one of my siblings introduced this game to me in 2019 and i have so many fond memories of playing it with them. sal's character design is 10/10 best i've ever seen.

i cant believe i never reviewed this but its one of the best games i ever played- if youre looking for a game that has a cool as hell story, interesting characters and allthat- i can only recommend it!! :D

Its a very good story, figure it out horror indie type game, the story is awesome, the horror is top-notch and the fighting parts are just awesome

Very interesting game. Puzzles are fun, story is engaging, and the antics are indeed mischievous. I was expecting the story to go one way, and it could not have surprised me any more. A little bit goofy, sometimes pretty raw and dark, it's a fun mixed bag and if you like Stranger Things you will definitely enjoy this one.

This is a dark but captivating game! I enjoyed the disturbing story and the complex characters, so much so that the other aspects of the game (the puzzles) were my main gripe... It was a bit frustrating because I wanted to move the story forward and get to the wonderful dialogue and cut-scenes, but I got stuck or took too long to complete the tedious stuff. So I had to use a guide for the majority of the puzzles because I didn't write down codes, screenshot clues, or remember the placement of certain things. Some of these puzzles were "how am I even supposed to know this?" level of difficulty. The story was worth it, though. It's not for everyone so I wouldn't recommend it unless the sluggish puzzles and the TWs aren't an issue for you. Chapter 5 got very trippy and experimental, and the bologna chapter was my favorite. Overall a very original experience.

A decent adventure game that's too weird for its own good

I had a hunch that I might not be making the most optimal purchase decision when adding Sally Face to my Steam library because I'm easily put off by weird-looking games, but then again, I have been proven wrong in the past. Instead of following my intuition, I went with the flow and let the ocean of positive reviews drown the voice of my inner sceptic.

What is my conclusion then? To be honest, I don't know. Sally Face tells an absurd, deeply psychological story that is hard to grasp on your first playthrough, and while the visuals are certainly unique, they do not appeal to my eye. However, when I got past the main menu, I did have fun exploring this well-constructed world and enjoying the versatile gameplay mechanics most of the time; walking around, collecting clues, discovering Easter eggs, contacting the dead and talking to people. There are tedious sections, though, where you find yourself revisiting the same locations multiple times and having no clue on how to solve certain puzzles. A sense of confusion was unfortunately omnipresent, rendering it difficult for me to relate to the characters and maintain intrigue in the complex narrative - which is not at all typical of me. Moreover, Sally Face did not always recognize my controller which led to annoying relaunches.

While many aspects of the game don't make sense to me personally, it is not to say that you should give Sally Face a pass. It is something that will stick with me for a long time owing to its strangeness and originality, yet due to my own feelings of boredom, annoyance and bewilderment, I have no need to replay it anytime soon.

A must play

Although it gives me the creeps when I am playing it, I have to say that it's one of the best horror Point & Clic games that I've played in my life. Don't forget to get the Season Pass in case you want to play all the chapters and get all the achievements. You won't regreat it.

I'm generally cool with a lot of games
This felt shallow, sloppy, and boring overall.
I liked how it started with episode 1.
Episode 1 was the creepiest and eeriest of them all, and it served as a great introduction.
Episode 2 was a bit of a rut to get through, but the introduction of certain mechanics and the mini-games saved the essence.
Episode 3 was the start of a pacing issue. We got pushed into a timeskip with 2 (we've seen 1 in episode 2 but it was flaky) other main characters that were mainly tools to advance the plot. The attempt at an emotional bond between Sal and those 2 new characters were shallow at best.. however, this episode was saved through it's eerieness and new factors that drived the plot forward.
Episode 4 completely flips the script on you and it feels like we've missed A LOT to get to the point it was at. It added a completely nonsensical alien plot. We spend most of the episode just collecting things just open a freakin door. The interesting part of the story was wrapped behind multiple puzzles and could be easily skippable. When the story climaxed in this episode, it just feels like we've been barraged with so much new elements to the story. The pacing was way too fast for me to get invested. Nothing was really built up, things were just introduced and we just played along.
Episode 5 spent a lot of it's time explaning the details of what occurred in episode 4, but it lacked the feeling of closure to the story. There were stakes for characters that we barely spend time with. The emotional connection between these characters don't feel established well enough for me to care. It was literally like "oh group of friends" "okay group of friends invest this thing" 5 YEARS LATER "group of friends grown up" " group of friends get mixed up in bad stuff" "group of friends fight bad stuff" COOL! WE KNOW LITTLE TO NOTHING ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS APART FROM THE SUPPORTING CHARACTER THAT'S BEEN WITH US SINCE CHAPTER 1, and the main protagonist? he just seemed cool about it all yk, crazy stuff's happening but whatever. The only emotional turmoil we see in Sal is described briefly from other characters, and a specific moment between 2 characters, but other than that, it was entirely a loredump. The end of this episode rushed to bits. This episode peaks towards the end and ends abruptly. Wow. That's it? yep. Well.. unless you 100% the game and get an epilogue explaining the unfinished story.

Oh yeah we have a second game coming...! Sweeet............. not.
I hope we get to connect with these characters more in the next game. Actually put arcs that make us love them. Not just add a bunch of characters and expect us to care.
This review is not really written to include every detail that disappointed me, but there are some really dumb deus ex machina elements in this story.

Me, a few minutes ago: "I just beat Sally Face."
My husband, who has seen me play some of it: "How many people had to die for you to do that?"
Me: "uh..."

Highly recommend this dark coming-of-age story-driven game with ghosts, cultists , and a lot of grief. I played all expansions and will probably play it again. Characters are unique, and some are outright gross. Interesting puzzles help break up the side-scrolling levels where you unlock the mysteries of Sal's life.

In the DLCs you can progress with friends, unlock more zones, uncover cultish mysteries, and acquire bizarre weapons all while the story gets curiouser and curiouser.

Really late to writing the review of this game since I last played it a few months ago I believe, but it's so very definetly worth buying. Not only does it have a REALLY cool Plotline, you also get pretty attached to most of the characters (especially Larry...) so surely nothing bad will happen to them, right?
Anyway, there's a bit of gore here and there, but honestly what do you expect in a game where you start off as a very injured kid ?? There are also quite a few really wholesome scenes between some of the characters.
Then theres the art in the game, the artstyle totally fits the vibe of the game perfectly and with the amazing OST added to it, it's such a pleasant gaming experience!! It really is too bad people have mostly forgotten about Sally Face nowdays. 😔 Anyways, if you haven't already, BUY THE GAME !!!!

I gave me a strong mind 2000 vibe and I was hit by a nostalgia hard. I swear, it feels like we were in the same high school.

At the beginning I was disturbed by the art style and was reluctant to play. Once you start and give it like an hour it becomes a non-issue. Also, music is amazing for an indie title and it creates a certain vibe that sucks you right it.

Ignore the fact I have 18 hours logged, it took me 8 to play normally, the rest was achievement hunting time. Anyways.
Pretty good! I think all of the characters are neat, the story is fairly interesting, and honestly I'm just a sucker for a character experiencing a fractured reality that none of their friends can see. Wasn't suuuper into the ending as I, strangely enough, really dislike stories where something threatens The Whole World rather than just, like, one random town, but that's just a preference and the shift in scale didn't really change my opinion on the game overall.

Sallyh face is what i consider to be a psycological horror game, Sally has a prosthetic mask after an accident with an "dog", after that the game starts telling the story of Sal Fisher, or if you prefer, Sally face.

The game skips to different times of sal's life, when he moves out to a new apartment, when he makes new friends and even in his adulthood, Sally face discover's about ghost and also a suspect cult that may have entered police and are covering murders that happen around nockfell.
Sally and his friends go for the hunt, hunting information about the cult and the "ghosts" around the addisson apartments. The place which they live in.

This game has been my favorite since 2022. The characters, the storyline, the art, its all amazing.

its a very story driven game and so many hidden parts. it takes time so it draws people in. i like that it can relate to some teens....but can also lead some easily influenced people into the wrong place. over all, i love the game! ive loved it for years and its greatly influenced my life! i wouldnt reccomend for obvious reasons. theres lots of blood and violence. youll really love this game! but before playing i would\ watch others play it. itll make everything a lot easier. its a hard game. wouldnt reccomend for beginers.

One of my all time favorite game. Such an amazing story and interesting characters you can relate to. You get all your money worth for each episode. Truly one of the best indie games I've seen in a while!

The story is greatly done in this game, and the atmosphere is cozy. As the story it's like mythical detective with some interesting twists. Also there are fun dialogues with memorable characters. It's obviously made with love, thanks devs for it!

Fire ass game. I wish I could play it again for the first time, the characters are sick, the story is in-SANE, the graphics are decent, but the SOUNDTRACK ?? Absolutely top tier. I love all the secret details and easter eggs you can catch which really adds to the story and invests you way more. I think Travis's backstory, and honestly whole story, is super intriguing- as well as Jim Johnson's story. (-Spoiler on next line-) Finding out Larry was half non-human was freaking bonkers. This game was hella deep, I wish I had played sooner. 10/10.

This game is AMAZING, I wish I could play it for the first time again already. I love the characters, the story is AMAZING, and Sal is just an amazing guy. I find myself in Sal and I think it has to do with the fact I have felt the way he does my entire life and I never knew how to explain it till I played this game all the way through.

I loved Sal's character so much it makes me feel like I can actually express myself in a way i never thought i could, and knowing that makes me really happy. I have felt very numb my entire life and i have had the feeling of just letting myself rot in bed everyday, but now I just want to go out and find some friends and actually enjoy life with people that i know have my back, let it be from the ghost realm or the physical world. I wish i had played this sooner so i could actually do this before now, a part of me thinks its too late to actually get this but i hope I can, and its all thanks to this master piece of a game.

Thank you for making this game it has helped me out so much as of now I feel like no one could know how much it has helped, i cant put it into words but i know Sal could.

this game can be considered quite gory by others but i think its just the right amount of murder story and game play

Wherever you think this game will take you you're wrong. Play for a story that unsettling, keeps you on your toes and guessing, has an amazing soundtrack, and has the funniest one-liners.

The protagonist has also never once known fragile masculinity and its super refreshing. The portrayal of relationships (familial, friends, and other) in this game are so real and sometimes too incredibly wholesome and not something I was expecting when i first picked up the game, but it adds so much

Been watching Sally Face content since I was a kid, this is an amazing fucking game 10/10.

very addictive plot, cool mechanics and easy to play, loved the characters and the mistery solving :D

HOWEVER... Terrible saving system. Forced me to replay episodes several times to get 100% of the achievements. HUGE annoyance if you wish to 100% this game. But other than that, absolutely a must play.
