Serenity
The storytelling and atmosphere of the game overall was really beautiful. It put me on an emotional journey I didn't expect, but one I didn't oppose either. It was really moving, and when it wasn't bringing me to tears it was leaving me in awe of the world I was looking at. It's a beautiful game.
Pacing was masterfully done, the world itself is very interesting and the idea of documenting and learning about what this game has to offer is very clever. A nice change of pace from the hack and slash games I play, in fact, there are times when I did get goosebumps in some scenes.
This game is more of an experience than a game. It is something that is either making you feel incredibly depressed and anxious when playing it, or will make you feel very chill and relaxed.
In some cases the mood is totally wrong; the game paint itself as a narrative adventure where the protagonist (and you) come to terms with some parts of themselves and "growing up" so to speak. Sadly the message is very mixed. The intro is gorgeous and really make you feel connected to the protagonist and her mother. But then the whole thing fall apart.
You are in a world that is empty basically; everything is abandoned and in disuse, as if you were coming out of a fallout vault. Instead of feeling warm and comfy it feels dirty, gritty and abandoned. The scenery is colorful but you see nature absorbing desolation and ruins; as part of the message of the "seasons"; but the way in which the graphics is presented is better suited for a survival or psychological horror type of game.
The interesting mechanic of collecting data for your journal becomes pretty quickly a very tedious and unsatisfying effort. All you do is to take screenshots and audio recording that bear no real impact in the end. If you collect enough "POI" data you unlock a brief monologue from the protagonist, and some stickers and quotes to add to the diary; but that's it.
The game loop is basically go around, snap pictures, self-monolog and carry on. Sometimes you find a soul to share some chit chat about but overall it is quite empty in terms of content in the gameloop.
Not sure what was I expecting when I started, but it went downhill as the story progressed. Beside wasting time there is no incentive in looking around as you won't get answers. There is nothing to find out beside what is placed in front of your face, and the powerful message about grief overcome and take care of yourself and explore, is totally lost as you keep snapping pictures and record audio, as nobody really cares in the end.
To me it is that kind of game you get for few bucks, experience once and move on. It is well made overall, although the graphics are a mixed bag as in some places are gorgeous but in other places is really low quality from an artistic perspective. Sound is OK; the voiceover is a mixed bag between good delivery and some totally detached sentences. Audio is sparse but gives the feeling of "loneliness" and empty that the game goes for. Interactions are minimal, if something can be interacted with you will see a prompt, and conversations while have different questions does not seem to affect anything, as I tried to load a previous save and change responses, and I didn't see much changes.
Riding the bike and controlling the character is either pleasant or frustrating. Control the speed is hard and the button mapping is not ideal, but works for most part. There is no collision damage, can't die, can't go outside the invisible walls, so it is basically on rail for most part. Walking is mostly the same .
In the end I barely suggest this game, and not even at full price. The message is great, the art is nice and it is put together competently, but the overall vibe is totally wrong for what they went for, and in general the empty world and themes that are watered down is what brings this game down quite a lot. Could have been a 8 or even a 9, but end up being barely a 6.
Get it on sale; the demo does not have the main game mechanic where you ride the bike, so even if you try it you may get an incomplete feel for what the game is and does.
8/10
I've really enjoyed the game so far, I like the themes and how poetic it is. I like the exploration and NPCs.
However, I've had to push through this game bc of the camera angles. It's wonky, it's slow and overall really uncomfortable which is a shame considering the game is set around exploration and contemplation. I've had a few bugs with the placement of items in the journal as well. The character movement is painfully slow and that pushes me to always bike to avoid losing time walking and I think it's sad considering I would have paid closer attention to my surroundings if I didn't have so much trouble with the camera and movement.
I still very much enjoyed the game and I hope it gets updated to fix some of these issues so I can recommend it to friends cause it has a lovely storyline and concepts.
There are few games that make you stop, take a deep breath, and simply exist in a moment. Season: A Letter to the Future is one of them. It’s more than just a game—it’s an experience, a meditation, a quiet invitation to slow down and truly see the world around you.
From the moment I stepped into Estelle’s shoes, leaving behind the safety of her home to document a world on the verge of change, I felt a strange sense of reverence. Unlike many games that push you forward with objectives and challenges, Season encourages stillness. It doesn’t just allow you to pause and observe—it insists on it. It asks you to listen to the wind, capture the distant echo of laughter, and preserve fleeting beauty before it disappears forever.
The gameplay is simple: you travel by bicycle, stopping to take photographs, record sounds, and write in your journal. But beneath this simplicity lies something deeply profound. The act of documenting—of looking, listening, and feeling—becomes a spiritual practice. It reminded me of the way we move through life, often rushing past moments we’ll never get back. But Season doesn’t let you rush. It teaches you to be present.
There were times when I put the controller down just to watch the environment—sunlight filtering through trees, water reflecting the sky, the gentle hum of life in the distance. The art style, soft and dreamlike, feels like a memory being painted in real time. The music, subtle yet evocative, carries the weight of nostalgia and longing.
More than anything, Season left me with a sense of peace. It made me reflect on the impermanence of things, on the importance of preserving what matters—not just in photographs or journals, but in memory, in feeling, in the quiet spaces of the heart.
I walked away from this game with a renewed appreciation for the present moment. For the little things—the warmth of a morning sun, the rhythm of my own breath, the stories we carry with us. Season is not just a game to play, but a world to step into, to breathe in, to remember. And for that, I’m grateful.
⭐️ 10/10 ⭐️
very cool game about our relationship with the past, and how it affects our conception of the future, one of the most interesting and thematically powerful ive played in a while.
It's a tad glitchy/poorly optimized, the va is a bit off at times, and its clear some bits are lower quality then the devs would have liked likely because of money.
But its very ambitious, well written (although I dont expect everyone to click with its writing), and i expect it to stick in my mind for a long time.
So take the time to find a patch sacred square of dirt, and lay down in it.
The story that we follow in this game is incredible. All of the sounds, the artwork and the calming narration from our young traveler really pulls you in. I loved the element of recording the lives of people through sound recordings, sketches and photography. Big shout-out to the graphic designers and the playtesters who helped make the play-though as smooth as possible. Would recommend to anyone 100%! Thanks.
Overall Rating: [7/10]
▶ Gameplay – [7/10]
Pretty basic. You drive around with your bike and take pictures or recordings of things and write them down in a journal that you can design yourself.
▶ Story – [8/10]
The story is quite interesting and sets the theme of your character and the world well. Characters and the world in general are also very well written, so that I was always curious about all the things which made me want to see and understand everything. Which is very interesting for this type of game.
▶ Graphics/Visuals – [9/10]
The visual style is unique and fits the theme for the game very well. You have to like this comicy/cel shaded style though. But I think it works very well here.
▶ Sound/Music – [9/10]
There is very good music and the environmental sounds are fantastic as well. There are also integrated in such a way, that it draws your attention to the important things on the map, which is very well executed.
▶ Performance & Bugs – [3/10]
I unfortunately encountered lots of smaller bugs that really bugged me. In any other game, I don't think it would've been that bad, but here it regularly kicked me out of the immersion, which sucked.
▶ Steam Deck Experience – [1/10]
Verified, but runs really poorly. Even with Render-Scaling set to 50% (which makes the game super ugly) it still runs with like 20-30 FPS, which is not playable for me.

▶ Final Verdict
It's a small gem that I can recommend anyone. Just don't expect it to perform well on the Steam Deck, because it doesn't work well there. But seeing and experiencing this small and interesting world with all its characters is definitely a good experience.
✔ Pros:
- Great visuals and sound design
- Interesting world and characters
- Interesting premise
✖ Cons:
- Does not run well on Steam Deck
[*] Cam feels buggy
A beautiful game. As someone who has lost a loved one recently, the game has really pulled at my heartstrings. A good game that you can probably finish faster and in one session, but taking your time with the game really makes it better. There was a tiny issue in the last part where things would not render properly, but I just reset the game and it was all fine. You can probably play it again but the first time will be the most memorable.
This game didn't make me feel rushed, probably the reason it took me a while to come back on and finish it after putting it off for months. Thank you to the people who created cause damn that shit was deep. I don't know what to do now. I loved the design concept of the whole game and the sound atmosphere and especially the touching meaningful narrative of this game. The valley was by far my favourite bit, even when I felt a subtle uncanny-ness of it all. Getting to meet all the different characters really made me emotional in different ways. This game made me feel things. Thank you SEASON.
My god can I say a lot about Season... It is a beautifully executed game with lovely visuals and fleshed out map for us to explore. The story is beautiful and somber facing themes of living life to it's fullest and leaving a mark on this world... The message of the game is absolutely phenomenal and in moments in the game I cried, not because of any specific sad part but that you feel so small in the game. It makes you reflect on how you life your life and teaches you to savor the earth and nature around you. The game play is smooth and the character you met seem to be like actual people with life and stories to tell you. I HIGHLY recommend if you want a slower more spiritual game that will make see life a little bit more different. 10/10 Game
Beautifully crafted game all around. Immersive and enchanting world, gorgeous visuals, and i love the unique feature of hand-crafting a journal as you explore. the controls are very intuitive as well. I would recommend this game to ANYONE regardless of skill level/experience with gaming.
This game is beautiful! The story, the art, the gameplay, all of it is lovely. I love getting to chose how your character shows the next generation what life was like. LOVE
i enjoyed the game, unfortunately, it feels like i am playing half of a story, and had such an unsatisfying time playing i had to google if it really ended
i would not pay 20 dollars for this unfortunately.. i really did love what i got to play though
super cozy and calmed my anxious mind
A beautiful, delicate thing -- one of the more affecting pieces of art about our haunted present I can think of. A meditative experience that people will experience differently, each time, and for each person. Lovely to look at and lovely to behold, full of sorrow and hope and pain and fear and love. An immense achievement. I wish it were longer, I wish we could get more.
Decent game, but the framerate on steamdeck is hot garbage. Probably will never finish it
Very rarely does a game reflect and walk you through the grief of loss and the experience of life as a constantly mobile thing. I recommend this game to anyone dealing with unresolved feelings, moving somewhere new and pessimistic about the future. An absolutely lovely experience
Season is a great game giving bittersweet and nostalgic vibes with its main focus to get the story / stories across. The photos you take, the sounds you record and the journal you make feels personal. I don't think there are right or wrong answers on the choices in the dialogue - you just gain more elements of a story from different perspectives according to what you choose. Great narrative so far ! I think someone who likes to explore, see beauty in all kinds of small things and likes creativity would enjoy the game. The bicycle was a bit hard for me to control since I played with keyboard and mouse but I got the hand out it. Great game and very beautiful landscapes.
10/10
A Era is a SEASON
Life, world, war, peace and SEASON. Use the camera to record the season. One of the most Tranquil and Meaningful game I've ever played.
Contemplating the era and the future. Reflecting on memories and the past. Presenting the meaning behind these through a story set before the arrival of a natural disaster. Slow down, then immerse yourself in the scenery, the interplay of light and shadow, the stories, and the meaning. Experience the entire valley from a third-person perspective, as if you are the protagonist, walking through it, feeling as though you are truly there, discovering the story of the valley.
The Grey Hand, the artist, the woman, the child, the monk and the traveller. Everyone has a unique story and the mean behind them. With this end of SEASON.
Anyway, I really enjoy this game and it shows me a really grand perspective to think of those philosophical depth. Short but introspective:)
Season: A Letter to the Future is an enchanting, wistful narrative-led walking (bicycling?) sim about presence and gratitude.
Like all good science fiction it is not predictive but descriptive of the time it was made in. As our society bemoans the loss of many communal third spaces, finding online diasporas only goes so far. Season is a curious and tender reminder of what is lost and gained during a paradigm shift. Its poetic and patient approach to story exemplifies that hope and despair are but two sides of the same coin, merely skipping across the surface of the self, before we decide whether or not to make the choice to dive into the depths of discovery where conviction, sincerity and community flow.
The story is familiar and warming yet bittersweet, it makes the characters feel fleshed out.
Art style is also gorgeous and the lighting is amazing.
Left a void in my chest
9/10
only wish it were longer and we explored more areas, however, i like the ending and its message lots
it filled an empty space...
Really fun chill game, but wish there were more areas to explore. Similar vibe to 'fragile dreams' I enjoyed looking through the journal at the end of the game and seeing everything that I had collected!
Beautiful game, I enjoyed my time quite a bit with it. It has wonderful thoughts to share about the nature of memory, time periods, travelling, and more. This game was one of several things that pushed me back towards journaling more.
A couple things I loved: The reflective, slow pieces. The beauty of the world you inhabit. The depth of the lore. The characters.
A couple things that bothered me a little bit: Maybe this is just me, but I reached a point about halfway through where I was just slapping things on my journal. I also felt a little sad when I took a picture of something that seemed neat to me but didn't get a quote, like I was looking at the "wrong" things. Finally, there's two endings, and without spoiling it too much, I wish they diverged more.
Ultimately, I have a hard time suggesting this game at full price just because it's not that long. It is beautiful tho, so maybe that's just a matter of how much you value a beautiful 6 hour experience. At the very least, wishlist it and get it on sale.
If you like relaxing cozy games with a great story, Season: A Letter To The Future is for you! This beautiful game has a stunning art style, great characters and the writing and voice acting is phenomenal. Beautiful music too! The world is pretty big and loved exploring the story and beautiful landscape.
Gorgeous.
Gorgeous, chill game. If you're looking for something with beautiful graphics and a lovely but kind of sad story I think you'll enjoy this one.
absolute fire
I love how peaceful this game is + the visuals and story !
This game is a beautiful masterpiece. It's a meditation on memory and art, how that influences the world and how there is always meaning in it. If you are reading this I hope you take the time to play this game. It can be as short as an afternoon or you can spend months exploring it, that's up to you. Plus the 3D art in this game is amazing and I love it.
wow. im speechless. this game is so amazing and far different from anything i've ever played. i loved being able to design the diary pages and just stroll through the landscape in my pace, take photos and record sounds. it is soooo amazing but sadly it's a little short with a cliffhanger sort of :(
I will never forget the cow whose name was lost to time.
10/10 This game is an absolute gem. Everything about it is beautiful. The world and the story. The characters. The visuals. It just lives in my head rent-free.
Every little thing that we can appreciate in life, will pass quickly like a season.
Beautiful game, simple concept, the Ideas of seasons can be a bit vague but enjoyable non the less
棒
BEAUTIFUL narrative game both visually and story-wise. I love the flat local colors paired with the glowing ambient light - they make for such charming, cinematic cutscenes that are pushed further by the cinemascope aspect ratio. My only gripe is that I wish it were longer, especially since the game refers to multiple regions but only explores a couple of them.
Great game but laggy and frame rate drops on steam deck
It's a work of art!
The story, world, characters, and sounds are beautiful and interesting. The writing is excellent. I like the decisions I get to make and the things I get to do. The journal stamps are cute, and I love that I can edit journal pages. It is nice that the game categorizes your photos and sounds for you. My favorite part of the game is interacting with the cows. I wish I did not have to take specific photos in order to complete certain pages. Having to explore Tieng Valley in one "day" makes me feel rushed, so I wish there was some dialogue that told me to take my time. When taking photos, I have never understood how changing the focus improved the images at all, but maybe I'm just dumb. I might also like a general "landscape" page and "animals" page so I could add more photos of cows :)
A beautiful story with beautiful visuals
This was a beautiful game. A little short, But it was BEAUTIFUL. It's a shame it ended so soon, I wish it was more expansive so we could learn more about the world, it's past, and it's people. I loved the scrap-booking/journaling/photography elements. Looking forward to more games and stories from this developer! I got this game on sale, and for it's shortness, I think I'm happy about that. There's virtually no replayability for me, unless you want to redo some choices.
Also, I hope the cows got out.
There's a lot of heart in this one, lots of love put into the compositions around the world and the writing. Loooooove the journal mechanic, genuinely one of my favorite parts of the game. At times the game comes off very profound, and others a bit under-baked, but at all times it's easy to get swept up in the really unique world building. There's a lot to discover, document, and explore for the naturally curious.
All that being said, there are a few issues I have with the work. The bicycle really does control awful, even with a controller. At times I can feel the momentum they were going for, but most of the time I am taking wide turns into a rock that breaks the camera. There are multiple basic gameplay, animation, and visual bugs you'll come across as you play. Some of the voice acting is awkward, and I personally don't vibe with a few art style choices - particularly the more abstract people designs, certain font choices, and the speech bubble presentation. Nothing is game breaking, but it is all stuff that breaks immersion in a otherwise very immersive experience.
If you like the idea of just exploring and taking photos you'll probably enjoy it well enough, but if that's not appealing, then you might wanna skip this one. I am overall a bit sad to see the studio downsize after this title, this is a really unique game with a lot of heart, and I think it would've been nice to see more come from them.
Take your time, enjoy the beauty of it and bask in the story
Beautiful and extremely well-written game! so many great lines that will stick with me for a while... a must play for anyone who enjoys journaling or scrapbooking
I don't have anything interesting to say exept I played this on the steam deck and I encountered no glitches or problems, and it ran very well overall though sometimes the frames would drop a little bit for a few seconds.
Super cool game! I enjoyed every little bit it had to offer.
