It's not the full game. You zip through the story at a pace that robs it of its decency. It made me log into not just steam but Rockstar and Meta, too. Unacceptable. Steam, steam link, boom. It should be no other way.
Clearly a very early VR game.
None of the controls that have become accepted as standard are available in this game. Y'know, things like MOVING YOUR CHARACTER WITH THE LEFT THUMBSTICK.
The facial capture technology they used for the actors looked great when it first came out in 2011. Close-up in 4k on a VR headset, they look like characters from Forbidden Siren. Refunding for scummy business practices and being a bad game.
Works great, quite funny to play working out how to drive etc. bit short but isn't very expensive so not to worry. Just use the CD key with the Rockstar authenticator which is on the properties section of your Steam library after installing. Wish they would have used this engine to give us a VR RDR1 or 2.
I bought the game and the only issue I had was steam not telling me the activation code for the rockstar launcher.
Right click on the game and click manage and then click on CD Keys and copy the code for when the rockstar launcher asks for it and it should work.
I have had no other issues. The game is great so far!
Unfortunately this game suffers from bad reviews because of the CD key authentication. But this is issue has now been fixed, and I feel like I must write a review to give this game justice.
Firstly, when the CD key is prompted, go to you library and right click on the game > Manage > CD Keys.
Copy/paste it in the Rockstar launcher and you're done.
Now for the review, I've had played LA Noire before as non VR, and I must say the gameplay fits perfectly for VR.
The dev team made an amazing job porting this game in VR. Actions like looking at the clues, using the note book (you can even draw on it), interrogations, driving a car (admittedly not the best physic here), shooting... it's all fun and very well made for VR.
I also love how they have represented the arms and body of the character (usually you just get disconnected hands and that throws off the immersion). The movements of the body reacts well to your own. I also like how you have to reach in your pockets to get stuff like notebook or flashlight.
This game is a very unique VR experience that no other offers you. You feel the ambience of the 1940s, and it's pure joy to experience.
I got it on sale, totally worth the money.
I hope more people can give it another chance now that it's fixed, and can enjoy a really fun VR experience.
Rockstar lancher is broken
All around a solid game. It is very cool to be able to explore 1940's LA in VR. The game really shows what an Open World VR game can be. I was a little worried the driving would be nightmare, but I had no issues with motion sickness and found it pretty easy to master. I hope Rockstar keeps expanding into VR. The VR case files do not include all of the cases from the flatscreen version, but I don't see any reason for not porting over this additional content. I think this game proves other Rockstar titles like RDR and GTA could 100% be ported to VR and be the most epic VR games out there! Please keep working on VR Rockstar!

You literally can't open the game anymore because rockstar fucked it up with their launcher. It was a good game too. I doubt they'll fix it any time soon. Only way to play it is through pirating. Do with that information as you wish.

Game was great to play in VR. But as of now, you cannot launch it whatsoever because Rockstar’s shitty launcher now asks you for an activation code (your games CD key) which upon typing it in will just say that the code is already in use and there seems to be no way of getting around it. So right now, you’re basically paying for a digital equivalent of a door stop. Rockstar, fix your shit.
This game is broken! DO NOT BUY!!! You will not be able to launch it no matter how hard you try to find a workaround. The issue is to do with Rockstar so all of your efforts to get it working are futile. I had the game working a year or so ago when I last played it but now when you launch the game from Steam or the Rockstar Launcher you are prompted by the Rockstar launcher to enter your CD Key which will then tell you it is already in use. I have LA NOIRE VR Case Files already in my Rockstar library so why it needs a key, I have no idea. This store page absolutely needs to be taken down as the game is 100% impossible to launch and is essentially a scam.

I'm an idiot and bought this game after reading a few reviews saying it was unplayable, they're not lying, there is absolutely no way to play the game until this issue gets addressed. It's been months and Rockstar hasn't done anything, I'm completely done with this company. For anyone reading this that hasn't bought the game YOU CAN'T GET A REFUND like normal Steam games. the game itself is good, however rockstar never truly fixed the activation code bug. i put the cd key in but was still unable to play the game
I had a blast playing this game ages ago but had to stop due to issues with my headset and exams. I have tried to get back into it and have faced the widespread issue of Rockstar's dogshit DRM and am not unable to play the game I paid $35 dollars for, or even get a refund. Do not get this game until the DRM gets fixed, and maybe then think twice, as this is apparently the second time DRM has shat itself for this game.
This game used to be really fun and probably one of the best VR games.
The problem is that a few months ago Rock* broke the launcher for this game making it unplayable or should I say unlaunchable for anyone that owns it.

As many people have already discussed in the reviews the steam version of this game will not open. The Rockstar Game launcher loads and asks you for an Activation Code - which you won't have. Check the Discussion forums of this game, nobody can play this game at the moment.

The game forces you to use Rockstar Launcher with no work around and after giving the CD Key to the rockstar launcher It will then ask you for the CD Key you JUST gave it 10 seconds before and then it will tell you its already in use if you put the CD Key in again. Do not fall into this trap. Rockstar games sucks at preserving its games.

It took my key seemed like everything was great but it never launched. I load the Rockstar app and it's in my collection but when I try to launch it asks for the CD Key again, and now it says it is already claimed... to my account. It still won't launch.

The game no longer works as their game launcher refuses access to it. Despite multiple people reporting it, Rockstar refuse to do anything so no one can play this anymore. Disgusting behaviour.

You cannot launch the game as the rockstar launcher needs an activation code. If you try and use your Steam key, it will say it's in use. The Rockstar support have been nothing short of useless so avoid buying this.
Avoid this game at all costs. I owned this game before they made the rockstar launcher mandatory. Now my title is no longer recognized on their launcher and claims its already "Activated". If you value your money dont purchase this until you see that its absolutely fixed.
Last minute update: Report the title on the store page so it can be removed from steam. Scroll down the store page and press the Flag button and report it for not working properly.

This game does not work with the rockstar launcher but it requires that you use the rockstar launcher. When I tried to activate the key that they mandate I use it wouldn't authenticate. Per Steam support I contacted rockstar. I submitted a ticket in July asking for support. They gave me the run around for 3 months before finally saying they just aren't going to fix it. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
The game is unplayable. It asks you for a CD key, and when you enter the CD key it says it has already been redeemed. Rockstar is lazy and has become a terrible game company. The onlyt reason i have 4.6 hours of play time is because it stayed open in the background after i had already given up trying to fix the CD key DRM issue. Steam should delist this game and give everyone a refund.

I’ve logged a support ticket august the 11th 2024 and whilst they say it’s being investigated no timeframe given so I expect they’re never going to fix this issue of the key being already in use…..
This is a great game that fell victim to a terrible company. Even though I purchased the game legally and have a valid CD key there is an issue with the DRM software Rockstar forces you to download that makes the game incapable of launching. They have ruined this game with a broken DRM system and robbed their customers that paid for their software and offer no support.
Sounds like I'm having a very common issue. I just bought the game, activated the CD code and now it's saying it's already being used by my account. I cannot play the game. I'd love it to be fixed or issued a refund at this point!

Steam should shut this page down, as it literally is on par with a scam at the current moment. Willingly taking your money for a useless cd key you cannot play the game with at all. For four months....without acknowledging the issue at all....
Steam is saying that I've played 2.6H. In reality I HAVE played 0 HOURS SINCE I'VE BOUGHT IT. Never gonna buy another Rockstar game. I've bought it on 20 Apr 2024. Since then I never been able to play because of the stupid rockstar launcher and key already used message. Even an EA game is not this broken telling you that your license is wrong. Rockstar launcher must be removed. WHY is this even legal. EU should do something about this. Buying a game on steam then Rockstar Launcher saying you don't own the game.
Like many others, saddened to find that the launch key required by Rockstar is broken and I cant get the game top start. I plan to ask for a refund. Rockstar needs to make it so customers can play the game they purchased.
