Play in VR or on PC
Rolling Line has been built from the beginning to be both a PC game (first person style) and a VR game.
You can play with a keyboard a mouse just like any PC game or train sim, but if you have a VR headset (Oculus, Vive, Valve Index and WMR) connected then it will automatically launch in VR.
If you have the Valve Index controllers then you can even make use of full finger movement tracking!
VR controls can also be fully re-binded using the SteamVR Input System.
Just like a model railway
Layouts in Rolling Line are designed to look, feel and operate like a real hobbyists model railroad, with switch boards to control the tracks, portable hand-held controllers to drive trains, and complete control over the rooms lighting.
Freely push wagons around on the rails with your hands to build trains and take control of them using DCC-style hand-held controllers!
Build your own tracks and scenery
Place pieces of track and scenery to build your own huge (or tiny) railways!
Choose from a huge range of props like trees, buildings, vehicles, shapes, etc.
Paint different colors onto props and terrain using a simple color painting system.
Choose from a variety of colors or edit your own hues and palettes.
Place down chunks of terrain to build hills and path ways, or use external 3D modelling tools to create your own complex 3D terrain (via modding).
You can build your custom layouts entirely by hand in VR, or play on PC to make use of PC-only map making shortcuts.
You can share your layouts on the Steam workshop and easily download other peoples layouts.
All layouts you make can be easily backed up and shared in plain text, which means you can copy-paste an entire save game between friends!
Explore in human scale or miniature
Switch between human-sized room scale and railway-sized miniature scale at any time, any where. You are not limited to only driving trains in miniature, but can fully explore and entire layout at the scale of a person.
Drive trains from right inside the cab in miniature, and view the world from the driver's perspective!
Choices of locomotion
Choose between a range of locomotion options, including standard teleporting, grabbing the world around you to move yourself around and free directional movement with the trackpad.
Other options like manual rotation (if you cannot use room scale) and setting your player height help support a range of VR setups.
Rolling line offers an immersive experience of both controlling a model railroad and driving trains from within the world itself. Whether you enjoy exploring model railways, the joy of controlling model trains, the experience of a scenic railway journey or the freedom of building your own tracks and creations, then Rolling Line can deliver!

although the basegame is lacking in some props and types of trains, it overwhelmingly makes up with the massive modding scene, its fit to model any era and pretty much any country, I highly recommend this game, its simplistic yet charming graphics make it a original, and unique take on the sandbox genre.
The controls are an absolute nightmare in VR, everything is mapped to the sticks for who knows what reason. Turn around, delete half your layout. Pick up a remote to control a train, well now you can't turn around. There are unused buttons and the potential for grip modifiers. The game is like a dream come true for me, the dev/s put so much heart and soul into this, please update the control scheme.
amazing for model train fans and creative people 9.5/10!
Rolling line is a relaxing and beautiful game, its trains designed faithfully and the landscapes rich, everything about the game has this scale and weight that is undeniably gorgeous. 9.5/10
Calming, fun game that allows the creative mind to thrive. Additional workshop mods add additional enjoyment to the experience.
Wonderful game that gives those that cannot model railroad a great representation of what it's like.
I wish they added a uncouple button when you go into the layout. Once you are small, all the menus go away and I cannot do switching sessions.

tickles the autistic part of my brain quite well
Gf bought this game for me and i enjoy trains mainly wanted to play it in vr but steam is being funny so been playing it without it for now very enjoyable and fun for train fanatics
A fun game with a great variety of mods. Hope the dev comes up with more ways to control signals realistically.
Cool game for railfans who like model trains, you can drive them at different angles, get amazing workshop addons and having a good time!
great game for train lovers!
this game is fun and relaxing ya"ll shall play this game/rolling line
I bought it on Christmas Day and it was a fun game. I played for Seven and a Half Hours playing it. Recomend it for any moving from (Cough Cough) dtg...
Anyways fun game
This game is for a pretty niche audience, but if you've gotten as far as reading the reviews for virtual model train games that niche audience is you. This is, in my less than humble opinion, the best in the category. Easier to learn than Trainz (cheaper too) and more freedom than train yard builder.
cutom music men i love it. it has fre placing no option to urn off so its liketracjswhere no free placing grphics need more realife and controlls are so complex. do not buy for 15quid.
i only play this game because i don't have actual model trains 10/10 would recommend
This game's workshop has everything even Wisconsin maps
Enter the realm of nothingness,
I feel the cold, my eyes are shut, my fear slowly dying.
Light years from here are my thoughts, in cages,
I can hear their moan, but now a long, deep breath is calling.
This is what it feels like to play Rolling Line for nearly five hundred hours and realizing that your wife and children have left you.
Best money spent on a train game I've ever had. Too bad people delete stuff from the workshop in fits of rage or shit like that...
This game is the unlimited track layout builder. You can literly crash trains
this game is a good
This game is really nice. I like the fact it has a Berkshire, and Polar Express rolling stock. Routes are really detailed, man. I could use this game the rest of my life.
i made a train go 10000 mph and crashed it into box cars
Nice sandbox train game with a focus on miniature visualization
This game is perfect for those who are searching for a miniature visualization game, or for those who want to create their own train maps with a lot of assets and details in a cartoonish art style with the objective for watching trains or just for the sake of creating a beautiful scenery, you can drive the trains, make them go on their own. This game is really worth it if you like trains in general.
Learning curve for non VR players: First of all this game is perfectly playable without a VR Headset, but I would like to mention that this game is a bit difficult to get started to create your own map because the controls are very different from a standard map editor with ctrl+z, click and drag, copy and paste etc. Here you have controllers, each controller does a bunch of things and you have to aim at things to edit them using these controllers, the game let you create the map the way you want it. Just remember it might be complicated at the beginning but it gets better the more you use them.
The Design: The graphics of Rolling Line are pleasant, the have the lowpoly style but at the same time a huge amount of detail goes into the assets of this game, from the trains itself to the block pieces to create your own map, the colors are very coherent and everything seems to make sense, from the menus, music and overall art.
Creating your own maps: The huge deal of this game is making it easier for you to create your dream maps in a train setting, despite its cartoonish/lowpoly style, you can create really complex maps full of details. Here you can increase the room size to make bigger maps, you have a lot of colors to paint the ground, set up the tracks with several track pieces, dozens of default trains to use and a lot of building pieces to make your map unique.
Sound design: It works, I like the calming music and the sound effects are really good too, from the UI to the trains sounds, it is really good.
Overall: I really recommend this game for those who like trains and want to create their own maps in a miniature style, or for those who love trains in general
At the time of my review, I haven't seen everything the base game has to offer, but already I can confidently say that this is the greatest train game I have played. Growing up being obsessed with trains, and owning a model train set growing up, this game feels like a dream come true, and a love letter to model train hobbyists and enthusiasts. I cant praise this game enough. The vr mode is the best way to play imo. Definitely recommend
This game pulls at the heart strings, its like being a kid again, i'll be playing more for sure
MAKE THE OLD TOP OF THE SOUTH COME BACK PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS PLS
One of the most time consuming but fun and rewarding games. You really just have to mess around to learn, videos will help but it is a complex game when you're new to it. Once you start getting used to it, it can be really fun to do stuff with. I'd really recommend making your own small town then maybe work on making an actual town that's small. It will help you learn a bit and you get the aspect of making something you're proud of. 10/10 game, would recommend.
Honestly I enjoy this game a lot it's very simple to understand not hard to make stuff and the steam workshop just makes it better
i love the game and the fact that one man created this game. thankyou
very nice game i love trains and i love making trains i love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love.

oh yeah game is scaled down to be like miniture trains or something iuno
10/10 would buy again
This is an amazing game. A must for people who love trains and want to know more on railways around the world
Love the community surrounding the game, they have very creative minds and mods! As for the game itself, I'd definetly recommend it to someone who always wanted their own model train layout but could never afford it, because it is very similar to the real thing. 10/10!
i like the vast majority of mods and map making oppurtunities.
always wanted a railroad building game this was the thing i needed 10 out of 10
Keeps me coming back. Love the simple graphics, makes it so easy to build an immersive world without tedium. Would reccomend
so additive!!!
its just good. i cant believe im saying this cuz i know people have their own opinions, but if u hate rolling line, your opinion is wrong. (im gonna regret saying)
Simply works really well
I enjoy the game. I would say it's worth the price. It makes my ADHD brain happy.
Pretty good! The learning curve into making layouts is steep, but not as steep as something like blender. It's like trying to get into carpentry. The community creations are awesome and add a quality of life to this game.
Also trains, don't forget about the trains.
pc controls are fucked, snapping is terrible, you need to walk at a snails pace to and from the drawers, whole point of the game is to build but it is so annoying to do anything
cowl unit productions got me into rolling line.
ITS GOOD
i like trains
one of the best trains simulator
and ho scale.
can you do the train crash from the Cassandra Crossing stephen fisher now
i like it
