Refund if your under the 2hr playtime and are having trouble starting the game. Dont try a year later, steam wont accept that.
Tried the guides on working around the issue which never worked for me.
Game is a classic, had to purchase on a different service to have it running. Recommend the game but not on Steam.
⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Two Worlds II HD is an ambitious open-world RPG that tries to do a lot of things but doesn’t always succeed. The world is large and visually appealing (especially in the HD version), with varied environments and some impressive lighting effects. The magic system is deep and fun to experiment with, and there’s a good amount of content to explore.
However, the game has its fair share of issues. The combat feels clunky at times, with awkward animations and hit detection. The voice acting and dialogue are notoriously bad, often leading to unintentionally funny moments. The story is serviceable but nothing groundbreaking, and the characters lack depth.
Despite its flaws, Two Worlds II HD has a certain charm. If you enjoy old-school RPGs with a mix of jank and ambition, you might find something to love here. Just don’t go in expecting The Witcher or Skyrim.
👍 Pros:
✔️ Large open world with interesting locations
✔️ Deep magic and crafting systems
✔️ Some improvements in HD version (textures, lighting)
👎 Cons:
❌ Clunky combat and stiff animations
❌ Laughable voice acting and weak story
❌ UI and controls can be frustrating
Final Verdict: A decent RPG for those who can tolerate some jank. If you’re a fan of Eurojank RPGs, you might enjoy this, but it’s not for everyone.
Would recommend no one buy this game or 12 sky enhanced edition,
i have had problems since i bought this game have been trying to fix the problems on my own for hours
recently i messaged support about my problem (multiplayer town doesn't let me place any buildings so im missing out on so much of the income that it needed and the shops i can gain access to, and that the multiplayer saves are server sided so me resetting my whole pc to try solve this didn't work) i explained this to the guy in support and he couldn't understand my problem he for some reason thought i couldn't activate the game,, after i explained it again in the same words, he then told me if its not working then to go play campaign, i think this is extremely rude and a waste of my time contacting them, i tried again to reset my whole pc to see if maybe something on my end was the problem and found that this time when i logged in my campaign was gone and when i would save it wouldnt save to any of the save sloths. so that gone too. completely disappointed with this game and studio as it was one of my favourite games back when i was younger and now its unplayable. ANYWAY I WILL BE STEERING CLEAR OF THIS GAME STUDIO! and would reccommend the same :)
I bought this game back on ps3, I've always loved it. It's so vast in the small details for such an old game. Unfortunately, I never beat the game for the fact that I got to strong and couldn't move without freezing up my ps3. Either way I love this game, always have. Give it a try for a good time.
Played extensively as a kid. Came back 10 years later to find it much worse than i remembered.
Not worth the price, did not age well. Just play risen at this point.
Despite the jank and occasional awkward UI elements, it's still a great open world RPG with a fantastic magic system.
The best part of this game was playing the multiplayer maps. Wish I could've seen this game in its prime, actually low key really fun. IDK much about the story, couldn't keep my attention, but the multiplayer mode with my partner, really made this game something really special. The magic system is really good. Would love a future game where they expanded on that aspect of the game.
fantastic game. the only problems with this game are the few bugs that are annoying and the terrible voice acting. Theres a few people in multiplayer but not many. The single player story is great.....but terrible voice acting. Get this game on sale. dont pay full price.
This game really didn't age well. I'm cringe laughing through the intro. My guy looks like he is out on a jog. The combat has a back-hand slap in it. There is a lot of clumzy looking animations that make no sense and look entirely silly. The main character has a raspy batman voice. Acting is very rarely good. The intro was a series of examples of villains having the upper hand but then turning their heads away or leaving entirely to let themselves be killed or the protagonists to narrowly make an escape. You can't sprint in this game but you can speed up swimming so you go very fast. Very strange.
The tutorial was long and arduous and tbh I just about finished it when I felt I had enough for my first sitting with this game. There is a hilarious amount of jank and weird movement that looks very unnatural. But this is a really old game so it's understandable. Can't leave a negative review when I spent most of the intro laughing, can I?
this has got to be the best half baked game ive ever played, the magic system is genius the story and voice acting is atrocious. if you wanna fuck around with magic and make people dead this is the game to play (just ignore the placeholder achievement system that never got finished)
A fantastic story rich RPG. It has alot of flaws and irritating issues such as inventory/map use etc but the game offers a quality RPG experience which makes you forget those things.
The voice acting needs work but if this had the same multiplayer as the original you would have a slam dunk here they tried being as innovative as possible with this one by using things like the spell creation system and it really pays off in my opinion.
Multiplayer is dead. There's literally no one in the multiplayer lobby. Except for this, it's a pretty good game. The single player experience is entertaining.
Yes this game is buggy.
Yes this game is clunky.
yes this game is old but its not as ancient as the other supposed decent spell crafting games.
Yes this game has the best spell crafting system i have ever had to play with and is easy to learn to use via trial and era and the random stuff you can do from a standard missile spell or aoe spells to homing ricocheting spells that drop aoe effects on contact to summons increase in jump height movement speed, rain anvils from the sky around you then use a tornado around yourelf to to spin them around you..
Definitely not for everyone, it can be hard to get into but once you have a decent understanding it can be quite fun. I enjoyed the first game (Two Worlds) in this series more than this one though.
I don't recommend this game unless you love pain and trash ass games like I do. There's something charming about the poop feeling of this game. Everything is jank and wrong, but I still play this pile of crap from time to time. I would love to talk to the devs and pick their brain. I bet they do a lot of drugs
I enjoyed playing the game. I think a lot of it has to do with the sense of exploration and discovery. While the beginning is a little slow, once you enter the wider world it captures that desire to adventure much like Skyrim. It isn’t a perfect game, far from it but I do think it is interesting, though whether it is just a misinterpreted gimmick or a game brimming with potential may be left for you to decide.
Pros:
An impressive magic system that may be the best gaming has to offer.
A big world with decent visuals.
Bard Hero
Cons:
Combat is a bit stiff.
Bugs.
Quests and story are a bit bland
This is simultaneously one of the best and worst fantasy RPGs I have ever played.
Two worlds 2 is like a sad version of Skyrim with an indy feel. The graphics were outdated even when it came out in 2011, compared to Mass Effect 2 which came out at around the same time. The controls are funky, the voice acting is a bit cheesy and there is very little in the way of choice (character creation and dialogue for example).
PROs
- It's cheap entertainment
- It has a story
CONs
- Janky controls
- Graphics on par with games released in the early 2000s not the 2010s
- Terrible physics engine (capes cover NPC's head during cutscenes for example)
- Simplistic combat
If you really need an adventure in this genre I'd recommend skipping this one and just finding a Skyrim mod or something similar. This really isn't worth the time but for the price... maybe?
True to the original in storytelling and design. To address the chief complaint of most reviewers, the mechanics do come off a bit clunky sometimes but after compensating it's bearable. Nothing that detracts from the overall game play and enjoyment, you just have to get used to the controls. It follows the first game's basic architecture and tbh it's nice to play again. Some of the unintentional story line dialogue lends itself to funny moments that come up organically, adding an element of humor like the first Two Worlds game. For instance the line, "that remains to be uncertain" made me lol. This also reminisces the first adventure and the hero's uncanny way of saying inappropriate, often times horrible, things, especially after a kill.
As the original the soundtrack really sets itself apart. You don't expect to be immersed in such great music and it really adds to ambiance. The story continues more or less where it left off. Kyra is in trouble again and you need to rescue her. Only this time when you first starting off there are plenty of references to the original story and that's a great touch. The minion of the original boss is the new boss now. You of course have nothing, because you're a prisoner, but you recall some of your skills and action from TW1. I like how the developers weaved some of the original content in but created a whole new epic adventure.
The magic variations and weapon/armor upgrades is even more robust this time around with many more options. As well as the difficulty and intelligence of the beasts and monsters. They will still swarm but it's easier to separate them from their packs if you're careful, and since there are far more combat techniques it takes much more time honing in on any given creature's weakness/idiosyncrasy. It's really quite a challenge in the beginning and that sets up for a nice arc in character along the way. I'd definitely recommend, especially if able to pick it up on a sale. For $9.99 this is a great deal.
I liked the base game and barely got into it before I saw the price f the DLC 12 years ago. That's why I didn't finish it after the flying fortress came out and it was so expensive all those years ago. I can maybe afford it now(But I'd rather buy Fallout four's overpriced DLC first. I'm on a budget and like large games with lots of progression, that's you guys, but maybe chill on the price gouging?)
Yes, I get it, you want more money for your work and your bosses and their bosses are taking big cuts and marketing is expensive, but you might sell more products if you stop making the prices so inaccessible.
Maybe cool it with the soundtracks and strategy guides? I wanna come back and play this sure, but to do that I want to have the DLC and to get a discount on the DLC you want me to buy filler garbage too? come on.
You make piracy look attractive when piracy is the literal garbage factory of botnets and horrible life-choices. I wouldn't ever pirate a game, but you're giving a lot people who would a lot of fuel for the reason to do so. Maybe pass this review along and pull your heads out of your collective industry buttox.
The game is good, the price is hell.
Unpolished gem, worth putting time into it. Old school gamers will like it, great RPG is you can get by the jank. This was my favorite "bargain bin" 10$ Xbox game back then, way better than I though it would be.
is goot
Really love this game wish it worked on my pc.
An interesting game that I play every year.
I particularly like the magic system.
I don't know of any game where the magic system is as variable as this one.
The German version with dubbing is also excellent.
This game doesn't work.
never play
unplayable lol
g
Imagine play for 1 hour and got an achievement that only 8% of player have...
Easily one of the best games ever made a criminally underrated. 9.5/10
It's a great game, like some older games you have to work a little to get it to work but once you can it's a blast. If you are ever bored, try magic.
One of my fav RPG's, needs a remake like the Gothic 1 one coming out soon!
I DON'T LIKE :[
This is an underrated gem of a game. It's graphics were ahead of its time (I think they still look good today) and the magic system where you can create your own spells is really cool. It had a cool multiplayer mode back in the day as well. I miss this game. It really is quite fun. Give it a try!
Tries to launch game, shows loading screen then instant crash. I was gonna give this game a 2nd chance since the last time I played it was probably when it came out but, I'm content with not playing it as I remember it being quite bad. Oh well, time to move onto something better.
