Achievements broken, I can't get a single one also others complain but no response. . . only a few mini-games are fun, but not all of them (balloon..) work for me. One part (see 3rd picture) is only for people with a very good tracking VR system AND of course a steady arm. It was very frustrating to see how far one comes in that part but then realize that it is to demanding to just have fun while other games are easy going.
There were updates that we didn't need, instead of fixing some bugs or whatever. I now won't play again for the sake of the achievements :( Not worth full prize.
Cool idea but the price is too high for what it is. This game just feels like a neat little tech demo that some developers put together. The games aren't very engaging and rides are alright. If it was $5 then I would surely recommend but not for $20.
Great game to have a refreshing experience. It offers various fun mini-games with good visuals. It took me around 2.5 hours to play all the content, but of course they are all re-playable as much as you enjoy.
Almost a year later since the last review about it not supporting Index Controllers. I'm here to say they are still not supported, first time a game has become a downgrade after upgrading the hardware.
Not recommended for people without the HTC Vive controllers. Valve Index or HP Reverb G2 controllers NOT SUPPORTED IN ANY WAY. Not playable at all.
Don't buy it until the developer sits his lazy ass down and upgrades the controller issues. So far not a single word from his side.
Overall, this is a fun game but the fun ended when I upgraded to a Valve Index. There is NO support for the index controllers and I could only find some partial maps that would let me have some controls like teleporting. However, many of the mini games simply do not work with the Index. The shooting Gallery, and the Balloon Ride for example. I have not retried all the minigames but it seems without proper Index Controller support they do not work. This was brought to the attention of the developers more than 6 months ago and they still refuse to resolve the issue. I can recommend this to Vive owners but for the Index owners you must be content with mainly enjoying the theater videos which are excellent.
Looks absolutely stunning with the reverb G2. The WMR Controllers work great. The new island is a blast. That submarine ride with the G2 clarity is almost unbelievable. Runs very well with a 1080ti still. Colors pop like never before. Some games are better than others but overall a must have.
I really wanted to try this game out but I would avoid the game if you own a Valve Index. The controllers are not supported and as far as I have seen the dev's have not responded to any questions about making support for the Vive. Looked fun not playable save your money.
Lots of fun small games, great intro to VR for new folks with the rollercoaster and other rides, and challenging other games like the maze.
I got this game during the 2020 summer sale. To be honest I wasn't expecting much. Mainly I got it for the roller coaster ride. I was wrong. While the roller coaster is a bit lack luster, the rest of the game is AMAZING! This is a park I wish I could visit in real life!
The creators of this game put a lot of love and effort into this game.
I can not recommend this game enough!
A rather uneven assortment of carnival thrills, from your bog standard roller coaster to a spooky submarine ride, and an on-rails motorcycle segment where you can live out your fantasies of being Batman if he was a complete asshole. There is also an assortment of mini games, ranging from the mediocre to the weirdly frustrating, whether you are asked to launch crunch berries at high up targets or guide a laser with pinpoint accuracy through a neverending series of increasingly elaborate mazes, you will be driven to the point of surrender as you are required to bend your body in ways never intended to achieve these goals and collect the coveted stars. I gave up around the fifteenth maze like this when I had to accept that the pain I was causing my joints just wasn't worth the prize. Only get it if it's on sale and you are just dying to ride a rollercoaster in VR.
I purchased this early on and really enjoyed it, but I will not recommend until they undo or give the option to turn off the forced comfort mode. If they do this, I will give a big thumbs up!
I have a child with autism who adores this game. The interface is all very intuitive and immersive and there is a really neat variety of things to do.
This game is great. It is one of the best or is the best of its kind. It’s light, entertaining and is updated with new attractions, which keeps you coming back. Highly recommend for everyone. Family friendly. Keep updates coming. How about adding a haunted mansion. ?
I've wanted a virtual theme park simulator ever since I heard of the Oculus Rift when Carmack showed off the duct-taped prototype that Palmer Luckey made in his garage.
I noticed Summer Funland on Steam and was interested but something always stuck in the back of my mind; it looked too good. I was thinking that maybe it was one of those promotional experiences like that MSI Experience thing(which was actually good) but maybe Funland is the result of a sponsorship so you'd see gaudy advertisements everywhere, but no. It's a legit theme park simulator and a great one.
It really does show off what a VIRTUAL REALITY theme park is and should be: it gives you enough of an experience aesthetically that you relate to it as a theme park set in the real world but it also takes advantage of the fact that in VR you don't need to worry about things like physics, scale, weather, budget, the local economy, zoning laws .etc, when building a park. You just build anything that couldn't be done in the real world.
You want a ride where you're racing a Batman-themed cycle through a dystopian city at 150MPH? You can do that. Want to ride a submersible through an ancient ruin while being pursued by a ravenous sea monster? You can do that. Want to hurtle through a kaleidoscopic tunnel while riding atop a glowing unicorn and using a rainbow joust to spear polygonal targets? You can do that.
It's amazing. The only this is I want MORE. More people, mascots wandering around, more rides, more activities, more park space. MORE!
Apparently this sim is getting expansions because parts of the park are sealed off with "in construction" labels in places. I want to see this sim expanded 3-4x its current size. I'd pay for expansion packs. I don't care. This is amazing. If they added co-op to this with voice chat, holy crap. Stuff like this is the future of VR.
SUPPORT SUMMER FUNLAND!
Love that the devs are active and working on adding new attractions. My favorite is the underwater adventure and Arkham. Wish the ride was longer, though.
ETA: Changed my recommendation to NO until developers make the comfort setting on the rollercoaster optional. Stop dumbing the game down for people who have motion sickness. Features like that should always be optional.
This is the second greatest place on earth, right here.
You guys managed to perfectly capture the atmosphere, fun and experience of a great themepark, unmatched by any other VR or Non-VR game out there.
If Disney ever makes a big budget VR release of their themeparks, they must pick this development studio to develop it. Anyone else making it would only bring dissapointment and not nearly the same level of quality.
10/10!
It's a minigame collection where every game is like best I've seen in terms of execution.
The lighthouse climbing game alone makes it a keeper. Best climbing I've seen so far in VR.
The breakout game is also one of the best I've seen in VR.
There's a couple other fun ones that combined make it worth the price.
I agree with another reviewer that the price is high for what you get here. On the other hand the wow factor is there and these graphics are beautiful. The games are fun and I found myself laughing out loud a couple of times. I think kids might especially enjoy this. The roller coaster was very good as were the movies in the theatre.
Honestly though, I've actually thought about returning it because the overall experience is so short and, at the price, I feel I could get another game that I can play many times.
Overall I'd say you might want to wait to see if the price goes down, or if money isn't an object, go ahead and add this one to your library to come back to when you just want to relax and have some simple fun. Bravo on the graphics guys. This is what VR can look like.
Pros: Fun, colorful graphics. Excellent on-rails experiences such as roller coaster, underwater sub ride (the best!), etc. A lot of content, more than I expected. Climb the lighthouse, play mini-games, NPCs are attractive and add to the immersion. I finished most of the attractions, but haven't opened the secret door yet. The varied content, and fun environment is a great escape to a truly fun land.
Cons: A little motion sickness on intense rides, but not too much (I turned my head at times on the coaster). The full price is a little high for what you get.
Overall, this is an above average VR game, and would be very fun for kids, or the young at heart. Also, an excellent tech demo for introducing VR to friends.
