Totally crap
Close to recommend, but too many inexcusable problems. I really like the concept of the "pick your own line" racing game, and I really wanted to like this one, but its just too frustrating to play.
Lets start with the most important:
Glitches _hard_ when loading new scenery areas on GeForce Now. it is not a connectivity problem, which makes the next few seconds of frames go to more compression or lower quality. No, the game is not feeding GeForce Now with new frames to send to my computer, so both video and audio are perfect quality but just straight up missing while it is loading., while your truck is in motion and probably smashing into something while you are waiting for the next frame to get created some 2 seconds later.
When you get into a speed controlled checkpoint, the auto driver freaks out, makes your truck do donuts, hit things on the edge which at best damage your truck but sometimes make you go disqualified.
Even with the graphics cranked up, there is no way to see and avoid soft sand, pick out rocks among bushes, etc which takes the game from this could be a fun challenge to just random results.
The waypoint system and co-driver are annoying AF. Pick a different line around a tall dune instead of going over it, to a checkpoint that is multiple km away, both the "WP" indicator and the co-driver freak out about you being off track. THAT IS THE POINT OF THIS GAME! I wish the "clock" indidcator for the next must get to point was displayed all the time, that is very useful. The WP on compass and co-driver are not at all.

This has to be the funniest racing game i've ever played.
Better than Dakar Desert Rally in almost every way.
Some might consider this game an acquired taste, but it's damn satisfying if you do acquire the taste for it. A showcase of when it comes to terrain, a straight line isn't always the fastest route.

The game's alright. I would recommend Dakar Desert Rally tho.
Honestly i regret buying this! there is no 1 main overal goal and options to set one. would love to get my spent amaunt on this game to my steam profile! #ASAP
graphics is OK, playability is TERRIBLE, dont wast your money on this game
The premise of open world navigation coupled with motorsports was intriguing enough to have a look. Sadly, the game lost me during the first few minutes of the tutorial - there's a muddy patch that you'll have to traverse, and despite the offroady nature of a game bearing the name DAKAR, the sensation of "driving through mud" just was'nt there. If you played Mudrunners before, you'll likely be in the same boat.
Same goes for driving on sand, which you'll be doing alot - there just isn't any finesse present in application of throttle or brakes. Pedal to the metal is all you gotta do. The vehicles simply do not feel alive. Will have another try, but i'm 95% sure it's going to be a refund (over a three bucks product!).
Even Forza Horizons has better sand ... well, and a physics based driving model! :E
I can say without a doubt , this game is a winner. We can sit here and nit-pick all day long like some other reviews which say the co-driver is screaming, it doesn't support VR blah blah blah... but show me another game that costs $2,99 (on sale) with 2 out of 3 DLC that is free and gives you this kind of cool driving experience in unique conditions with a variety of vehicles and the ability to be PvP as well. Not many games like this out there at this price! Pick it up, you can thank me later.
