1st thing: Everytime you start: "Disclaimer: Pleaaase don't be offended." and you gotta give an O.K.
everytime, it gets annoying.
2nd The game is tedious,
even if you got for the easiest difficulty tools still break, leaving you in situations where you have to backtrack.
Now if we had a bit more interactions in the base (and a consistent base)
this would be a good chance to engage with the Game,
but no there is nothing, the only content is exploring the map, which is occasionally paused by tedious busywork back at base.
And the worst 3rd thing this game does:
"Haha, wub wub, that thing you did was pointless!"
several moments ingame have negative payoff, the moment when your character sneezes is especially horrible.
and really infuriating when its happens repeatedly
Love the game ! Cant wait for more.
Best space simulator.
Fun dark Hummor, short story, and a lot of crafting and resourse managment uwu
Did I like the game? kind of, It has a rough start and is stupidly hard for the first few hours of you don't know what to do, but once you get to chapter 2 or 3 and start understanding how the game works everything gets a lot easier.
there is a problem though, once you get everything set up so you can relax for the rest of the story, the game tells you "Heeeey, so do you remember all that effort you put on the last 10-12 hours? forget about it, now we are a linear game now",
Not, gonna lie, I did like the second half more than the first one but there was a lot of backtracking that was just unnecessary, that backtraking easily added an extra hour or two to my play time for no reason.
Do I recomend it? only if you saw a gameplay and liked the jokes, if this is a bling buy do some homework before buying it
A silly Subnautica type game.
+ Good humorous story with many (sci-fi) references
+ Great music
+ Good graphic style
+ Interesting environment
+ Lots of loot
+ Crafting and base building
+ No bugs (but chicken and cows)
- Base building is well-intentioned, but from chapter 4 (of 6) completely useless.
- Sometimes very long ways
A great game that made me laugh out loud several times. Sometimes a little long-winded. To be honest, I only finished the game on the second attempt. The first time, traveling in a spacesuit was a little tiring after a while, not knowing that there were other ways to get around.
All in all, a well-rounded package that gave me hours of fun.
Simply way too unbalanced and grindy, not in a fun way
When I heard this game described as "Subnautica in space," it immediately caught my attention. The starting area is fun and engaging, but as the game progresses, it starts to feel tedious due to a lack of quality-of-life features like better storage options and earlier access to base building. Base building itself doesn’t even become available until much later in the game, which can be frustrating for players who enjoy that aspect of survival games.
Early on, it’s not always clear where to find essential resources needed to craft upgrades, like new spacesuits, which can cause some trial-and-error frustration. The story is enjoyable, and the humor—packed with jokes and references—helps keep things entertaining. However, gameplay-wise, there are several elements missing that survival games typically have, which can leave the experience feeling incomplete.
By the time you reach chapters 2 and 3, the constant back-and-forth travel between temporary bases, like the engineer’s ship, becomes repetitive. Even when you finally gain access to base building, the mechanics feel unintuitive. The three modules can’t be combined into a single, expandable module, making the process feel overly complicated for no clear reason.
Further into the game, after completing the major objectives and getting onto the final craft, you’re suddenly left without the base you’ve spent time building. At that point, the game shifts into a fetch quest phase with level design that lacks shortcuts, forcing more repetitive backtracking.
That said, the humor continues to shine, and the references to Subnautica and Star Wars at the end were genuinely funny.
I might give Breathedge 2 a try, but I sincerely hope the developers incorporate the missing quality-of-life features that survival games need, such as better storage, a smoother base-building experience, and less tedious travel mechanics. With those additions, this series could really shine.
get this, play this, never have depression anymore
Humorous linear story exploring and surviving in space! Open environment with an immortal chicken, space cows, coffins that are robots, surviving, crafting, exploring with a sardonic AI in your spacesuit. What could go wrong? Fun and tongue in cheek game.
Low fov makes for a bad experience on ultrawides. No way to change it through settings
5 of 10
I could not finish the game as I got bored once I got to Chapter 4.
The game consists of floating in space and exploring wrecks. In the wreckage, you will find technologies and crafting materials. Generally, you need to obtain materials to open the next chapter. After a while, it got repetitive. Running back and forth on my vacuum and bringing forward my materials from previous areas felt like a chore.
Very few bugs...
Interesting dialogue
The base building portion of this game gets literally locked off and is largely irrelevant to the actual game.
I really like this game. You fly around in space, explore cool places, gather resources, build tools and equipment, upgrade equipment, find new places all while uncovering the cool story line.
I definitely recommend this game if you like games like Subnautica.
Loved the game. Could be a bit much of grinding and flying around at times but great humour and i got the babe at the end.
Sooo many easter eggs and goofs in one game! Can't wait for the free content and Breathage 2 they were advertising in-game.
First 3 chapters are really good. Got stuck on the 4th and gave up.
I think I set my expectations too high. Thought it would be like subnautica but it's just a flying simulator. I got bored very fast and continued playing in hopes of something.
I see in the trailer that they got vehicles and guns but it's so boring. Think of starting One Piece.. I know One Piece gets better, I don't know for sure with this game. I still haven't started One Piece btw..
If I can't refund then maybe I'll continue and try to finish it. Get my money's worth.
Update: I got a refund lol
Funny, Quirky, SSSSPPPAAACCCEEE!!!! whats not to love
I've spent about 50 hours in this game, played it though and though because I think it deserved my completely informed opinion.
The beginning is great, 10/10, humor is on point, universe seems interesting, but not rubbed against your face and challenge is fair but interesting. then comes chapter 2 that starts as an expansion of chapter 1, witch sounds great, but that is where the problems start showing up. for the gameplay to stay good in this expanded environment it would require a bit more finesse in the balancing of items, since resources are finite and often hard to come by the game lures you into entering hoarder mode. Since inventory space is limited and the interest points are ever further it turns into a really interesting logistics problem, but at the same time it can't make it necessary because otherwise the game is just not fun. Let me explain by trying to approach the game in 3 different ways:
1- Say you have been hoarding everything you come across and making a bunch of trips to bring stuff forward safe house to safe house. For starters that can get very tedious, but there are worst things to do while you listen to a podcast. The real problem here is actually that you will feel like all the hard work you made to keep a supply of every material was just not worth it since most stuff is usually readily available near where you need them anyway. also, if you hoard somewhere before you are completely done with that place you will quickly find out that the things you need were already there and that you took them all the way to your base and now have to go back and forth some more.
2- Ok then, no hoarding, lets just try to gather what we need from nearby and keep moving forward. Then you bump into another issue. sometimes what you need is nowhere near the place you need it, across the map sometimes (like lead and paint that can only be found near the first area of the map, but are needed in different moments of the game), and its not just long trips, you can easily find yourself lost thinking to yourself where to find something.
3- Ok then, lets hoard just the key ingredients we can't easily get. How? you don't know what resources are more or less needed, more or less available at any given moment of the game beforehand. Metal for example can clog up a lot of space real quick, it's everywhere, but if you suddenly need tons of it you will be feeling a fool to have left all you past behind. For those that want to play it let me give you a quick help: get a bunch of paint and lead from act 1 and all the electronics and glass you lay eyes on. Other than that try to keep a supply of 2 lines maximum of everything else. if you manage things this way you can keep going forward with minimum backtracking and avoiding doing a dozen trips to move all your supplies. Focus on the task at hand. The biggest inventory clogging candidates (there is everywhere, but you don't need much actually) are titanium, water and food, just don't worry about those too much, have a few around, but no need to stock up.
The game suffers an identity crisis between adventure and a survival exploration genres. I kept playing because the lost astronaut cruising though space with his sarcastic AI suit vibe really caught me! But eventually you fix the Normandy and move to the next stage of the game and there is where I believe they really messed up. I wish it were a quick "final boss" mission and be done with it, or a new area to explore, but no, the game turns full linear adventure mode until the end, but you still have a bunch of items to hoard and crafting necessary so you keep thinking you need to get everything, but you don't! The game is linear now and despite the place you gather stuff is now closer than ever, looking into every corner after you've already beat a section is pointless since they need to have everything you need everywhere you go so you don't get soft-locked. This narrative part is not good too, the end feels unfulfilling, a bit sexist and has a bunch of unnecessary exposition. The game shined more as a survival exploration game where the environment forced you to explore and progress mechanically and though the story before you upgrade and get to explore a new zone and so on. It had a cool gameplay loop, but if first fails it a bit and then trashes it. I did enjoy a lot of it, but I'm giving it a thumb down because of the lost potential. Hope the next one doesn't suffer from the same issues.
Atrocious garbage.
A very fun and interesting game! The commentary throughout the game by your suit's AI really adds the cherry on top of this hilarious, exciting game. Overall the game is Hilariously fun and I would totally recommend. 10/10
Great humour throughout the game. great to play, although the beginning is a little tough in the oxygen department. once you get that sorted, then the true fun begins. i can`t wait until breathedge 2. only a few months to go.
Как же этого не хватает в играх ломание 3 стены хочу чтоб было поинтереснее играть а не просто скучный выживач тут же играешь и чувтсвуешь стеб над другими играми и привычками из игр типо прокачки и всякой фигни я довлен
Hilarious spin on the genre. Kept me invested in the story from start to finish!
I tried liking this game. I really did. I love this style of game. From Subnautica to Abiotic Factor, I've played a lot of them. But this game feels wrong. If feels that they confuse punitive with hard. There are some design choices that make this game really infuriating.
First, everything is super far away. You'll find yourself up flying a lot back and forth to proceed in the game. It gets old after sometime.
Second, there are some stuff that you'll need to find for youself to make the upgrades. They are in a single place in a vast map with no hint at all. Good luck for you if you don't happen to find them. And lastly, you don't get your resources back when you deconstruct your base. Given that some resources are very limited, it gets really annoying to build bases instead of being the relaxing part of the game as usual.
There's more tht I didn't like about this game, but they are scondary to the above. I will only mention that the game trie sto be funny, but the jokes are so frequent, to the point that they get old really fast.
I really hate to quit a game before the end, but this one is getting hard to keep on playing.
After 5hrs into my first run of this game i started to have a weird feeling about not progressing the literal third quest: "create crap imposed by the developers".
The whole time i thought i am just free to explore at the moment and collect stuff and upgrade until i reach a certain point. Also i did not google anything so far, because i did not want spoilers.
Turns out: I was supposed to craft some item called "crap imposed by the developers" in the workbench, which due to a common bug just did not show up as a craftable item!
Great job guys!
5/5 hours wasted.
its good but the autosave system is not only not working but completely absent
Humorous, Space, Chicken, Survival, Chicken?!
A Hilariously Dark Space Adventure
Breathedge is a unique and darkly humorous space survival game that takes players on a wild and unpredictable journey. The game's striking visual style, coupled with its absurd and often hilarious storyline, creates a truly unforgettable experience.
The game's survival mechanics, while not the most complex, are well-implemented and add a necessary layer of challenge to the game. However, it's the game's humor and storytelling that truly shine. The witty banter between the main character and his AI suit, who also serves as the game's narrator, is a constant source of amusement. Their dynamic duo provides countless laugh-out-loud moments, perfectly complementing the game's absurd situations and the endearingly inept protagonist.
The game's world, a vast and desolate expanse of space, is beautifully rendered and brimming with hidden secrets.
The game is also filled with clever pop culture references and gaming nods that will delight fans of the genre. The end credits, in particular, are a hilarious and fitting conclusion to this unique and unforgettable adventure.
Breathedge is a must-play for fans of dark humor and space exploration. It's a game that will leave you laughing, thinking, and wanting more.
I really want to like this game, it has so much potential but i just cant do it. Most of the features in this game are there purely to pad out game time without adding any enjoyment to it and the small inventory makes the constant collection of the many many many items you need a slog. wouldnt recommend unless you enjoy spending several hour collecting crafting items for very little payoff
I have to admit, this is a masterpiece!
Original presentation (narrative and cinematics), original design (game mechanics and visuals), one of the most breathtaking views of space I have ever seen, and quality humor, even if a bit crude and one-sided.
This is a real story, a real adventure and a real game!
Quirky, fun, properly 3 dimensional.
Subnautica but space and funny
I don't mind this title at all, bit of a learning curve but its pretty good, to me its like Subnautica in space with a little twist. Very surprised I did not play this sooner.
Love this game so fun and upbeat. Want a good time play this one.
the game despises itself and hates all of its own gameplay and story, so i will give it a negative review, Ironically, Ha Ha
What an outstanding piece of work this is. Thoroughly enjoy the game, it's very funny, it's well put together, love it, I really recommend it if you are looking for something different from the usual run around and kill everyone and everything style games.
bad game
edgy
boring
Just breathe lol
Super fun game. Follow some online walk throughs and get the achievements.
Very enjoyable so far!
cant wait for 2
I have a lot fun time here :)
Subnautica in space. You're gonna love it!
If you loved Subnautica, you will love this game. It is space, it is stale comedy, it is good. They self degrading jokes about adding things to prolong game play is the honesty and humor that is ever needed in gaming.
Too tedious has no respect for your time. Often the joke items are given to you as objectives so you spend a lot of time building worthless things. Just get subnautica or satisfactory.
For people reading this, the comment section spamming that the game feels like subnautica. It is not subnautica !(Don't take me wrong its a good game)
I'm already late for this comment so let me say i played this game on full price(which i mostly never do), i basically gambled my money into it, but it was worth it.
People finding it difficult to find stuff and do stuff in the game, this was one of the reasons to play and explore the vastness of the game, i didn't even know that you can consume oxygen by just using it directly but i later saw it in a video after completing the game 😅.(and yes i struggled and died many times, but i did love that challenge).
Overall the reason why i am adding this comment after such a long time, is because of the dedication the devs are putting into creating the sequel of the game. The dedication, the hard work, the constant improvement and the rare but useful updates they give the community really makes me wait for the next game eagerly.
