Cute little story. Quick, but still nice to experience.
Nice Game :)
The game is still broken. You get hard locked out very early on.
I really enjoyed this game in 2021 but sadly it has acquired some kind of freeze bug since then that kicks in between day 2 and 3 and subsequently stops the game from even loading at all. Wiping save data allows me to play again but only up to the same point, where it freezes again and fails to load. Not sure if everyone gets this bug but quite a few people have reported it in the forums here and elsewhere.
Most unfortunate as this was a wonderful game but is unplayable now.
cute narrative driven, light puzzle game. AMAZING voice acting. Brillant!
I love Rumu
Rumu is a delightful concept; you play as a sentient Roomba, who loves and cleans up messes. I think the overall story of the game is interesting, and the design of the game is pretty. However, I felt like there were a glaring number of small issues, that I personally don't feel I can give a recommendation to the game.
The most frustrating for me was the fact that a number of the achievements were buggy or just plain broken. The game apparently hasn't had an update since 2018 (According to steam patch notes), and despite some promised bug fixes in the steam discussions, it appears those fixes haven't happened. It's really frustrating that not only are those achievements bugged, but that they haven't been fixed in so long.
In addition, I felt like there were lots of small glitches, like quests not checking off, or reappearing after they'd been completed.
The story of the game itself is still intact, and I think that while it can be bit of a slow story, the game itself is short, and I can appreciate the emotional impact of it.
So if you don't mind a few bugs, and you're not an achievement hunter, the game may still be worth a look for you, but I personally came away feeling disappointed.
A short, beautiful game, that clearly takes inspiration from Asimov (among other science fiction classics, quite literally quoted in-game), on the natural of artificial intelligence, what morals and emotions we may give or ascribe to them, and the potential ramifications of doing so. I'll never look at my Robo-vacuum, Daphne, in the same way ever again.
Occasionally the interactions were clunky, but overall it was smooth and relaxing. I would definitely recommend, if you grab it on a sale , like I did.
This is REALLY hard to recommend, honestly.
The good outweighs the bad if you get it on sale.
I haven't gone that far, but it has some serious problems.
Controller inputs aren't well designed, and don't even work for the main menu.
Even though it says "save and quit", it actually makes you redo the whole chapter if you do that and relaunch the game.
One of the few puzzles completely broke at the skateboard, becoming impossible to finish, as restarting the room doesn't actually restart the room, let alone undo the bug. So you have to restart the WHOLE CHAPTER.
You can't skip any of the cutscenes or dialogue.
The narrative itself is also severely lacking subtly, though that might hopefully change as I play more.
The only thing keeping me going is the cute moments, lovely art direction and music, and unique gameplay design.
I love the idea of Rumu, unfortunately the game crashed shortly after I got started and every time I tried to launch it after that it was just a black screen with pleasant music. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the game, restarting my computer, deleting all files from my computer, etc. but nothing worked. It looks like this has been a problem since at least 2021.
This game made me want to get a Roomba and put googly eyes on it. Sadly, my house is unfit for a Roomba at this moment, but once I move elsewhere, Rumu is coming.
Fun game, great story. Less enthusiastic about the OST, but that's fine because by the end, you'll love Rumu, I'm sure.
