You are alone on your ship, in orbit above an undiscovered alien planet.
The windswept surface below is a radioactive wasteland. In orbit, the radiation levels are dangerous. Landing there would kill you in seconds, even through your spacesuit.
You have a remote control rover drone. The signal is weak and the interference is strong - the video feed is grainy with static. Use it to explore the surface of the planet, the derelict structures there, and the remains of alien machinery long dead... or perhaps just dormant.
Pilot your rover, bring back samples, and research them in the science lab. Use the objects you've found to enhance your rover. Try to figure out what happened here. Each time you start a new game, you are someone else, with a different story and unknown mysteries waiting on a new planet. With luck, you might leave with a cargo hold full of priceless alien artifacts and be wealthy for life.
Be careful. Bad things sometimes happen to lone explorers far from home.
Scavenger SV-4 is genre defiant - part simulator, part roguelike, with elements of action, combat, resource management, and a dash of horror. It is not quite like any game you have played before.

I brought HAL 9000 onto my ship and he Threw me out the airlock when I was reaching for my EVA suit.
This game is pretty cool. I love the whiplash of going from "huh, what's that?" to "huh, what's that!" in a few minutes.
Loving this game so far, had to great runs and then i found out the rover is allergic to gravity
Very unique and strange game, love it
I really the atmosphere of this game and feeling alone in space. the actual gameplay loop itself isn't that amazing but the funny easter eggs you can run into are very cool. (I LOVE SCHIZOPHRENIA)
I suffered catastrophic radiation poisoning, got sucked into the vacuum of space, and asphyxiated before I even knew what I was doing. 9.5/10 my only complaint is that you can't dive headfirst into the planet and have the hostile atmosphere tear your flimsy body to shreds or cook yourself with the spaceship's thrusters.
Cosmic-slice-of-life not massive amount of content like Voices-Of-The-Void but a-lot easier to orient yourself with goals and tasks.

Difficult to explain, and does a lot of things unlike other games I've played. Somewhat of a roguelite, as you'll be exploring the surface looking for various objects of interest that provide different rewards on the ship.
There is an oppressive atmosphere of danger, and a few scares if you happen to come across them. The radiation 'timer' might put a lot of people off the game, but does provide a lot of the overall urgency and challenge with regards to scoring.
A very unique experience that might not be for everyone, but I certainly found very interesting.

This game is so fucking cool. It's totally consumed my life and thoughts since I got it. There's so much to figure out and experience, and the game treats these reveals and surprises with respect. Nothing is just straight up told to you, and the exposition there is; is lovingly integrated within the game world. It rocks. I w=just wish there was even more writing but everything that's there is amazing. I wish it was bigger. I wish I could stick around with these characters and make return trips and find even more absurdly freaky sci-fi shenanigans. I know there must be a bunch I'm still unaware of, like good uses for the EVA suit, more ways to eliminate or perhaps capture lifeforms ect. I know the content seems abandoned, but god please answer my prayer if you want someone to write some more intros, I am becoming passionate about the vaugue background world, or if you ever just ever felt the urge to do even more with this game, please do it. It's so amazing. Overall it's got all the systems in place a good space immersive sim should, condensed into this crazy awesome rouge-like format. It's incredibly charming, way more thoughtful than I initially gave it credit for, and something I envision myself coming back to as a classic. Again, if you've ever felt the urge or had the opportunity to do even more with it, trust that instinct. I can't believe this game isn't more popular than it is.
Scavenger SV-4 is incredibly creative and entertaining, the horror elements genuinely made me so scared. The lore and tidbits you get is so cool and entertaining, I love the designs for everything from the animals, robots on the planets, and the ship. I just wish there was more to it, more game play. I love rougeikes but this would be so much better with a fully fleshed out game where you go planet to planet collecting items, getting stronger and stronger each planet. I feel like its constricted to its genre how it is and the game could be incredible if it was expanded,
Neat little roguelike about scavenging a terribly radioactive planet for alien artifacts to further advance your (and the human race's) knowledge about alien life. Although I haven't played too much I love the concept and am totally enjoying the experience so far, very immersive setting and every run you play you get a new log which gives a story about who you are and why you're there. I won't spoil too much about what you can find but note that it is a heavily limited experience and every run lasts about an hour and a half, or more if you want to be greedy or don't mind getting a brain tumour on account of the radiation frying your insides...
I feel like this is both the game's blessing and curse. On the bright side: you get a new fresh experience every time, with a new planet and species to learn about and different artifacts to explore (some of which can actually be installed on your rover as upgrades) However, this also can make your progress feel shallow as every time you check back at the autodoc you are reminded how limited your stay has to be. Nevertheless, I think 18 dollars (in my currency of course) is the perfect price for a game like this - if a little on the cheap side - really my only true grumble is that I haven't had enough, and want more. Although I know this game has a lot more for me to see, I feel I will always have a sad feeling every time I remember it because it has so much room for new content of which will never be added because it is complete, not necessarily a bad thing but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed to learn it was no longer receiving updates... which I learned about 6 years too late.
8.5/10 would get lulled into a false sense of security and jump scared again just to have more content added

Good
Horror and Rougelite do not mix, you will just leave before anything scary happens. I bought it for the scares, refunded for the radiation timer. I do not know why the game has a timer, but it actively hurts the horror experience. And even when you extract with your loot, you're greeted with a high score and some text detailing how your character lived out the rest of their life. It's underwhelming all around.
Go play Voices of the Void, it's free, more confident in its design, scarier, and far more immersive.
The game has an interesting concept, and I would REALLY like to play it. But the weird mouse behavior makes interacting with terminals so frustrating that I cannot stand playing more than 30 minutes a the time before I start to tense up.
Disabling "enhance pointer precision" in windows mouse properties -> pointer options helps a little, but doesn't make the game fluent. The feeling is that the threshold for moving the mouse in the game is set too high, so you have to move the mouse fast before the the cursor starts to move. Which makes you overshoot the buttons.
I cannot recommend it, because it is unplayable... I would really like to play the game though... :(
Got this game because I was bored and knew I could always refund it if I didn't like it. End of my first play session I had spent 2.5 hours on the game, explored multiple planets,nearly got eaten by an alien life form and had an imaginary astronaut tap on my window.Overall the game is pretty good by my standards.

Good little alien roughe like game
Nice little game that scratches the itch that you might have if you've played Voices of the Void. Unfortunately, it is rather short and a roguelike on top of that, so the experience is more akin to a taste than a full meal.
Honestly, though, with a fleshed out story and longer gameplay loop, this could be a whole thing all on its own, but I'm glad the dev took the time to make a game like this. We need more like it.

I'd like to play an expanded version of this game where you can leave, sell your salvage and return to the planet to explore more with better equipment and delve deeper into the mystery of the planet's past.
Unfortunately this is not that game. You only have a certain time limit before you have to leave the planet and therefore end the game. You can restart the game and play a new iteration but no progress carries over from the previous play.
This is a great "concept" game to show to possible investors but is not for play imho. :-)
please make more games or let me pay more for this one
I like this game a lot it is a very different type of game. I wish that there was more planets to explore.
