Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach

This game by far is one of the best Five night's at Freddy's installments of the Franchise as of having a diverse story and massive area's to explore throughout. This games environmental detail too is next level with little Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the mega pizza-plex. In addition the game-play lasts about up to 5 hours through first play-through and being able to load back into a certain area of game-play you were last at with the save stations and loading menu. This isn't even all that this game has though because the FREE ruin dlc taking place after the ruins of the pizza-plex. Overall I honestly recommend this game to mascot horror freaks

This game is a waste of space, waste of time, and waste of money. Steel wool took years just to make the most watered down excuse of a FNaF game. It's an insult to the franchise and to the fans. So many expected better and steel wool deserved every atom of flack they got for this. It's buggy, completely inconsiderate of previous established lore, and has an outrageous file size. When you step into an arena that has been built from the ground up by someone who appreciates their fans and cares for the art they've built, make something worth my time. Do better.

I rarely write reviews but this game is fucking shit. Game barely runs at all and barely works when playing. I really tried to enjoy it but the experience of trying to finish this game fully is so unenjoyable. A lot of the "challenge" of the game is really the false difficulty that comes with the game being so fucking buggy. Got to the final boss after REALLY trying to complete this game and just deleted it after how buggy and finicky the fight ended up being. Feels like the story is never expanded upon really and in the end you waste your time wishing you hadn't. Don't buy this TRASH!

Sadly a massive pile of garbage. While I did get enjoyment out of it the lack of transparency and the fact that they have left it a buggy mess is quite frankly disrespectful to the fanbase. Do better

It's very good, and I recommend it, but it is very buggy.

I do really love this game in spite of how bad it is, but that doesn't really change the fact that this game is really, really bad.

I was in Bonnie Bowl late game and I somehow died to the floor of the elevator. I could never get the Afton fight to work as intended, the only way I beat it is by blocking Roxy with Freddy as a door. The Freddy upgrade sections are hilariously broken, if you click too early you die, if you click SLIGHTLY off the hitbox you die. it's not fun, its tedious.

The save system sucks. I really wish there were more autosaves, and the only save past 6 am is so frustrating, not fun or challenging, just annoying. especially if you leave Monty's boss fight for after 6 am, if you don't know what you're doing, you can die so easily and getting back to the previous point you were from that post 6 am save is the worst possible thing.

The puzzles that are in the game are hilariously bad. Mazercise makes me want to die, it doesn't make a single lick of sense. The Daycare Theater secret room is pretty fun, though! Princess Quest was boring. Monty's boss fight is a bit challenging and decently entertaining. Roxy and Chica's "puzzles" are so, so bad and boring. Roxy, you climb through the room, do some minor stealthing and then you're done. Chica, you run around a trash heap and turn a few generators on and then you're done. Superstar Arcade was pretty good, the music was great and puzzle was serviceable.

This game is non linear, and that is completely to its detriment. They give you the choice of Fazerblast or Monty Golf. Monty Golf is objectively easier, with little to no challenge, as you can move around freely inside Freddy. Once you reach the office, Freddy assures you that they "know you're here." Monty never showed up. Fazerblast, however, involves you needing to beat a mini game of Capture the Flag, whilst Chica is actively pursuing you in a very small enclosed laser tag arena. Once you reach the office in Fazerblast, Freddy repeats the same line as Monty Golf except several S.T.A.F.F bots appear in the very small Fazerblast lobby. I don't mention the choice of El Chips or the Kitchen because the only difference is a short "defend the office" section or making pizza. El Chips and Monty Golf lack the content and difficulty that the other two offer.

I got my hands on a copy of the release version, and the fact the game was SOLD in that state is disgusting. I had to glitch onto Roxy Raceway in order to beat her, because Superstar Arcade was bugged and wouldn't let me repair the driver head. They fixed the deloading the map when you jump as you hide in Freddy that was present in the release version, by not allowing you to enter Freddy whilst you're jumping. You couldn't skip cutscenes in the release version, either.

This game may be "patched", but it's still extremely buggy for lots of people. You can miss a gift in Daycare and have to restart, because there's no way you can obtain it without replaying Daycare as once you're banned you can't return. Keep in mind, you need this gift for an achievement.

It's a shame because there's so much love into the design of this game, and it's seen especially in the amazing map. But the way you're forced to navigate it is unnatural. It wasn't designed to be a stealth game, so their way of forcing it to be is placing S.T.A.F.F bots everywhere who jumpscare you repeatedly and spawn enemies on top of you because their AI is too stupid to discover you on it's own.

To anyone who bought the game wanting a normal, buggy free decent game experience based on the very positive reviews, I am so sorry. Do not buy this game.

too oriented towards small children. i get that it's good to have another generation interested in something, but i feel like this was just ruined for everyone else. also, from what i heard it was really buggy on launch, but i didn't have the game then so i can't speak on that myself. i only got scared even a little bit when playing with rtx on ps5, and even though i have an RTX 3050, it won't let me access the ray tracing option on pc

Okay look, this is a horrible FNAF game.
I do not need to introduce you to this game, it's Security Breach, we all know about this..

I am not fond of SteelWool as a developer, it does not surprise me that this VR studio could not handle a full open world type game, and tbh I think it would be dumb to assume that they could.
I do not want to come across as "punching SteelWool just because" but having recently replayed this game I cannot help but think "What the hell did they even patch?"
I played this game when it came out and honestly.. what did they do? Like yeah sure they did obviously do a lot, just take a look at their patch logs. But it feels like nothing has changed..

This game, at the point of this review, is still insanely buggy and has game breaking glitches that seemingly will never get patched. The last time they rolled out a Patch was in August 2023 and it looks like they moved on from SB, leaving it in this state and still charging 34€ for this game.
Thankfully this is not a 60/70€ title, but they better be working in silence on this game because despite all the patches, despite the RUIN DLC, I still feel ripped off..
I am not saying that they "Have to stick with this game forever" or anything, but didn't they say that they will give SB long term support?

The level design is also such a hit or miss, some parts, like Fazerblast look great, whereas the Maze gives me PTSD.
The Maze is easily the worst location in the entire game and I do not understand why they included it.
I love the idea of this game. an open world FNAF sounds like a dream and I remember back in 2015 thinking how cool this could be, well I think I now understand that a "open world FNAF" is not a good idea just because it needs to be done right, and that is no easy task.
I love the aesthetic this game has, the theme of the Pizzaplex is great and is easily one of the game's strong suits. However.. it is hard to enjoy this area when it is not scary at all, everything being lit up makes the map look good, but it also makes the game a cakewalk to go through.

Not to mention the horrible AI in this game, chases are easily avoided thanks to Freddy, but then sometimes the game just glitches out and suddenly you have animatronics teleporting behind you constantly for a while while you are trying to walk through a STAFF Bot infested Mall.
The amount of STAFF Bots they added to this game is just criminal, they knew that having just 3 Animatronics chase you sometimes is too boring so they opted to spam the maps with countless of "HAH GOT YOU" Jumpscare machines that get old after the second one.

The Animatronics having a personality is fine on the surface, it just makes me dislike 2 out of the 3 enemy animatronics, aka Roxy and Monty.
It feels like they poured a ton of time into Roxy, making her insanely self obsessed and unlikable (tbh I only like her in Ruin), meanwhile Monty has "I am angry, raaaaa" as a personality. I rather just take the silent animatronics out of FNAF 1.
Or a more fair comparison, Sister Location, those animatronics also talked and had personality, and it was done right.
A bold choice to remove Bonny and Foxy from the roster, as they easily are the most liked ones.
Now if this was a choice by SteelWool or Scott, I do not know, but I mean HEY LETS BRING BACK AFTON RIGHT?

Let me briefly talk about the DLC..
RUIN is for sure the better game, it removes the Open World for a more linear experience and I think this is the way forward for them, they can actually make a decent experience with linear levels.
SteelWool seems to have ideas, but as we know from the 10 Year Anniversary from Scott, he (Scott) did not communicate properly with SteelWool and the Director of this game had to piece all of this together.
Ruin works, I have less issues with this DLC..

But let's get back to Security Breach. The multiple endings I feel like was added purely because "Well, FNAF has multiple endings, so we have to". But they took this and cranked that up to 900% with endings that just do not really make sense, look bad and made people confused as to what the canon ending even was. Some are comic strips and some are fully animated. Which made people (and me) assume that endings like the Afton ending were canon, but apparently no, the Princess Quest ending comic strip is the actual one.
Vanny/Vanessa was also such a joke, what a way to ruin FNAF's next antagonist. Vanny had so much potential, but they fumbled the bag with her to the extent that they seemingly want to make the Mimic the next big bad evil guy.
I will admit, I am not good with the FNAF lore, I pretty much stopped looking at the lore after FNAF 4 and only know the key details from SL and FNAF 6. I have 0 clue about the books and ngl, I do not wish to get into those xD

Alright so, it sucks. The performance of this game is so horrendous that my PC cannot play this game smoothly and have constant stutter and loading issues ON AN SSD.
Like yeah sure, I run a Intel Arc, but come on this card runs other Unreal Engine games just fine. If the performance would only be a "consistent bad" then sure I would lower my settings from the highest to medium or smth, but in some areas I get 100 FPS, in some I get 30, makes sense..
Ray Tracing also seems to be a Nvidia only feature, which sucks. I would love to try the RT features again and not absolutely destroy my performance because the 2060 can ray trace "in theory".

Not to mention, I ran out of VRAM once, on a 8GB card, how the hell?
Some devices, like the PS5 and the Steam Deck of all things, run this game just fine. But I would cry if this game had performance issues on the PS5, not because the PS5 is a insanely powerful console, but because IT WAS MADE FOR IT.
Remember that Security Breach was supposed to be a PS5 timed exclusive title. Which seems to be a theme with SteelWool, they really do love the PlayStation ecosystem. Their next game was shown on their Twitter with PSVR2.
Like yeah cool and all but the core fanbase of FNAF is on the PC, not a console..
Don't get me wrong, I am not "PC Master race, screw consoles" or anything. I like that more and more games are becoming cross platform. But that does not mean I like when developers make a game for a certain console and shoddily port it to PC.
I will not get into Help Wanted 1 and 2 here, as this is a Security Breach review and those two games have their own Store pages. But my trust in this dev is broken and I will most likely not be supporting them with my money in the future unless they actually deliver a good game.

I could go on and on, but let's just say this:
I genuinely hate how games like Cyberpunk got ripped apart and was deemed one of the worst launches / games. Meanwhile Security Breach in comparison has only gotten a pat on the back.
Cyberpunk has gotten so many fixes and patches where it essentially is a completely different game now, it is good.
Security Breach is left in ruins, buggy as hell, feels awful to play and is only fun in the sense of "haha so buggy"..
How is this game "Very Positive" on Steam..

I came back to this game recently because I bought it and then never ended up beating it. Well, I've gotta say the game as a whole is not the best. Quality wise though. I do have to admit that I did have some fun playing through it and laughing at all the bugs while screensharing to my friends. It may have just been my autistic adhd brain being easily entertained but idk. I really only have one thing to say about this game and that is that it could've been better. Still though, bad quality, still relatively fun, (if that even makes sense lol).

Terrible game, too buggy, quests are boring, animatronics are broken and have terrible ai. Steel Wool Studios need to learn how to actually make a functional game and not release a extremly buggy mess which is not fun to play through.

I had so much fun makeing videos and playing with my brother ive been playing these games for years i hope you like this game as much as i have over the last 9 years

SB is the first FNaF game i wasn't able to complete because it's boring, and it feels like torture when you're trying to "play" this game (I'm making a huge compliment to this when I'm saying that this is a game) I'll explain why.

1. So, first and the most annoying thing is lags every 10-15 minutes and it's not because my PC is bad, it's because this game loads itself in real time while you playing it so lags are welcome here.

2. It has less bugs and more than 2 graphics settings, so that means that someone is actually working on the game and cares about it (It's actually a plus).

3. Graphics is very bad, low res textures and sqare shadows, wow, are you sure you're not making Minecraft 2?

4. Did I mentioned before that gameplay feels like torture? Indeed it is because it says to find something, but where is it? Good question because now you have to waste a lot of time trying to find it and when you do they will tell you "now go to another place and find another thing" so gameplay is simple: you randomly touched trigger that says that you need to find something, you found it, and now you need to find another something (that's not full gameplay but the biggest part if it).

5. I can only say one thing about this game lore to not spoiler anything: stop smoking weed it's really hurts your brain.

I've never thrown up my hands in sheer confusion in any other game more than this one.

Within just 3 days of buying this I have gone through, got all achievements (which included needing to do a second playthrough) AND completed the free DLC. I gotta say, I owe Security Breach a huge apology. Wrote it off "not my thing" when it first came out. I was simply unaware of it's

I would say that Sb is more on the open world side than actualy being scary. The game is fun but not a game you should by as a horror. Cuz i only bought Sb for Ruin.

I would say that Ruin is a better more scary version of Sb. Cuz i feel like they only made this cuz Sb was a BIG failure in scarynes. Its still fun and good gameplay But uses more horror than Sb. Cuz i only bought Sb for Ruin

The real security breach was the sheer amount of bugs/glitches that made it into the final game

This game is like a car crash. It's horrific and broken, but I can't stop looking at it.

I have played this game for hours! and loved every second! i havent experienced many glitches, bugs, or crashes. game plays smoothly. It feels like a nice challenge for me mind you I struggle with the older games so take that with a pinch of salt. Fun, Challenging and sometimes very funny!

This game sucks and needs to be fixed.

I did NOT laugh when I got my head served on a platter many times in a span of 20 minutes by Vanny. I didn’t laugh when I got chased by Glamrock Chica, Monty, and Roxy - especially when our Roxy over here decided to be a total bitch and opened the curtain at the photobooth where I was hiding.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. I have a major skill issue when it comes to these types of games, and my suicidal rate has gone up by at least 50% after playing this game.

OH, BUT THE BEST PART HASN'T EVEN COME YET.

I AM NOT EVEN THAT FAR IN THE GAME. I just had my second encounter with the devil itself, and I think that's enough. I am sick and tired of being incredibly bad at this game.

amazing. a bit difficult to do the missions though so far the best FNaF game I've ever played. Freddy is useless as hell though

I can't say enough about how impressive this game is. The creativity, the longevity of the campaign.. And most amazing is the aesthetics. this is a beautiful game. It's similar in nature to My Friendly Neighborhood (can't recommend that game enough) but I think the execution is even better.

The atmosphere is fantastic, and one thing this game nails that many often fail at is the overall scale. You actually feel like you are in an amusement park with how large the world is. It isn't awkwardly small.

Simple overall, avoid enemies while getting to a certain location or locating an item, with some mini games thrown in. Overall very well done, and recommended for even those that have no idea what FNAF is (as I really didn't but picked up on this game quickly).

Look, this game is honestly a pretty bad game. it is not that fun. The story is convoluted. Freddy is a fucking dumbass. The map is a maze with no rooms labeled on the map on where to go. the animatronics can teleport and get you from where ever you are, as well as get you from 10 feet away. this game was a chore to play as well as taking a 10th of my entire computers storage. through all of that I still beat the game to make my 40 dollars spent on this game worth something, and I will never do it again. for the love of god don't download this game unless you are a tryhard gamer who wants to beat every Fnaf game.

The graphics are solid but the game can be quite confusing. Altough it can be quite challenging on the other side.

PS: The Ruin DLC is quite the same, just additional content.

3 years later still horribly optimized.

My siblings and I have worked very hard on this game and dedicated over 96 hours and 60 dollars but because of a glitch in the game, we cannot continue. We turned on all 3/3 generators which is then supposed to allow a door to open underground to enter staffbot silo but it will not open for us. It is deeply discouraging to work so hard on a game and look forward to beating it. therefore, until our game issue is resolved i absolutely DO NOT recommend this game for purchase. I hope this issue is resolved quickly, until then kiss my ahh.

I'm not good at video games... but this game really makes you feel like you're running in circles. Its not even the fact that the tasks you do don't fit the story line well, its also that the tasks themselves are straight up impossible to figure out without outside guidance of some kind.

Perhaps the second worst game I have ever played in my life. Only play this if you're an any% speedrunner who loves to break game boundaries.

I gave up on trying to beat it on release because of the bugs making the game nigh unplayable. I heard that the game was patched and the bugs were gone, but clearly they weren't. In just 1 hour of playing, I encountered 2 softlocks, 5 massive FPS drops, a hard crash, and many audio issues. Not worth your money

As a long-time FNAF fan, I wasn’t too sure about how much I would actually enjoy it, considering how different it is from past games. However, I found that I liked it more than I thought I would! Of course, it’s buggy sometimes and glitchy other times, and I got swarmed with multiple Montys several times, but even with the flaws, I had a wonderful time playing! 

The story, graphics, and playthrough were a nice change of pace from the past games (not to diss them or anything; I love them dearly), and I enjoyed being able to roam around the Pizzaplex and take in all the details. The animatronics have personality, Gregory is full of sass, and the ambiance/music is great to listen to. I spent a lot of time in the Daycare just vibing to the goofy song. 

I may be biased considering how many hours I have in it, but I definitely recommend this game. Even with its buggy nature and occasionally back-and-forth tasks, it was fun to play and figure out each ending.

Whoever boosted this games reviews to mostly positive was a die hard fan of the franchise, a furry bumper, or just plain into torture. I can't even enjoy the massive map and details in this game because there's always something up my ass, that's why most people go watch someone hack the walls and run around. Some of the game play is SOOO not needed to make things complicated, that at this point this could have been introduced as a souls-like.

Freddy is a dopey guy who if you need him will run to you in the last spot you summoned him, as if you must play chicken with the other animatronics but no where in the description did it mention this was a chicken race.

Then some of the puzzles are so over complicated with zero explanation that you can find a plethora of good hearted nerds with diagrams and explaining what the game lacked to tell you.

I've managed to glitch myself through walls trying to hide or get in freddy several times. Freddy has also refused to open his case, opened doors on the wrong side with the claws, and just generally be Alexa on her Amazon Updates and malfunction. He might as well be a sleeper agent.

The game reacts faster than your watch so... not unless you are a baby crib hugger who is sitting in bins constantly (I have ADHD and lack this feature in my own brain), then damn this should've been called TOM CLANCY: FNAF RECON. I hid in a trashcan on Roxy who was two rooms away and she walked all through the cameras and just came in and grabbed my punk robot ass. WITHOUT EYES.

The games audio? Trash. Who and Where are you when you tell me I have no friends from 3 floors, 120 feet away, 80 miles into 6 rooms away. But when you are on top of me the only word you can say is OH GREGORY.

Don't even get me started about the immediate instant transmission on top of my booty hole and grabbing me before my off brand TrashBin Dingo can run around the corner to save me. All because you heard me from two floors away or a watch guy caught me with several inches between me and his flashlight because the AWARE boxes keep changing

You don't even know how this LITTLE boy ended up here, beside speculation and what people finally confirmed AFTER its release. You think after giving me maps and knowing what the heck everyone is talking about they'd mark shit on my map. But no, no map markers in a massive over sized pizza MALL, but Freddy knows the whole place according to him. I have to try and learn to read while the Furs are chasing me down for their anime convention.

CHICA gets the ability to apparently teleport, let's just cast out her one trait she gains after she was the slowest of the bunch. Because they all can do it when you get caught or make a sound, poor thing is irrelevant because she isn't yellow with the bungloos anymore. OH and its past 6am in my play through, I haven't taken her voice box still, and she's already doing her new trick. C:

My reward for playing this is general filled curiosity about the game, wasted money, and hoping RUINS dlc is a better time. If you don't understand my review its because you aren't autistic like me, haven't bought it, die-hard fan, or hope Roxy can send noodles.

Don't buy not unless its like 10 dollars.

I wanted to enjoy Security Breach more than I did, but it just feels unfinished and janky. I'm not sure if Ruin is worth continuing because I feel like I ran around turning on generators enough in the main story. There's clearly a lot of potential for this game. The characters and story are interesting, and the concept is excellent horror game material.

P.S. The security bots can fuck right off. Every last one of them!

While they actually fixed a lot of the performance issues, and the game looks good.
I don't think it's worth its money. Its just not scary at all, more just sad.

Also it still got these annoying framedrops. Even tho my PC is 3 times better than its required.
Get the older Fnaf games or anything else, this sadly is a waste of money.

I recommend this game. While i do admit that the game is really buggy and the game doesn't run smoothly for many, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach has a great story, the new mechanics like going inside Freddy's stomach hatch are awesome, the recharge stations and saving stations work really great in my opinion. I do not believe that the game should get as much hate as it does, even in 2025.

This game has so many inconsistencies and frankly baffling design decisions, terrible pacing, a ridiculous amount of bugs, also it runs very poorly. Feels weirdly amateur.

I did have fun at points, but by the last couple of hours I was just begging to see the credits.

This game gave me nightmares. This game even gave me PTSD and I didnt even think that was possible. I never want to play this game ever again. Most unpleasent experience ever. I still have flashbacks to this day.

This game was good, it was buggy but over all game play it was intresting, there is multiple endings and its not to hard. It is kind of scary but not to much. The best thing about this game is that you get to chill with Music Man. I RECOMMEND.

What is there to say about this game that hasn't been said already, its buggy at times, its noticeably unfinished in areas, and the story is a mess.However this is also an extremely fun game with lots of potential. The Pizzaplex is a really cool location probably the best in the series and is really fun to learn your way around. The Glamrocks themselves are great my favorite of all FNAF animatronics with actual personality, their also the biggest let down as nothing is really done with them their just kinda there. overall 8/10 the story is a mess the animatronics are great but go nowhere, and the game play and location are great.

It'd be nice if they went back to fix all the bugs. I can't even play because of Freddy's chica voice box upgrade mini-game. It's literally bugged. Even hitting the right notes just don't work at all anymore. Even the animations spawning right on top of you out of nowhere. The game itself visually is really good but with the bugs it just becomes really hard to enjoy it. Especially when said bugs prevent any progression through the game at all. I want to play the ruin dlc but I don't want to make too much progress in it if it'll just pop out a random bug preventing me from playing. Kindly fix this game so I can actually play it.

Very anti-climatic ending and the secret ending is just sloppy.
Not scary what-so-ever and the graphics are horrible at times, so pixelated it feels like it was made when the first game takes place
The Mazercize puzzle might be the most poorly designed puzzle throughout every game I've played, took me over an hour WITH TUTORIALS
I have MANY MANY other complaints, if this game interests you just look up a video and watch someone else play it. Don't give this company your money
