Описание
A gifted sorceress, Juliane von Westerholz's royal duties include eating tasty snacks, lazing in bed and sometimes vaguely threatening her tutors and caretakers. Life takes a tumble, however, when her unlikely curiosity falls victim to a strange artifact, and she soon winds up somewhere unfamiliar.
. . . Unfamiliar, and yet also a bit disappointing?
"I don't recognise anything from around here, but at the same time, I have this overwhelming feeling that it's really bog standard in every way. Why is that?"
So begins the tale of a magical prodigy, in an average land far, far away.
Memento of Spring is an all-ages, comedy/slice-of-life visual novel with no player choices.

This VN is actually a comedy. You won't be able to read 3 sentences without a joke being thrown, so don't expect a serious story.
The English writing, which is the original language, is good. I've barely seen any mistakes. However, the storytelling is first timer level. This VN is ludicrously long winded and slow paced. It gives the impression of a homework being artificially inflated with words to meet a quota. This 12-15 hours VN could've been written to be a 3 hours VN and only gain in quality from it.
The characters are not believable humans. It has a lot to do with them only trying to joke or be funny with sarcasm, but also their complete nonsensical decision making and thought process.
We are sadly stuck "being" the worst character (Lily) for the vast majority of the story,
The ending is incredibly unsatisfying. It's what cemented my decision to leave this negative review.
Why set a story in Japan purposefully but not have characters use honorifics?
The dev/writer has potential, but they need serious work on the basics of story telling, and they need some proof readers to help cut off the massive amount of useless fat. I think with more experience they can one day release something quite good.
For this one, I cannot recommend anyone spending money on a VN like this when there are so many masterpieces on Steam and other stores.
Cute, silly game that at times doesn't make a lick of logical sense but has a quirky fun charm keeping you going through to the end.
Memento of Spring
Short and sweet
Nice story
Eh.
I feel like I might have liked this when I was an edgy teenage girl, constantly plotting world domination with my friends.
Completely wholesome, no adult content (except occasional references to death/murder/world domination).
The story goes:
confusing and slightly annoying - confusing but potentially interesting - funny - tedious - aggravatingly tedious - hopeful that the end is coming - annoying - tedious - mildly interesting - starting to get tedious again - urgh when will this end - wait was that really the end? Phew. - no wait, it wasn't. - oh look the real end, that feels even less like the end!
Honestly it should have ended by achievement 8. After that point it just becomes stalling and padding. Not that it doesn't have some amusing moments after that point of course. But I don't think it was really worth reading after the apple-lanche.
Spoiler alert; the obnoxious brat doesn't grow as a person, but her prescence is watered down later in the story when there are 5-6 other characters around to help reduce how much screen time she gets. But then it amps up again when the number of characters drops back down. And at the very end I think we're supposed to feel like she's changed or something?
Perhaps a touch too meandering at times, Memento of Spring is a light, cozy read that I enjoyed a lot. Charming despite - and a little because of - its roughness in places, much like its main character.
It's indulgently long and just full of cute girls goofing off and trying to deal with an adorable princess of calamity. Low stakes, no fear, what's better than this?
Lenghty. Not mind shattering story, but decent enough to keep it interesting.
Recommended.
This is one of the most ridiculous, hilarious things I've ever seen. Somewhat slow start, but after that, every fifth line makes me giggle.
I found this charming, though I'm sure the sort of humor in this won't land with everyone. The first chapter is honestly kindof boring. The second one confused me a bit. Then it starts moving, and while the story isn't uniquely original or anything, it's pretty well done? especially considering this is dirt cheap, and was on sale when I got it. It is kinetic, so warning there, but give it a shot. It's cute for what it is. Also decently long for being like. $1.

Memento of Spring
Developer: Bright Onion Studios

Type: Kinetic Novel (No Choices/Routes)
Memento of Spring is an excellent kinetic novel for those new to these types of games, or if you want something that you can just relax to. It utilizes a cute art style for the characters and gorgeous backgrounds setting the scene for this KN. The soundtrack consists of lovely piano melodies that come together with the story.
Positives:
Excellent for newcomers to VNs
Art is high quality
Soundtrack is relaxing
Neutrals:
Story can feel a bit average to experienced VN players
Negatives:
Pacing might feel prolonged during the middle as a main character likes to stray multiple times from the original objective.
The ending may feel sudden, leaving some plot holes.
Score:
7/10 GOOD

In all my years of playing visual novels, both good and bad, i've never come across one that would fill me with as much pure concentrated boredom as this game did.
The writing in this game is very awkward. All characters sound the same in their manners of speech, as well as more than half of the gameplay is due to the narrative going and talking about meaningless things. Characters talk in a way that sound less like the characters actually thought of that, and more just that the creator wanted to shoehorn in as much complicated english terms as possible for it to look smart. There's quite a lot of standing around talking about nothing important compared to the amount of rising action for the plot.
Characters don't behave realistically at all, which I can overlook for the magical world portion of characters, but the IRL characters act bizarre as well. In the end there wasn't really anything interesting about this story, nor was there really much to get to enjoy out of the characters, since they all act rather one dimensional. There wasn't really much of anything to take away from this story. So in the end it was a story without really a goal in mind. As a VN I'd say it is definitely the "bog-standard" of mediocrity.
Juliane is my spirit animal!
Interesting story, I loved the art of most of the characters. The idea about sending people into a different world would have been done better, like I really wanted to see their reaction of more modern things, like cars, trains and so own, not just manga ...
I really wish that the developers will gave us more of these characters, but I dont think that will going to happen since the ending,
Still it is a nice little kinetic novel, nothing groundbreaking, also a bit short, and has some repeating stuff over and over, but overall, I would give it a 7/10
I only bought this for two reasons; catgirl, and because my friend recommended it to me. Having said that, Memento of Spring provided me much more than I could have ever expected. I found all characters and their dialogues very entertaining and consistent throughout the entire story, which was surprisingly much longer than I had anticipated at an estimated 10 hours. Plenty of laughs were to be had, and the narrative and presentation made it surprisingly easy to get immersed. The background music is primarily piano tracks that do a superb job at maintaining the tone of the story and scenarios without being intrusive. It's a shame the soundtrack isn't available as a separate DLC (as of writing this review, that is).
Overall I definitely recommend Memento of Spring. It has enough story content to justify its price, and moreso if it goes on sale. Definitely a hidden gem of a story that I fear will go overlooked simply because of its relatively simple-looking artstyle. If I had anything to compare it to, I'd say it's like a lighter and funnier fault:milestone one. Definitely worth looking into if you enjoy visual novels, or want a good lengthy story.
Memento of Spring is, at it's heart, a good VN. It's funny, the art is pleasant and varied, the music is good enough to just leave on and do background tasks to. The story is simple enough: There's a 12 year old magician with a serious attitude problem who ends up going on a journey. That's the concise way to put the entire thing.
While cute and charming, I found that dialogue seemed to run on and on. I would say that 80% of the dialogue is spent talking about how much of a glutton Juliane is. That sounds like I'm overestimating but if I am, it's only by a little. the humor loses a lot of it's impact when you keep having the point hammered into you over and over again. Beyond what I consider a repetitive way to conduct dialog, this is one of the better visual novels I've read through. The end even left me yearning for a sequel though given how scant any information on Bright Onion Studios is, I feel it'll never come.
Check it out. Even when it's not on sale, I consider it time well spent.
A good memento to start spring, Interesting characters and story.
I knew I was on to something when I purchased a certain story advertised for catering to the fond of spoiled princesses. I was not wrong, Juliane has now forever been immortalized into the proud collection of my favorite characters.
Overall this was an excellent novel, every component of it was detailled, thorough and expertly crafted. The characters were the favorite part for me, the entirety of the cast is very memorable and very enjoyable to read. These characters are also quite well designed, and have lifelike flaws and virtues, well rounded and appealingly complex. Quite a few surprises about why they act in a certain way will become apparent.
This being a visual novel, is quite dialogue heavy, which I enjoyed. Clever and witty conversations are the order of the day, and my free time became that much better for it. It has genuinely hilarious jokes, and all too often I found myself giggling at its somewhat dark humor.
The cast is all female, which I found enjoyable and maybe you will too. Many of these characters are consistently introduced later as the story advances, which means you will always have interesting new characters enter the story.
Also, note that this is a Kinetic novel, which means it features no choices. It is also not a romance novel, yuri novel or anything of the sort (which is good, given the age of the main character). Truth be told, the story is so good on its own that I did not miss these dating elements on the slightest.
Overall I thoroughly recommend this novel, it gave me more wonderful things to entertain my mind with. I am thankful to the authors for providing me with this lovely experience. 5/5 stars, all the way through.
This, well this happens to be the second visual novel I've ever managed to play to completion.
I read rather fast, so it took me a little over an hour to finish this, but now that it's over, I'm feeling something I haven't felt in a long time. The sort of emotion you feel after you've finished a great series, be it games, books, or movies, and you've just set down the book, or shut off the television.
And that's when it hits you. It's over.
You've finished. There's nothing left to do. You know the story, you know the characters, and unless you really feel like it, you're probably never going to play this again.
I doubt many others will feel the same way, but I hope that at least a few people will read this and pick up this story. It's trully one of the best I have had the honor of witnessing recently.
Bright Onion Studios? I've never hear of you before this, but thank you. Thank you for letting me partake in this beautiful story.
This kinetic visual novel by Bright Onion Studios features a young teenage girl with a pair of cat ears, an unusual magical aptitude, large delusions of grandeur, a complete lack of manners with people around her and a sharp wit Juliane von Westerholz as the Calamity Princess. Being under the care of her guardian Amalie Pennywhistle who both live together in a seaside town within a medieval kingdom of Marsalis, Juliane has a daily routine of eating large amounts of food and sleeping long hours each time whenever not causing damage to neighbours' property while Amalie has to pay for both of their daily living expenses and apologize to neighbours on her behalf while reporting Juliane's progress to the Royal Lanviere Academy who have paid for both of their living expenses.
One day, the Royal Lanviere Academy sent a young researcher Autumn to be Juliane's private tutor while a local thief Eleta Foxton happened to steal a mirror from a local merchant Constance and hide it inside Juliane's room. Later on, as Juliane was attempting to impress Autumn and Amalie with a magical feat, it caused Juliane and later Autumn to be brought to a modern unnamed Japanese town in Nara Prefecture where they are both received by the town's inhabitants Lily and Yukari who both work at a train station cafe Cafe Mocha Matcha Tea House, Kokone who works at the Mocha Matcha Music Store above the cafe, Hitomi who works at a small convenience store Green Garden and a young budding artist Tsukiko. While Juliane sees no problem imposing and freeloading on her new hosts and friends who have been kind and hospitable to Juliane and Autumn's arrival as tourists from a distant land, Autumn is worried about Juliane's unseemly conduct with her hosts in the new foreign land and is anxious to leave the place and bring Juliane home to Amalie's care.
After spending over 6 hours to read through and listen to the accompanying background music in this visual novel, I decided to give the game a score of 8/10 based on the following factors:
Plot and character backgrounds: The story and plot is written as a dramedy with fantasy and plenty of humour in the form of witty dialogue and parodies. The pacing of this visual novel is also appropriate with Juliane and Eleta causing the characters around them to display feelings of surprise, annoyance or hostility initially to eventual acceptance of their character and actions that often conflict with each different character. As a fantasy visual novel, featuring two different settings at different time periods make this visual novel interesting. Among the character backgrounds, it felt somewhat disappointing. Although Juliane is the featured main character in this visual novel, Juliane's cat ears were never explained throughout the story where she either wouldn't say or she pretended not to notice her ears resemble that of a cat. The supporting character Lily also seems one-dimensional where all she does is following Juliane around and working at the cafe under Yukari and little else to tell more about her character or background.
Artwork: The artwork in the cover, character sprites, CGs and achievements are great by being colourful and attractive to grab the attention of the reader and to showcase on Steam profile. I hope to see this game qualify for Steam trading cards in future.
Background music: The game has pleasant piano music and generally match the happy themes in this visual novel as a comedy with drama. My favourite BGM are Remember Yesterday with a Smile, Happiness is an Apple Strudel and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Overall, recommended when at discount or bundle offer for those who like a short to medium length(5-30 hours) kinetic visual novel featuring an all-female cast of characters, a dramedy with fantasy and two different settings and time periods, cute and colourful artwork, nice background music and easy achievements that are non-missable.
This turned out to be quite a fun read. Juliane's behaviour is quite unique in its way. Just because your smart doesn't mean you can act as your above everybody else.
