Super Star Panda

this game is really simple and a easy concept to grasp but still challenging to get a hold of. loved the game until i hit the level 6 bug and i cannot make any more progress.

to anyone who received a coupon for this game and achievement hunts, i dont recommend this game :/

edit: resetting my data didnt fix it and i now have the bug on level 1 with the first character.

Me and my nephew play this game and we liked it. Besides, this panda (and others animals) is cute and fun :)

being a flying panda has never been so challenging before.

This game reminds me of my childhood! Retro-styled graphics are eye-friendly, it does not strain your eyes, and characters in the game are well thought out- my favourite ones are panda and cat :D The gameplay is varied so sometimes the points may be gained easily while the other time, breaking new records requires some considerable skills. The longer you practice a certain level the better you become at it, eventually improving your results and beating ever never records. However, I definitely prefer using the keyboard! It would be an advantage if this game would also have more information about the opponents, and of course if it would include the ranking of all the players in which I could boast and share all the points raised by me throughout the game :P

When I'm playing in this game, I can feel like child again. It was the best time, time when I played my first games on pegasus etc. What can I say? I love this game <3

Summary:
I recommended my friends to buy it!

Fun, casual game with animals floating in outer space.
It mellowed me out after work. Well, I mean at the beginning, because it's getting pretty challenging after a while :D.
The style reminds me a lot of good old retro flash games, and the music fits quite well.
There is a fine option to play with the keyboard, and also a secret second option to play with the mouse, that is freakin impossible hardcore.
Love to see more from the dev!

The price is good, so go ahead and buy it!

A quality small game with good controls. When you die, you do not feel like it's the game at fault. Nice unlockable character selection. 20 levels to play on. Devs seem nice and willing to chat with players about development and progression. A nice little pickup for the cheap price.

Super Star Panda is the first game of Buk Games on Steam.

* What to expect?

It's a retro experience, like 80s / 90s arcade games on the big machines. They should really deliver a big red joystick with it, LOL! First impression: It reminds me a bit of "Asteroids" on the ATARI consoles that time.

* Graphics:

Yep, typical 80s / 90s graphics. Minimalistic, but functional. Retro-style, fits the game. Playfield could be a bit bigger though, lower third is for score only.

* Sound:

I like the soundtrack, it revives the retro-feeling.

* Controls:

A bit unusual at first, expected Asteroids-like control, but works for this game.

* Gameplay:

Harder than expected. Levels are simply-made but are a challenge anyway. Died a lot from rockets, spaceships, etc. For adults this is already a challenge, had no kid to hand to test it for kids here xD

* Power-Ups:

I love them. Would wish me even some more. My favorite is the shield and I like how it is visually displayed.

* Characters:

Very cute. Whether you love cats or pandas, you can have them all! :)

* Devs:

Are active and react to feedback, the way it should be.

* Suggested improvements:

Short ingame tutorial, found the "help" button in main menu long time after I startet playing.

For 0,99 € or currently reduced 0,79 € this is a no-brainer if you are into this type of games and want to relive the old arcarde times. I found no bugs during play so far, which is great for that type of publisher / game, so the source code seems to be rock solid.

Super Star Panda is one of those little gems, hidden in vast and wide Steam. It has a very unique and nostalgic 'vibe' of video games from my youth. You know, Amiga 500, NES, Gameboy and others. It's simple, but not easy.

You can play it for 5 or 50 minutes and you'll always get a dose of fun. Its not something that'll make you skip the night, but it will make you keep coming every now and then. Kinda like Bejeweled, Zuma or Desktop Dungeons.

I initially bought this for my 7yo son (there are virtually NO video games on Steam, for his age range) but I ended up playing the game myself lol. And for one buck this really is no-brainer.
