Worth it at less than $3, but that's about it. Extremely simple and unimaginative, the entire "campaign" is just the same thing over and over again with increasing damage and health numbers on both sides. Really dull.
A fun game, but too monotonous and dull.
A neat arena-shooter with RPG elements and enough challenge to avoid being completely brainless.

I really wanted to like this game, but alas I cannot give it a thumbs up. It seems to be the love child of Mechwarrior and "insert generic twin stick shooter here." There's no depth, "Ooooh, I beat the level, time to open chests' that about sums up the game play. Sorry, look elsewhere.
The concept is great, execution (for single player) is poor.
As far as I can tell, the difficulty does not change based on whether you play alone or with 4 players.
This means that to make a fun game for four players, the single-player experience is ludicrously difficult. With grinding until my unit has maxed out weapons and hull with the most useful weapons I could find or buy (which took less than three hours to achieve), I still can't get very far into the game. The enemies have deal 1/5th of your health per hit and there are dozens of them per wave with minimal chances to heal. You can't get enough speed to realistically dodge the quantity of firepower thrown at you. Enemies will spawn adjacent to you, and until you have a fully charged special weapon to disable them, you can die from max health before you can even move. While I'm sure the multi-player experience is great with 4 people when you have 4x the life and firepower among your party, playing the game solo is an exercise in frustration. If you're CERTAIN that you'll have friends to play with, then consider it; otherwise, don't bother.
Pretty cool arena-style "mech" type game. Visual and audio FX are slick and work pretty well even maxed out on older hardware. Hopefully more planet levels from the developer on the way. Pretty impressive array of weapons, but a few that are too similar to others and don't really add anything to the game play IMO. The novelty will wear off after a while without new planets and content but for the price it's a pretty cool game. No issues with it on Mac.
Really cool game!
My buddies and I are always looking for fun co op games and this did not dissappoint. It has a really good feel to it when you team up and explode your enemies everywhere.
Overall pretty solid game and worth the $10.
Amazing controls and satisfying gameplay! 5/7 would definitely recommend. It's got a neat player progression along with good balance and close-to-nill learning curve.

So at the time of this review update, there seems to be no controller support. The difficulty curve has become a little steep and it's becoming harder for me to return to the game just for fun. Still, seems like a game that I'd recommend as I've seen it improve a lot since the Early Access days.
AE now is a pleasantly tough challenge with great amounts of replayability (if you like the first impression)
Nice to see a game grow from something easy to pick-up but incomplete to something definite and reasonably tough to play. :)
Wow! What a great value! A fun, flexible, engaging, multiplayer-capable bullet-hell. Worth every penny and more. Gift a copy to all your friends immediately!
It's a little slow before you feel like you're getting going. Armored Evolution takes about 10 upgrades to your loadout before you really feel you've hit a stride, like you can take on anything. Once it hits that, of course, you're gonna ROCK!
There's enough content to keep you busy while the devs make more missions, add weapons, and include more vehicles. It's good top-down arena pulp.
Pretty solid EA game with responsive controll, well done balance and a fluid progession, absolutely worth the price!

TLDR: Unity Engine. No Xbox360 pad support. Small arena fights with increasingly fast and damaging foes. Forces slowgrind and randomized loot hoarding for progression.
The scope of the game is clearly small ambitions. Small arenas. Not much of a setting. Just a few tank chassis a few appendages to upgrade on a linear basis like different cannon types.
It is not all bad, the enemies randomize movement a bit making for somewhat fun twitch adjustments to aiming on the fly as they zigzqag. However, this is mostly a grind based game and not so much a skills based one. There is a bullethell element at times, and with some foes having bullets bounce of walls or inflict area of effect there are no realistic ways to go about making up for that without the upgrades.
The sound effects were not grating and the soundtrack felt rather pleasant. Menus were well laid out and on-screen information was well presented.
The lack of controller support means this is strictly a sit-down-at-the-desk type of gaming experience. For something so superficial and shallow and action oriented I would expect a couch-friendly remote control option.
Conclusion: There are tons of games in this genre, from highly polished ones such as Helldivers, as well as a ton of very flavorful indie-types such as Jydge, Ruiner to name but a few. This is simply redundant and ¨lesser-than¨. Dont burn yourself from the genre playing underpar offerings. Save yourself 1+ Gigs of HDD space and remove this into your archived titles by hiding it from library.
Really needs some more fluffing out, online co-op, and some balancing but controls are very crisp and runs very smoothlly.
Fun to play for a bit, but needs more incentive to keep going other than maxing out your chassis.
Story would go a ways.
More differentiation between mech chassis as well would help, top incentivize use.
A fun little game! Graphics and sounds are solid. Gameplay and AI are good too. Could use more content and the creaters promised more. I haven't tried multiplayer yet.
Super fun and addictive game. Each time I die, I look forward to spending my hard-earned money to upgrade my tank so I could come back and beat the snot out of my enemies! The mystery boxes at the end of each level are also super cool! I will continue playing the heck out of this game. Hoping for Xbox controller support in the future! Can't wait to see how this game evolves as it spends time in Early Access! Go, Burst2Flame!
This is a great arena style shooter with tanks. The Single Player, aka PVE, has a wonderful level of difficulty. The learning curve is easy and matches the increased difficulty of the game. Use credits earned to upgrade your tank and its weapons. Each weapon has 2-3 upgrade options. Very rewarding when you beat a level. You still get some credits even if failing, so you can still upgrade to get better. The Multiplayer will be much better when steamlink is available. Youll have to connect via IP until steamlink is available. Definitely looking forward to that. It has co-op as well! Overall, totally worth the $5. I hope they continue to support and update this game. There are a few things that needs polishing, but doesnt take away from the experience.
It's stressful yet satisfying! I'm not much of a gamer, but I was able to pick it up and get a double kill!
EDIT: Just beat the game in just over 4 hours... (Just the EA part of the game) and LOVED EVERY MOMENT. Each time you die (you will, promise) you learn a little more and think, one more time, just one more time. I stayed up till 3 A.M. with work in the morning because I couldn't let the stupid A.I. win... For $5, you will love this game. Encountered no bugs (that I know of) and enjoyed every moment. Can't wait for it to be improved with more content.

TL;DR:
This game is great. Has a nice curve of difficulty and gets pretty challenging, but is easy to lose yourself in because "just one more level" is such a possibility. Customizable tanks, upgrades, and weapon sets and you have a unique play style, strategy, and it is all wrapped up in a great looking game. Very few things to fix for an EA title and it is also priced under $5 (USD) as of writing this review. I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who likes those little arcade style shoot them before they shoot you games... only this looks better and won't eat up all your quarters when you die!
Now onto the LONG review!
Let’s list a few things with my experience so far, I will start with the good:
Pros:
Bang for your buck.
It is on sale right now and it is less than $5. So far, I have logged nearly 1 and a half hours in it, and every moment I had something I was working towards, looking forward to, or just laughing about.
Graphics
I really enjoy the looks and effects of the game. The way each level is built is pretty cool in the beginning of the first wave, to the explosions of destroyed enemies, to the different weapon animations. I enjoy the look of the game in all. Looks simple yet good.
The challenge curve.
I haven't gotten SUPER far in the game, but the game starts off easy. Avoid getting hit by the little red dots shot by the pretty dumb enemy while shooting said dumb enemy with your little dots. Move around to gain an advantage and take them out. Seems easy enough. Then it starts getting a little harder and harder. Stronger enemies, different weapons, different movement patterns. In all, each following level gives you something a little harder to challenge you. You go back to previous levels to farm, get little "bonuses" (don't get hit and chain kills), and / or to feel like a mighty tank god and test your "ultimate" set-up on the puny stupid tanks.
Customization
This game has quite a few different weapons with different abilities AND upgrades so you can mix and match to create a unique tank to fit YOUR style of play. Wanna go fast? Upgrade the speed of your tank and speed of your weapons. Wanna hit hard and take a beating? Upgrade your damage and HP. Wanna be unstoppable? Grind for money a little bit and pump up everything and whoop the stupid tanks on level one! Like the primary type of gun so bad you want two of them? Equip the tanks that allow you to equip two primary guns! Really, this game has a ton of great combinations you can try out that work well.
Quick Pick Up, Quick Play
Can you play this game for hours? Yup. Can you play this game for 5 minutes? Sure, probably able to if you have self-control. The levels are easy to get sucked into with only a few waves each level with a boss every couple levels. They get progressively harder and smarter and you find yourself coming back to the game for more to see what the next challenge is.
Personal Challenges
Some levels seem pretty easy and they truthfully are... unless you want to chain each kill on the wave. Or go throughout the whole level without getting hit once. The game offers rewards for the little accomplishments that seem overwhelmingly difficult the moment there are 4-6 enemies on the screen but how rewarding it is to figure out each one's pattern of attack so you can get that wonderful "UNTOUCHABLE" announced at the end of the wave.
Cons
Equipping
Really one of the only things I didn't like too much, was how the equipping seemed too.... immediate? Clicking on a weapon or an ability equipped it automatically when all I wanted to do was see its effects. The issue is it was easy to then jump back into the fight but then have the wrong item(s) equipped. Maybe add a way to back out of a level? Or maybe confirm a weapon switch by making an equip button? On the same subject: Double equipping... Tanks with two particular types of the same weapon, knowing which "slot" the similar type is going to would be helpful. Mostly talking about right click and shift when doing a sniper and artillery type shot. Not a HUGE issue, just some small detail would be great.
No Pick-ups:
I realize you get things at the end of each level and you get credits for each wave, but I enjoy picking up random things because I destroyed something weaker. I think it would be cool if maybe you got a small repair kit for defeating a chain of enemies, or maybe a limited time weapon upgrade, or even a shield that would allow a second chance on the "untouchable" achievement. It isn't terrible they aren't in there, but even an incentive to go pick up more money would be nice every now and then.
Timers and meters
Not knowing how long you have till you lose the chain kill is a little annoying. Sometimes I feel I have an eternity and other times I think, "Oh I got this" and then nothing happens. Another thing would be to make your health a little easier to distinguish. I feel the health bar is so small, I have no idea if I was even hit or not at time until a good portion of my health was taken away.
Blurry recap
I dunno if it's because my resolution is off, I don't have the right settings, or what, but at the end of a level during the re-cap, everything is blurry. I can hardly make out the recap stats to see how well I did (or didn't do). Not sure what the issue is, so meh.
Overall, I would totally recommend this game. I know it is Early Access and many just say no to EA titles, but really, even if you get only an hour out of this game because the devs abandon it and a "game breaking bug" causes you to lose everything for $6, you got your money's worth and then some... easily.
Just buy it and try it out, you really have so little to lose!
PS: Devs don't you dare abandon this game... It is an amazing game and has amazing potential to become a great hit with many people. Keep tweaking it and making it all that much better.
This game starts off easy enough, but don't be fooled. I thought I had the best set up ever, that is until I got to world 4.
World 4 is a beast. Great game though. I'm looking forward to better skills being released so I can actually beat this darn level i've been stuck on! Or I guess I could just get better at the game...
Game is now out or early access and I so far i've gotten to world 6! This game is hard but fun!
Man, I've been looking for a game like this for a long time. This is like that Tanks! game on Wii Play on steriods. I love that I'm able to customize and upgrade my skills. Also I love opening crates of loot and seeing goodies pop out! Definatley, definatley worth every penny and then some! Can't wait for this game to be fully complete!
Edit: The game is now out of EA and has added some sweet features since my last edit. I really love how I can send items to my buddies when I play now!
