i got this back in 2019 well at the end of 2019 almost 2020 and it was a ok game it gave me boarder lands vibes and it was a good game but a bit too short i wish it was longer but i see that the game is still being worked on so i cant wait to see it when it is fully dun maybe it will be longer when i get back in to it well i haven't played in a year so maybe ill give it a go again to see what changed but it is a good game and i like it a lot and for the price being only 10 Canadian dollars is a good deal i recommend this game to everyone keep up the good work on the game.
I scoured through the VR+shooter tags looking for something new to play, watched what felt like a thousand trailers of "stand still and shoot waves of stuff as they come at you" games.
Then this game just shows up on the list on like page 420 or something. Decided to pick it up and you know what? It's a breath of fresh air. I don't know what's going on with the development of this game but 2 hours in I got no complaints. Haven't even done co op yet but i would guess that would only make it better.
That said. Devs? You better frigging develop this game. You got a gem here that you can turn into a biggy!
Very fun with some Anime flavor and is very challenging at least for me:). I had read that it was abandoned but I am glad I got it. This surely could have been great but I will take very good for now.
This game will never be finished because the devs straight up don't exist now. The entire company folded. However they left behind a slightly janky game that has co-op and decent gun systems and interesting teleport mechanics that are sort of FFXV-ish. For the price, I'd consider it a worthwhile VR game but I also wouldn't expect it to last forever.
Where do I begin...
The voice acting is mediocre.
The controls are broken right out of the gate.
In the beginning of the tutorial, you see a loading screen that says "INSERT TUTORIAL TEXT HERE." How old is this game? Almost a year. Okay, that's a good sign.
The gameplay is weird. It's mostly escort missions. You defend a robot as enemies shoot at it. The enemies come from 2-3 directions incredibly quickly so you get overwhelmed. You'll either die from being shot 3 times, or you'll die because you were busy dealing with a group of enemies while another group flanked you and killed the robot and now you have to start over from the beginning of the mission, which is about 15 minutes down the drain.
The only good thing is the character designs. The only anime element to it is the art you see in loading screens and on the title screen, but beyond that it looks like a budget Borderlands 2 with really cheap cell-shading.
I wish I never bought this because it's too late to refund it and it's just a frustrating mess. Just make sure you put my money towards a better sequel or something.
The idea is good, but the developers really need to hire an actual game designer to sit down and design the missions.
The whole 'selling point' the devs keep pushing is the ability to teleport to a dead enemy's spot and take their weapon. Sounds fun right?
Well, the entire game is built to DISCOURAGE that gameplay. Remember that game mode nobody likes in ANY game? Yes, Wanted killer has escort maps, and LOTS of them. Most missions are either ESCORT or DEFEND, where you need to stay within a tiny spot around a drone or else the timer stops and you need to go back into the zone to continue. So teleporting out is just a waste of time.
Enemies just infinitely spawn until you finish the escort, and getting weapon changes and pickups require you to teleport out of the zone. The entire system is just counter intuitive, its like the devs somehow cant decide if they dont want you to move around or to stay.
Theres a grinding system that somehow exists for no reason other than to just keep you grinding. Visuals are decent and sound design is okay. Everything else would work... If the devs actually realized its 2019 and that Escort missions are so last year.
Its a shame because I really like the riot shield character, and if the missions were not so poorly designed I would give this game a proper thumbs up.
Very fun arcade-y shooter game with a nice cel-shaded graphics style. Valve Index controllers don't work out of the box, but I have uploaded a config that should work.
My biggest complaint is that the game needs lots of performance enhancements and has no in-game graphical options. Even with my 6700k + 2080 Ti my game reprojects quite a bit once a lot of enemies start spawning. 90 Hz is a must, 120+ has way too much reprojection.
So overall a good game, but the technical packaging is rough around the edges. I definitely recommend the game, but for most people I'd say wait for it to leave Early Access and wait for the game to be complete.
I've experienced janky tracking on a Vive after alt-tabbing from the game, but a restart puts me smoothly back into the action.
...but with solid gunplay and intense action, and an excellent locomotion system that allows for flying combos that just *feel* badass to pull off, I can't really complain. I'm new to VR and I'm glad this was one of my first purchases.
I'd enjoy the game a lot more if it was a proper on rails cover-based shooter like Time Crisis but right now the movement controls are really awkward and the shooting feels really limp and rarely are you placed where there is enough cover.
Interesting game. It is a Japanese anime style game. It is actually good. The movement and weapons handling works well, decent graphics, and a story mode that sort of works? Anyway, they have been working on improvements and it continues to get better. You need a room scale setup for sure, as this is a full interactive game where you have to duck out of the way to dodge bullets and enemies come at you from 360 degrees.
If you're considering this game for single player gameplay, go ahead and buy it - it is entertaining. But if you want to play co-op, don't waste your time and money. I purchased this game for myself and for my cousin after seeing that an online co-op feature was released in December. I was very disappointed to find that we could not connect to play online. There is a multiplayer option available but it will not connect you to your friends. It will either show them as being offline or put you in a waiting state. After buying this game twice, I ought to ask for my money back but since it's an early access game, I will allow the devs time to fix this. SO FIX IT DEVS! In the meanwhile, I guess I'll play alone to practice for when the online co-op does work - if ever.
tldr: Most "Time Crisis" like game that can be played as onrails or with free movement, with rpg elements and good graphics.
Ever since i got VR i wanted a game like "Time Crisis" and so far, this game is the one that most has fit the bill.
It has different movement types, mainly teleport and free locomotion, seems to me that the free loco was added after, because the game feels designed for teleport (as an on rails shooter), because bullets fly kinda slowly... giving you time to duck and dodge, with free loco it almost feels like cheating because of how easy they are to dodge.
Cell shaded graphics look really good, sounds could be improved, mainly weapons as i kinda dont feel a "punch"?
It has some rpg elements like upgrading weapons and leveling your character, overall a pretty complete game.

But this one is acutualy compedently put together and fun,
I started feeling sick and could no longer play after 20 minites but hey, at least i didn't refund it after 2.
That said the movment is sickly, i'd like more VR options, it has basicly none.
If you own WMR instead of the htc or occulus offerings then like me you have probably been dissapointed with most of the games that work with it. This game was the first one I tried that actually felt intuitive, immersive and most importantly of all FUN. If you are looking for a good vr fps that works with wmr go no further, even in EA this is a ton of fun and so far the best vr experience I've tried by miles. I cannot reccomend this game enough. My biggest complaint is that I can only give the single thumb up when titles like this clearly deserve two.
The one black mark I'd put on this review is that the game feels somewhat grindy after a few missions. Unlockables require plenty of replay which isn't uncommon in games but usually it's the most tedious missions that need multiple play throughs and at least for me that was enough to pick something else up without looking back after a couple hours of play
So it has the voice acting and story of a low budget mobile game, Free Movement is slow and the teleporting is only in select zones. The gun play isn't very fun even with the ragdoll physics and there's no way to melee enemies. The only thing I thought it had going for it was the artstyle but even then the screenshots were practically bullshots compared to what I saw. I wanted to like the game but I really just can't, it's not very fun. Robo Recall and Superhot continue to be the pinacle of VR shooters.
Pro:
- Art style is gorgeous.
Cons:
- Tutorial dialog constantly blocks my aim.
- Stucked in the "HQ" area 3 times in one hour. One time the level shows "loading" but never change scene; Then the tutorial makes me stuck in the loadout screen because I don't have enough stars to click the bloody "upgrade" button.
- Problematic level design. In the third mission the tutorial tell you to camp in the "stronghold", which defeat the purpose of your innovative movement system.
- Please avoid poping enemies from behind until wireless VR becomes standard.
- I don't think crosshair should exist in VR shooter, but I know this is more subjective and it has to cater to more casual audience.
I had so much fun playing the game. It's really nice game with fun guns, and neat slowmotion.
For 10$ and early access this game has a lot of content.
The gameplay is sometimes rough around the edges, but nothing too distracting from gameplay.
I like the stylized graphics, reminds me of Borderlands, and the music is great.
Lots of fun, really recommend this game.
Well worth the money. Amazingly fun shooter that has seen a ton of content updates since release. Heavily recommend.
And so far, this is one of the only VR games with proper left-handed support. Kudos to the devs for that one!
So I played an hour, went through about 5 levels. Makes my hands hurt lol, lots of action.
The number one thing I noticed throughout the entirety of the levels was that this feels a hell of a lot like Sairento. Right down to the music and movement style.Less complexity (so far, upgrading weapons seems to just take cash and upgrades the whole weapon, not skill tree style and no wall jumping or flipping movements) but a more polished feel on the whole. The UI. colors, menus, 'level complete' signs, etc all look great.
The enemies don't do much different from eachother, the AI movement is predictable as they fire at you, take cover, run to some other nearby cover, and repeat. No coordination between them and up until this point (again only an hour but was 5 levels) no grenades or anything to really scare ya other than bullet dodging. There's enough going on during play that this is only a minor issue though.
The weapons feel GOOD! The haptic feedback is bueno and the sounds the weapons make go perfectly with them. The aim is pretty damn smooth. All the weapons have aiming reticles as far as I can tell so the sniper's longshot is easy money as is pretty much the rest of the weaponry so far.
There 'is' free movement as well as the teleportation being both usable simultaneously or just teleportation riding the rails and teleporting to the various tele hot spots among the levels. The free movement is a 'little' funky as there's a pretty large deadzone in the center of the trackpad, it almost acts as a touch d-pad.
So aside from comparison, AI, weaponry, and movement....not sure what else to touch up on. The style is fun, I was almost going to pass on this because of the art style (love 80s and comic stuff, but don't like it in games such as borderlands - lack of 3D hurt my brain - VR doesn't have that problem) and some of the shots being fired at you do look intimidating!
The game is a little easy though, it ought to have modifiers like Sairento that allow you to increase frequency of elites, or number of general enemies, specific weapons do more damage or damage 'to' you, etc. Overall it's definitely a recommend, I'm not planning on returning this one at all. Only request is some badass cinematics to get you into the characters.
Solid shooter with nice stylized grafics. Worked fine for me -for an early access title.
Usely i feel sick very quickly but i played 2hours straight without anything.
Slowmotions and dodging feels realy awesome.
But I have to say its realy difficult if you are new to the game or VR..
So i died very often until i realized the more you getting used to the aiming , dodging, collecting weapons , teleport ,and all this stuff ,the more fun it is ..
So i had lot of fun getting better at this game and see the enemy waves dying
10 Bucks is a realy good offer for this.
Very cool game, it totally has this 80s arcade feeling to it!
The shell shaded look, delightful corny 80s action dialogue lines, the weapons (especially the shotgun) have a great sound and blast to them, and the music really fits the quick flow of it all. Also the free movement mode was comfortable and not making me sick.
Not only is this game huge, it's easy to use and for all ages too. The premise is simple, yet exciting and you break out a decent sweat :-) It's a really solid game for an Early Access, without too many major bugs.
Got some feedback though: When collecting keycards in the wooden boxes; when all wooden boxes in one area have been destroyed, maybe disable the zone, so I know I've cleared it completely?
If you're looking for a casual, ease-of-use 80s action packed VR game, then Wanted Killer VR would be it.
