Metro: Last Light Redux is the most accurate depiction of what happens when you take one guy, some radioactive tunnels, and a bunch of monsters, and say, 'You know what? Let’s make him walk through this for 30 hours and see what happens.' Spoiler: He’ll be miserable, and I’ll be right there with him, choking on gas fumes.
Metro 2033 Last Light Redux continues the haunting, atmospheric journey that the original game began, taking players even deeper into the psychological and moral depths of a post-apocalyptic world. Building on the narrative foundation laid by its predecessor, Last Light weaves a tale of survival, redemption, and the complex choices that define humanity in the aftermath of nuclear war. As Artyom, you’re not just following a protagonist through a broken world; you’re living his internal conflict, his struggle between hope and despair, love and sacrifice. The story expands on the first game’s themes, exploring the fragility of human existence and the cost of survival, often forcing Artyom to face morally ambiguous situations that challenge his beliefs and his humanity. The weight of every decision is felt deeply, whether it’s sparing the life of an enemy or deciding who deserves to live in a world so ravaged by suffering. One of the standout moments is Artyom's encounter with the mysterious and tragic Anna, whose bond with him adds layers of emotional depth to the narrative, and the heartbreaking moments of loss and survival echo throughout the game, making every encounter feel like it has lasting consequences.
What makes Last Light even more profound is its ability to make you question the meaning of light itself—both literally and metaphorically. The game delves into the darkness of humanity’s soul, contrasting the fleeting moments of light with the overarching despair that consumes the metro. The tragic beauty of the world and its inhabitants is captured in every scene, from the oppressed inhabitants of the metro stations to the twisted, mutated creatures that lurk in the shadows. These details make the world feel alive, yet also fragile—just like the characters Artyom encounters on his journey.
The gameplay in Last Light Redux builds on the foundation of its predecessor, adding more fluid mechanics and options that make the experience feel even more dynamic. The combat is intense, but you are never forced into violence unless absolutely necessary, maintaining the same moral complexity of Metro 2033. The moral choices are once again at the heart of the game, where Artyom’s decisions shape the outcome of the story. The game once again offers multiple endings, with your choices determining whether you walk the path of light or surrender to the darkness. The balance between exploration, stealth, and combat gives you a sense of control over how you experience the world, making every encounter unique. You’ll find yourself pondering whether to risk it all for the greater good or abandon your ideals to ensure your own survival, a choice that can lead you to either a hopeful or tragic end.
Visually, Metro 2033 Last Light Redux is a stunning masterpiece that builds on the incredible work of the first game. The environments are more detailed and expansive, with breathtaking vistas of a world destroyed by war, but still clinging to life in the form of mutated wildlife and struggling humans. The lighting in the game is particularly notable, with every shadow and flicker of light accentuating the emotional gravity of each scene. The atmosphere is thick with tension, from the eerie silence of the metro tunnels to the unsettling sound of distant footsteps in abandoned stations. The ambient sound design, combined with the intense score, draws you further into this ravaged world. You feel every moment of dread, every pulse of danger, as if you yourself are Artyom, walking in his shoes, never quite sure of what lies ahead. The immersive world pulls you in completely, leaving a mark on your soul that lingers long after you've completed the journey.
P.S. Like its predecessor, Metro 2033 Last Light Redux takes significant liberties with the source material. While it draws from Dmitry Glukhovsky’s books, it offers a different take on the events and characters, allowing for a more cinematic experience that expands the world and its lore. Fans of the books will notice the deviations, but the game still manages to capture the essence of the Metro universe, offering a compelling and unique interpretation of the story.
Honestly the laser focus on the morality system and the heavy push to do stealth vs the first game doesn't jive with me very much despite the hours I put into the game. It's well polished, don't get me wrong there but I had a stronger connection and more fun with the first entry in the Metro series. I wouldn't buy this standalone but there's a lot of love here with the gun play and more fleshed out stories.
Metro: Last Light Redux is a frustrating mess. The combat is clunky, the AI is either brainless or unfair, and the story is predictable and cliché. Voice acting feels lifeless, and the mechanics, like flashlight and gas mask, are more annoying than immersive. It looks decent, but that’s about it. definitely not worth the time.
i got soft locked very far into the game and can't be fucked to do it all again.
also filters are still in the game and it is basically the same as the first one, so i have the rights to leave a negative review
if i end up beating it, i'll probably change it to positive
4/10
TL:DR don't buy unless 95% off
This redux not having borderless window options forced me to find third party solution and made it super annoying. The morality system is jank and badly done. The half baked stealth mechanics broke my heart because I wanted a little more depth and some slight forgiveness. Like when you have to kill two dudes at the same time I could knife one and shoot the other, but it so super inconsistent. I wish I could drag bodies away. The story is barely a step up from the cringe bs about peace and forgiveness and there's so many times where it talks at the player about morality and high roads so hard that it takes me out. I love grim dark settings because of how humanity's best features can shine through and their worst depravities become normal and metro last light as well as 2033 didn't strike that balance at all. The endings were pretty good, but the journey getting there was marred by confusing signaling to the player about the places where we did have agency as well as the consequences of being merciful. The biggest emotional crit metro last light gave me was Pavel's scene, but it missed his perspective, about us, our relationship and what he did to his friend.
An amazing improvement from Metro 2033. To start, the story was great, following directly after the ending of the first game. There were some returning characters that felt pretty natural to enjoy given their previous inclusion, and their personalities were not changed at all, something that seems to happen in a lot of franchises of any kind. This was nice, it made things feel like the whole narrative was thought out from the start, or at least that the writers who adapted the book were sticking true to what they read. In specific appreciation, Pavel was by far the best character in this game. I really enjoyed, for the brief time that we got to know him as our friend, his personality. Everything about him set me at ease. When I thought he would betray us he didn't, only to end up sticking the knife in my back when I least expected it. Truly a well written individual, who I actually ended up saving later on because I liked him so much despite his betraying me. I only really had one gripe with the writing and that was with the female characters, especially Anna. Anna was incredibly annoying. I have no idea why she was the love interest because she was so rude, and somewhat useless in the fights. The romance that followed felt unnatural because the build up to it was so minimal. If a more mature scene is going to be tasteful, I think it needs to actually have reason for the characters to be together. It just made no sense to me that Artyom would have a child with her when through the entire game he not only describes her as annoying but she also sits there and berates him. It really kind of felt like inserted sex appeal in a game that already had no other prominent female characters, which was was too bad. Even the brothel workers felt like better love interests than Anna. Game-play wise, there were some annoyances that were maintained from the last iteration. It was a lot of following around slow NPCs and getting rushed by hoards of monsters. However, there was the option in this game to take stealth routes which I thought was a nice variance in the actual process, just to shake things up from the normal "shoot everything and don't get hit" approach. Some minor bugs, NPCs that stop when they are supposed to go, the only remedy a chapter restart. Not too much of an issue, but it was noticeable. On top of that, sometimes the allies on your side would walk in front of you while you were shooting, which was a nuisance to deal with during critical moments. Animation and graphics also took an amazing upturn in quality. There were times I wanted to screenshot the scenery it looked so nice. Further, last game, there were some comedic animations with the mouths moving and not syncing with dialogue, but this installment seemed to fix that too. The only noticeable issue that persisted that I wanted to speak on was the audio mixing. I felt here it actually got worse, where characters who were right next to you would sound far away, and the title sequences for each chapter were so much quieter than the noises and voice lines in game. A little immersion breaking, and it was sad to see how bad it got by comparison to its predecessor. Overall however, a great game with some easy to look over flaws.
Here are some pros and cons of this game for me
+ I think it has successful storytelling and enough action/survival/stealth sections
+ It has a more successful environmental design and voice acting compared to Metro 2033
- I think there are some problems with artificial intelligence
Great game. Would highly recommend the Metro series but definitely play them in order
Timeless classics!
The story is very interesting and rich. I like that underground locations are intertwined with vast surface places. Seeing the destroyed Kremlin is priceless, not to mention being able to wander through Lenin mausoleum, famous metro stations and Moscow river bridges.
The characters of Das Reich, Commies and bandits are very well written and complement each other.
10/10
Amazing game that is a true sequel to the legendary 2033 original. Highly recommend if you want more 2033 in your life
A really good game. If you want to play Metro Exodus, I strongly suggest you to play this first and the first game Metro 2033.

Personal Note
I recently picked up the Metro franchise bundle during a major sale, with little knowledge about the series. Unlike the first game, I had some expectations going into this sequel, especially after the high praise it received from friends. Having been thoroughly immersed in the world of the Metro, I couldn’t wait to dive back into Artyom’s shoes. And I was not disappointed.
While Metro: Last Light builds upon the foundation laid in its predecessor, it refines the setting, introduces more impactful mechanics, and expands on the story. I found myself just as captivated by the atmosphere, the tense combat, and the intriguing characters—this game is a great evolution of the Metro universe.

Story & Setting
Metro: Last Light takes place a year after the events of Metro 2033, following Artyom as he navigates the aftermath of his actions in the first game. The tension between the factions in the Metro system is escalating, and the surface, though still radioactive, presents new dangers. The game explores themes of survival, sacrifice, and the morality of war, all while Artyom wrestles with the weight of his past decisions.
The narrative feels more direct and refined compared to the first game. Last Light introduces new characters and factions, each with their own agenda, which deepens the intrigue of the world. The storytelling is still a mix of subtlety and direct exposition—overheard conversations, environmental storytelling, and narrative moments all help build a rich world filled with moral complexity. While it stays true to the tone and setting of Metro 2033, Artyom has a greater purpose in this game, as he is no longer saving his home, but all of Moscow's underground.

Gameplay & Mechanics
Metro: Last Light improves on the formula of Metro 2033, offering smoother mechanics while keeping the core survival elements intact. The game is still linear, but it introduces larger areas and more variety in environments, making the journey feel more expansive. The gameplay retains a balance between stealth and combat, giving players the freedom to approach situations however they see fit. The game has no multiplayer.
- Combat and Stealth: You’re once again presented with the choice of how to approach encounters—whether through stealth, conserving precious ammo, or opting for a more aggressive, gun-blazing approach. The mechanics feel tighter in Last Light, with smoother controls and more varied weapons. However, many of the weapons are still cobbled together from scraps, maintaining the same gritty, makeshift aesthetic. The enemy AI has also improved, but there are still moments where enemies seem oblivious to your presence.
- Survival Mechanics: Resource management remains a key element of Last Light, with even more emphasis placed on exploration. You’ll need to gather supplies such as gas masks, filters, ammo, and health packs. Like its predecessor, the game challenges you to make careful choices about when to fight and when to conserve resources. While vendors are available, the true value lies in scavenging—finding valuable items in lockers, stashes, and from fallen enemies. These survival mechanics feel more refined but still manage to retain that sense of danger and urgency.
- Exploration: While still mostly linear, Metro: Last Light gives you a bit more freedom to explore your environment. Hidden collectibles, secret areas, and weapon upgrades are scattered throughout the world, rewarding those who take the time to search. Each level is carefully designed, with intricate details that make each area feel unique, and the game encourages exploration even as you move through tightly controlled environments.
[*]Decision-Making: While not as extensive as Metro 2033, Last Light still offers some moral choices that influence how events unfold. Though these decisions don’t dramatically change the plot, they do impact your relationships with key characters and offer a sense of control over Artyom’s fate. The ending, in particular, is deeply tied to your actions, giving the game a similar personal touch as the first installment.

Graphics & Audio
I have only played the Redux version but have watched gameplay of the original. The graphics show some improvement compared to Metro 2033, but nothing mind-blowing. We have to keep in mind that, just like the previous installment, this game isn’t the newest release. That said, the environments are more varied, and the atmosphere in certain sections is more enhanced than in Metro 2033.
The audio design continues to impress. The ambient sounds of dripping water, distant screams, and the hum of electricity amplify the tense atmosphere. The soundtrack complements the action and builds tension beautifully. The voice acting is stronger than in Metro 2033, and Artyom’s character feels more developed, with more expressive dialogue despite his silent protagonist role.

Achievements
The achievements in Metro: Last Light are well-integrated into the gameplay. Most are earned through natural progression, whether it’s exploring every corner of the Metro or taking down enemies with specific weapons (quick saves are a life saver for some of these!). However, for the dedicated achievement hunter, completing playthroughs on different difficulty levels or unlocking alternate endings can take some time. The achievement list is satisfying and rewarding for those who enjoy a bit of extra challenge. This game offers DLC achievements that are not part of the main story.

Extra Content
Metro: Last Light comes with DLC levels that provide additional missions, allowing players to experience certain scenarios from the perspective of different characters. These missions give a fresh take on some of the game’s main events, offering a unique perspective on how these moments played out for other characters in the story. It’s a fun addition that adds depth and context, enriching the overall experience and providing a bit more insight into the Metro world. The DLC was included with the base game and did not cost any additional money.

Closing Thoughts
Metro: Last Light is a fantastic sequel that builds upon the foundations of Metro 2033, improving on the gameplay while expanding the story. The game’s attention to detail, atmospheric world-building, and improved mechanics make it a memorable experience. It addresses several potential issues from the first game, offering a more refined and polished experience. I moved straight into Last Light after finishing Metro 2033, and I found myself just as hooked. Definitely worth playing!
Poor continuation of a great game.
Game chooses bad ending from first part to continue with this not very interesting story.
Besides story wise, game mechanics are crap, on swamps you need to hurry because of air filters, but it's not obvious where to go, and you are attacked.
Waste of time in my opinion.
the game was great with your moral choices having a great impact on the outcome in the final mission. Had fun playing this game as it has a lot of weapons and a lot of attachments to play with. the missions are not at all boring and there are a lot of missions with surface contact.
The story was amazing, having twist and turn in the story showing you not all what is seems and you can learn more about it if you look around and listen to the npc and the stealth in this was up a notch compared to the last game you can really feel the tension. Great Game.
The horrors of the Metro games do not lie in the tunnels, where the Nosalises and Spiderbugs rule. Neither is it found in the people who menace the system, or the damp claustrophobia of a corpse-filled sewer. The real horror is when you step outside. Your Geiger Counter goes off and your health drops. A Demon flies overhead, and you desperately suck in the last of your filtered air. You scramble for the safety of the dark tunnels, only to find yourself in a barren nuclear wasteland. The shadows of its inhabitants dance as your dimming lantern guides you through a rotten vision of our future.
Fantastic game. Took me several attempts to get into the Metro series, but once I did the atmosphere sucked me right in. Fantastic games
Very enjoyable game. Metro 2023 felt a bit grittier, but I prefer this game in most areas, especially the story.
Also, good tip for rationing air filters:
When low on air filters, keep your gas mask off until you start gasping and your vision goes blurry, then put it back on and take it off again. This strategy helped me out of getting softlocked on one of the surface chapters
It's a pretty good game with very nice visuals and atmospheric audio. Best played with headphones.
There's still some leftover jank from the previous iteration that annoyed me slightly, but overall it wasn't a bad experience. The insane combat DLC was a huge turn off, but the story driven ones are actually half decent.
The game is very good, the best of all the metro games. It is difficult, it must be admitted, the graphics are good (if you have a good or average PC), there are no bugs (at least I did not notice), the story itself is good as usual. I will say this much: 10/10. I will also say which metro games are the best: 1. Metro Last Light, 2. Metro exodus, 3. Metro 2033
An absolute wonderful follow up sequel to the first one, Metro: Last Light yet again immerses us into a hauntingly beautiful post apocalyptic Russia for yet another grand adventure. The sequel improves upon the first with its deeper story telling filled with emotional and mind-blowing twists and turns.
What is interesting in the Metro series, is the consistency of gameplay and context. In this opus, you basically have a shooter wrapped in a strong personal and collective story, that begins after the end of Metro 2033. So you kinda deal with the consequences of your past actions. I really appreciated the quality of character development (the main characters keep coming back and have more depth regarding their choices and motivation). The game truly shines in depicting the necessity of social organization in an urban post-apocalyptic world as you visit the diverse mini-societies and experience their model based on their beliefs or trade, as people are tight together for a permanent struggle for resources.
Metro Last Light is more of an "experience" game rather than a viscerally fun game.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gameplay. Recommended!

Incredible Game. Great Story, Environment, And World Building
Ranger hardcore perspective. Story is ok. Human fights too easy, stealth is boring and silly, monster fights are mostly annoying. Dialog scenes are way longer than 2033. Level exploration is only for scrappy loot to get enough bullets/filters/grenades for monster fights, since human fights can be avoided or killed with AK one shots. There were few interesting levels and fights, but other than that it is slow and draining, not fun.
Last Light is a sequel to 2033 and builds on the original story. Many of the mechanics in the game are improved compared to the first part but largely it stays very similar although less stealthy. Compared to Exodus it is still very linear and lacks crafting. Enemy movement especially monsters is much improved. Story is more intense as well.
Pros:
- Story even better than Metro 2033
- Level design and atmosphere (Red Square, metro stations)
- Sound design
- Enemy movement and gunplay improved from Metro 2033
Cons:
- No crafting
- Finished the game in about 8 hours
8/10
Out of all of the Metro games, Last Light is my personal favorite. I cannot recommend this game enough. After 100% completion of the game I still find new things every time I play. It's a work of art. The story, gameplay, and atmosphere, truly immerse you in a way that very few games can. 100/10
Metro Last Light is in my opinion even better than Metro 2033.
This post-apocalyptic atmospheric shooter continues the story right after 2033, but this time focuses more on the human threats than monsters.
The game has the same skeleton and is basically the same as 2033 but improves on many aspects, providing quality of life.
Redux version is the way to go, game crashed only once, no soft-locks or eurojank.
The game explores new areas and fleshes out the world we got to know in 2033.
Nazis, communists and mutant monsters, all out to get us. 2033 was a linear mad dash, Last Light is a bloodbath.
Everything is more coherent, we get to immerse ourselves more than in the previous game (maybe because of Spartan mode?)
I played Metro 2033 on the intended Ranger mode Survival difficulty, it was annoying but immersive and fun. So this time I wanted some action and played Spartan mode instead.
Played once again with original Russian language and English subtitles. It is a much better experience.
Regarding the Additional Missions:
The 3 DLC story missions (Pavel, Khan and Anna) were pretty nice. "Pavel" was the longest and most challenging of them. "Khan" backstory was more horror focused. "Anna" mission was very SHORT and replayed the intro segment from her perspective.
"Heavy Squad" was a re-do of the last stand campaign segment but playing as the Nazi Reich? Recycling ain't bad but playing as a fascist was not appreciated :(
"Sniper Team" was focused on pure stealth but had a problem with soft-locking autosaves.
"Spider Lair" was a disgusting horror mission, loved it! :D
"Kshatriya" is the longest Metro mission ever, offering a roguelike stalker experience.
"Tower Pack" is a tough combat challenge for masochists.
"Developer Pack" is just the editor (always nice to have).
Overall very enjoyable game, better than the first one.
Aged well. Don't sleep on it.
Nice job Ukraine!
“Metro: Last Light Redux”excels in delivering a deeply immersive post-apocalyptic experience. Its gripping narrative, set in the hauntingly atmospheric Moscow Metro, masterfully explores themes of humanity and survival. The Redux version significantly enhances visuals with high-definition textures and dynamic lighting, creating stunning environments both in the claustrophobic tunnels and the desolate surface. Gameplay offers a balanced mix of combat and stealth, allowing players to tailor their approach while managing scarce resources like ammunition, which also serves as currency. Performance optimizations in Redux ensure smoother gameplay, faster load times, and modernized controls, making the experience more accessible and polished than ever.
Cant run it after few hours game, it crash then when i try to load it says previous unsuccesful launch while metro 2033 run smoothly
One of my favorite series, I highly recommend it. Its one of the only games for me that actually makes a scary wasteland. I think the story couldve been more fleshed out towards the end but overall the game is still worth it.
Was writing a whole thing up for this but you know what. Boring story. boring characters. Bullshit telepathic russians who can tell if you threw a knife into a wall from 100 ft away and all go on high alert. Shitty animal monster behavior. can't make up it's mind if this is a tense survival horror that's grounded and harsh or a goofy fucking fallout deal. plot armor. bugs, You WILL load the wrong ammo whenever you don't need it, and will shoot your in universe money because Artyom thinks you held the R key just a little too long, despite having to beat the fucker in because sometimes while fighting he just doesn't feel like listening to your inputs. Many crashes. Corrupted saves. This IS slavic jank, only unlike stalker it's a void of charm.
The final draw for me was having reloaded like 8 times trying to get through a burning level. despite the entire level being on fire and loud crackling happening, shit collapsing, if my fucking bolt gun missed by a cunt hair the whole level would zero in on me. Stealth is bullshit. it can go fuck itself. Get to the door finally and it's a cut scene again, only now they turned on my night vision for the cut scene. I turn it off. Cut scene seems normal. night vision returns. Wake up in friendly base with sniper bitch. she's getting her tits out telling me to fuck her and NIGHT VISION IS STILL ON. actually fuck this game.
Just like the 1st game, this installment got me thoroughly hooked from the very start. The narrative is great, featuring compelling characters with significant depth, and the environmental storytelling and immersive world-building truly stand out. Themes and symbolism are woven seamlessly throughout the experience, creating emotionally resonant moments that linger long after playing. The lighting and atmosphere set the mood perfectly, enhancing the overall experience. There is a wonderful balance between lighthearted and heavy moments that keeps you engaged. I highly recommend that you play this captivating series; it’s an unforgettable journey!
Absolutely ASTONISHING story game for a remix of FPS and Survival Horror. I’d say it’s a must to play and it is worth snatching the Metro Saga bundle on sale!
one of the GREATEST story driven fps's out there. the graphics, sound, and gameplay are a 11/10
Having just read the second book, I actually think Last Light is... better? I really wanted to like the book, but I think I just prefer everything this game does with the narrative. Like OF COURSE Artyom deserves recognition for his efforts! 10/10 IGN

Fantastic game. Took me several attempts to get into the Metro series, but once I did the atmosphere sucked me right in. Fantastic games
absolute must-play game; awesome mechanics, great story and very good graphics
So the second game of the series is pretty much the same emotional rollercoaster as the first and last one. Your choices matter in all of the games, so choose wisely! Amaizing game, amaizing graphics, amaizing story.
It has infected animals, ghosts , people killing each other, garbage and gore all around the place, and you can't walk outside without using a mask.
So basically Modern Time New Delhi.
9 / 10.
Geometry sometimes ruins the essence of its very good stealth gameplay.
Its really good upgrade from 2033 everything outside world is still deadly and tunnels are interesting. Story is very good and made gameplay little less linear
such a masterpiece bought the metro bundle recently and finished its 1stand2nd part and now i`ll move to exodus which is its 3rd part ngl so underrated game (worth every penny just go for it)
Great narrative, compelling characters with depth, environmental storytelling and immersion, themes and symbolism, emotionally resonant moments, lightning and atmosphere set the mood perfectly. Great balance between light and heavy moments.
Fell in love with all those aspects <3
If I compare the sequel, it's definitely one step forward. Almost all aspects of the game have improved slightly or at least remained at the same level. If I describe this game very briefly, it is a "Safe Sequel". If you liked Metro 2033, then you will like Last Light.
Improves from Metro 2033 with a great story and fun gameplay. Good length as well and would highly recommend anyone to play this.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
story is short, gameplay is fun and tough but the whole "moral points" is bull shit, killing evil people gives you the bad endings, otherwise the game is good
i played the non redux variant of this game a lot, absolutely worth it, super atmospheric story game
Ultimately, the sequel doesn't do much to differentiate its gameplay from that of Metro: 2033's, and I can't genuinely say there's *much* to be gained from playing both to completion as opposed to googling a synopsis of the other - if not both should you prefer skipping to Exodus entirely - though exactly how much the streamlined nature of the 'Redux' versions of the two games as compared to their respective original releases contributes to this I can't say, as someone who has only gone through these remasters.
Purportedly though, from other reviews I've seen and different posts under the Discussions tab of the community hub, the Redux of 2033 nudged the initial entry away from its Survival-Horror focus and further into its Shooter components, in lieu of Last Light. While I said there is little meaningful differentiation between the gameplay of the two, you can feel that Last Light was definitely intended to be a FPS foremost, and had less of its clunkier edges smoothed-over in the wake of the remake of the Redux version. Another review described it as a 'Spectacle Shooter', and the term stuck with me more and more after having played through multiple on-rails sections, with very meager opportunities for stealth or exploration as compared to the first game, and in general less overall meaningful reward for it, with so many of the Diary entry collectibles along the beaten path.
While I can definitely recommend Last Light as a decent FPS in a more-unique setting than a lot of CoD-esc counterparts, and remark that it has a very *passable* story, I remain disappointed on how dissonant it wound up being from the suggestion of resource-management in Metro: 2033, with an abundance of ammunition, currency, and healing able to be collected even on the hardest difficulty, even after draining everything that I could carry having entered a boss encounter.
Trying to preserve my ammunition by using different guns which required different types, and rationing the supply further by focusing either on stealth-takedowns or headshots, when not circumventing enemies entirely, in the rare instances I was not forced into fights by narrative, didn't feel rewarding when I was constantly stumbling across even more ammo that I was already at full capacity for, and I had no justification to pick up a weapon I stumbled onto mid-level as opposed to continue using what I had.
At the very least however, Last Light is just a more-polished version of 2033, which I *did* enjoy, despite the flaws I found that felt pronounced in this sequel and its divergence from the initial dismal tone and (marginally) slower gameplay of the first. There isn't much more to criticize beyond my personal genre and difficulty preferences in that regard - what it does decide to do, it does well, and seamlessly, without any bugs whatsoever, or performance loss, unlike a lot of contemporaries in the same genre.
Great game, great story-line. Has its scary moments. Totally recommend just like the previous one.
