I've personally never had to maneuver a neurotic cow around an ice rink, but I'd imagine it feel exactly like the steering in this game.
Give these guys props for original idea. I"m sure in time that they will add more things like better upgrades, more arena's even story mode.
I like it so far. Quite fun.
I really want to like this game. I want to like it and recommend it.
The art style, the voice acting, music and general vibe are amazing. The intro narration is both cheesy and unironically good, But as soon as you start playing, it falls apart.
The car physics are odd and kind of unpredictable, hitting jumps and walls makes you bounce WILDLY and all the reset button does is set you upright, if you're stuck on top of something that's it for your run. The camera is bumpy and twitchy, meaning it'll move randomly even if you have an enemy directly in your crosshairs just because you hit a bump, not even mentioning the frustratingly TINY range it has without going to the settings and turning on a setting that allows it to rotate 360 but disqualifies you from leaderboards. Why is that a thing? Why not just allow rotation? It feels amazing to be able to trade shots as you drive by, not just have to run enemies directly down.
On a positive the art style is amazing, the enemy cars are varied and I love how the different factions even have different vehicles instead of just recolored models (the vans in particular do a very good job of showing character), but the lack of *literally any* customization for your own vehicle, not even paint color, leaves something to be desired.
While the audio, and arena ambience is amazing, with the announcements blaring over the chaos, the lack of subtitles makes it legitimately difficult, even frustrating, to hear a lot of what is being said, meaning I can't even appreciate the clever writing.
I hope to be able to come back and give this game a glowing review someday but it really doesn't seem like they'll update it again, so, as-is, 3/10. Please, Cyberpho. You have the workings of something good here, it just needs some heavy-duty polish.
Edit: Fixed some spelling, added segment talking about audio.
Its ok but the controls feel a bit stiff. Wasnt as much like twisted metal as I had hoped. Id definitely wait for a sale though.
0.3 hours. I'm sure some will say that's not enough time to have a valid opinion. I'd say just look at the achievements, and just maybe I'm not out of line. This game is not that good. The controller support is a joke, broken in the menus half the time. Playing with keyboard and mouse is only marginally better, but only after you unlock the turret to rotate 360 degrees instead of the normal ~30 degrees from center.
But then it doesn't help that the car still handles poorly, the AI will start shooting you while they're still an indistinguishable spec on the horizon, you get ONE life per game (and purchasable continues), heals are all but nonexistent, your shield is a joke, items will sometimes be dropped but not actually appear, and the game maxes out at 1024x768 resolution (so all the screenshots and videos on Steam are currently lies).
But don't take it just from me. Take it from the achievement list that as of this writing 80% of owners have been wrecked once, 40% of players have finished a single battle, 26% of people have wrecked 10 opponents (a little over one battle), 21% of people have been wrecked 10 times, and 11% have survived 10 battles. It's not unusual for people to not finish games. But these stats should tell you that something isn't right with this game. If you buy this game, there's a decent chance you will not like it.
20YES/80NO~ = You must know you are getting an arcade game. 100%^ Fiction
Upgradeable- Survive- You are going to be playing BEST with a keyboard + Mouse + Aim Control On [Default}
Can be good for stress relief:
%50~Not goods: 1024x768 or lower resolutions. That's an insult... Fullscreen .. eish
There just are no other choices beyond 1024x768??
Playable with a steam controller yes: Fun? No; It's probably best, to keep auto/aim on if you play this method. So. That's the only difficulty curve playing with a controller/ Game pad/High precision camera for Right D_pAD [I turned it off on first go - and made it past first wave - but it's not a feeling of you're going to get used to it. The camera felt clumsy with auto/aim OFF - Default menu options had this ON;
Verdict:
It can be fun, there are car upgrades, in store- But your car drives like it's going to bounce off the walls. [Arcade]
New Game:
1/3 will not play the first 'wave' finished, lol.
1st Level destruction. - Thanks Game Summary - for summarizing this game up with the 2nd Achievement earned -
It's proof 33% are tilt-proof- even under the most extreme conditions of emulating a mouse with a touchpad on a controller :) It feels very good, but they should have kept default settings for tha aim to be easier.
This is an arcade title. The fate of humanity better not get to this. BUT with the productions of cars being number 1 in our 2019 Capitalist Communist, pig faced world,
; the world's fate, to create Futurama, is going to be legendary IRL : exoskeleton humans.
But Bound to a car, will be as much a punishment, as 'Death Race' The movie {Jason Statham- AKA The Transporter}
This game tries to emulate that, but instead of driving on a track, like flatout./ or the movie-- You are in an arena - Much Like GTA V_ and it's that. Wave after wave. Slowly crashing. Day after day.
The car told me i was driving 215, but it felt like 40. KM/H - not miles. per hour.
It's like knight rider, meets GTA V, and they laugh at Flatout physix together from back in the day [Which was an achievement of the decade] all while playing GTA V Arena based entertainment, in 2019.
The car also felt like it was 'floating' not on the ground. 0 Friction is present.
IF you're reading this far, my best Arcade racer suggestion is Horizon Chase Turbo :) Wonderful game.
Game Dev's have abandoned this project:
has Nightwolf: Survive the Megadome 10 Aug @ 3:18am - user lost all saves since an update to the game, and lost all progress.
Dev's did not respond at all.
Another post in general - was that the game has potential and required textures and more colours as well as alternative maps even, and they agree, by release date time - and have not really responded to any posts since June 11th {release date}
Brutal good Soundtrack
The speaker is a beast!
This feels so good i could fight my way to Megadome the hole night long.
Its like the speaker of Megarace gives the race free and comments about it
and you hurl Synthwave crashing like Carmageddon
and gunning like MadMax in the Powerdome.
Very very well made. I like this so a lot more than other, bigger games.
Music pulls you in and the level design gives you freedom and to use traps.
AWESOME!!! Neon racing death for me, yeah.
Edit: after years i found the crappy slider of the video resolution that gives me my Full HD. Thanks it now more awesome!
Edit2:
NOW FREE!
This game should be updated to a AAA title.
WhyTF i dont find a "Take my money!!!" button in the game?
I would spend so omuch more time and money.
I'm going to begin my write-up on this by saying i wanted to like this game, I enjoy the Twisted Metal series and i've been looking for something to scratch that itch. However, unfortunately this game couldn't do it due to technical issues that i hope will get fixed further down the line, if not addressed in a later title by the same developer.
I'm going to address my distaste with this game in a short few points
1. The aesthetic is dark and muddled. I understand that you're going for a more neon-Synthwave fitting artstyle for your game, but the color palette on terrain being a mix of washed out whites, grays, and light browns makes it exceedingly diificult to tell what kind of terrain you're actually driving on and how to handle the car accordingly. I also feel like the cyberpunk/Escape from New York style aesthetic is actually the wrong pick for this kind of game, and it could've benefitted from a different tone. I'm not going to ask for another Mad Max style car combat game because lord knows there's enough of those, but maybe something with more of a gorey-Punk aesthetic akin to Robocop's depiction of Detroit? Classic PC game Quarantine might be a good inspiration if the developers ever make a sequel or successor to this. It'd also allow you to keep the "Megacorporation starts a death game" premise of the game
2. The controls feel weirdly floaty, more akin to that old Hovercar capture the flag game that came with certain Windows 95 releases than an actual car. This would be okay if the gun turret had a greater range of motion but especially with the muddled terrain issues it just makes it feel awkward to control properly.
3. This is primarily a complain with the enemy design, If you're going to restrict the range of motion on the gun turret at least put the same restrictions on the AI racers.
Those are my primary complaints, and I feel like, other than the tone feeling off, most of these could probably be addressed through patches. However in its current state i cannot recommend this title
I can't recommend this to anyone. The driving is difficult to control and feels like you're sliding all over the place. Yes I know that it might control different on sand and snow but why? What purpose does that serve to enhance the game? You can't pull of a simple 180 to shoot the cars behind you and you desperately want to do this since you're probably taking a ton of damage.
Then the turret doesn't turn the entire 360 degrees which is frustrating. An enemy will be up your ass shooting you and you can't do anything about it. The enemies can shoot in 360 degrees though so good luck trying to stay in their blind spot.
Cool ideas but if the driving isn't good what's the point?

Interstate '76 was one of the first PC games I have when was a kid (come with a Creative Sound or Video card I don't remember). And it was one of my favorite games for years! I always want a modern game how look and feel like Interstate '76 but never find it... Nightwolf: Survive the Megadome is different, yes, is in the future, have a synthwave/futurewave feel, don't looks have a "open world" or good history mode like Interstate '76 or lot of weapons and cars... BUT! Its make me feel happy, is like a spiritual successor of the old game I loved so much! I recommend very much!
Deadly game. Just started playing can't wait until it goes online, but I need to get better first. This game is worth more than $5.69 and I bought it for more than a dollar less. If you are on the fence about buying it, just do it, it's literally 3 coffees, if you buy coffees, or the equivalent to 1/15 the price of call of duty. 10/10 would buy again.
**Also would be rad if they got more synth/retrowave tracks I would buy the album.**
Death by Fire! Death by Construction Equipment! Level design that reminds you of burnout, but a bit smaller, and colors that look straight out of a neon game. It's pretty fun for the pice!
I'm an enthusiast of Twisted Metal-like games and damn this game is awesome!
I played a bit more than a hour for now and it is quite addictive. It's an arena where you have to fight waves of enemies after waves. I will compare to my experience of Twisted Metal 2, Vigilante 8, V8 2nd Offense and Rogue Trip to make this review.
It has no missions like the Vigilante 8 serie, only pure good action. It's similar to Rogue Trip in term of craziness and ambiance. You're here for the show, for the public to see destruction and people being killed. If you watched The Running Man, this is pretty much the same principle. You don't get bored because you try your best to survive every time.
Now you would say maybe it gets frustrating. Not really: you can upgrade your car with the money you get so you do get further every time even if you're not especially good at it.
The music, the announcer, the ambiance and the colors overall are super immersive. I love the style of this game overall but I must admit they bring quite a few new things in term of gameplay too.
The gameplay is quite innovative: you get to use the traps that are at your disposition in the environment to help you destroy your competitors. Somehow it mixes a bit the fun you can have in a Mario Kart-like game but without the race. I remembered how much in V8 and Twisted Metal I looked for all the tricks of the levels. You're going to do that but in a more fast-paced action.
Instead of having an online multiplayer mode you have an online leaderboard and that already makes things more enjoyable for me. It's competitive but without the interference of other players.
They promised to do the split screen and to be honest that was my first motivation to buy this game in the first place. Now I kinda feel that even without it it stands on its own.
Right off the bat this game is well worth the $5 entry fee. The car combat here is solid and challenging and the inclusion of an xp-based trait progression system make the game all the more interesting and will keep bringing the player back for more. The car designs have a nice aesthetic about them and the arenas are well designed. Overall the game has nice graphics and a very cool 1980's dystopian neon future look to it. The music is also very good and does a good job of contributing to the retro-future vibe of the game.
My only gripes with the game are minor in light of the price tag and early access status and have not negatively affected my enjoyment of the game too much. To provide a complete and honest review I'll mention them here, however. My gripes have to do with the controls and handling. Sometimes the cars can feel like they're skating around on ice, especially when using the handbrake. There is a snow/ice arena in the game where this makes sense but in the dry arenas it feels a little off. Also, I prefer to play driving games with a controller but found myself playing the game a lot better with the keyboard and mouse. Not sure if there's anything that can be done about this as aiming the turret is simply so much easier to do with the mouse while you're driving. Speaking of controlling the turret, it would be nice if you could rotate it 360 degrees instead of the 180 degrees covering the sides and front. This could be an upgrade available later in the game though and I just haven't found it yet. This limitation may also just be to increase the challenge and test of skill the devs want to provide to the player. Anyway, the game is early access at the moment so I imagine the handling will be sorted later on. I'm very excited for future updates and can't wait to see the final product!
If you like car combat games or the whole 80's future thing in movies/games/etc you really can't go wrong with this for the cost of entry.
The games developers are active, communicative and friendly. I love the idea of the game and with such a development team I'm sure it will turn out great on release. If the idea of motorized battles in flashing neon lights sounds good, give this game a try!
FINALLY! <3
Graphic and music is really cool. Although it's damn hard game for me...
Can't wait to buy soundtrack on purple cassette or vinyl :))
The game has a lot of potential and is fun to play even at this early stage.
Steering is a bit hard, but it's probably the learning curve and I'm no driving expert.
Shooting is fun, art looks super neat, yet quite simplistic.
Would buy again.
Insanely well stylized and fun to the limits. However it does not prevent me grinning like little child. It's fast paced and leaves no room for boredom. Expectedly, I suck at this game BADLY. However it doesn't prevent me from grinning like little brat. I'm pretty sure, that it will get even better, once they get the chance to polish things out a bit.
It's pretty, fun and fast. BUY&PLAY it! Now! :)
Best I can say right now is that this game is way more fun than it has any right being at a $5 price tag. Looking forward to whatever is going to be added, and I can't see how it'll do anything else but get better.
Cyberpho, you did a pretty good job here!
AESTHETIC retro driving shooter game! Can't wait to see what kind of updates this game gets. I like the fact that is has leaderboards so you can compete with other players.
The graphics, music, and sound effects are a retro 1980's style pulled off really good.
The gameplay is really good, the controls are tight and it feels satisfying, the menu system is also really easy to use and cool.
For only $4.99 this game is great. I can't wait to see what this dev does!!! Nightwolf is badass!
