Diablo clone in Warhammer setting Can't go wrong with that
Purchased this on sale for $2.99 and it was worth it. Had to change the difficulty to hard because it was too easy. The final boss was a chump even on hard.
If you like Warhammer and collecting all the games in the franchise, buy it, play it, and have fun. However, I cannot recommend this game as an ARPG game. First of all, game is too easy and the funny thing is, when you choose to play harder options, the game doesn't get any harder, only the NPCs' HP increases :D Speaking of NPC's they have the worst AI I've ever seen. They're just mindlessly running around. There is also something clunky about the gameplay that I can not describe right now, but it is always there.
Great world and excellennt concept, but nothing feels impactful or properly fleshed out. It lacks the depth one expects from a Warhammer gaym or an ARPG.
If its on a good special, get it. Play through once..
This game and Vermintide makes me sad when i play them, because i get reminded that we never get any Rpg´s in the rich Warhammer fantasy universe. This game and Warhammer Quest is the closest we got and i cheerish every moment i play this game
**** IT TAKES A WHILE TO SLOWLY UNLOCK DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE GAME LIKE STORES, ITEM USES, ETC. ***
I have to start by saying that because it's taken me close to 5 hours to start getting the usual aspects of the game unlocked and usable to the player. I see a lot of bad reviews that haven't put the amount of hours in required to see the other aspects unlocked to them so they think the game is boring and repetitive and all you do is collect loot, swap gear, and keep killing. It took a while to even be able to donate loot, and you do that wellll before you get to visit a store and use the money you've been collecting since the start of your character lol, let alone sell your found loot for cash.
I think a lot of the bad reviews stem from how slowly the stores (and whatever other "outside of combat" things that exist in the main hub) unlock to the player. I don't see that as an inherently bad thing, they developers chose this pace for whatever reasons they had. Regardless, if someone else decides it's not for them, for me I've been having fun just playing the game as it's been presented. If the combat was boring, and nothing about it was fun, I'd put my review as a thumbs down. But to rate the game based on your impatience is kinda not cool.
The combat is fun, and as you'd expect from your typical ARPG. I would put this on the more average/simpler side of an ARPG. Maybe what Halo Wars is to other RTS's in the genre. The graphics are very nice, and I'm personally really into this era of the Warhammer universe, ala Vermintide (my actual #1 favorite game of all time). I'm not even a hardcore Warhammer fan. I know very close to ZERO of the lore lol, and have never once played any of the tabletop version of the game.
All that to say, if you're even remotely interested in adding another ARPG to your library, this game seems to always be on a sale, and for very cheap most of the time, I'd recommend you get it. I'm enjoying it, it's on my current rotation of games and have been choosing this over going back to Diablo 3 and 4 for what that's worth. Just go into it knowing that the pacing of unlocking "out of quest"/main hub aspects is on the slower side. What you start off doing isn't the only thing you'll be doing through the entirety of your time playing lol
Game is bloody good! A solid or 7 or 8/10 for this i'd give! Chaosbane is a great arpg, don't compare it with diablo, grim dawn or POE! But this good on its own, nice storyline and quality is life wonderful, it doesn't rush you into the action but at your own pace!
GO PLAY!
simply, is horrible. I regret paying money for this crap
As far as ARPGs go, this isn't it. Far too limited, repetitive and unremarkable to be enjoyable.
Good: Sound, visuals, looks like warhammer
Stuff I didn't like:
I only got to level 16 on a dwarf slayer. I had no idea what splinters or gold was for until I died, and I guess they were resources to resurrect?
Enemies are massive health sponges that do almost no damage, until bosses which do extreme amounts of damage. I was playing other ARPGs before deciding to give this one a try, and this one felt like I was running through molasses trying to beat on enemies while wearing no gear.
Running around on my own I was starting to wonder if health pools were built for multi-player? I usually had to result to using full rage on bosses, and it would still only do half their health. The last half of their health would be a long protracted battle I could almost never get hit or risk dying, but my attacks would do almost nothing.
There is no talent system, instead you have a certain number of points to equip abilities, each ability being worth a certain number of points. This leads do you only using 1-2 attacks and a couple passives. So you don't even fill up your full action bar.
The slayer would constantly get stuck after using a movement ability. I would also constantly get stuck on terrain.
The melee rage generators were slow hitting, really bad damage. The ranged ability generated negligibly less rage, but it attacked faster, from range, and did more damage. But you had to hit three times with each rage generator before you could use a spender, so you basically always did pitiful damage.
After dying to the first real boss I wasn't left with a desire to learn the attack patterns and suffer through another 15+ minute fight after re clearing the whole map, so I just uninstalled and went back to other ARPG games.
Simple Diablo game. The atmosphere and characters are all loyal to the lore and it's a fun story. I play it when I want to chill and be in the warhammer world. (lots of hours on playstation a few years ago)
If you own a SteamDeck and you like repetitive looters, this is the game you want to buy for 3.99
Solid Game
I think its a good game if you buy it in decent sale. Just mindless ARPG
This is the best 4-player couch coop / 4-player remote play ARPG period. You can't beat the value of remote play if you have fast internet and 3 friends; get this game and all the DLC next time it's on sale! Max lv is 50 and there are 1200+ useful "paragon" levels beyond that. There are several end game activities and satisfying gear progression / skill / passive / god passive / legendary trait customization. Respec's are free and difficulty is scale-able beyond very hard and into 10 additional chaos levels. If you are a experienced ARPGer lay play on very hard right away for sure. The only con is here is there is not alot of tileset variety. 9/10.
This is a fun hack and slasher. The kind of game where you can just turn off your brain and kill mobs. It reminded me alot of the old Champions of Norrath games on PS2. When I had completed the main questline, I took a crack at the end game and I decided that re running old content just to get marginally better gear wasnt going to keep me playing longer. While there are higher quality sets, with set bonuses, there was nothing about the gameplay that would drive me to grind.
I paid less that $3 for the game and if you see it on sale, pick it up. I had a fun 21 hours.
This game sucked me in in the literal sense of the word, in my opinion this is the best game I recommend to everyone!
Game is okay. Company that included the micro transactions is garbage. Simple as that. You don't make people pay for boosts.
A Simplistic, and by the numbers ARPG that has a bit too much padding with it's pacing and quest, but is still a blast to play, and all things with the hit and miss history of Warhammer games, it could have been worse.
Recommended but try to get it on a sale if you can.
If you like diablo you will this game.
As ARPG:s go there are fare superior games out there:
- Path of Exile
- Grim Dawn
- Diablo 3
- Titan Quest
- Torchligght 2
If you're looking for a warhammer lore fix while enjoying some gameplay. Buy an audiobook and play a better game. The lore is middling at best and the gameplay is boring. I first picked up this game around launch, it felt like a flawed gem. But since launch (almost 1 year as of writing) there has been a few more acts (1-3 hours of gameplay) a new character and e few minor tweaks. But no larger fixes to some of the fundamentally broken skills and gearsets. I would not recommend, not even on a sale
I love me a mindless ARPG I can play with friends. TBH though I am just neutral on this one. Alone, it is defiantly a slog, however, the game offers shared screen multiplayer, so for me thats a perk. I love me a brainless game with friends like the old clunkyness of baulders gate dark alliance or champions of norrath on my old ps2. Gave me those vibes, i like though vibes. Clearly not very polished but thats clearly not why I bought it for less than $3usd
A fun and unique action RPG,
Very easy on normal difficulty - but you can change the difficulty mid game, so it's not an issue.
I didn't follow the story so much but the combat is fun.
several game modes after you finish a "dungeon".
Great graphics, voices and sound.
I recommend this game!
I have played Grim Dawn and Last Epoch and I have enjoyed both. Is this game better then those two. Depends on what you are looking for the more fantasy feel with Elfs, dwarfs, etc grabs me I also like that setting. It also makes me want to try out other Warhammer games.
Runs great on Steam Deck. Controller support is good. For me it is even better than M&K.
In general this hack'n slash feels underwhelming.
Stiff and bland movement and combat. Feedback and userinterface (inventory, skill tree) are disappointing. Monster diversity is lacking, too.
Cheap game for a cheap price.
Story has atmosphere. Your town environment is dead though with stupid long walks between points of interest.
Glory to the empire
Decent Diablo look-alike
Easy on Normal Mode (probably too easy for vets) so a good one to try if you're a noob.
Excellent look
Very fast gameplay
Good maps
No need to keep using portals to sell loot.
Fully voice acted and well voice acted.
Unlocked god skills can make your character almost invincible on normal (pro or con but a con for me)
Even before god skills I died just once and only cuz I literally tuned out for a quite a few seconds.
its not BAD, it just doesnt do much to mix anything up, its just a bog standard dungeon crawler, it doesnt really throw anything in the way of tasks at you other than "go here, mash through hordes of enemys, then beat the boss at the end", there are parts you have to light torches or destroy certain tombs before progressing but other than that its very vanilla, the SKILLS on the other hand are VERY fun, all weapons have 3 tiers of power to them and by the time you reach level 3 you just become a god laying waste to everything that stands in your way. its just an "ok" little action dungeon crawler.
killing chaos demons is fun
ver guj
