amazing game, i cried, laughed, screamed, and farted again because i laughed so hard ten out of ten cannot wait for chapter six
Great story and challenging puzzles. Love it!
For a game that's mainly just walking back and forth and entering doors, this game pleasantly surprised me. I genuinely didn't expect that plot. I also really like the characters and their development. It feels like every character does and says what you think they should, instead of being overtly stupid protags that most games do. Sal's a great MC, and I can see why he's the creator's favorite character. Also, the art style is good. I like the drab color palette. It really lets us know what we're getting ourselves into.
This is a great game with so much to explore. If your looking for a game with exiting lore that gets you hooked this is absolutly the game for you. the characters are great and have real personality. Overall I recommend this game!
Very good game not too hard and not too easy i like my larry alive though bruh
The game could be creepy to little kids, but the storyline is absolutely amazing. This has got to be the best game ive ever played.
10/10 story, amazing game all around
This game is SO GOOD! I love the storyline and the art style! I can't wait for more to come :)
I liked this game - for the most part I enjoyed my time playing it, and I'll buy the sequel when it comes out. The world, the story, and most of all the characters are all rich, interesting, and well written. It's very well done psychological horror. The art, the characters, the plot, the pacing, were all pretty much spot on, which is why I'm giving this a thumbs-up. I really loved all of these things about it.
The puzzles however are a bit of a mixed bag. Some interactable things have text labels pop up when you're in front of them....and some don't. In some cases, you use an object in your inventory automatically on something in the environment by just interacting with that thing in the environment. In other cases, you have to go to your inventory, pick the thing that you want to use, and then look at it, and finally hit some variant of "Use" (which you won't know at first, because that button isn't normally present when you look at items in your inventory). It's very inconsistent. Some of the puzzles on the critical path are good, and some of them are obtuse to the point that I still don't understand them even after consulting a walkthrough. Especially towards the later episodes, there's more repetition than I'd prefer. That's all pretty forgivable though in light of how good the rest of the game is, but...
My major complaint, and this is almost (but not quite) enough for me to change to a thumbs-down, is that major, crucial parts of the story are hidden behind optional paths and puzzles, most of which are fiendishly difficult, many of which have no obvious indication that you've failed, and some you won't even realize are puzzles at all. Some you even have to do under time pressure, like while being actively chased, at which point you may not even realize (I didn't at first) that this is something that you're supposed to solve *now*, and that you're not going to come back to later.
For example, there's a locked door with a keypad in the prologue. You can put in literally any combination at all on the keypad and it'll unlock the door, and it will give you no indication at all that if you had actually put in the *correct* combination, something extra would have happened. There's *so* many instances of this kind of thing. You will have failed (or missed entirely) a puzzle, but won't have any idea until at some time in a later episode Sal is referring to something that you've never heard of like it's familiar, at which point you might guess you missed some content somewhere.
There's parts of the game where there may be two ways to accomplish a goal, but one of them introduces you to characters and locations that are crucial to the plot, and the other (and in some cases more obvious) path skips them entirely. For instance, the first time that I got to Episode 2, one of the first things that Sal says is "I should go talk to so-and-so about this." I had absolutely no idea who this was or where I would find them, as I did not encounter them on my original playthrough of episode 1, only on going back through it with a guide.
These issues, coupled with the lack of any saving beyond a single autosave slot, leave you with a game which, as much as it takes a lot of the fun out of it and it pains me to suggest, you're better off following a walkthrough to play. The argument could be made that it'd be cheaper to just watch a playthrough on YouTube, but I really don't think that's quite the same. There's so much good about this game that I'd still recommend it, but it's a reserved recommendation at best.
Amazing game! Great aesthetic, soundtrack, and characters. I would love to see a continuation in some way, I love the characters a lot and am excited to see where the developer goes from here!
amazing soundtrack and heavy storyline!! my favourite thing about sally face is probably how the game is great for anyone to play who enjoys horror, as the mechanics are pretty straightforward and not difficult to manage / remember. really enjoyed doing the puzzles and easter eggs, plus it's nice to see the dialogue for the characters written so humanly rather than seeming like a robotic script. confidently a 10/10 ^_^ definitely enjoyed, if you liked little misfortune please make sure to play sally face sometime if you haven't already
Dang good! Vidja game is a big ole sweetness pot of intrigue, uncomfort, and yuck. I plaid the music of its heart to my gut and now I am hungry.🥳
This game is absolutely amazing! Its storyline is captivating and interesting, laced with easter eggs and mystery, the graphics are beautifully grotesque and unique, the dialogue is so funny and the characters are diverse and lovable! Moreover, this game is so fun to play! The puzzles are challenging but not too frustrating, and there's always more to discover!! This game is one of the best I've ever played.
10/10 Peak gameplay plus sanity falls goes so incredibly hard, amazing story couldnt ask for a better game 100% should play and finish
probably my favourite game of all time :)
i love this game, and everything about it
really want to see more
this game is the best game i've ever played let alone the backstory or how it was made, and the sad yet thrilling ending and cliffhangers and I am so exited to see what else they add onto this wonderful game!
I like the way the game builds up. It was pretty calm at first, and then it just got crazier and crazier. It was super fun!
Love the game because it's a good mix of creepy and captivating. Finished the game about 3 times already from how fun it is. I definitely recommend the game to play and for the lore too.
I really like SallyFace a lot. I first watched Gloom play it way back and ever since I've wanted to crank out my own gameplay for it and here I am to this day still playing SallyFace. SallyFace is an addicting game and the fandom is pretty cool
very dark but VERY COOL i love horror games where i'm not constantly getting jump scared. if you like Fran Bow or Little misfortune definitely play this game!! currently saving up to buy all the funko pop figures cuz they're cool :p
It is a very sigma game. Deffinetly recommend. Sig,ma
10/10
Story, art, characters, this game has it all. Need to do another play through :D
Oddly enough this game was the game that allowed my daughters and I to enjoy together. They truly loved the story, the characters, as well as the twists and turns of the story. Currently downloading it again to play AGAIN after a couple of years.
its a really really good game and the control is so good but the ending was a little sad:(
almost my first indie 2D game and definitely the best one
10/10 will kill demons with the boys again
You HAVE to buy the complete game.
I'm dumb, still waitng for the complete game to be on sale.
Sally Face is a hauntingly beautiful indie game that draws players in with its unique art style, complex characters, and intriguing mysteries. The game’s visuals are instantly memorable, with an art style that feels like a cross between dark cartoons and sketchy horror aesthetics. Every environment and character is crafted with a blend of eerie charm and gritty detail, which perfectly suits the unsettling story that unfolds.
The characters in Sally Face are brilliantly written. Each one, from the protagonist Sal to his friends and family, feels distinct, layered, and genuine. There’s a surprising depth to each personality, adding to the sense of realism and emotional weight as you navigate the story. This is especially true with characters like Larry and Ashley, who are more than mere sidekicks; they’re integral to Sal’s journey and bring out different facets of his complex personality.
One of the standout aspects of Sally Face is the inclusion of secrets scattered throughout the game, rewarding players who explore every nook and cranny. These hidden details and Easter eggs reveal layers to the story that aren’t immediately obvious, deepening the lore and making the world feel alive. The game even subtly introduces LGBTQ+ representation in characters like Todd, Sal’s friend and a gifted inventor. Todd’s sexuality is presented with subtlety and respect, woven into his character without overshadowing the main storyline.
Overall, Sally Face is an unforgettable journey through mystery, horror, and human connection. It’s a game that leaves you with lingering questions and a haunting sense of attachment to its world and characters.
personally not a fan of the direction this game goes in but the first couple episodes are really great. insane art, story, and shock factor that you simply can't find in other games.
the vibes and shivers this game offers is incredible. favorite visual novel game so far
This game is worth every penny. Plenty of my friends recommended it as well as people who recorded play-through's of it. Sally Face includes a beautifully-written story that hooks you from the beginning. The diverse and creative art style is something I have never seen before, but it adds so much more to the overall feel of things. Not to mention, if you're big on puzzles and mysteries, well this game is full of them, with a bunch of Easter eggs to help you get to know the characters and history better.
From my own personal perspective, as an aspiring artist (pretty much every form of art, ranging from literature to music), I think this game is inspiring, as the creators did an impeccable job of showing their creativity, and making a chilling, addicting game. As soon as I first heard of Sally face, years ago, I was immediately interested, from only reading about the plot. I one-hundred percent recommend buying the game, if not just the first episode to give it a try, because I am positive it'll be worth the time.
A simple sidescrolling adventure, carried by the very genuine and weirdly wholesome sentiment of it's story.
This game is great. The characters are extremely well written and the game doesnt feel rushed. This game is high quality and the story is immaculate. The character deaths dont feel forced for shock factor, they add depth to the game. Overall, this game is absolutely awesome and i recommend it to anyone looking to play a sad but meaningful game.
Its a cute and good indie game with interesting characters, sweet friendship dynamics, a fitting artstyle, and its own way of storytelling and worldbuilding- until the forth episode. From then on it tries to overexplain and rises its stakes way too high, going from a game about friendship and the occult, to a whole world-saving mission that stretches a bit.
THIS GAME IS NOT LIKE FRAN BOW
it's a great game, don't get me wrong, but if you got here because you were looking for a cute little point n click to follow up Fran Bow, BE WARNED. this game is SOOO much heavier than FB. by a lot. i was not ready for the level of intensity this game brought. it's really well done, but damn. my heart hurts. bravo devs!
i love all the different styles it dives into at the end too. beautiful art. and an awesome metal soundtrack. probably gonna have to replay this one a lot.
how to get in the most legal trouble possible 101:
kill like 12 people viciously and violently
lie to police and law enforcement about the whereabouts of your dead best friend and your relationship to him
maintain your innocence and claim you did not kill all those people in spite of the mountain of evidence, including security footage, proving that you did in fact kill all those people
tell the media as much about your story as possible
choose to represent yourself in court and forgo the assistance of a lawyer
get executed
???
profit
great job sally face. love you buddy
– do you remember the first time i saw you without your mask?
– how could i forget.
– you were headbanging so hard, it flew right off and whacked me in the face! heh. you were so worried about my bloody nose that you didn't even notice at first.
– i felt bad.
– yeah, but then once i told you i was fine.. why did you cry?
– because you didn't look away.
I am really annoyed with the way this game is designed!!!
You will accidentally skip crucial storyline elements unless you get 100% completion during each episode play through.
That is terrible game design. Extra achievements should always be OPTIONAL.
I shouldn't end up missing out on crucial parts of the storyline just cause I didn't get a 100% play through.
ESPECIALLY when I can't go back and get all the achievements without starting each episode chapter all over again from the very beginning.
Now, instead of just playing the game and exploring on my own, I have to follow a walkthrough guide every step of the way.
Where is the fun in that?
UPDATE: After finishing Episode 1 and 2 with 100% completion, I have now decided to give up on playing the rest of this game. I am going to just watch a play through or read a write up to find out the rest of the story. I can't do this anymore. So much of my time has been wasted. If you fail the Episode 3 Prologue, you are trapped in a very long sequence that you have to finish before you can exit and try the Prologue again. My gawd. Whoever designed this game, why would you do this??? TERRIBLE.
this game is just too good i swear. played it and replayed it so many times and i still think its somewhere in top 10 for me
Sally Face is a unique horror game about a boy named Sal, who has a prosthetic face. The game combines creepy visuals and an eerie soundtrack to create a captivating atmosphere.
As you explore different places and solve puzzles, you uncover the mysteries of Sal's life and the strange events in his apartment building. The characters are well-developed, each with their own stories, making it easy to relate to their struggles.
The plot is unpredictable, with twists that keep you engaged. It touches on themes of identity, friendship, and belonging, balancing dark moments with humor and warmth.
Overall, Sally Face is an emotional journey that stays with you. Whether you play it or watch someone else, it's a compelling story worth experiencing. If you enjoy suspenseful games with depth, Sally Face is a great choice.
I will forever be scarred by the bologna incident.
I never really got into this game during it's peak, on the surface it just didn't interest me I guess. I decided to give it a shot last night cause it showed up on my recommended games and I didn't regret it a bit. Episode one alone had me thoroughly hooked with it's interesting characters and gripping story. 10/10.
This is a fantastic and very dark, spooky game. I loved exploring everywhere possible, especially because the art style and mysterious story work so well together. You do have to be very observant playing this game. Also it's great to play at night for extra spookiness. I now feel extremely attached to Sal, this is one of my favorite main characters ever!
Sally face is definitely one of the best games I have ever played. All the characters have so much personality, the story is amazing and ever chapter has a different feel to it, with them still have the same enjoyable game play. The puzzles are not too hard to do, and the game keeps you hooked in at all times. This game will make you feel all kinds of emotions and make you want to replay it over again. I 10000% recommend this game as I have loved every second playing it!
“Sally Face” “Larry Face.”
What an amazing game with a beautiful story and beautiful Soundtrack, especially if you love metal. A must
This game is a safe place of sorts.
Ever since the game released I've been going back to it.
It's a classic, great memorable characters, interesting lore, fun puzzles, funny dialogue, great replay-ability, AMAZING god-sent soundtrack, and Gizmo.
Bless the place this game has in my heart, dev poured his soul into this and it damn shows.
Excellent indie horror game; gruesome content throughout. It will certainly not be everyone's cup of tea. My only real critique is that the final episode felt awfully short and the ending is abrupt compared to the rest of the game. If there's ever more content released, I'll be playing in the future.
i can never get enough of this game. i think ive replayed it about 4 times ,SO worth it. so excited for Sally Face 2 and will most definitely be purchasing when it comes out.
Good art, good story, good dialog in general. Really good point-and-click game.
As a classic-style adventure game, Sally Face is a step forward in some ways, by simplifying the UI and gameplay mechanics. It playes as a 2D side-scrolling game instead of the point & click style that one would have thought more appropriate, but it works!
Visually, it is stunning, with a colorful and grim color palette, and a hand drawing art-style that makes it timeless, and not only that, the art is fantastic.
It has good music, an interesting story, good character development, and enough scares and atmosphere to consider it a modern classic of horror games.
the game is telling me to say what i like or wtv so i liked the part when everything. i liked the whole thing. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes. yes.
