A very well presented post apocalyptic games that, even after almost 11 years, is most certainly enjoyable. Made by goated studio and published by goated publisher.
Always highly recommended.
The epitome of the Metro franchise. Everything a sequel should be. 4a really took their criticism from 2033, improved it, and gave us an incredible story/experience (on true ranger mode). The bonus missions/levels are a welcome addition to the main game.
if your planning on playing this game just play it its peak no need for any other words its just peak (dont forget to play the others tho)
I love this game series.
In my opinion this is the best metro game the atmospheer is perfect game mechanics are good and its verry imersive The best way oh sorry the only way how to play it is with the hud turned off at the max dificulty.
and becose these games I have started reading metro books soo its that good that it got me to read books nothink more has to be said.
Very good ending I loved it even going back through the game to get the good ending.
Metro: Last Light Redux is probably my favorite Metro game.
Before buying this game definitely buy Metro: 2033 if you care about the story (which is the biggest part of the game). This is one of my favorite games to play while listening to music, and the ambience, atmosphere, and characters are amazing. Lots of betrayal and a strip club. While there are some parts I got stuck, I came back a few days later, looked up how to do it, and got through. My main complaint is that it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get the good ending, and you have to go through a fuck ton of shit just to get a different ending.
IMHO, 6/10 game. While I do love it to death, it is WAY too hard to get the good ending and there are many points where you might get stuck.
Honestly?
The story - 10/10
I will keep this short, because I don't want to spoil anything, but I love the fact that there are different endings and a morality system tied to both. They did that in the first game (I have it on steam because it was free for the 15th anniversary, but I played it on my old 360), and both times I think it was amazing. The good ending feels good to get, and the bad ending genuinely made me feel bad, so I guess it did its job.
Guns - 9/10
I know these ratings are high, but I thoroughly enjoyed the guns and the gun-play, I think it should be the "gold standard" for games. For example, they sort of give you a sense of progression with different weapons and attachments the longer the games go on. Some of them suck (the pistol upgrade. Like. Why would you even use it? Its just a weaker, faster shooting revolver that doesn't do as much damage. For a ammo type you cant carry a lot of to begin with. I think its just silly.), but some of them; like the upgrades to the AR, shotguns, and snipers, genuinely change how I played the game. The assault rifles all feel good to use, and get more "spray and pray-ish" as the game goes on. And you could say the same for the shotguns, but the double barrel holds up throughout the entire game, and I really think that it's just the best gun in the game. And the snipers, you get one that has a two-tap body, one-tap head, and then a one-tap all over. The trade off being, you carry less ammo for the latter of the options. I think this is good because it promotes skill if you want to conserve resources.
Characters - 8/10
I would give this a 10/10, because I think all the characters are great, Like how could you not like Khan? He single-handedly carried the cast in both games, even if you didn't like the characters, Khan made the games an easy 11/10 in this category. Buuuut. There is a single character, Anna. Shes supposed the be the love interest, and I heard she has a major role in the third game, which I'm excited to play (once I get the damn thing working). But in this game, you barely know her, and I feel like, as a person, not a character, she just, erodes around you? She just stops being all cool, and becomes, in general, a lot more "feminine", an I really didn't like that. I guess it would make sense if you had more time around her, but you don't. You see her for like, 4? Maybe 5 missions? Its so odd how she just, becomes softer to everyone after meeting you. But that's my only complaint. Love her to death, shes pretty and cool, and I find it funny on the second mission on the latter how she'll tell you to stop staring at her ass, but I feel like she was just, underutilized. I'm so excited to see her in the second game though.
DLC - 7.5/10
I have no words for the TOWER DLC. But, all the other DLC is great. It offers some cool world building, as well as some unique perspectives into how different things happen in-universe, by playing as different characters. most are good, and some are just exceptional. My favorite, and the one I hate the most right next to tower, is the spider nest one. It's such a great mix of horror and world building. And the ending is so soul crushing, which is why I hate it and love it, all at the same time.
The world - 8/10
I do not know what is wrong with me, but I have been on a "Russian Media" binge for a while. Not a big binge, but I've taken a weird interest in it. The game lets you eavesdrop on conversations a lot of the time, and that itself humanizes the NPC's and enemies. Hearing a Nazi talk about how he can't wait to go home and be a normal human, hanging out with friends, almost makes it a little harder when I bash his skull in. And the journal entries give insight to the main character, Artyom, himself. I will say one thing though. They do the cyberpunk thing, with having strip clubs in your face sometimes, and I think that they've always been a cool world building tool. But I accidentally paid for a dance and I was sat for a whole minute, and I am not gonna lie, it was a little embarrassing. Other than that, I think that its way of indirectly telling you about the world and its people is great, and I love when this happens, because it becomes easier for me to understand if I care enough about the world to stop and listen, and I did in this case. However, I also feel like that lazy people, like me in some cases, would just blaze bast things and not care. While that's not the games fault, I still wish there could be a way that I could learn more without stopping every couple of seconds, or reading walls of text to have more insight on the game. Side not, Artyom just, never talks, and its so unnerving. I just pretend he is "100 yard staring" when we play as him, but its so weird. He obviously speaks, he talks to people outside of missions, but never during. Maybe its a personal thing, but it just freaks me out.
Overall, I think the game is amazing. It felt easier than the first, in terms of getting endings. Maybe because I wasn't thinking when I played the first one, and I didn't know about the morality thing, but I guess it doesn't matter because if "cannon endings" and whatnot. The game, easily 8-8.5/10. Its on sale pretty often. Buy it and enjoy it. stay behind people who guide you on escort missions. Immerse yourself. Also, note: The bad ending genuinely sucks. It's more emotional and moral trouble than it is worth to get. I think if you get it first, knowing there is two endings, that there is just genuinely a problem with you. I couldn't understand why people would actively SEEK OUT being a bad person. On top of that, it is so easy to stay in the "morally correct" path, and I actively had to seek out being a bad person in order to get the achievement. I think that, depending on the ending you get, it might show you how you would really act in this situation.
Anyway, I'm gonna post this without rereading it for spell checks or to see if my writing is cringe. Like I said, buy the game. Immerse yourself. Its pretty cool man, I don't know what else to add to my word salad.
love this game so far and they fixed the bad stuff from the previous game
I’ve liked Metro: Last Light Redux for a long time, and my opinion hasn’t changed. Even though it’s 11 years old, it still has one of the best stories and atmospheres I’ve seen in a game. The world feels dark and real.
It’s better than many new single-player games today. The game looks good, plays well, and the feeling it gives is something special. It’s a great example of how a game can stay amazing for years.I really wish there were more games like this.
Druga gra metro, równie klimatyczna. Poznajemy dalsze losy Artema, który w kolejnej powieści nie dostał tyle czasu co w tej grze
The stealth in this game is easy because everyone is deaf from firing guns in enclosed tunnels
The game presents the events that take place after the missiles were fired at the Botanical Garden by stalkers. The player once again takes on the role of Artyom, a chosen one from the VDNKh station, who was accepted into the elite Spartan Order. His old friend Khan informs Colonel Miller that he has noticed a surviving Shadow in the remains of the Botanical Garden. Miller orders Artyom to eliminate him. He goes there as bait. The colonel's daughter, Anna, is to carry out the assassination. Unfortunately, the mission fails and, due to many coincidences, the hero sets off in pursuit of the last of the Shadows. Along the way, he discovers the criminal plans of a very ambitious general from the Red Line and must stop the approaching Great War of the last remnants of humanity at all costs.
✅ The atmosphere is perfect, gloomy and scary
✅ A lot of weapons to modify
✅ An engaging story
✅ Omnipresent darkness
✅ Good graphics
✅ Reflection on war, suffering and how people are able to cope
✅ Difficulty levels
✅ Nicely realized stealth stages
✅ Two types of enemies
✅ DLC + 9 additional missions (Sniper Squad, Kshatriya, Heavy Squad, Tower, Spider Nest, Creator, Pawel, Chan, Anna
✅ Two endings (The good ending is very hard to achieve)
✅ Great sound
✅ Economy (saving ammo = because it's currency
✅ Intriguing characters
✅ Two ways to complete some missions (killing silently or loudly)
✅ I didn't notice any bugs
✅❌ Linear style of play that limits exploration of the world
❌Limited number of options related to graphics settings
❌The good ending should be easier to achieve
It's very good,as good as 2033,Artyom really is a solider of the Metros
Metro: Last Light builds on the atmospheric foundation of Metro 2033, offering a more refined gameplay experience, deeper story development, and stronger emotional beats. It’s a direct continuation of Artyom’s journey, now grappling with the consequences of his decisions and the fragile politics of the metro’s fractured society.
Pros:
Stronger narrative and characters: The story delves into loyalty, guilt, ideology, and redemption. Artyom is more expressive, and the supporting cast (like Khan, Anna, and Pavel) are well-written and memorable.
Improved gunplay and stealth: Compared to 2033, combat feels much smoother, with better aiming, weapon customization, and smarter enemy AI. Stealth is more viable and satisfying.
Stunning atmosphere: Light, shadow, sound design, and music work together beautifully. From claustrophobic tunnels to ruined surface cities, the game remains consistently immersive.
More variety in pacing: Action-heavy sections are well-balanced with quiet moments, horror sequences, and philosophical conversations. The story is more dynamic this time around.
Moral choices & multiple endings: Subtle decisions affect the outcome of the story, encouraging more thoughtful play and even multiple playthroughs.
Redux edition enhancements: The Redux version improves performance, adds features from Metro: Last Light into 2033, and smooths out mechanics and visuals across the board.
Cons:
Still quite linear: Like its predecessor, the game is structured tightly around a story path. There’s limited exploration, despite the detailed environments.
Occasional tonal shifts: Some moments of forced action or "gamey" boss encounters can feel out of place in an otherwise grounded, serious narrative.
AI quirks: Stealth is better, but not perfect—enemies can behave unrealistically at times if you experiment too much.
Conclusion:
Metro: Last Light is a brilliant continuation of Artyom’s story, with upgraded gameplay, deeper worldbuilding, and more emotional weight. It retains everything that made 2033 special while addressing many of its shortcomings. For fans of story-driven shooters with a dark, immersive atmosphere, this is a must-play—and one of the best single-player FPS campaigns of its generation.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely loved this game. From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience. The story was rich and dramatic, full of twists that kept me hooked the entire time. Every moment felt meaningful, and the characters were written with so much depth it was easy to get emotionally attached.
What really brought everything together was the sound design. The music? Just perfect—emotional, intense, and always fitting the mood. And the in-game conversations? So well-acted and natural that it made the world feel alive. The voice acting, ambient sounds, and soundtrack worked together to pull me deeper into the story like I was really there.
Easily one of the best games I’ve played in a long time.
I liked this much better than the previous game. The atmosphere is good, and the story really picks up the pace after the halfway mark. Combat is decent but the ammo you buy from stores is really very weak compared to the 'special' bullets. There is even some boobies. 7/10
Play 2033 first, and then enjoy this fantastic sequel to that amazing game.
Then play Exodus, you will not be disappointed.
This game improves on the flaws that Metro 2033 had and made the game better to play compared to 2033. Though one thing that didn't change and still the same is how to get good and bad ending which isn't good, because the game thinks what you did was wrong even though morally it would be right and leaves me confused as a result,. overall a fun game, however they need to fix the way endings are earned.
One of the best game I have ever played.
I really liked the Metro 2033 and somehow it is even better than that. Must Try.
5/5
Recommended (but with a technical warning)
Specs: RTX 3060 | Ryzen 5 5600 | 16 GB RAM
Metro: Last Light is an excellent sequel that continues the story of Metro 2033 in a coherent and engaging way. The narrative is one of its strongest aspects, with well-developed characters and a dark, gritty post-apocalyptic world full of tension.
While it's not a full-on horror game, it creates a consistently oppressive atmosphere that keeps you on edge throughout. There are some genuinely unsettling moments, but it never relies on cheap jump scares. Combat is satisfying and flexible—whether you prefer stealth or going in loud—and the controls are intuitive and easy to grasp from the start.
Visually, it still holds up very well. The art direction is top-notch, with great lighting and highly detailed environments. The music and sound design also do a fantastic job of enhancing immersion.
HOWEVER, I have to point out a serious issue: the game has completely frozen my PC around 4 or 5 times, forcing a manual restart. This isn’t just a crash to desktop—it locks up the entire system. With an RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5 5600, this really shouldn’t be happening, so there may be some compatibility or stability problems even on relatively modern hardware.
That said, I still recommend the game for its story, atmosphere, and gameplay. Just be aware that technical issues can happen.
If you’re into narrative-driven shooters with a strong sense of place and mood, this one is absolutely worth your time—just make sure to save often, just in case.
Excellent game, the history, gameplay, graphics...
Really loved the story, gamplay very enjoyable, sections can be tedious at times like the boat sequence where these mutated water like creatures attack you and you need to defend your boat
Finally finished this game. This game is my first game in metro series. This game is fun to play.
Unfortunately while i do recommend this game, I do think this is the weakest game in the series. i recently 100% the complete edition and it just reinforced this for me. While Metro Last Light expands alot of its lore from its predecessor, it does it while having a similar runtime to Metro 2033. This makes the game feel superficial, and forced at times. a great example of this is Anna.
Anna is what ruined alot of them game for me. She is easily the worst written character in the entire game. She goes from hating you, to suddenly becoming your lover. There is no character development at all. Now you can try explaining your relationship with her by claiming that she felt guilty for not being able to save you, and later becoming the damsel in distress. But again it feels forced. it feels like the only reason she is there is just to get you to sleep with the captains daughter.
Another example is Lesnitsky. On my first playthrough i had trouble following the plot because of him. He is only mentioned once until you meet him which is right at the start of the game, and only through gossip which you are a part of to be fair. Because i had missed this dialogue (which to be fair you have to hear while progressing) I did not know who he was, which was odd because at one point he was a commanding officer at Sparta; an organization you are a part of. Again this is partly my fault because i had not listened to that dialogue, but because of the pacing of the game, and because of the short runtime of Last light, it makes it harder to follow along the story.
There are 2 dlc levels which i found to be boring and annoying. That being Library and Tower. Library was just boring for me, The level drags on unnecessarily. There is no point to buying better gear other that the radiation suit. Tower was just an annoying wave defense which lasts for 30 min.
Other than that the game is good. Like I said it expands upon the lore, and i appreciate constant unfolding of the story, not knowing how it will end, or not knowing how the story will progress. That is how a story should be told.
movement has always been a bit clunky in Metro, bosses are very easy and unnecessary. from what i understand they were sort of pushed to add it by the publishers because it was trendy at the time. There are a few other nitpicks i have with the game like there being a section, where you can prevent a certain action being performed on a woman, but there is nothing further there; she will just sit there and cry, while you gain the moral point sound ruining the moment. There are also complaints of the unpredictable morality system leading to the endings; I did not have this issue, so i can't say much on that.
I enjoyed playing Last Light despite its faults, so it is definitely worth playing, especially if your'e a fan of the series like i am.
Great story, great "side" characters that actually feels alive rather than a simple npc. Ammo is scarce, the mask needs to be wiped off, flashlight needs charging. It feels like a realistic survival game.
It's weird playing through the Redux double package. Since they moved the gameplay improvements from this entry retroactively to 2033, this now feels like a Part 2 of a whole package.
Fortunately, the game is a step up in the writing department. It is much less a series of repetitive missions with different people leading the way. Instead we get more of an adventure to atone for your past, with the occasional side character. Unfortunately, these side characters of Metro's world are still a little underdeveloped, this is especially noticeable with the first woman with important dialogue in the series, Anna. I have heard, thankfully, that the next game apparently steps up in this regard.
The game does pepper background characters throughout its HUBs though. I listened in on most of the missable conversations, and they breathe life into the world pretty effectively.
Within it's excellent atmosphere, there are still some interesting themes woven throughout, with the game's exploration of understanding other lifeforms. They're not tied into the gameplay as effectively as much as I'd like (killing whole hordes to spare the final leader reeks of ludonarrative dissonance to me). Still, it tries. Certainly more than most FPS games out there.
This time through I was a good boi, it felt more like the right thing for the story this time. Its final third was more effective for the mistakes I made in 2033. I'm not sure if the experience is better or worse knowing about the karma system. Regardless, messing up in the first game and then doing things right (mostly) this time around felt like the more interesting story.
If anyone wants an FPS that feels like it's actually trying to say something, I would certainly recommend Last Light and 2033.

Good game, like the previous, but more modern bigger better.
The definitive way of playing the game. It contains the DLCs (now unavailable on the original release), a few graphical improvements and a more sensible amount of achievements.
this game was good, but the fucking sundown level made me quit me personally i like the first and exodus
This is a really good game. And this is a lot more refined than the first game on Steam, it's got basically no bugs and overall I find it an upgrade in most areas as well. The stealth sections are a lot of fun, I will say though that the AI are dumb. At one point I knocked out like 6 enemies basically in the same spot. The graphics are decent too, nothing too special but it holds up considering its age.
I'd give the game a solid 8/10.
After 15 hours of sparing people, knocking out bad guys, finding lost teddy bears and sparing my enemies and teaching the dark ones of forgiveness, they still let me die. 10/10
At first I didnt like it as much as the first one but in the end I think its overall a better game and a great sequel. 8/10
Shout out to my special ops sniper baddie :3
p.s. basically lived through the whole Thorfinn development arc after having a kid follow me around
Game crashes every five minutes, and sometimes it just freezes the PC (even worse than 2033 somehow). Ranger hardcore difficulty is just stupid because in some cutscenes we need to press E, but oh no, I can't know that because I can't see the UI that tells me to press the button, so how should I know that? (And there is not even an achievement for finishing the game on ranger hardcore mode, so it is completely worthless.) While coming to the end of the game, all my diaries disappeared, and my save file got corrupted, so I had to collect all of them again on my second gameplay. So, of course, still I'm going to get all the achievements and recommend this game. The game is good.
Fun game and campaign played mostly on the steam deck and it runs pretty well.
It's actually so peak oml, just like the last one ( also play this one before it becomes real )
Fun game with campaign, small bugs here and there, nothing major, overall I recommend it
I really loved the first game because of the great fun I had playing it, the only downside was it only took like 17 hours to 100% it. last light continues that fun and multiplies it! especially with some extra content at the end.
spoiler : as a sequel this game just hits right with the redemption ending for the wrong you did in the last game!
had 2 problems with this game tho : lots of crashes and one extra content being so annoying (talking about tower mission) I had to press G multiple times to skip it XD.
10/10 game idc about crashes!
A great sequel to the first game, the improvements are noticable and the world of post apocalyptic Moscow exciting and nerve-wracking as ever.
Un super fps solo qui mélange infiltration et découverte avec une super histoire.
Just like the first game in the series, a gem that takes you back to the golden years of games and gaming. Great story, great gameplay, ... it's metro!
Travelled through half a country for help and then ended up blowing misunderstood creatures. 10/10
Amazing. In many ways better than the first. Story feels deeper. The world building still fantastic. Although the ending did not hold up at all. The game all of a sudden became the shooter it was so much better than previously.
I also had some issues with crashing.
Metro Last Light Takes Place 1 year after Metro 2033 and it improved a lot
This game takes notes from The Metro 2034 Book Like Metro 2033 did with 2033
And i liked the storytelling in this game it did make sense although the Models can look like plasic at times
You won't notice it under such amazing Combat and More that this game has to offer
Combat in general in this game feels really great and Realisic although some parts have ages but who is to blame for that
8/10 I did like Metro 2033 a bit more but good Follow up and a great way to make Metro 2034 Come to a game
From my Metro: 2033 review:
'Now, see you all in about a year when I finish Metro: Last Light'
Written... 5 years ago.
Welp, about time I got back to the Metro series with Metro: Last Light. Now, other than this delay just kind of being funny, there is an important reason why I point this out. Although I barely remember anything from the plot of Metro: 2033 at this point, Metro: Last Light did a fantastic job of reintroducing me to the world of Metro, and picking up where I left off 5 years ago. I never felt lost in the story.
Metro continues to be one of the most immersive series of story-based FPS games I've played. With it's extensive mechanics, and weapons that allow for experimentation, and a variety of playstyles, Metro is incredibly rich, and curated series of games.
If I were to criticize one thing, it would be the endings. Both Metro 2033 and Last Light have 2 endings, a Good and Bad ending. In Metro 2033, the bad ending was the canon one, in Last Light the good ending is. At no point in this game does it mention that the ending is determined by an invisible 'morality meter' that judges your actions and how you interact with NPCs. Because of this, most people get the non-canon bad ending, like myself. This would likely confuse people then going into Metro Exodus as that game heavily contradicts the non-canon bad ending, naturally. But, again, since Last Light never explains this system, most wouldn't even know about this, and just assume the game only has one ending, and the franchise purposefully contradicts itself. I think it was needlessly vague, and only serves to confuse people.
All of this wasn't an issue in Metro 2033 as the more common ending, the bad ending, is the canon one, and leads directly into Last Light.
Overall, I give Metro: Last Light:
8.5 Cute Little Baby Dark Ones in Hooman Clothes out of 10
Well, I guess I'll see you all in 10 years when I finish Metro: Exodus.
(good lord, I'll be pushing 40 by then. where does time go?)
I would recommend not just playing this game but also actually finishing it and maybe even beating it twice or more. The story is fantastic, the characters are amazing, and if you want to be action hero man and shoot all the bad guys you can, or if you want to play it like a stealth game you can. I legit love this game because it lets you dictate how you want combat encounters to play out (personally I am a big fan of picking off most of the enemies and then letting the survivors find the bodies so I can ambush them while they are panicking).
However I cannot say the same for some of the DLC. Most of it is really good The Spider, Pavel, Hansa, Sniper, and the DLC where you explore locations from 2033 are all fantastic.
However The Tower DLC is atrociously bad.
In case you don't know anything about the game, The Metro series is at its best when you are taking advantage of stealth to ambush enemies to pick as many of them off as possible to turn the tides in you advantage, as even on the easiest difficulty if you get swarmed at close range by either mutants or humans you will die fast.
The Tower DLC takes place in well lit areas where stealth is impossible and literal actual waves of enemies are coming at you and will be shooting you so much that your aim will be jumping around like a pogo stick. It literally takes the games core mechanic of allowing you to chose how you take fights and throws it out a window.
I could make this review like three paragraphs longer and still not tell you how much I hate this DLC.
That said all of the DLC comes with the game for free, and the Museum DLC does let throw shrimp fights (makes sense in context).
9.5/10 I highly recommend you try this game, hell I completed this game on Ranger Hardcore (the hardest difficulty) because I loved this game that much and got all of the achievements.
The tower DLC is terrible though if you are a completionist don't get that achievement, but if you absolutely have to, do it on the lowest difficulty you will thank me if you do.
Solid game! I enjoyed it a lot more than the first Metro. Definitely worth playing!
Combat 8/10
Story 9.5/10
Atmosphere:10/10
Great story , thrilling gunplay, impressive graphics and sound, This game is the one I keep coming back to.
