Fight back the hordes, unlock powerful and devastating weapons. Customize your load-out and head out into the glitch for heart pounding brutal action. Destroy the world, your enemies, everything. Find the obelisk. Can you reach the HECKPOINT?
KEY FEATURES
- Cut a path through eight procedurally generated worlds, destroying the environment and every enemy in sight. Soar the skies, or engage in up-close combat. Defeat the final boss and activate the obelisk to unlock the next world, or hone your skills in Spooky World or T Day!
- 12 characters with unique personalities, weapons, and abilities
- 70+ upgrades to stats, weapons, and abilities, unlockable by collecting and trading strange matter found in-game. Hundreds of possible combinations to build in your load-out!
- Permanently upgrade stats at the Gene Works
- Destroy grenades and reflect enemy lasers with your melee attacks. Instant karma!
- Dive out of the sky with a powerful melee attack to smash ground based enemies
- A frozen world with a treacherous surface. Apocalyptic worlds that naturally rain meteors
- Elite versions of enemies with increased health and damage who drop more strange matter
- Try to fly too long above the battlefield and watch as the game punishes you for cowardice with a hailstorm of meteors
- A mini-boss and unique final boss who guards the path to the obelisk in each level
- Customize your load-out with up to 8 slots of possible combinations of the 70+ weapons, specials, or stat enhancements to tailor your approach to battle.
- Four ways to play: three challenging runs, and one endless stream of annihilation.
NORMAL - The most accessible way to practice and play. No flying enemies, no deadly glitch field, and only a handful of elites after the miniboss let you get to grips with the game. The catch? Loot isn't quite as valuable.
ENDLESS - The battle goes on forever here. There is no obelisk to reach, it is only you against the unstoppable horde. How far can you go?
ONSLAUGHT - The number of elite enemies increases. Harder foes and a midpoint mini-boss join the battle and deep in the world rests the obelisk, a strange artifact that destroys and resets the world.
WARPATH - The game pushes forward for an even more frantic battle. There is no time to stop and think. Behind you, the glitch field eats up the world. Your skills will be pushed to the limit! - An original and expanding soundtrack from Two Iron Fists

Excellent, just excelent.
But this game needs you to play and play to get better.
I love it.
Playing in full screen mode should not allow you to go off the screen with your curser if you have more than one monitor. Other then that the game is fun to play and a challenge.
BRUTAAAAAAAAAAAL
Alright, so the game is a little hard at first, but don't fret! It gets better, way better!
At first the game was unpredictably hard, but after a few tries the timing gets easier and you start really finding out what the developers had in mind for you. It's a beautiful chaos of fast paced explosions and gunfire. Very satisfying. Between the speed, timing, enemy mechanics and the bright gunplay, you end up feeling like a boss by the time you put the controller down.
Steam controller seems to work just fine too, for anyone who is curious. I recommend this game to all my friends. It's perfect for just blowing off some steam.
10/10
Only played for 35 miniute so far but this game is an old school blast, the Devs are cool guys who will listen to your idea's and obviouly it's a WiP but if your fan of retro side scollers with funky synth sounds and a good selection of wierd and wonderful characters check it out.
I shot up weed smoking aliens as a hotdog, I relished the experience 11/10 .
Heckpoint is an awsome fun time! well worth the $10. The devs are dedicated to improving and adding content to the game! They will listen and consider any feedback. Keep it up guys!!
I really enjoy this game. The art and the music are gorgeous, the gameplay is addicting af. The only thing it is missing is The Same Picture of Jon Konrath every day.
Here are some suggestions:
It's tough to aim with the controller, but I think that the balance would be skewed if you tied it directly to the stick instead of using a cursor.
Some of the characters feel a little op.
And I would love to see powerup drops. You could make them have both a positive and negative side effect. Like become invulnerable for ten seconds, but become immobile for two or three when it wears off.
I think that a differentiation basic stats could help balance and make the characters stand apart more, like to offset dracula's special you could reduce his main projectile's rate of fire. You could alter regen rates, hp, jump height, movement speed, and rate of fire.
Update 11/06/2017:
Great job devs! The game has received some much needed updates and tweaks, and is now a blast to play! https://youtu.be/SuDRTGqPRvY Excellent work, keep'em coming team!
Update 11/1/2017:
This is a second review of Heckpoint, I've been really struggling with giving this game a thumbs down as I feel there is a lot of content and promise here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3je7PebQy5E&t=1s and I don't want to scare away potential gamers that want to support the development of this title. I have been speaking with the devs and they seem very committed to polishing this "gem in the rough" till it really stands out against it's peers. I had a lot of good thgings to say about this game in my video review (above), but struggled with the oppressive difficulty that turned it into less of a tactical shooter and more of a frustrating grind. The devs have said that they are looking to fix and refine this, and for me that is enough to recommend this title in EA to aid and support the development process of these open minded individuals. Just know going in that you may feel a bit daunted by the current slope of the learning curve/difficulty. Enjoy and game on everyone!
Original Review:
Take Risk of Rain and mix it with equal parts Broforce and you have Heckpoint... kinda mostly anyway. The game has a lot to offer but really needs some refinement while in the early access period. Thankfully the core gameplay seems promising. (video version if that's your preferred format for reviews) https://youtu.be/3je7PebQy5E The game has a lot of upgrades that are available for purchase and lots of unique characters to choose from each with there own loadout. In addition, there are 7 stages to play in with there own unique themes. All this is great, but i have two main issues with the game thus far. One is that there needs to be a normal stage mode, not just the current 3 that all force modifers. Second is that there needs to be a difficulty modifier that changes enemy encounter rates and proportionately how much currency can be earned. Sadly I can't quite recommend the game just yet till these two issues are adjusted as the game is a bit to much of an exercise in frustration right now. I look forward to seeing how this game progress through early access as I think there is a real gem here just waiting for refinement.
Sargent Graves is the best Toon, Ihit 9500 points in the first try with him. This game is wicked!
Great graphics! Fun gameplay. Loving all of the level and character designs. Very excited to play along as the game evolves.
