Have played on Forager for 24 hours - best way to describe it would be a finite stardew valley * factorio sim, with a few fetch quests for special items, a couple of one and done dungeons, and a couple of puzzle rooms per each of the five base biomes, some of which are found in "towers" others of which are found on the map. You build structures to combine resources, and then build stronger structures which combine these into stronger resources - you optomise these and upgrade them to make them faster - you can build path and rail routes around the map. Is a good first "engine builder"*"farming sim" to introduce someone to the genre, I'll come back to it in the future as there is the ability to collect and exchange high level resources for items which summon "secret entities" on the map - i won't spoil this but they make the game interesting once you've reached the higher end of your capabilites. Fun little acheivement hunter game once all the main stuff is done.
Forager
Forager is an indie, open-world survival crafting game, blending elements from Stardew Valley, Terraria, and Factorio, with a touch of idle progression similar to Cookie Clicker.
Although I’m not usually a fan of idle games, I was really impressed with Forager. Its gameplay loop is engaging, offering a satisfying sense of progression as you play to complete various in-game feats. The action is hooking, supported by cheerful music and sound effects. The game is packed with content, and its greatest strength is the rewarding progression system that keeps the experience fresh and enjoyable.
On the downside, the late-game grind can become repetitive and tedious, and the audio, while charming at first, may feel monotonous during longer play sessions.
Despite these minor issues, I loved the game. After spending 152 hours 100% completing Forager, I can confidently recommend it to anyone who enjoys engaging, progression-based games.
great game and only takes around 30 hours to 100% the game
W GAME
Open sandbox game, lots to do, fun and entertaining, keeps me busy for HOURS
I've wanted to play it for years, and it was SO WORTH IT BUYING THE GAME
I stop playing and instantly want to get back on
I love the art style! This game is way more complexity than I thought it would. The puzzles are fun even though I suck at puzzles and usually hate them in other games. I really love the idea of building an empire in game. I also loved seeing the comic about how forager came to be.
fun game, neat artstyle, cool npc-interactions, not too much endgame grind, very simple gamemechanics
to summarize: very enjoyable
I have minor nitpicks that have come up over the course of my playtime, but I will say that I seem to really love this style of game.
A similar game called Outpath was one that I really got into and basically did everything you could during my playtime. I had no idea at the time but I'm sure it was heavily inspired by this game as a lot of the elements were present in that game as well (including weapons but Outpath doesn't really have hostile mobs so they didn't feel as impactful). That being said, from trying that game first there were some things I missed having, like being able to select a custom amount during crafting, rather than only being able to do Half or Max of your capacity. Having to worry about inventory was a needless stressor but I guess you could argue it was valuable in limiting hoarding-behaviors early on. Yet this is almost a game about hoarding, cause almost everything has a use down the line.
Overall, I had fun with it!
Please play this game. But first, this game is for people willing to devote 100+ hours into 100%ing this game,
and people who wont quit because the first part of the game is a little boring. Ok, why you should play, this game is beautiful and the are style fits perfectly, and so does the music, you need a toaster to play, and its cheap as hell. But, of course it cant all be good, the biggest con is that the developer left the game behind and i think he didnt pay his workers or something, but that is really it. So in summary, if you devote maybe 5 or less hours of boring sand collection to get the slime pickaxe and shovel then this game will be super fun. The community is still sort of active but new videos come out weekly. Do I think you should this game? yes 100%. I've almost 100%ed the game and thats really the only thing to do/objective and it may take afking overnight, but if you're willing to do that. just buy it. stop looking at reviews.
very cool and very snazzy
its basically a mobile game without the adds and way more fleshed out,
5 staw :3
For whatever reason, this has become my go-to chill game. When I don’t feel like thinking too hard or don’t have the energy for my other games, I just default to this one.
Does that count as a recommendation? I think so. If you’re looking for something that keeps your mind occupied without being too challenging—just a game to relax with—then I definitely recommend it for you!
Fun grind game with some awesome and hard puzzles
it was fun but its too much for me the resource was abundant but it get to overwhelmingly effect me because i cant gather it fast enough so it just like a jungle and i cant handle it rofl. but dont get me wrong it was fun but its just too much for me to keep gathering resource when my inventory management was shit (it may me just be because i dont know whats good/usefull or useless). thanks ! feel free to gave me more information about the game!
Deleted my late game saves 4 times in total. Unable to recover them. Not worth playing for a 5th time for the last achievements.
A very hard negative review to give, the game IS fun, but hoooooooo boy it gets tedious fast
I absolutely LOVE this game. It has everything I have been craving for in a game that I got bored with in other games because I completed them. I just wanna explore, mine, forage, and craft... love the skill tree. I love that it doesn't hold your hand on unlocking stuff so you need to do a bit of figuring it out or google if you are stuck on a riddle. Warning: Highly Addictive. You will spend too much time on this game if you aren't careful!
Nice game, 100% achievements after 52h, but with the mods you can have much more fun for more time.
game is fun, but it's a huge grind and has been completely abandoned by the developer.
wow, early game inventory management is REALLY annoying ... I have to ditch stuff I pick up so I have space to craft storage space. very tedious.
I love the mechanics of the game as well as how the forging for items work.
Fun game but the start is super slow and the 100% is a huge grind.
The art style is colorful and cute, but as you play, you will find that some mechanics are completely broken. Once you find a broken mechanic, you completely break progression and this game quickly becomes a relatively boring min/max simulator. Also there is an achievement that requires doing 20 hours of NOTHING
Overall bad game would not recommend
Delightful little sandbox game- all the curiosity and exploration you could want while requiring a touch of skill that casual players will love learning and will keep regular gamers engaged and having a good time
Forager: An Addictive Blend of Exploration and Crafting
Forager by HopFrog is a game that doesn’t just grab your attention—it holds onto it tightly. A dynamic and addictive blend of exploration, crafting, and resource management, Forager invites players into a charming and expansive world full of discovery and progress. With its fast-paced mechanics and rewarding gameplay loop, it’s easy to see why this indie title has become so popular.
Gameplay: A Constant Drive for Progress
At the heart of Forager is its addictive progression system. The game starts with simple tasks—gathering resources, crafting tools, and building structures—but quickly expands into a sprawling web of activities. Whether you’re exploring new islands, unlocking new skills, or upgrading your base, there’s always something to do. The combination of resource gathering, crafting, and puzzle-solving keeps the gameplay loop satisfying and encourages you to keep moving forward.
One of the standout features is how the game evolves. The world opens up as you complete objectives, revealing new islands to explore, new mechanics to master, and new resources to collect. The ability to automate processes as you progress adds an extra layer of depth, making it easy to build massive systems that run while you explore or solve puzzles elsewhere.
Visuals and Atmosphere: Simple Yet Charming
Forager features a minimalist pixel art style that is both charming and effective. The colorful landscapes and adorable character designs add a sense of warmth to the game, making it feel light-hearted despite the complex mechanics. Each island feels distinct, with its own set of resources, enemies, and challenges, keeping the visuals fresh and exciting as you progress.
The soundtrack is upbeat and energetic, perfectly complementing the game’s fast-paced, high-energy gameplay. It enhances the experience without overwhelming it, creating a pleasant atmosphere as you move from task to task.
Features That Shine
1. Addictive Gameplay Loop: The game’s core loop is simple—gather resources, craft items, and unlock new content—but it’s incredibly engaging. The satisfaction of completing a task and seeing immediate rewards keeps you playing for hours.
2. Exploration with Rewards: Each new island you unlock presents fresh challenges and valuable resources. Whether it’s discovering a new biome or finding a hidden treasure, exploration feels purposeful and rewarding.
3. Automation and Progression: The ability to automate processes as you progress adds a layer of strategy to the game. Once you’ve built up your infrastructure, you can set things in motion and focus on other tasks, making the gameplay feel even more satisfying.
Room for Growth
While Forager is an immensely enjoyable experience, there are a few aspects that could be improved. Some players might find the progression a bit repetitive after a while, especially once the core mechanics are mastered. The game could also benefit from a deeper narrative or more complex objectives to add more variety to the gameplay.
Final Verdict
Forager is a deceptively simple game that packs a lot of depth into a small, bite-sized package. Its addictive gameplay loop, rewarding exploration, and charming visuals make it an absolute joy to play, even if it can feel repetitive at times. Whether you're a fan of crafting, exploration, or just a good old-fashioned resource grind, Forager has something for everyone.
Score: 9/10
If you’re looking for a game that will keep you hooked for hours, Forager is a perfect pick, offering endless fun with each new island you unlock and every new resource you discover.

7/10 | Pretty fun, has too much repetitive grinding
Honestly terrible The developer has shared nothing but lies to the community I cannot recommend this game to anyone. I hope the dickhead who made this pile of shit never makes another game again.

The game is great. Love the progression. Alot to do. Shame there is nothing you really work towards. I have no purpose. In the end, I aimed for 100% achivments, but one achivement is to not take damage in a dungeon. But ive already clared all of them. So I have to make a new save for that.
So I changed to upgrading all my equipment to max lvl. When It came to upgrading the staffs, I had to get lava eals and ankors. Things ive had from the fishing traps before (for the museum.) But now they simply dont exist anymore. I looked up the wiki and placed the traps there (fire biom and forest biom.) Still nothing. Its bugged. So this killed it for me. Love the game, but the game does not love me.
Unplayable, crashes before main menu. DO NOT BUY
Unspielbar, stürzt einfach vor dem Hauptmenü ab. NICHT KAUFEN
dev is a bad person for 1, and 2 the loop just got boring. starts out fun but once I have to leave my computer for hours just to get mats I'm done.
This game is very well made and i love the art style. I enjoy the challenge of it but also that it's not too challenging.
I've played this game earlier in 2020 not on this account, which was one of an experience and it was absolutely amazing./
4 years later I came back I found some cool updates to the game which was really exciting to me.
idk how but I remembered all the tricks to the game which helped me even grind it faster and I played it after my ex broke up with me and it made me really forget shi
now 3 months later making this review just gotta say this game is a masterpiece and it was the only week were I got my mind off everything
would play it again rn but studies man
Very good and interesting game, its the same genre like terraria ...
Did not really enjoy this 100% still fun game tho.
Liked how building structures worked.
Game is somewhat buggy feels very clunky.
Love this game and how it plays. My only desire is for a multiplayer feature.
pierwsza sesja grania trwała 6 godzin, non stop
Muszę jednak przyznać, że nie byłoby to możliwe gdyby nie mod który zmienia czas każdego craftingu na 1 sekunde, bez tego gra zmienia się w symulator czekania
I started playing Nova Lands first, and after seeing recommendations, I decided to give Forager a try. While the concept is similar, I personally think Nova Lands outshines Forager in several ways.
I also read some comments discussing the changes and direction Forager has taken in the past few years. It's really unfortunate to see such a creative and promising game seem to lose its momentum.
It’s still worth checking out if you’re curious, but only do it when there are discount.
I was introduced to this game on PatrckStatic's channel, it was all the review I needed.
It's a fun game, I've been enjoying it.
very grindy and not that challenging but still fun
Would you like to strip mine and deforest the land while continuously shoving whole raw fish into your mouth? If so, this is the game for you.
really good game other than the fire galaxy puzzle that i DESPISE
Game seems dead, still pretty good. Don't get hopes up for updates... but devs are cooking (teaser for "Forager 2"?? in discord maybe)
Great game, very simple but fun
i like this game but i wouldnt reccomend buying it due to the developer's practices
Forager is fun for a bit but the gameplay gets annoying quickly. It's basically just a grinding game, but there's no payoff, no moments of satisfaction that the genre thrives on. Some of the main mechanics are just not fun to play around, particularly with the collecting of resources and money. The combat feels very half-baked. It's used often, but has zero depth and a lot of jank. I generally like puzzle games, and this game does have it's share of Zelda influence, but some of the puzzles are very unintuitive or not very well thought out. There are a few spots where you can softlock yourself fairly easily. I know some people that like this game and I can see why, but it you have to have a lot of patience and I don't see much payoff for it.
the game is cool, it's a pity that the game was abandoned
Developer dropped out of existence didn’t live up to promises.
Very good game if you are in the mood for grinding and shutting down, enjoyable
Honestly a very good game, and I've played quite a few games in my time and this is one of the best.
this is like "adhd the game" ! all about breaking resources to collect them and slowly accrue more variants of them to build structures and devices to help you find more types of biomes and resources to continue the cycle. upgrades to equipment gives both short and long term goals to aim for all while fighting enemies an solving puzzles that pop up along the way <3
Very relaxing and good game I would highly recommend.
