The controls are really bad, the camera moves so that you can't really move without getting headaches.
It's a bad mobile port. Don't buy this game.
Don't bother with this game. Controls feel clunky. Collecting the last gem stops you for a little while but not your surroundings so you die when you are near something that moves.
Linux version straight up does not start.
The game: I love this game, it's decently challenging, rewarding with a simple set of achievements, cute sprites and good sound. I genuinely don't understand how you can not get your money's worth out of a game this good, at this low of a price. It's awesome.. however,
Compatibility: The game opens up upside down with no way of adjusting the rotation.
On handheld devices it's unplayable however it could very easily be fixed with only an hour's work from the developers. I hope care is shown and this fix will eventually be applied, even though the game is quite old now. Other than this issue, I love this title.
I'm not sure why so many people hate this game, but I think people might forget to take the price into consideration.
This isn't the most fine-tuned and creative game out there. I personally picked it up for under a euro and I had a good time with the short and straightforward level designs. This is a timing/precision platformer and not much else - Take your time and learn the patterns of the obstacles or take a leap of faith while hoping for the best.
Buy this if you want a casual short game with a cute character, but keep the pricetag in mind and don't expect too much.
This is, unfortunately, a waste of time, with the lack of a basic exit button (use ALT+F4) and overly simplified game-play & mechanics. Invisible walls where you think you can jump, trolly collection of in-game currency, no basic momentum-based movement as with Mario - the game falls short with any sort of surprise or nicety. This is a flash game that is not worth purchasing.
Avoid this and pick up Magical Monster Land instead.
Takes me back to the good old mega drive days, great game playing with the controller helps but can feel clumsy at times.
This game is not bad by any means, it's completely playable and has some charm in places, not to mention I love foxes.
It's just....generic for the most part. I've seen this kind of platformer a million times before and there's nothing that makes this one stand out among the crowd.
There are 3 key issues that stop me from recommending it though:
1) It's a very lazy mobile port, meaning there are a lot of references to touch controls and there is a noticeable lack of a quit button on the main menu (I ended up having to force close it).
2) The collision detection needs a bit more work. Sometimes I could not grab onto ladders unless I jumped at it at the perfect angle. Enemy hit boxes are a bit hit and miss as well.
3) There are a lot of blind leaps of faith that you need to do in order to progress, most of which will cause you to land awkwardly onto an enemy or a spike pit. It's very cheap, especially considering that you get almost no invincibility frames after taking damage.
This game is wonderful and underrated
Reading some of the other critical reviews i wasn't expecting much from this game but i'm glad i was proved wrong. Personally i experienced no input lag whatsoever and the controls felt responsive and precise. It feels great controlling your character which is important for a platformer.
The game looks visually stunning, the audio is upbeat but simple which i think works well enough for this game. The levels are mostly enjoyable, with the exception of a few which involves leaps of faith into the unknown. You need to collect all the gems to open up the gate to complete the level and you collect cherries in order to get a rating (scale from 1-3 stars). If you get hit you drop your cherries which you have a short time to recover but your health doesn't affect the rating. Personally I found this aspect challenging yet forgiving and managed to 3 star each level, which was a challenge for some but an enjoyable and welcoming one.
The enemies are animated wonderfully and i enjoyed the final boss battle quite a bit. I would strongly recommend this game to everyone interested. A true gem.
A bird of prey grabbed your love and flew away sh*tting diamonds along the way! Now for some reason you have to collect those diamonds and pass numerous levels to rescue her! So that's the story.
Shovelware made from $5 asset pack available on the net. One background / zone type, 35 levels, 3 types of enemies. There's nothing unique or noteworthy about this game. It's pretty bugged and not particularly fun to play.
I got it for like half of a dollar and still it was a steep price considering what the game has to offer. If you're bored out of your mind, you might give it a try, it's not horrible, just totally forgettable.
Beautiful pixel graphics wasted on a game with no real story, purpose, or sense of achievement. Some kind of difficult platformer that requires extreme precision while giving you bad control over your hero. Plus the steam achievements require you to complete each level with full health. It's ridiculous!
I tried very hard to find reasons to continue playing this game. But I just couldn't come up with any.
It was a bit laggy, but that's my laptop's fault. But other than that, the difficulty seems to spike up a fair bit within the first 5 levels. Sometimes when I jump on the frogs, it doesn't register as a hit against the enemy, but rather against me.
Control-wise, I can't say I've had a lot of problems, except for some unresponsive controls because of the lag, so I can't blame the game on that one. But when the controls work, I'd say their pretty decent. I mean, I did use a controller.
Overall, I found this game to be pretty generic and boring pretty quickly. The only thing I really like is... well, let's just say foxes are my favorite animal.

Game #2: FoxyLand
This is some solid shovelware here. Game engine and graphic assets seem to have been purchased wholesale from an assets store with little to no modification. The game is extremely short, about 1-2 hours long, and that includes some half-finished bonus content that was tacked on to the end. There's only one in-game music track for most of the levels: some boring, unfitting classic rock-sounding chiptune.
As for the gameplay, it's not the worst I've seen. The object of each level is to collect a bunch of diamonds and reach the exit. If you collect a quota of cherries and don't take any damage, you'll 3-star the level, which is required for 100% achievements (at least up until level 27; they didn't seem to bother adding achievements for the rest of the levels). You can goomba-stomp enemies to get them out of the way and maybe earn some extra cherries, but they respawn in seconds. Sometimes you'll need to hit switches, dodge smashers and arrow traps, and backtrack. Sometimes you can hide behind grass to evade enemies, which is pretty cool.
Physics seem solid enough, but movement is a bit too fast to judge jumps precisely, and the sloshy camera movements don't help with precision either. Switches work by collision and it's way too easy to flip a switch twice. Sometimes you fall so fast that you pass through collectible items. The physics also seem to struggle with determining what happens when you jump on two enemies at once, killing one of them but allowing the other to immediately kill you.
All that being said, it did feel pretty satisfying to beat some of the harder levels. But having gotten all the achievements, I don't think I'll play any farther.
I'll give the game a 4.5 / 10. I recommend it to achievement hunters who want a quick and easy 100% game (that is, something other than an achievement spam game). If you're any good at platformers, you'll have no trouble getting used to the stupidly twitchy controls and dizzying camera movements, and It'll be over in about an hour.
This game looks great in theory, but i don't think the devs ever playtested it — it has some asinine bugs & inconveniences that anyone who actually played it themselves would've immediately picked up on & corrected/improved, including:
-enemy hitboxes being functionally random; about 67% of the time, mario stomping them works, & 33% o/t time you get damaged instead
-controls locked to WSAD; i'm left-handed so it didn't bother me but they really should be remappable
-audio that's incredibly loud at game start, & CAN'T BE ADJUSTED, only muted (which also mutes all ingame sounds)
-ridiculously unwieldy vine & ladder mechanics that force you to grab on if passed by while airborne (annoying) & seemingly randomly make you jump off instead of climb up when pressing up (unacceptably bad)
Overall frustrating experience. The seeds of a good game, a nice quick yet difficult platformer, are here but it feels like the absolute minimum amount of effort was put in by the devs. At least it's easy (if infuriating as hell) to 100% the achievements.
My former review on this game was that it has bad controls. I decided to try it again nearly 6 years after my initial review and I still can say this game's bad. I tried it both on gamepad and keyboard, and in both cases the movement was no good. You move too fast while there are levels with tiny corridors with walls covered in spikes, so you have literally to press a key/button for 0.1 second in order to progress. The keyboard controls are WASD which is a bad solution for a platformer game, and no, it doesn't let you use arrow keys along with WASD. Some of the menu buttons can't be pressed neither via keyboard nor gamepad, requiring you to use mouse to click a damn button.
Now, aside from the controls, this game has a repetitive soundtrack, which is basically one song. The levels are not so good, they are too easy and all the hardness is achieved by broken movement. Most of them can even be finished by holding the D key and pressing Space occasionally. There's a small amount of time of invincibility once you get hit, and because of a stupid automatic jump your character does once he receives any damage, you're likely to lose more than one health point. And speaking of the health points, you have three, but also you collect berries, and once you get hit, you lose berries, just like rings in Sonic. But here's 0 sense in collecting them back because they don't play any role and your health is calculated regardless of them. What's even the point of this mechanic?
This game gets my honest rating of 4/10. Thanks for reading.
FoxyLand is a fun platformer. But is a little difficult. I feel like the gameplay should be made a little smoother, but defiently worth the money.
the goods:
✔ nice graphic
✔ cute audio (although a bit repetitive imo)
✔ simple gameplay
the bads:
✖ the character control are weird
✖ weird big pointer on screen which I have no idea what for (all controls are using keyboard, except for when you are on the menu)
✖ sometimes game won't let me click on any button after I died (the exit, restart, or skip menu that pop up after you died), this happens like 3 times in less than 30 mins :(
other things which I'm not sure if it's bad or good:
。。。it feels like everything is happening so fast
。。。too hardcore, like the task looks simple but kinda hard to achieve
。。。pretty hard to get a 3 star on each stage (for me it's even good enough if you can actually pass the levels later on)
haven't played much into the game but ~30 mins is more than enough for me
3/10
+ Cute graphics and animations
- Badly optimized for PC as this is a Smartphone port, the resource and storage requirements are surprisingly high
- inconsistent in when to use the mouse for menus and when not
- The fox moves way too quick, making some levels way harder than necessary
- All 27 levels use the same quite small tileset, rendering the game very monotonous
There are way better similar games available on steam for similar prices.
Not a very good platformer, the visuals are certainly nice but The problem is that Foxy Moves way too fast for the type of platforming required in this game, This leads to the feeling of being cheated, if Foxy were to slowly build up speed, or have a run button than this would be forgiven but he doesn't. This honestly stopped me from playing it. IMHO This game could easily be good if foxy didnt move so damn quick.
Game is harder than you think
it have pretty nice graphic and it can go on toaster (belive me)
I prefer it to everyone who love to tryhard and play the same lavels over and over to get best score
You asked for ratings for the game. Here you go. Its shovelware that uses free art found on the web. Its a short game, what you see in the trailer is what you get. There are no other environments. Did you mess up publisher and developer? Game page says its developed by BUG and published by Ora, but in game it says its developed by Ora.
Its setup like a mobile game. You're rewarded for coming back day after day. You can pay cherries to bypass levels. The levels get stupid with frogs and spikes. The levels are tiny collectathons. Get the gems to unlock the exit.
Real problems I have with the game are jump of faiths. There's too many of them and I'll fall below the camera. The camera is too fast. Look down it shoots down, turn right, it shoots right, turn left, it shoots left. Having to push W on the keyboard is annoying. Sometimes I can land on an enemy to kill them other times they hurt me. The same enemy. Enemies jump out from behind trees. This leads to enemies hitting me.
If you have to buy this game its $1 cheaper on Microsoft's store and free on Android with ads. It will just be in a bundle like all the others from the developer. How long until this game is kicked off Steam like your others?
