This game always feels like I'm cleaning up the aftermath of a First Person Shooter PVE game, and I couldn't ask for anything more from it. 5 stars
Extremely fun. (I'd like to play more but the controls, particularly when it comes to the buckets, seem practically anti-user. This would be funny except I have arthritis.)
Better than the hit game Super Mario Bros. 3 developed in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
It's a classic and it remains so for good reason. Can't go wrong playing this alone or with friends.
One of the most unique games i've ever played. nothing like it, and it fucks, this game FUCKS
Lot of content for the price tag, definitely worth it.
I might even clean stuff irl instead of in this game...
actually I'm just going to cleanup viscera.
much gore many stimulation such repetitive + mundane acts minimal yet funny plot
Awesome game to clean jiblits and body parts to while your friends are messing around creating a bigger mess and yelling at each other!
Only complaint is the multiplayer lag, but cmon this game was made in 2015
A fix for this is just have the server host carry the buckets and bins of body parts :)
incredible, just a master-peace, GET THIS GAME ASMP
First game like this I've really gotten into, read some complaints about the repetition, having to pick up every individual casing etc. I dunno, it feels like that's just what you'd have to do to clean up???
Taking it at face value as a 10+ year old game at this point, bought for $5 or less, cant go wrong. Throw on some music and just chill out and clean.
Think I might check out some newer games in the genre like crime scene clean up and see how it compares.
6/10
It's a cool cleaning game I wanted to play after completing PowerWash but it's a bit less polished and a bit more annoying. The constant monotony of running back and forth to fetch clean buckets of water or empty containers kinda sucks the fun out of a decent game. Especially since the dispensers for said things aren't always in a convenient location.its a really good game. for years i have been slowly working towards 100%ing it, and it is a journey.
Its a really good game. multiplayer works most of the time and is a blast with how janky it is.
its a really good game. the game has hours and hours and hours of content filled maps
its a really good game. there are tons of good maps on the workshop.
its a really good game. it has easter eggs to games like half life and minecraft.
its a really good game.
If you are thinking of getting this game then make sure you have friends who enjoy it
or find a podcast to listen to
made my head hurt
extremely loud on startup, even after turning down sound
controls are weird to use and not intuitive at all
physics engine felt very buggy especially in multiplayer
weird rubberbanding issues

me looking at my friend for the fifth time after he knocked over the box of human flesh resetting our progress of the area
A darkly humorous simulation game with simple mechanics to latch onto. It's exciting for a sim game, but chill for a horror game. I cannot recommend it enough.
Absolutely love this game, still holds up even today, but if I had to deal with the physics while stacking crates and barrels again i'm absolutely gonna lose it
the engine and physics are kinda bad, but its also an older game so i cant really blame it, but this game is genuinely so good and gives you so much to do. I heavily recommend
Doing video game chores are somehow much more satisfying than real life chores...
This is Viscera cleanup detail, we clown in this motherfucker, you better take your sensitive ass back to Powerwash simulator!
Incredibly tedious game, but boy howdy does it tickle that audtistic itch to clean and super focus on a task. Highly recommend checking out the wiki for clues on how to play, for the game is very hands off on what to do. Super fun, will continue to scour the levels to figure out where in the hell that puddle of blood is that I keep stepping in and leaving tracks EVERYWHERE. 10/10, would clean again
If you look online many people have had issues with the inability to connect to multiplayer for the past 8 years and the developers response has been to blame it on an incompatibility between the game engine and your router/isp. If the game works for you immediately after install, great. If it doesn't, don't even bother. Just refund it. I have spent hours going through everything that has been suggested with nothing working.
After playing for 100+ hours I feel I owe this game a review. VCD is the grandfather of all the new cleaning games coming out, it was one of the first to really push the cleaning genre! With that being said the game is fun, solo or co-op. The levels are generally unique, with a few that have the same "medical" theme. Every level also has well placed machines and routes so you don't have to walk a million miles (kinda debatable on some of the bigger maps).
Are the physics janky? Yes. Does that take away from the experience? No. Once you get familiar with how the physics work, it actually becomes pretty hard to make a mess. A lot of the time you can actually use the physics to your advantage! Need to throw something ridiculously far? Turn your camera fast and let go of that crate to send it into orbit. Need to get somewhere high? Lift a friend on a stack of crates.
People complaining about no feedback are partially right, there's no in game tutorial. At the end of a level, papers appear in your office for what you missed that level; a blood stain or a bullet hole, or if you flipped barrels the wrong way. It's not obvious but the game DOES have feedback. The sniffer tool is actually really accurate in pointing out messes, green mode for trash/bullet holes and blue for blood and body parts.
The game has a lot of secrets you get achievements for (and you get to keep the collectibles if you want). The DLC also has a ton of collectibles to bring back to the office. The DLC maps are big and fairly priced for what you get.
One huge upside of VCD is the steam workshop integration, the community has made tons of maps that you can play and get scores on, even keep anything you find to display in your office!
If you like methodical cleaning you should get this game, its gritty tone and stupid physics make for a fun combo that gives it a kind of charm. Looking forward to VCD 2 in the future!
I was recommended this game after playing a similar game where you clean up crime scenes which I loved. At first glance it appeared very similar so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately I found this game a lot less enjoyable.
Starting with the positives the concept is great. I love the idea of cleaning up an alien lab and the artwork/graphics fit the game really well.
However the key points that made it less fun for me were;
1 - Absolutely no tutorial or guide to get started. I managed to work out the basic controls but had to look up some of the more advanced techniques online.
2 - The mop is the only way to clean blood stains but is really slow. In a heavily stained area the mop can only sweep 3 times before becoming stained, after which if you try to use it it spreads more blood around. You then have to clean it in a bucket but you can only use a bucket 3/4 times before that also becomes dirty. I spent most of the game just running back and forth to get fresh buckets. I wish there was some sort of in game upgrade mechanism where you could improve the mops durability as you play.
3 - The laser doesn't stay in your inventory and you drop it every time you switch to a different tool.
4 - The sniffer tool is useless. It kept beeping when I was standing in the middle of an open space where there was no visible stain. I tried cleaning the whole area again with the mop but it keeps beeping. There's no other way to see/detect what areas still need cleaning. I found the different toned beeps very difficult to distinguish and found the visual 'clues' no help at all.
5 - There's no real story line and you can play any level you wish from the beginning. This is more of a pet peeve as some people will prefer this mechanism but I would have preferred the levels to unlock one at a time with a bit more dialogue, perhaps leading deeper into the station and unlocking new tools as you go.
6 - There's no objectives given in game and no breakdown at the end of the level. I completed the first level and I was certain I had picked up every single piece of trash and cleaned every stain. When I finished the level it told me I had 95% satisfactory rate but it didn't tell me what I missed. It took almost 3 hours to clear the level so to not finish it with 100% is extremely unsatisfactory for me.
I may play some more levels in the future if I have time to kill but I won't be rushing back to this game. The concept itself is great but I'd much prefer it if you could upgrade the mop and sniffer, and also see what the level objectives are (eg how many pieces of trash left) as you go.
I love this game I just wish it was more frequently updated, it was easier to access the developers, and more adaptable to MacOS systems
As much as this game is fun, the multiplayer physics are ungodly awful for non-host janitors. Concept +++, Game Engine ---
My gf and I picked this up recently for some casual co-op but it reeeeally didn't age well. The jank is just too frustrating to be charming. I can tell why it was so popular back in the day though, there is definitely something fun in here and the humor still holds up.
I would definitely check out a sequel if there are ever plans for one
Very fun time waster with funny dark humor and janky physics to go along with it. It also has custom map and mod support is always good to have
A group of idiots clean a place and realize they can't count when it comes to finally doing the paperwork
I get overstimulated easily so playing scary games is pretty much out of the question for me- but this is a fantastic way for me to interact with truly spooky environments while knowing that (for the most part) I am safe! Of course, being a janitor is no easy job, and sometimes the scariest part of a map is the amount of trash strewn about. But this game is very fun and engaging, and I have replayed a few maps more than once and found it delightful to catch things I missed on the last go. Just a great game, I'm having a great time.
multiplayer doesn't work. the fix is too complicated. it's a game that's many years old but apparently can't manage to get co op running like normal
This is a great game for anyone who likes cleaning games, its satisfying to clean up the crazy scenes and its never boring. There's a large variety of maps and great custom game play options. You can enjoy this great game by yourself or with a friends. 100% recommend :)
some game elements dont get explained too well but also sometimes no hand-holding is good, especially in a casual game where you aren't necessarily supposed to play it correctly
all in all if you actually pay attention to unlike a lobotomized idiot it can be very relaxing
chill game, you can blow yourself up, very nice to distress and just play. however connecting to multiplayer can be a pain in the ass is a 50/50 situation
I play this game inbetween university classes. A few months ago a dude came up asking what I was playing, and he watched me play for a while before getting it himself and joining me. Long story short, were dating now and we meet almost every day to play this together. this is a 10/10 game and a 10/10 wingman.
Just got demoted, but it doesn't matter to me, as long as I get all the Fat Man Soda and Alien Porn I want.
Interesting level designs and lore.
Game could use a tutorial and progress bar of some sort. Had to look up the wiki to figure out how some things worked. Like bonus points for stacking crates or barrels in marked zones. Using the welder to fix bullet holes.
"Viscera Cleanup Detail" is a surprisingly satisfying and addictive experience. What seems like a simple concept—cleaning up the aftermath of chaotic sci-fi battles—turns into a detailed and challenging puzzle. I found it incredibly enjoyable to carefully mop up blood, incinerate debris, and put everything in its proper place, while the game's humor and atmosphere kept things engaging. It’s both therapeutic and oddly rewarding to see the once-messy environment transformed into a pristine scene. If you’re looking for a game that turns a mundane task into an oddly immersive challenge, this is it. Highly recommend for anyone craving something unique and unexpectedly relaxing!
I bought this game cause it was my childhood dream game about 5-6 weeks ago and it was sooooo boring i realy think that its better to just to watch a few gameplay videos than to buy this.
perfect for hopping on with bestie and gossiping for 6 hours while cleaning dismembered bodies <3
Great game, only bad thing is it makes you download software with it which is why I won't play it again. If you don't mind installing and allowing permissions to other software's then I definitely recommend this one!
sometimes calming. sometimes frustrating. 10/10 for making me smash my keyboard or kick my feet.
great game, though multiplayer is a little buggy when it comes to connecting (i just cant connect). though one of the reasons i bought the game was cause my friend said we could eat people, would be a great feature
Can't even play multiplayer without port forwarding, and even then that doesn't always work. Multiplayer used to work just fine years ago when i first played. Now its the worst thing ever. Don't waste your time.
There is NO tutorial or help at all. By clicking around and looking at the key binding options I at least figured out how to change from mop to hand mode, but that wasn't much help either. Shoving the mop three times in the dirt results in the mop being so filthy it splatters blood everywhere. I struggled to find the water bucket (it was on the other side of the room), then I struggled to get the mop clean, then I struggled to replace the empty water bucket. Total time of actual cleaning at this point: two seconds.
This sounded like a really cool game, but the way it is it's just unplayable for me.
literally my favorite game ngl very nostalgic and meditative the game i pick up when ive had a bad day
i kept exploding every 4 minutes, i reccomend
Absolutley love this game, and i am very glad to see that we are able to play workshop maps aswell. :D
It's oddly satisfying and fun with friends, a lot especially when you walk past eachother and you kill your mate while just holding a mop. :p
this game is so much fun. Its co op so more frustration to be had. Its hilarious and fun, i need more maps
