verry short game but i m on my second playthrough soo i cant say its bad
The developers need to come back to this and simply re-write the blurb to say this is an idle game and the idle crowd would love it.
It's a fairly short one, granted. But I think that is reflected well in the price.
It's perfect for people like me that want to tinker with something simple and easy while drinking their morning coffee.
The Islander – Where Farming Meets Island Chic 🌴🌺
Ever wanted to escape to a tropical paradise where you can plant crops, raise animals, and build the ultimate island retreat without the threat of crashing waves or stingy hotel bills? Welcome to The Islander, where the only thing you need to worry about is how many palm trees you can fit on your picture-perfect plot of land. 🏝️🌾
This game is like the love child of Farmville and a beach resort, and trust me, it’s a match made in heaven. You’ll plant everything from crops to trees (and even bushes, because why not), while also constructing livestock pens that would make even the most seasoned farmer jealous. But here’s the twist: it’s not just about farming—The Islander encourages you to decorate your island with the classiest palm fronds and tiki torches you can find. 🐑🌿✨
The pace is fast, which means you’re constantly hustling to make your island look fabulous, but it’s the kind of hustle where you end up feeling more like a laid-back island mogul than a stressed-out farmer. It’s the perfect combination of relaxation and creative freedom, where every decision feels like you’re designing the ultimate luxury retreat—except there are no deadlines or picky clients. 😎🍹
So, if you’re looking for a game that’s as chill as a tropical breeze and as fun as throwing a luau, The Islander is the perfect getaway. Plant, build, decorate, and make your island the envy of the Pacific. You’ll be island-hopping your way to happiness in no time! 🌺🌊

Overall, I liked this game for what it is. It has a very small pricepoint, a few dollars - and offers up a simple and potentially stress free clicker farming experience. It felt a bit more hands on than other idle games I have played before. Granted, absolutely don't buy this if you are expecting a tropical Stardew Valley clone - this is a very small scale experience in comparison. Is it necessarily better than other idle clicker games? No. Is it necessarily worse? Also no. It's pretty alright. If you're interested in The Islander don't forget to checkout its sequel, The Islander: Town Architect

The Islander is an idle farming simulation game that was released in 2018 by Boxhead Bros. It features a pixelated island set somewhere in Polynesia. It's a low priced game that explains within its store that it is supposed to be a slower paced and relaxing experience where you build and farm while easing your mind and soul. Boxhead Bros. released a follow up game you can also checkout; The Islander: Town Architect. This sequel seems to be more centered around the building aspects as opposed to the farming.
The game starts with an option for random or regular island. Random presents a procedurally generated yet static island where you terraform it to your will by knocking down trees and busting up all the rocks. Regular islands don't have this obstacle as they are solely beach, and you will slowly expand its size.
The top left of the screen shows your finances as well as your level and monetary multiplier. At the bottom of the screen you can look at blueprints to see what is available to be built. Blueprints are directly tied to your overall level as most will slowly unlock as your level grows. Building decorations will increase your monetary multiplier.
After planting some crops you'll have to wait for them to grow. This can be a tedious process but after they are done simply mouse over them with the basket tool to harvest. If you're lazy you can build the coconut robots to autoharvest your crops.
While this is going on a few clickables will show up around the island. A parrot will fly over, a fish will jump out of the water or starfish will wash up on the beach - these all grant money as well.
This is pretty much the entire game. There are bunch of different things to plant, trees, bushes and crops. There are also animals to tend, chickens, pigs, and even pandas - but essentially each is just a different timer with a different cash assignment. This is very much so a clicker game or an extremely simplified tycoon sim.
An entire playthrough of the game to the point of maxing out everything takes about a couple hours, while achievement hunting to 100% the Steam achievements took about five. A large chunk of time spent away from keyboard as the coconut-bots farmed in my absence.
Visually this game is middle of the road. It's not phenomenal but it's also not bad. I think some might consider it to be rather bland but I think it's middle of the road and simple approach aid in favor to its simplistic design and calming zen attitude.
Disgruntled opinions on the sound I find more reasonable. There only seems to be one musical track which plays on repeat. By itself its a fine, maybe quirky, soundtrack. Played on repeat non-stop for 2 hours straight? Now not so much.
Besides the music mostly the sounds consist of various soft pops as things are harvested as well as the general sound of the robo-nuts helicoptering around. Only this white noise of gathering sound is broken by an ear shattering bed squeak. This sound is your house makin' money. Honestly, it didn't bother me too much but I can completely understand how it could unsettle others.
