ARE YOU A BAD ENOUGH DUDE TO PACIFY THE MOURNFUL DEAD WITH A SPACE FUNERAL?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?
join recently defrosted witch fei and saddest of sacks scavenger john as they build and scavenge parts respectively for a rocket with which to send a whole town's worth of impatient souls to space!!! she is feeling the pressure!!! he is quite literally haunted!!! as the sole survivors of a terrible domino chain of disasters that killed everyone else in at least the two day radius in which they can travel, they are going to have to band together despite their issues (individual, and with each other) if they want to survive the elements of their failing colony to get the job done!!!!!
rocket of whispers takes the "seek and find" concept of the day we found earth in a very different direction, as you're physically exploring various areas by foot to pick up resources (as well as lore clues as to the history of the environment and characters). however it very much still shares day we found earth's soul as a character and relationship study where a pair of very different individuals must cooperate to accomplish a goal, as well as its deep love of space.
rocket of whispers is a very Sad story due to its post apocalyptic setting and focus on mourning, but it has an immense amount of tenderness and compassion for human life and the human condition as well and so winds up being highly life-affirming as well.
the main campaign takes a few hours to play through, after which you are able to continue playing if you'd like to unlock any stray achievements or repair all the lore artifacts (fair warning: the latter may easily double your playtime as you poke your nose into Every Corner of Every Map to find the requisite soul stones. there is no chievo for this. it is a task for hingeless lore hounds Only). it is highly worth the cost of admission imo, as sigono continues to nail their aim of bringing players a singular experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

A significant enough step up from the previous game, The Day We Found Earth. This time both the gameplay and the story are a little more grounded (get it?), mostly consisting of trudging through the snow as the grumpy older man protagonist John in search of materials and mementos from the times before a certain apocalyptic event or during its aftermath. All in hopes of helping the plucky younger woman deuteragonist Fei conduct a ritual to send the souls of the departed off. Both of them also deal with their respective personal grief and trauma in the process. The story and the overall atmosphere are about as bleak and dreary as the game looks, and the gameplay is too repetitive for its own good. But the music was beautiful, the ending was quite touching, and learning about the lives of the people and their struggles through the things they left behind was interesting enough to keep me going for the game's rather short runtime.
Great music and a nice story but, for me at least, the game play wasn't great. Most of the game felt like fetch quest after fetch quest to get materials or help out ghosts. I'm also not a big fan of the art style but that is 100% my opinion and shouldn't have any impact on if you get the game or not. The ending was great and emotional, and I'm glad that it doesn't take too long to get there. A good game overall but in my opinion the constant searching for supplies was long and got pretty boring near the end. I feel like $16 is too much for this game but if you can get this game on sale than the music and story are definitely worth it!
Thoroughly enjoy the story of this game. It had a simple game play mechanism and puzzles are not too hard to solve but I played the game for the story so that was fine with me. The phenomenal background music really enhance the experience of the overall storytelling aspect and art is pleasing enough. Overall, fun experience and a definite give it a try at least once game.
A journey unlike any other. Play this game.
They did it again... Finding games with story telling as great as the OPUS games is hard.
"Thank the cosmos for bringing us together."
Absolutely beautiful story with a really creative narrative I very much enjoyed. The gameplay was repetitive and frankly, a little boring, but the sound design, music, and worldbuilding kept me sucked in and interested--so I was never bored! I'll remember Fei and John for a long time, and I'll definitely check out the other OPUS games and keep SIGONO on my radar!
It is definitely more of a comic book than a game. Furthermore, it has the typical Chinese game design where it tells you what to do at every single step (a big flashing finger tells you where to click). There is no freedom for the player, which I guess I understand why now that I type this out.
May you reach the stars, and shine upon us.
To the cosmos.
