and now that I purchased WHAT THE CAR? and played some, I am looking forward to perfecting that game’s achievements as well. 9/10 rating for this one.
Just wanted a golf game with maybe a little quirkiness... And boy does this puzzler deliver in the quirk department exponentially.

Also, I have 'What The Bat?' VR on my Meta Quest and that is just Peak light-hearted fun + brilliance. Who knew swinging virtual bats could feel this fun and zen????????????

WHAT THE GOLF? is, in my opinion, one of the most innovative games of the 2020s. Taking the mechanical framework of a tired genre and reinventing it into something totally new, extremely bizarre and honestly quite challenging at times is absolutely the key selling point of the game. Is it perfect? No. Is it fun? Absolutely. WHAT THE GOLF? is a puzzle game disguised as a golf simulator, and I'd highly recommend it.

A game all about setting then shattering expectations in delightful, unexpected ways. The main campaign has clever and creative moments with only occasional frustrations, but where it really shines is in all the extra levels like the Episodes and side modes where they really figured out what they wanted to do. And there is a ton of that extra content, there's still a brand new episode left to go. Not saying it's perfect, the main campaign's level hub can be weirdly boring and slow to move through, for example. But if you've never played a game in this series before, give it a try. And check out What The Bat? if you have VR, it's my favorite game of this series.

Worth its money, but if you get easily frustrated it might not be for you. Sometimes the hitting mechanics need to be millimeter accurate and other times it seems arbitrary.

So many different nods to influential games. The amount of mechanics implemented here for a one off level is psychotic and I'm all about it.
Haven't written a review in ages. But when I came across the portal level and the background music had the same but different enough melody as the portal 1 song, still alive. I just had to come leave this.
Companies need to think outside of the rhombus and this one does in spades.

I've tried to like this game, I really did but this is the prime example of why taking a single concept and making a 10-20 hours game out of it is not such a good idea.
It's funny at first but then you start to see levels which are not gold-related at all. This is not bad by itself except for the fact that controls and general styling still tries to be "golfy". The worst offenders, probably, are the "Portal-like" levels. WTF is this? Why is this here? Even if you think that this is funny - do I really have to suffer through the unintuitive golf-like controls while controlling a laser stuck in the upper corner of the screen?
I wish this whole experience would have lasted something like 2 hours. But it does not, so I cannot recommend it.
I enjoyed this game from start to finish. From the very start it's fun and kind of addicting and doesn't lose this momentum it gains at the beginning. I absolutely recommend this game, however I do have a few gripes with it.
The positive:
- Fun and addicting gameplay from start to finish (as I've said above)
- The game doesn't overstay its welcome. The campaign doesn't feel drawn out and keeps innovating throughout itself to keep things interesting
- The hub worlds are cool
- The themes of most of the sub-areas are cool
- The extra episodes are great
- Some puzzles can be solved in multiple ways
- The humor and references are good
- Easy to 100%
- Simple but effective art direction
- Runs well
The neutral:
- The "boss fights" were fine. They got the job done but they could've been more of a challenge i think
- Some challenges were really fun and difficult in a fair way, some were just either a bit bullshit or completely luck based and some were just kinda whatever
- The daily challenges are okay but I don't know what purpose they serve other than to pad out the game time for achievement hunters
- The gimicks can get rather predictible
- LGBT flags randomly appear in some maps. Thought this was worth a mention for some people, I don't care about this tbh
The negative:
- I don't think the game is worth it at full price. Buy it on sale
- There are advertisements for the studios newer game in this game
- I don't like date specific achievements, soI wasn't fond of the daily quest and thanksgiving related ones. Thankfully these can be completed any time if you change the date on your computer.
- The soundtrack gets very boring
I think this is a good game overall and the main campaign deserves a playthrough at least once.

Such a charming game. I feel like a grandpa at his old computer playing solitaire or maybe facebook games. It only requires your mouse hand to play so I don't have to put my beer down. Nice.

$20? Absolutely not. I got it on sale for $7 though, and it's pretty fun.
A weird and whacky Puzzle Game disguising itself as a Golf Game. What's not to like!
This game is right on the cusp of 'recommend', but I'm going with 'no' for one simple reason.
But before I explain that, I'll say first that the overall reviews for 'What the Golf' are spot on. The graphics are winsome, sound design is pleasant, and the humor is like a Mel Brooks film: when you pump out a dozen gags per minute, some will land and some will fall flat. No harm there.
The developers invest admirable effort--there are no heights too high, no depths too low--in levels that last barely ten seconds and serve no purpose other than to deliver a terrible pun. Truly, you have no idea what will be thrown at you next.
As others have pointed out, if you are a completionist or an achievement hound, you are in for a rough ride. While you can skim the levels and finish the game with little trouble, some of the 'par' and 'crown' levels are absolute trash, difficult primarily because they are awful. Another gamer gave wise advice: you'll have the best experience if you try the extended levels once or twice and then walk away from the rubbish ones. That's what I did.
And I had a good time. A few laughs, a bit of fun. The game was on sale for under $7, which is about the right price. More than that is too much for the goods on offer.
Why the thumbs down then? I discovered this game because the developer's new game, 'What the Car', showed up in my recommendations and looked interesting, so I took at look at their (small) catalog and ended up buying 'What the Golf'. And after playing 'What the Golf' I can say I have no interest in playing other games from this team.
The actual gameplay is so thin, as shallow as a birdbath, the variety ultimately superficial, the novelty spent, that it's most fun when, through imitation, it reminds you how fun other games can be, and that you should probably play those games instead. And so you should.
There's value in reminding us of great games, but not enough for a recommendation, as it is also a reminder of what this game is not.
