Описание

Agarest begins with a hero, who at birth, was given a difficult task in defeating the Archdemon. The society revolves around the mythos of Yiris, the Larva commonly known as the Sacred Princess, who blessed the world and fell in love with a human. Martyred for her love, she was then punished by the heavenly creator. The Archdemon arrived soon after, and Yiris’ lover pledged to destroy the evil Archdemon with the infamous Ciel Blade, a sword of rainbow.

A Hero, or Chosen One, is trusted to produce an heir that can at last put an end to the Archdemon once and for all.

The battle system itself is okay but boss battles are too difficult. Even on easy mode, it is impossible to proceed without tedious grinding.

Lulled by the beautiful followers at his side, the divine blade in his hand, and the promise of eternal greatness nestled firmly in the vacuum of his head, the young doofus and a wanna-be hero Rain makes a critical mistake and gets involved in the generations’ long curse… all of this because he wanted to get married. Soon Rain and his child learn that having a happy marital life in Agarest is the worst possible fate one can deserve. And we as players get to experience this underwhelming story of love and lust in a game that looses all of its gameplay splendor and narrative beats from the very start.

Pros:
+ Some nifty tactical options make combat encounters engaging
+ I’m trying to think of more positive things, gimme a moment…

Neutral:
O The skill/ability tree seemingly wants to offer players plenty of freedom, but is self-limited by resource requirements
O Extremely forgettable music and sound effects

Cons:
- Appalling artistic/visual presentation
- Simplistic and underwhelming story filled with irritating and vacuous characters
- Repetitive combat and boring world traversal system
- Lame and uninspiring villains

She’s Got Motion

ROAW Mariage is a JRPG game and a fourth title in the Agarest saga that mixes the basic tactical combat system with visual novel elements that will easily eat up 20-50 hours of your time. One of the main selling gimmicks and a genuinely interesting part of the series is the lineage story, where your main characters finds that someone special, gets an offspring who inherits some of the powers from both parents, and that child continues the main story instead.

While there is plenty of dialogue and story development, you’ll spend most of the time fighting, which is deservedly the most polished aspect of the game. You’ll start by using bog-standard attacks and special moves in combat. However, as you fight mini-bosses and the main villain, you will have to use advanced tactical options to win, such as laying traps that cause direct damage, buff your companions and de-buff enemies, or activate combo attacks at crucial moments.

On top of this, every character in your party has attacking and defensive skills, along with special moves they can use depending on the combat role you assign to them. A healer will have powerful healing and resurrection powers, attacker will have high damage skills aimed at quickly incapacitating enemy. Supporter will have skills that manipulate the flow of the combat by placing debilitating effects on an enemy and additional resistances on your companions, while a defender has immense defense moves that can save your companion from the instant-death abilities by higher-level enemies.

That’s not all, as all companions also have super-powerful Sacred Arts, combo attacks where two or more characters work together to deal the most damage. Also by using these arts, you nurture better bonds among companions which have significant effect on the story and narrative choices. Make no mistake; ROAW Mariage is a difficult game that rewards finishing combat encounters as soon as possible. If you are not using all of your skills to end the combat quickly, your chances of survival will fall drastically with each consecutive round.

You Let a Lotta People Down

You can feel that the developers were cutting corners everywhere in this game. The visual presentation of ROAW Mariage is of low quality and ugly to look at, both with the 2D character portraits, anemic background paintings, and extremely low-poly and jaggy 3D models of companions and enemies. The music is so unremarkable that I cannot remember a single tune after finishing the game. The sound effects and Japanese voice acting is average at best and forgettable.

The design of the enemies is uninspired which makes combat more dull. You’ll fight domestic animals and banditry vegetables almost every single time, up until the final boss decides to shuffle onto the main stage. Cities and villages have the most generic fantasy look to them I’ve seen in a long time.

Your foolish cohort can travel around the continent by following the red zig-zag lines across the world map. Traveling this world is one of the most exasperating feelings you’ll feel in a long while in any game. You gain new skills by leveling up or by visiting shrines throughout the Agarest continent.

As you gain new personal and combat role levels (yes, there are two leveling systems you have to keep a track of), you will improve basic abilities and gain new skills. But to face more powerful foes, you will have to buy stronger ability boosts and skills from shrines in every city. You can choose and buy unlocked skills with your cash, but to unlock other skills, you will have to gather ingredients that defeated enemies leave behind. And if that sounds to you like a perfect receipt for a whole lotta grinding, you’d be right.

You’ll have to defeat a lot of enemies and chase them all over the continent to gain access to skills that make the difference in combat. You see, you can’t just fight an evil magenta wild carrot anytime you want to gain the smelly root. Oh no, you have to visit the specific location where these buggers live to get the ingredient that unlocks the skill to set powerful traps that automatically resurrect fallen comrades in combat. Overall, Mariage leaves a poor first, intermediate, and lasting impression.

Wrong Side of Love

So, what is the story, you say… The paper-thin plot places the burden on saving the world on a passive and bland main character, Rain, while the great big evil is chasing them, tied in a confrontation that lasts for generations. The main protagonist is accompanied by chosen maidens who are obligated to help the chosen one in his crusade against the story plot that a 10-year old could have made. They have a bit more unique character traits from Rain, which is not saying a lot. The main antagonist, Eclipse exists only to spew petty and childish one-liners.

The story is boring and disappointing, as there are a few genuine dramatic moments in the game that are let down by forceful exposition and idiotic dialogue. And the overall exploration on the religious motives of rebirth and predestination in the game is an excellent food for the brain, that is when ROAW Mariage shyly decides to tackle them.

If there were a few of these gaping flaws in the game, I could recommend Record of Agarest War marriage. But the game is so adamant in disappointing the player at every step of the way, that all the lovey-dovey moments and nail-gripping fights can’t save this experiment in madness.

what is this? what kind of game is this ? there should be a third game of agarest instead of this and it is true agarest 2 gameplay wasn’t very enjoyable for me but at least the events are fun. more fun than this game.

daddy chaos is pure. beautiful. so much left unsaid about his past. and there are some characters were mentioned in the series and never appeared in game.

Leina from agarest 2

and Varna The light goddess who Lenion and Chaos both yearn for.

this is unforgivable this is unforgivable this is unforgivable.

This game is a lot of fun with some spicy moments. It could be my (lack of) skills but this game difficulty really spikes for the bosses so I had to grind and experiment with the job and skill systems.
A very straightforward RPG with turn-based battles and great music.

Editors, Translators someone from your team needs to be paid more! I have just started and there are already so many grammar problems, otherwise it has an interesting party system and I'm having fun with it. But if you could fix the text problems it would be so much better.

The game play is a vast improvement from Agarest 2 but I still just cannot get into the play style,
The story line feel forced at the very beginning which make it a struggle to continue.
I would recommend this game only if on sale and even then only if you are a fan of the Agarest series.

Amazing art by Blade and great voice acting make this game an enjoyable experience.
Just forget about difficulties above "easy" until New Game+

Record of Agarest War Mariage got grinding, strategic turn-based battles and ecchi scenes in HD - for your enjoyment.

So happy to see this game in english, on Steam and uncensored too~

But the gameplay is different from other Agarests, still:
I recommend this game for any Man(or Woman) of Culture.

Story: 8/10
CG: 7/10
Graphic: 3/10, remind me of the time i still play with my PS1 games.
Gameplay: 0/10, way too much grinding to even enjoy the game.

Don't buy this unless you're a die hard fan of the series or you have a massive amount of time to kill.

I have played all of the Agarest games and loved most of them. Except Agarest 2 but still overall worth playing since I am a huge fan of the series. This game however, is borderline horrible and not fun to play. I don't mind the agarest grind, but the boss spike in difficulty is a joke. I was really hoping for a game close to Agarest Zero but this is so far from it. Everything is a grind and not a fun one. Everything in the game vs other titles in the series is dumbed down. Generic skills, items, crafting nothing seems worth doing other then grinding. Then the boss 1 shots you.Maybe if you try to out level the boss that will work. NOPE. monsters stop dropping items required to upgrade your talent trees. So you are left with hours of doing nothing but getting factions of exp to pass levels. Then the boss 1 shots you again after the grind. They really missed the mark with this game. I would love to play another Agarest title that kept me playing for 200+ hours grinding and beating post-game dungeons and boss. This is not it.

Stupid Difficult enemy spike , you defeat ordinary enemies with regular attack but when boss fight , it can kill you with AOE attack and regenerate its HP above your attack point damage. Healing party like shit only heal 25% HP 1 char. Every time my char attacks boss, that fucking boss will get its turn after my char attack it even not its turn next. (except for attacking with your GP). Item shop didn't show who can wear the armor.

Second worst JRPG game i have played after Dark Rose Valkyrie , yeah yours too IFI
GLAD TO HEAR THIS GAME IS DEAD

Heavy difficulty curve (just start on easy) while in itself not a bad thing, is compounded by mistranslated skills that are either contrary to their effect or just confusing leading to using magic skills that are instead physical that may or may not be single target or inflict any status effects. this leads to a very frustrating game to play, but it is a somewhat fun rpg when you figure out what things do. i can not recommend anybody buy this game without first knowing how badly translated it is.

I would highly recommend this game if you have Art Money or some other way to freeze the party HP during boss battles. Or if you are a masochist. Since most players don't fit into either of those categories, save yourself a headache.

I thought the others might exaggerating about the difficulty of boss battles, but they are not. One of the early bosses does such massive AOE damage that I had 3 party members healing. The other was doing 700-900 damage to the boss per turn. The boss regenerates 800 HP each time it takes a turn, which is sometimes twice per round. This is on EASY. Using Art Money I was able to win.

If the devs would cut the boss AOE damage by about 60%, it would be playable.

It's actually quite a fun game except for the boss battles. Several ending options make it replayable. This could really be a hidden gem.

This is an interesting SRPG set in the Agarest universe. Thing is, I'm not sure how it ties into the other games... Anyway, you start as Rain, wielder of the Ciel blade, who has three maiden companions, as fated by the laws of the series... You fight monsters and raise affection with those three... and eventually choose one to produce an heir who may be the one who defeats the Archdemon.

Decent game, and a worthy Agarest title. Will take some time to complete, however.

About 9 hours into the game it's clear the both the gameplay and the story are far weaker than the main series of Agarest. An okay game for fans of the franchise and a weak game for regular JRPG fans. Additional minus points for the cringy romance and shallow characters.

Short in content when compared to other Agarest installements but very solid.
A decent amount of gameplay but also filled with a lot of depth to the story.
Unlike the other games, which had generic lines for each generation, dialogues change depending on who you marry.
Overall not the best Agarest game but acceptable.

(First impressions)
Saw this on sale so thought why not?
Had a couple crashes, but that is to be expected from a day one purchase.
As for the combat, nothing to write home about to be honest.

(Characters)
Well, the MC is your typical wet noodle protagonist. (Especially around the support cast.)
As for the support cast, a decent first impression.

Definitely reminds me of a PS2 - PS3 era game, which isn't a bad thing.

Might update once 100% status is acquired.

But for now, would I recommend?
No, not at asking price.
I would advise waiting for a month or two after the necessary fixes are made and a favorable sale of 50% or more.

Update:
So after 100%'ing this game I must say that I did like it despite the issues I had with it.

After taking the time to look into the story though, I liked some points about it but it ultimately was a fetch quest.

The inheritance system (Not sure if that's the technical term) was something I haven't seen done in other games and I did enjoy that, until I learned that once you got into NG+ it didn't matter.

As for the grind aspect, first playthrough was, something. But afterwards, I found I could complete both generations within 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

In short, I did enjoy this game and the routes but, sadly it doesn't change my initial thought on this game.

But hey, if you enjoy grinding maybe you'll like this title.

Well, onto the other Agarest games...

Played the game for about 4 hours and can say that its an alright RPG. I haven't had any performance issues so far and no fps drops or screen tearing. Was a ittle hesitant that this game wasn't ported by Ghostlight. Most of the games that I've played by them have had great ports like Mary Skelter. The element and terrain mechanics make gameplay more interesting instead of just mindless skill spamming until the boss is dead. Overall good game if your'e looking for a lighthearted RPG to play.

seems much more grndy than the other ones, and combat is a regular turnbased RPG instead of the turn based strategy of the others.

also difficulty, even on normal seems high.

will probably update when i beat the game.

Edit:
A very positive VS other games of series: the conversations differ depending on first wife AND gender of second hero. as well as story scenes.

a very negitive VS other games of series: game difficulty spikes almost randomly. some common foes going from one area to the next will DESTROY you if your not prepared. and that's on easy. IMO the diffuculties should be labled Hard, Very hard, and INSAINE. not Easy, Normal, and hard. some of the bosses/optional enimies can kill party in a few hits on easy, even when EXP gained/needed to level is at point when you need 70+ battles.

The develepers needed to tone the damage dealt down for easy.

sorry for spelling.
