Witness one ball's quest to defy gravity in this action-packed metaphor for the inevitable entropic decay of the universe. Hit targets and score points, as your predictive faculties are stressed to the limit by elementary chaos theory. Play skilfully, and earn the right to attempt the Infinite Tower of Peril bonus round. Fight your way up an ascending hierarchy you can't possibly complete for the vague promise of materialistic reward.

Schöne Idee, komplett vermurkst:
(-) Langweilige Tische mit übler Physik und unfairem Gameplay. 3 Schwierigkeitsgrade machen das Spiel nicht wirklich besser. Hände weg!
(+) Die Musik erinnert an Gameboy's Revenge of the Gator.
_________
A nice idea, screwed up badly:
(-) Boring table(s) with bad physics and unfair gameplay. Three difficulty settings do NOT really make a poor game better. I honestly dont't get the positive reviews on this one...
(+) The sound tracks reminds me of Revenge of the 'Gator on Gameboy
This game is quite fun, but I had a bit of difficulty getting the bonus round
ENG:
Nice pinball, very retro, quite difficult, if you like pinballs and you are an old man like me who had the NES, it will surely entertain you for a while. The price is affordable.
ESP:
Lindo pinball, muy retro y bastante difícil.
Si te gustan los pinballs y sos un viejo como yo que jugaba al family seguramente te entretenga un rato.
El precio es barato.
Not bad. I do enjoy pinball and pixel arts. I appreciate a game that lets me see the whole board at once, instead of zooming in to make sure I don't miss the high res graphics. If they release another game with multiple pinball boards for similar price, I'll buy that too.
I do wish I could go straight to the random level without playing through the normal level first, though.
I've been on a bit of a pinball kick recently so I picked this up. And it's honestly pretty fun. Not the most amazing pinball game you'll ever play, but it's still enjoyable. It has a retro look and sound to it, and wouldn't look out of place on an NES. A few of the reviews call it "ugly" and say it sounds bad. Well it's meant to have a retro look and feel to it.
There's one board, of course themed a bit around steampunk. It's pretty primitive but it does have an addctive quality to it. You can tilt the table, and actually do so over and over and the table doesn't seem to stop responding. This allows you to get your ball out of the drain like 90% of the time. Also, hilariously, one of the achievements is broken. So you can "accumulate 50,000,000 points" with just one point.
The main draw here is the bonus round. After you fill two pipes at the top of the board you get transported to a randomized bonus level where you basically just need to get your ball as high as you can before time runs out. Depending on how high you get, you can collect some in game stickers as a little bonus. Not much, but it's something.
Normally it's about the cost of a large coffee, and I got it on sale for less then a dollar. It's easily worth the money if you're up for some pinball but want something a little different.
Good game.
One table. Retro graphic. Retro sound. Retro gameplay. Interesting ideas. Additivity. Lot of fun. My positive mark.
nice retro pinball game
Quite the neat little pinball game. I love the classic pixelated graphics and honestly the novelty of it is simple breathtaking. Well worth a look if you have not already, right price for a great game! Cheers! - Darkendone
This game has a lot more to offer than I thought from my first impressions. Let me start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of pinball, pinball simulations, and pinball related games, which is the reason I initially purchased this game. My first impression was that the game had few options, wonky physics, and a charming theme. After playing for a while, though, I finally saw some of the deeper table elements and modes, and I really started to appreciate the attention to detail.
Pros: Interesting and challenging modes, good music and theming
Cons: Physics can be weird sometimes, I can't find a way to adjust controls, I don't care at all for the trophy art
Overall, while this is not my favorite pinball game on Steam, it does offer a unique experience for pinball pros and novices alike. If you like pinball, I think this one is definitely worth the price.
I recommend this good game of pinball and it's bonus stage. I'd like to see another pinball game made and maybe a 3D version. I also like the secret stuff in the game like the custom balls that can be unlocked with codes.
This game is pretty awesome. Nice retro feel to it. The controls are pretty good as well. Very fun. Hidden Gem. If you like retro style pinball, this would be the game to play.
This is a great example of a game delivering exactly what it promises. It's 2d pinball. It's reasonably priced and it's a good time. I like the Pinball FX3 stuff as much as anybody but sometimes you don't want Tony Stark running around on your table. This is a solid game with some nice surprises and a great 8 bit-ish soundtrack. The mechanics are solid and it feels like pinball. It's 2 bucks! Get out there and have some fun.
I have quite a few different pinball programs on Steam, as well as a few outside of Steam, and this is the game I start with every time.
Why?
Its super easy to play. No complicated rules to learn, just start shooting. No fancy 3d graphics (thus the title), which makes it easy to handle on very moderate hardware (such as my aging laptop.)
The developer is very active, squashing any bugs that show up, listiening to players comments and making adjustments according to the comments.
Contests. These are neat. At this time, the winner gets to select a skin for the ball in play, and its added to the game with a password. The password can (and usually is) passed out in the discussions for all to use.
I usually decide to play one game, and end up in the 'just one more' scenario.
Totally thumbs up!
This paragraph here is an update, a few years later. Development seems to have ceased, therefore there are some struck-out sections below, and I won't get my hopes up for new features soon. But that is not to say that the game in its current state isn't enjoyable already. It's a well-rounded package, with a little quirk here or there, but all in all a neat, little pinball game. What you see in the trailer is what you get, and once you get past a little initial weirdness it becomes quite an enjoyable passtime.
Original review:
SSP2D is a simple but fun pinball game. It contains a single main table and is focused around the bonus round, AKA the Infinite Tower of Peril. In the bonus round your objective is to climb as high as possible while a timer ticks down mercilessly. The tower is generated randomly each time you enter it. The main table provides no higher goal than reaching the bonus round, and the overall goal is getting a good score. Stickers are awarded for the bonus round, so collecting them all can get a bit grindy.
Music and sounds are joyful 8-bit tracks fitting the steampunk theme, and the art is detailed but clear and not distracting.
The physics are consistent and easy to pick up. Anyone with just a bit of experience in pinball should easily get around in this one. True pinball wizards may sink multiple hours into a single game. I know I have. (A "Save game" option is planned as of writing this.)
The devs are actively talking with the community, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and usually resolved quickly. The community, small as it is right now, is just as welcoming and friendly.
There are also contests held each month, with the prize being suggesting a ball design to be included into the game. Usually these designs are accessed via cheat code, but good ideas can get included into the official roster and unlocked through achievements.
All in all, this game is simple, but challenging enough to come back to again and again. I've been playing for several months and it still hasn't lost its charme. Recommended for pinball enthusiasts, wizards and anything inbetween.
A nice classic pinball game, plays pretty good. Nice work!
Loved the quirky steam-punky elements of the game. The physics are well done, with the pinball simulation feeling really authentic -- right down to being able to jostle the machine to last-ditch save the ball.
Worth the price. Recommended.
really fun game and i love pinball.great that linux was supported.
Fun little game, the price is right.
