To be very clear, Quests Unlimited is a game that you don't have to actively play. There's no mechanics requiring twitch reflexes or any sort of competitive pvp or the like. This is a game for people who enjoy older style rpg's but don't have the time to invest into the progression systems of those style of games. The goal is to give the player the satisfying feeling of progression without having to invest their entire life in a game. This kind of game is not for everyone so please be aware of what this product is trying to be and not expect it to be something else.
This game can and will play completely by itself, but that doesn't mean it always should! Take advantage of the lower cool-downs of player initiated skills. Drink potions to keep your party members in the fight. Upgrade strategically to aid your chances in encounters. There are ways to be active in the game to make progression faster and more lucrative, so by all means keep the game active and enjoy yourself. Just know that the game will continue playing and everything will be fine even if you're called away from your computer unexpectedly.

Rating: 2 out of 5 - This game is equivalent to the liquid leftovers you leave in your toilet after a taco 12 pack. I believe this game can only be enjoyed by someone who doesn't have eyeballs. Ears are unaffected due to there being absolutely no sound effects in the entire game. My Question after playing for 40 minutes, is how & why?
It's like a 3D version of Progress Quest in some ways, though there is no offline progression. That's fine with me, since I run the game while I'm doing other things around the house and check in from time to time. It looks like the game hasn't been updated in some time, which is sad, but for the price, I feel good about my purchase. I wish there were more games like this for those of us that can't spend time playing games because of a busy lifestyle, and like me, who has DJD in my thumbs and am physically unable to use a mouse or gamepad for any length of time. The game is not for everyone, but I love it and looking forward to today's update!!! There's so much potential for people like me!!
Really pleased to have found this game. I've been playing some of the free clicker/idle games, but really wanted something more like this.
Early days, but looking good. Very relaxing to watch my Party Adventure and complete quests. Soothing music. I have it running on my second screen and just let them get on with it.
The basics are in place. It is playable and enjoyable. Bargain price. Waiting to see how it develops, but had my monies worth already.
Thanks Oxrock Studio. Hoping to see more of this...
As others have said, there's a good engine here but simply no meat on its bones; no progression, no incrimental mechanics, in short no gameplay. The UI is rough and rugged, but there's a tutorial that walks you painfully through every element of it, reminding you to click next to continue, and that the "cost" field indicates the cost of an upgrade.
I'll change my review up as more patches are added for more content. As of now, the game isn't nearly worth $4. More around $1, if not less. Maybe add a talent tree, better gold gain, dungeons, etc.
As of now, there is only a few things in the game.
*Gear - You start out with a full set of gear of random rarity, that seemingly have no effect on actual stats, and don't have any special effects.
*Leveling - Enemies scale with you, so to be honest, levels in this game are absolutely worthless. You don't even earn skill points, or abilities. Maybe add a map that allows the player to farm lower level areas with lower quests, and challenge higher level areas if they want to. But yeah, basically there is no point in having levels without things like Talents, gear balance/unique gear, or leveled zones.
*Gold - The ramp up on cost to level gear gets pretty up there rather quickly. When your team feels too weak to do much, you'll maybe have enough to add a few things to a SINGLE character. I'm talking about 3-9 HP and an some into attack. After 7 hours in the game, I've maybe gotten a total of 26,000 gold.
*Not all to do - For an idle game, there is nothing to earn, nothing to focus on. There is 100% nothing. Gear seemingly auto equips for best, or levels with you, I haven't paid attention. All I know is that I came back after sleeping to my equips having 17 upgrade slots, and higher stats. That means that really the only true interactive part of the game is also automated, and spending gold on Gear is pointless because 1. The cost, and 2. you're just gonna find better gear that overtakes it, so you might as well use gold to level that gear, BUT that gear will be overtaken as well.
Dissapointing and uninteresting, would not recommend.
1. No idle offline progression, no clicker mechanics, no incremental mechanics, no meta progression (resets etc).
2. The action in the 3d world is not interesting to watch. Every single encounter plays out exactly the same forever.
3. The RPG mechanics are not interesting. The loot is never special or interesting, characters dont gain new skills. You don't feel a sense of progression.
This engine has potential to run a really sweet automated idle or incremental game where you log in a few times a day tweaking your groups items, skills, and missions. Sadly Quests Unlimited doesn't have any of that.
I would price this game at $0.99 until more interesting mechanics are added.
love the game basically plays itself with minimal input, needs more content but considering its in early access im assuming thats coming next!
I picked up Quests Unlimited the other day for myself, but mostly for my kid, who's 12 years old, as he loves these types of games. The price was awesome so it wasn't even a gamble to take a chance on. I love to support new indie games where possible and often times find little diamond's in the ruff, like this one.
Anyhow, this is a great little game with a very new and indie look to it that I adore (think Cube World, Roblox, etc) but in this case, more in-depth gameplay design, which is the core of what keeps me and my son coming back to play more.
For the price I paid, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who loves indie games, like we do. This is coming from someone who doesn't bother to review games, but in this case, I felt compelled to review such a cool little game since it is just coming out for early access.
I could probably cook an egg on my computer after just a short amount of playing this game, but it seems to hit all the spots. I might want to see some clearer in-game indicators more readily - as it is, it's hard to see what still needs to be upgraded. I'll update this as I learn more about the game. :)
