Are you safe? Are you clean? Are you normal?
If the answer's yes... you probably don't live here. A bride, cloned by a slug monster on her big day. A robot on the run from a "Spork Jogger". Two print and trophy shop owners addicted to LARPing. A celebrity chef with underpants that hold a terrible, terrible secret. A reclusive tyrannical business leader forcing everyone to sing...
Must be Thursday.
Yeah but what is it exactly?
Yorkshire Gubbins is a collection of short, fully voiced point and click comedy adventures good for new, casual and experienced adventure game players. One of the episodes is a musical. Yeah that's right. You heard me right. An actual musical.Key Features

- Top notch British humour
- Very fancy dynamic music system
- Classic easter-egg filled "SCUMM" style verb interface.
Current Episode List
- Verb School - Is it a tutorial or is it a baby judging competition?! Who knows!
- Holy Molluscamony - A bride has been cloned, and only you can save her wedding. Or not.
- Humble Pie - The Quest For Special Meat.
- Aye Fair Lady - It's Mandatory Singing Day which means one thing: This is a musical.

I know it's a small gripe.. I mean, the game is fine, I guess. Fun enough and cutely made in an attempted old 80s style. But the bobbing. THE BOBBING!! Why do all the characters bob up and down ALL THE TIME all AT THE SAME TIME.
For me personally it makes the game unplayable as it distracts me too much and drives me completely bonkers. Big no for me even though I payed for it. Sigh.
A hilarious, intensely northern adventure game. All four stories within are perfectly written and the puzzles themselves are pretty good too.
Hilarious, truly. A game about an accent, and I want more.
The North of England is the part of England where one is most likely to encounter actual humans. Yorkshire Gubbins turns this well-known scientific fact on its head by introducing the elements of human-cloning slug monsters and sort-of-humanoid robots to Yorkshire! Charming, dialect-laden wackiness ensues, perfect for times when Frog Detective is too much of a time commitment.
Buy this game soon, as the developer needs encouragement!
I ruined my best friend's wedding, learned how to use verbs, baked a pie and sang with robots. And then I started playing Yorkshire Gubbins!
Anyway, Yorkshire Gubbins is an exceptional point and click adventure game in a sense that it rewards you with actually funny jokes. It is charming, well-written, and the puzzles are fun too. Although, the puzzles could have been more difficult. The only bad thing is that there is not enough of it. Worth the full price of measly 5€. 5/5
Short, breezy little episodes, but utterly charming.
EDIT: now that I've played through it a second time to just find all the various options and dialogues...just want to reiterate how bloody delightful it is. Also, amazing voice work (and singing).
I loved playing this game so much. It is made up of short episodes, but that means the humour is sustained and doesn't get stale. I've lived in Yorkshire the last 18 years and bought it for my wife (who is from Leeds and instantly laughed when she opened the menu).
Yorkshire! Yorkshire! Yorkshire!
Nice puzzles, some funny writing (and some misses), and a great aesthetic. The lighting effects particularly elevate it above many other pixel-art adventure games. Worth a go!
Extraordinary. Probably the funniest point and click adventure since monkey island 2.
There are some issues - you cannot skip most dialogue and the graphics don't scale all that well - but those hardly matter.
It is very short (2 hours) but it is also very cheap.
Funny P&C games are very hit-or-miss to me, but the humour in Yorkshire Gubbins was right up my alley. Puzzles are simple but logical, characters and dialogue are funny and engaging, great voice acting by everyone, art is nice. Any nitpicks I have seem minor since I enjoyed the majority of the game so much. Charlotte Gore hit this out of the park. I bought it on sale but I would pay full price for this and I am a massive cheapskate with P&C games.
Really nice little game. I wish I had seen that it was a dead project before I purchased. Even with such a cheap price it's not worth it.
The Good:
+ Genuinely funny throughout (though tutorial was the best part)
+ Good voice work
+ Lip-sync is very well done, something I never thought I'd say for a pixel art game.
The Bad:
- Some actions need to be done in a specific order when they should work in another.
- Technical issue where instances of the game may be left running after closing, and can't be started again until they're force-closed.
Final thoughts:
I loved the games non-stop barrage of sarcastic humor, and found the characters to be very likable with highly distinct and refreshing personalities. The games a bit short, with a limited number of 'episodes', but I'd say what's already there is enough to make it worth the price of admission.
Side note: Make sure to read the store description to find out what order you should play the episodes in, it's not completely clear in-game.

Best four quid I ever spent.
...On a retro-style adventure game.
From Yorkshire.
This week.
All joking aside, it's a great funny little title for those who play point-and-click adventure games for the humour. Considering it's half the price of a cinema ticket for twice the laughs, it's good value too.
[Disclaimer: As a Yorkie myself, I'm probably going to be biased]
The setting and the usage of Yorkshire, for what it has to offer, is criminally underrepresented in the realm of gaming. Yorkshire Gubbins takes advantage of this and provides a great example of Yorkish culture and humour with it's clever dialogue, ludicrous plot and overall fun in the setting of a small town in semi-rural Yorkshire like Ilkley, Roundhay or Halifax.
Content-wise, as of now, Yorkshire Gubbins will probably get you around 2-3 hours* of playtime if you know what you're doing. Gubbins currently consists of a 30 minute tutorial and two multiple-hour long short stories.
(*ty for the correction)
Honestly, pick it up. It's £3.99. There are places in England where that's the price of water (Looking at you, Westminster.) If you're that damn stingy then go pick it up when it's on sale; make sure to remember to pick it up though.
I've lived in Yorkshire for several years & this is one of the most accurate simulations I've ever seen of Yorkshire life. From the correct use of ginnels & love of pies, to the suspicious robots and secret society of slug people, everything is just as I might see it outside my window.
Really great point-and-click that's genuinely enjoyable & entertaining. One of the few games where I found myself laughing out loud from the tutorial onwards.

I love point and click games, and thoroughly enjoyed Holy Molluscamony when it was released after Adventure Jam. Naturally I was excited when I heard it was being expanded into a set of short adventures in the same universe!
I started with the verb school. It feels like a great intoduction to point and click games, but also is a fantastic introduction to the look and feel of the game, as well as the humor.
I then moved on to playing the updated version of Holy Molluscamony. 5 months after originally playing it, I can say I enjoyed it just as much. The voices have been updated too, which is a nice touch.
I then moved on to Humble Pie. Solid humor, not too difficult, but fabulously executed. Really enjoyed playing it!
Throughout the games, it's a chunky pixel art style (that I love) that still gets across what the items are. The dialog is well written and is funny, with great references to other things in nerd culture as well as being self referential.
I would 100% recommend this, especially at the asking price. It's well worth it.
A solid, funny, little point and click adventure game.
The sense of humour is right up my alley (or ginnel, as the case may be), and it's definitely worth the price of admission.
While Yorkshire Gubbins certainly isn't as, ah, reflective on the morality of genre norms as Undertale (you do some reasonably terrible things, in traditional adventure game fashion), the humour is broadly similar if you were a fan of that. It's a bit more British though.
It also isn't too hard, and certainly if you're someone who's offended at the notion of games not lasting for 100 hours this might not necessarily be for you, but for less than the price of a cinema ticket it's definitely worth it for what's in the game right now, and I can't see that changing when subsequent episodes come out (even if the price goes up a bit*).
* It'll actually also probably still be less than a cinema ticket. Cinema tickets are *really* expensive, having just looked up what cinemas actually charge nowadays. The non-sale price (£4 as of writing) of Yorkshire Gubbins could double and still be cheaper than buying a ticket from Odeon (£9.75 for an adult, not including booking fee if you're getting it online, also as of writing). In Standard seating. And I'd bet you still have to watch adverts... But yeah, good value, good game, buy it, *thumbs up emoji*.
Charming, funny, and highly polished little gem. Recommended to any fan of point and click adventures! Great voice acting, and the funniest credits I've seen!
As a Yorkshireman born and bred, I can confirm to Lancastrians and other foreigners that Yorkshire Gubbins is indeed an accurate Yorkshire Simulator, taking in our green and pleasant land with parks, terrace houses, ginnels, and of course Yorkshire's famous robotics industry.
This important piece of media also brings to the front the plight of our slugkin population, so often overlooked owing to their tendency to clone people and/or the masses of slime they exude. Sticky, gluey slime.
In all seriousness, though: Yorkshire Gubbins is a fantastic romp for any fan of classic comedy-driven point 'n' click adventures, and thanks to the Verb School tutorial - entirely optional, but definitely recommended even if you know what you're doing - can act as a great introduction to the genre. The graphics are vintage with a modern twist thanks to the SteggyVision filter, and you can even fluidly resize the window - great for sneaking in a quick bit of Yorkshire at work, but you didn't hear that from me.
While it's admittedly a short adventure, it's a fun one - and with the promise of more to come in the future I'm confident my sub-£5 investment will prove wise.
Huzzah for Yorkshire| Huzzah for Slugkin| Huzzah for Yorkshire Gubbins!
If you love classic point-and-click adventures with puzzles that aren't too hard, this game is for you. If you love Yorkshire based humour, even better. The usual rules apply, look at everything, talk to everyone and you'll finish the game in just over an hour or so, more if you want to find all achievements. The user interface from Holy Molluscamony (the first game of the series published independently and included as prequel in this game) has been improved and you can right-click for default actions like going through doors. You don't need to play the tutorial to learn how it works but it's worth playing for the wonderful voice acting and the somewhat left-field humour.
It leaves you wanting more but the good news is that more is to come in the next episode in the hopefully not too far future.
A great point and click adventure game with a bunch of English wit to it -- great voice acting, great writing, and great artwork. Definitely a good play if you enjoy this sort of game -- even if you don't, it's pretty funny!
The tutorial isn't needed if you've ever played something like Maniac Mansion or Monkey Island, but I recommend doing it anyway; there's a few laughs to be had. Total play time of the tutorial, episode 1, and the bonus episode was just under 2 hours.

Now then - if tha lahks t'Yorksher accent, 'appen tha might try this reet grand title, all aboot a pie competition or summat. Ah've not finished but so far ah'm gobsmacked by the EGA graphics, champion soundblaster din and authentic dialect. Also good for incomers like missen. Not much brass neither.
I played through the tutorial of this and was giggling a lot.
Then I got into the real game and kept having to stop because I was laughing so much.
I don't know how replayable it will be once you know all the jokes, but at this price, it's fine as a complete throwaway one-shot.
Also, it's proper funny.
