I LOVE THIS GAME. I play the drums mostly, but the guitar and vocals are fun too
Wanted to give this a positive review, but it seems the game hasn't been updated since around its release. It's kinda fun, but I bought it expecting the devs to actually update it.
I had a blast playing this game and so did my friends and kids. The only real issue I have with it is adding custom songs is a pain. I have a large library of Phase Shift Customs and need an easy way to import/convert them for this game.
I just trying tutorial. There are some problems there but I like the concept. I wish developers to continue fixing the bugs found in there. It could be a great game! I recommend only to those have to spend 10 bucks for a buggy but promising product and further motivate the developer. Oculus Rift version.
Very nice simulation .. definitely needs more polish but not bad at all. It would be great if the MidiTool was a complete conversion program which automatically converts your own mp3 songs without having to go through all of the extraction process which most users have no clue about thereby shutting them out from making new content. There are videos but they are not well explained. An automatic process for conversion would be MUCH better and would probably sell a lot more units of this game. I DO recommend it though .. it has great potential
UI is the worst in any game I've ever seen, controls are stupid, instruments barely function because of collision detection issues. Don't waste your money on this garbage, refunded after 15 minutes.
DEVS PLEASE READ: I am going to go ahead give this a positive review, but I have notes, stuff that needs work. As a musician and a former fan of guitar hero and rock band, this has aweomse potential in VR. Music selection right off the bat is great. Now in Tutorial you need to work on the guitar tutorial as I believe the pick is unable to be gripped. I tried exited and tried again but didn't work. However in regular part of the game worked just fine. Drums need to be reworked a little bit, first accuracy of hitting drums was a bit off. Next the beats were off on the chart when coming. they don't really match the beat that you would typically be hitting in the song. again just a half second or so off. Also on the drums, if you could incorporate the drums to be tilted a bit if the user so chooses to do. The toms being straight up aren't realistic for any drummer. I didn't get a chance to do the vocal part yet, but figure more of a karaoke style, as my mic wasn't being recognized even though windows has it set for default.
Again great idea, good game thus far, just needs to be worked on a bit and tightened up. Look forward to seeing what you guys bring to the table. :)
Hot garbage. Controls don't work, for example, tutorial says to pick up a pick for your guitar, so I do, and then it freezes in place and I can't unlock my guitar from me. The very first screen you see tells you to enter a stream key, and you can bite me. No game should force me to enter a stream key, I don't care what your mechanic is, you're a VR music game. Suck me dry, I'm not doing that. Your game has no feedback for hitting drums and your guitar controls don't work.

I can only say this game is great fun!
I play this with a Windows Mixed Reality device (Lenovo) and all thing work just fine.
There are some minor bugz, but if they are not reported at the discussion forum, the dev(s) will never now, offcourse.
Workshop is availible for this game, so many songs can be added (just need to figure out how)
Even if the game is not on sale it absolutly worth the price, grafix, animations, sound is just fine.
For the price I definitely have to recommend this game, and I'm optimistic about future updates and I think everyone should give it a try.
This game is a total blast, and it has a lot of potential. However, there are some things I'd really like to see in the future, and a few things that really hold the game back.
1. The message to input a stream code is always open and I can't do anything to close it while on the main menu. I can still use the main menu behind it but its very hard to see.
2. When one drumstick is inside a drum, the other drumstick can't strike it. This makes rolls difficult and fidgety as you have to completely remove a stick from a drum before you can hit it with your other hand.
3. Sometimes the red reticle will disappear, and I've found pressing the steam overlay button and closing it fixes this.
4. The stage was somewhat laggy for me, and I have a really beefy computer (AMD Ryzen2700X, GeForce GTX 1080ti, 16gigs ram, yaddayadda) however the garage was fine.
5. When one drumstick is inside a drum, the other drumstick can't strike it. This makes rolls difficult and fidgety as you have to completely remove a stick from a drum before you can hit it with your other hand.
6. The game gets stuck during the tutorial at the mixer part, so unfortunately if there's anything else to it then I could be missing out.
A few things I would like to see changed/added:
The drumsticks are at somewhat of a weird angle, and it does make sense the longer you play with it, but it would be nice to have an option to change the sticks orientation.
It would be really helpful to be able to adjust separate drums, maybe grouped by cymbals, toms, and snare.
The game could also benefit from some sort of turning mechanic, so players can find a position that is most comfortable for them.
It is the worst game I've ever played on vr don't waste your money on this product. If you think it's a Vr guitar hero here's the answer : NO !
The guitar part is very fun. Drum Beats VR does drums better because it works like the guitar in this game where the notes go over the instrument.
The game has a lot of promise, but the controls are super wonky. If you actually know how to play guitar and/or drums, you'll spend more time struggling with the interface than you will playing the songs. Something tells me Big Head didn't actually play the game.
On a price to entertainment value, this VR game is extremely cheap.
Yes, it has a clunky interface, but it has been improving. The devs are active, passionate, communicate well, and deserve more love than they are currently getting.
It is fun to play, has excellent drum maps, and contains some great popular songs.

This game wasn't what I expected. I saw it on a coming soon, added it to th wish list and was notified it had come out so bought it in a whim. I expected far less. The drums on this game are amazing! I'm playing it on a Windows mixed reality headset and if I'm having no issues then it's safe to say Oculus and Vive owners won't have any issues!
My only criticism is the guitar unfortunately, i haven't tried the vocals however you can't go wrong with a karaoke really, I loved he guitar and thought it was great but the neck pain I got from having to look down at the guitsr as this is where the bars show for what to play.
The drums however, greatest thing since vr. If new song packs start coming out I'd be over the moon, if they come as dlcs I'd probably still buy them. It brought back that want of getting your mates round to play rock band. If they could implement an online co op or something that would be even more incredible!

This game is something. I played about 5 songs on guitar and that was enough for me to say what I think about the game. It's insanely unpolished, the menus are actually painful to navigate through, the positioning is off, the first time I started guitar practice it took me like 5 minutes to realize I had to physically turn around and face away from my sensors in order to find the guitar pick floating in the air to actually start the song selection process, speaking of which, the responsiveness for picking the guitar is abysmal to say the least.
After saying all of that, this game represents the future of what VR rythm games are going to be, and I honestly think that with some time this game can become something great and even pave the way for some amazing titles to come. Even though this game in it's current state probably isn't worth purchasing to most people, I still think it's necessary for games like this to get funding and recognition in order to eventually create what we will hopefully have to look forward to in the future.
This vr games has the potential to be a massive hit, it's definitely on the right track, with possible bug fixes and more tracks who knows? I like this game and will dedicate more time to it.
I bought this title after reading a recent review on line. I've been wanting a FULL Rockband release for some time and this is a good start. I'm using an oculus and bought it on sale for 13.99 -- which is a good price for it right now. It's in EA and the songs are fun. However....
The mechanics and response is a bit off -- especially with the guitar. Being an old Hair-Metal guy I grew up playing some of these songs on the guitar and bass -- Poison is not that difficult to play (and that was the fun of it) but it is here. It's not that I don't have rhythm, it's because of the response of the pick and the awkwardness of the neck hand. I found that it was easier to get a sound when the guitar seemed to be two feet from my body than I did if it were slung low or against me like it would in actual-reality. I was excited for the drums as well but this too was a bit disappointing. Maybe it's me, but I couldn't adjust the drum height! I tried to play it standing up but felt like I was the drummer in The Thompson Twins (look it up, kids.) Then when I'd hit the snare it would sometimes give me a double whack when I wanted one, or give me one whack when I wanted a double. I then changed over to vocals and when I could get the mic to recognize my voice there was no scoring.
Despite what may seem like a negative review this could be a lot of fun and I'm waiting and wanting more. So buckle down devs, and do some clean up. ;)

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I actually bought this game on Early Access back on December 17, 2017 for $19.99 USD. Today, the game is finally officially released on Steam for the retail price of $9.99 with a sale price of $7.99 USD. I have to be honest, I'm actually happy the devs lowered the price so that more people buy this game. I'm not even mad I paid double the normal price now.
This is a fun game. However, you do have to overlook the warts. This game has a lot of warts. Navigation around the game menus is very clunky. That laser pointer disappears. The good news is that it's an easy fix, simply teleport and usually your laser pointer comes back. You may have to teleport twice though.
The in-game soundtrack is easily the best part of this game. It blows away all the other games in VR out of the water. There is no other game in VR that has a soundtrack half as good as this game. There's not a dud in the bunch. It goes from Modern Day Cowboy by Tesla to Hold On Loosely from .38 Special to Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy.
The drums mode is the best part of this experience. However, it's not the best drum simulation in VR. In fact, I can think of three other VR drumming games that are much better than this game just off the top of my head: Into The Rhythm, Drums Hero VR, Drummer Talent VR, and there may be others as well. I did notice some mis-hits in this game, meaning that for whatever reason, the hits did not register on the drums as they should. Which is odd because sometimes all my hits would register and then I would make the same type of motion and then it wouldn't register. Again, this doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough to be noticeable upon extended play.
Velocity doesn't seem to matter much. During the song I didn't notice any difference whether you struck hard or softly. Outside of the game, I could hear the difference but only limited to either a hard or soft strike. However, it's still a lot of fun drumming to the awesome soundtrack. As long as you don't try to cheese the drums, it works 99% of the time.
Karaoke is also fun, but it also has its share of issues. The biggest problem is the small screen for reading the lyrics of the song. I don't know why that's never been updated. There's also no crowd cheering you on so you never really get that feeling of performing in front of a crowd. There's also no points or grade or way of knowing whether you're singing well or off pitch. I won't even talk about the guitar play because it's not worth mentioning.
Despite all the issues with the game, I still recommend it. It's very easy to recommend because the current sale price of $8 is crazy for such a good soundtrack. Just think of it as silly arcade fun and enjoy rocking out. I know I am having a good time.
Rate 6.5/10. Would rate much higher if game were polished up.
Awesome experience. This has a lot of potential. I may be biased (as a musician) but even my wife loved this! It's very fun. I'd recommend that regardless of song selection the entire band is on stage with you (only appear in some songs) and some more venue and song selection. The classic rock and metal songs that are available are awesome. If you could feel some vibration when you hit the drums I think it would make it a little more immersive.
