I have waited a total of two sessions (4 minutes for the first and 8 minutes for the second) for this game to load but it is just stuck on "Authorization". I verified game files as well. I am not waiting anymore. Make a playable game next time. Refunded.
IN SHORT:
Pros: Art style
Cons: Everything else
However if you want to know detailed review then here it is.
First things first, 50 % of game launch (loading screen) it just fokin crashing before even launched successfully. Little did i know that Bravium is actually horrible mobile port. It's not even adjusted for pc players at all the GUI is HUGE and confusing.
At the beginning i chose to play on Hard difficulty because most of time these type of games do not have difficulty settings and they tend to become harder as you get through levels, anyway, had to learn a bit how to play because it was very confusing to understand what is what and how it works. When i got hang on it slowly got through about 15 levels in first zone (yeah there are 3 zones total, 80 levels max excluding side levels that is). I felt difficulty but nevertheless it didnt stopped me to keep playing, so i had to do bit of grinding to upgrade equipment and to buy chests (yes there are chests in this game however certain chests will unlock as you progress into game) BUT the pricing for those chests are mind blowing to say the least first chest that contains small potions (6 of them i think) it is priced 250 cabbages - yeah that is the currency in this game not the gold no, but vegetables, next tier chest that contains 8 potions costs 1k cabbages, are you for real? from 250 to 1k? That is HUGE difference and keep in mind that potions are random you wont get potion you actually need. Yeah, sure you can craft potions BUT in order to craft something you have to salvage current unnecessary potions and top of that salvaging cost cabbages too. kekw.
Alright, so after i completed first Forest zone (40 levels) and step into 41th level it got from mediocre difficulty to IMPOSSIBLE difficulty because Each enemy that was in previous level dealt around 92 dmg to your character, now they deal 192 dmg to your character, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING? Basically, you get killed within 2 seconds.
BUY UPGRADES YOU HUR DUR NOB CAKE.
Yeah, funny about upgrades, not all upgrades are available in the beginning of game a lot of them are locked for some darn reason and only will be unlocked when you reach end game. So whats the point of that ? There are plenty of traits EXCEPT the one that actually is NEEDED by 110% is attack speed upgrade, however this one does not exist in Bravium. KEKW because for some unknown reason your character will attack slow as molasses it does not matter what type of weapon you are going to use attack speed is the same if not slower than actual attack speed.
By the way its possible to max out some upgrades but the freaking max number is what? The number is 9, yep who on earth thought that lets put this random number such as 9 for max upgrades.
Vague or lack of spell, consumable information. Does not even explain how long your spells recharge you just have to guess or gamble, should you use them now or wait.
Enemies are basically the same only thing that is different they change colors, except each zone will add additional new enemy.
There are some enemies that have physical resistance, but vulnerable to magic, however if these enemies cast spell on themselves or their allies then player deals 50% less magical damage, imagine this if you play warrior with no magic whatsoever, how do you complete this level? JUST HORRIBLE DESIGN.
Regardless of which difficulty are playing the bosses will kill you instantly does not matter if you got all the upgrades in the world, how imbalanced is that?
too hard to play for me, gave it up shortly after my first attempt to win
So Much Fun!
Bravium feels like (and is) a mobile game, but I'd actually say go ahead and give it a run regardless. If you were a fan of the old Kongregate 'Epic War' style games, then this has a nice nostalgic feel to it. The gameplay isn't terribly deep, but there are some constant meaningful decision points, and challenge levels that encourage you to try out a wider variety of options than you would by default. The level design seems simplistic, but does promote some different strategies and will likely make you change up your approach occasionally even when you think you've settled into a winning combo.
Numerically this is probably a 6 out of 10. It's fine for a bit of light weight fun, and you won't regret the time you spend doing it, but is unlikely to hook you long-term. If you like this style of game, then pick it up in a sale sometime and it is worth it.
fix the freaking authorization.. every time i try to play it i need to restart whole steam coz it gets stuck on authorization
I got 22 hours out of this game for a decent price, so you'll still get my thumbs up. If you're reading, buy on sale. $6 would be more appropriate.
Finish the damn game. I sat around in the last map wondering how to unlock the the last couple of upgrades until I finally looked it up and saw a response to another user from January 2018 saying you never finished the last map or credits. Also, what was with the ridiculous difficulty spike when you added the poison maps. I three starred every map until that point and couldn't be bothered to come back and play them multiple times suddenly when the pacing had been so enjoyable.
Otherwise, fun game, great aesthetic, good pacing. Somewhat lacking in depth of story to the point I'm fairly certain you were making this a phone game at some point.
There is a barrier at lvl 20 where the game suddenly becomes super difficult and you are forced to farm the previous levels. It would be all well and good except you can tell that it had mechanics of a mobile game where it would have motivated you to pay up to level up.
Again, things would have been fine if the way to level up wasn't as frustrating as well. It's like you were at normal mode then a sudden spike in difficulty to nightmare mode happens... at the end of the lvl leaving you to get one-shotted and having to do everything all over again.
Instead of being challenging, it was frustrating. And for me, I would rather play other tower defence games.
But, I did enjoy the first 4 hours so I'll give it that. It's not completely unplayable, so perhaps it's for you. It's just ultimately not for me anymore, hence the thumbs down.
Love the art style and maybe an update can fix this 1 fatal flaw. Cheers!
It's not so bad.
Bought this game on discount.
A simple concept and mechanic, got pretty similar vibe with darkest dungeon.
Quite challenging to get all 3 stars in normal difficulty.
However, it kind of repetitive in nature, so might get a little bit boring after 5 hours of game time. Still recommended to buy it during the sale
fun game but always online DRM sucks
Really love this game and it has many many maps to get through,
and also a huge amount of replayability
Pros:
*Many weapons/weapon classes to unlock and upgrade
*Many Items/artifacts/spells to unlock and upgrade
*Achievements has been made as missions in game
= clear a mission to unlock a new weapon or something else.
So that is a really nice thing to see since not many games think them through like this!
Cons:
Can get a bit boring after some time since it is very grindy if you want to get everything maxed out. Also you will replay many of the same levels again on a harder challenge version
"both good n bad since it adds many more hours :P
(if you can look at this game as a clicker/tower defense game)
then you will find a lot of good time playing it even tho it's a rpg/strategy game ;)
Note: can be played with only a mouse or controller & the controls are very simple!
It's all about timing weapon choice n strategy = a perfect game for handicapped people as well.
Almost feel like a robbed the dev since i got it on sale, so 100% worth a buy i say :)
A nice tower-defense-brawler, it's a little grindy/repetitive but the gameplay is enjoyable enough for when you want to play a short session.
+ Addictive Gameplay and lots of things to unlock and level up.
- It got repetitive and boring after almost 10 hours for me
Anyways I'll recommend it
This game plays well. It is a very polished product and Bravium has a very good art style also. Really enjoyable and entertaiment game. Well done.
excellent game!
Really hard resource management
Lovve it
Likes:
+ Enormous amounts of gear to unlock (weapons, shields, axes, trinkets, potions, scrolls... it goes on!), all of which can be enhanced via card drops earned from gameplay
+ Simple gameplay loop makes this game easy to jump in and play a few rounds during a break
+ Hero-defense (like a moving tower) gameplay requiring active resource management, positioning, and encourages experimenting with different loadouts
+ At the time of this review I'm just over half way done the campaign and I've clocked nearly 15hrs
+ Two characters to choose from, each with their own set of skills/spells, helps provide some variety
+ No F2P microtransactions, all of which have been removed and re-balanced for the PC release
+ Decent variety of enemy types, towers, and bosses
+ Steady stream of unlockables, you're always earning something!
+ Light RPG mechanics like a upgradeable talents, spells, and skills.
+ Comic book style artwork
+ Animations are fluid
Dislikes:
- UI is very "mobile" and lacks some PC-specific features, like hovering over items to see stats (on mobile you have to tap them)
- The gameplay loop can become very repetitive for some players
- Requires an online connection... for some reason.
Overall, it's a fun game for what it sets out to be. If you're a fan of tower/hero defense games, then it may be worth giving Bravium a shot.
If you're interested in seeing more gameplay, I've started a Let's Play series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwIDRHkaAZ21wtLj7Ux-CWkgU2DhZoc7t
Game is ok. Studdered off and on every 5 minutes or so and even locked up a couple of times and I had to wait for it to respond. Gameplay is fine, but somewhat stagnant and boring. Also has some translation issues and the option menu is only available at certain points such as in a map. It can't be accessed within the level selection/main menu.
