So this developer had some business issues and decided to stop working on this game and turn it free to play. I wish if I had some personal problems I could just drop it and screw over those that put me in the position I am in today instead of honoring my commitments specially to those who spent real money.
Instead he takes the easy way out to start another project to pillage more money from hard working folks. Screw this studio and I hope you get whats coming to you for taking the easy way out instead of FINISHING your product. Arencar you will never see another penny from me you cheat. I hope allot of folks read this and blacklist you also. I am trying to bring this to Valves attention to get him removed.
I have added 2 tags to this game - scam ware and fraud. Join me in adding this hoping to get it to the front of the queue so others see this.
I also see he keeps clearing out the forum posts. All of them.
Devs disabled all online features because they "finished" the game. Also no more updates or bugfixes. The game died without getting out of early access.
my favorite idle game cause it combines my favorite genre od tower defense with idling to achieve stuff.
the devs are active, helpful and open for a chat if you have any kind of issue.
so if you like one or the other give it a try!
Defense Clicker at its core is a very simple tower defense, idle, clicker game that does these things right. You start by building a tower to start the wave-based game-play of monsters. These monsters range from ground types to flying, bosses and ultra bosses (gods) and some will have unique abilities (more health, damage absorption, speed, bonus drops, summon monsters, teleportation, etc,) There is a day/night cycle and weather system (rainy and snow) that will change monster stats. You can set the wave difficulty higher and more monsters for more of a challenge. You'll start to obtain "resources" to start upgrading your towers for more damage, speed, range, etc, some pets to obtain resources when they drop on the field (keep upgrading them to gather resources faster), other pets that attack monsters, and some heroes to help you to kill monsters.
You have an in-game level you can level up by killing monsters and when you reach certain level requirements you'll open up jobs (a sort of side class you can all so level up and get more gold, damage to clicks, more tower damage globally (so leveling each job class helps)).
Once you finish a run you can reset for some evo's, these will allow you to upgrade some passives to help you go farther in runs and most upgrades to gold and resources storage go back to normal (need to upgrade each run, some passives can upgrade +gold storage).
There have been some good and consistent updates to the game. The dev is very helpful and active in the discussions when someone has a question. Events are planned (just had the Halloween event and had a pet you could get by gathering Halloween drops in-game, once you obtained the pet each 5k drops you picked up added 1 extra damage the pet did), and there are 271 achievements to get too. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that liked the idle, tower base games.
If you are interested in Steam inventory items this game has x1 drops every hour, drop timer resets when you reset the map. Steam Inventory Guide
Defense Clicker: Unlimited Tower Defense Game
Defense Clicker combines elements of tower defense and clicker games with numerous features to promote unlimited progression. I have played the game in the past and have recently come back to the game with the new Halloween event. By the way, there are numerous community "towers" that get stronger the more players are active. So now is a good time to join since new players will have lots of really strong towers from the more active community during this event.
Graphics: 7/10 (nice simple graphics; I would personally prefer more variety in maps and towers as the same map gets a bit old over time)
Cinematics: 8/10 (later in game the screen gets packed full of effects from all the towers etc shooting thousands of projectiles at hordes of enemies in rapid speed with your pets running around - this is really fun to watch, but at the same time can take up a lot of computer power)
Story: 6/10 (not much story as far as I can tell - for some reason there are masses of enemies coming through this map that the player needs to kill; occasionally there are bosses and powerful ultrabosses with minions, but not sure what role they play in the story - this might have been something I missed from the tutorial since it has been a while since I did the tutorial)
Content: 10/10 (huge variety of ways to buff your abilities to kill off the masses of invaders)
Controls: 8/10 (everything is mouse clicking based, which makes sense considering it is a "clicker" game, but some keyboard controls would be nice as well)
Gameplay: 9/10 (really fun at first and interactive then as you get later in the game it becomes more of a setup strategy and let the game run for hours until doing the same thing over again)
Great game that I have really enjoyed playing. It is a nice mix of interactive game play followed by infinite strategic idle game play. The developer is fantastic and responds to player feedback about the game really quickly. I haven't noticed any bugs and the game runs super smoothly like a well-polished final project.
Overall: 8/10

Overall ★★★☆☆ - Good
Tower Defense / Idle Clicker hybrid.
It's a very basic Tower Defense game.
The first key change from normal Tower Defense games is death: When you die, you retain all your towers and all of your resources except for cash, and you start again on an early monster wave. So, little by little your tower cluster grows and you reach higher waves.
The second key change is permanent bonuses: Eventually you'll do an extended reset, called an evolution. This works just like in an idle clicker game. You lose everything in exchange for a small, permanent bonus.
Nice little time waster.
Seems ok to start with but progress is very slow. The Reset system does not provide enough of a bonus so each playthrough takes about as long as the last. You really need the resource collector to progress as well which costs extra.
Solid game so far. The only clicker/TD game that I know of. The Dev seems active with features listed for future implementation. Graphically, it's nothing special but that's not a huge drawback to me. The game doesn't lag. I've only started this but I can tell I'll be putting in many hours into this one. Keep up the good work. Will update review later as more features are added.
A good game to leave running in background and check once in a while. Simple graphically but pretty engaging mechanically. Right now the developer is working on the game very actively. The price is right as well.
Right now as of this review I have 312 hours invested in DefenseClicker. I find it to be a very well done idle/clicker game. As can be, that annoying thing called life (work, Family, Responsibility etc.) have not allowed me to spend the time sitting at my gaming station for hours on end so being able to make progress in games of the aforementioned genre has become the norm. I can check on it from time to time , see I'm making headway, add towers ,spend prime points on upgrades and then leave it alone for awhile. The dev has been very active since the launch of the game releasing updates and taking the time to respond to player questions and concerns. If you enjoy games like this and will invest some time overcoming the small learning curve i believe you will find it well worth it. Recommended .
If you like watching the progress of early access games that get updated daily and like the concept of a tower defence game that is also an incremental (doesn't end but keeps getting harder while you keep getting stronger and stronger) then try this game out. The developer listens to suggestions and regularly posts on the Discord site.
Really good clicker game. With some good DLC's that arent too pricey. The actual game is really fun and will keep you entertained for hours. With a majority of the game you can be AFK/IDLE but for upgrades and alot of it you can actually fight if you upgrade the clicking damage massively. But overall for the price im really pleased with the game. It's still in alpha and the developer is actively working on improving the game and fixing current in-game things. But the game is flawless. If you are into the whole clicker game scene. Then this is probley a game you would really enjoy with many upgradable aspects within the game.
There are somany good updates coming out as well.. Id recommend this game 100% and fully stand by my review for this game.
EDIT : 24/01/2019 -
So many updates have happend and added a ton more aspects to the game. Including the visuals being updated for pretty much alot of the stuff in-game. I cant really fault this game at all for the price. And the developer is very active in working and improving the game. Takes your information/complaints serious and actively works on fixing anything that isn't working. Extremely fun game considering i have over 200+ hours invested in the game. I don't regret any of them and im sure it still has many more hours. I know the biggest complaint was no tutorial but i don't really think its needed but he has added tool-tips and there is a very active discord you can use for help / see what progress overs have made etc. Again i strongly recommend this game going into 2019. As a really good and fun clicker that will keep you occupied FAR beyond what the price of this game is worth. If you do enjoy the game don't hesitate to purchase the supporter packs to help the developer out with the game. Not only do these supporter packs help you progress in-game You get some cool things that help you actively progress faster while afk / some cool pets :) + Recommend
This Game is created by two nice guys.
If there are problems or suggestions they take care,
And for me this is a REALLY big point
I like TD and i like Idle Games. Well, now i got both combined in
one Game :D
But be aware: this is no fast game. Have patience and take youre
time. The Game will rewared you
This is game is too slow at first to be realy enjoyable ...
If this was free it would be worth playing, so if you have on your steam account the 4,80€ (for collector and attack pet DLC)
Its worth elsewise i won't recommend this game since its WAY to difficulte at the begning, and going on steam post to learn how to play is annoying you should have made a button help with help direct in game, NOT STEAM OVERLAY !(steam overlay isn't fun...)
I like this game anyway, and since it is an alpha we can assume the game will be better, but as we all know alpha could be better than the game, and changes could make the game worse... So I cannot recomand this game NOW, I'll do another critique of this game later with my progress in the game...
The evolution thing, makes me thing that it might not be very worth to evolve since ENEMIES ARE TWICE STRONGER
and I would get only ONE EVOLUTION point, so its not enough i think.
(the AU tower thing to buy seems nice bytheway, so first evolutions might be worth, but next ones I don't know, I'll tell you later)
To conclude, this game is a not worth its price, (and if you buy it you must buy DLCs collecter and pet attack otherwise at first you cannot REALY IDLE)
I actually really enjoy this clicker. It's a more 'active' game than most.
The DEV appears, at least for the moment, to be active and updates regularly.
No reason not to give it a go if you love your clickers the way I do. Its not free, but nor is there endless DLC or micro transactions.
Cheers
Defense clicker is an interesting mix of tower defense and incremental genres. The game is still in its infancy when it comes to development but the developer makes updates almost daily and answers questions in the discord at an acceptable rate. He isn't philosophical when it comes to ideas and is willing to take new ideas and implement them if they will enhance the game.
I'm not used to paying money for this kind of game, but the amount of work I see in the development makes me not mind. The game is $2.00 but I went ahead and spent $10 for all the early access perks. I'd like to see this game become something amazing or at least become popular.
Fun game so far, I am playing without the real-money pet and it isn't horrible. The game would be a lot better with more clarity all around. Range indicators for towers, a display showing damage and attack speed, more information about upgrades and such. Also, the currencies can be very hard to spot and manually pick-up amongst all of the enemies and projectiles.
Overall 2.5/5; with more information about currencies, towers, upgrades, and whatever else I would say 4/5
An example of an upgrade that needs more clarity would be +0.2 damage/level. Does this mean +0.2 damage per tower level or does it not scale at all. Another example is +1 gold/kill, does this scale up with enemy rewards or is it a flat (later useless) amount?
To make it short. Defense Clicker is one of the best clicker games I ever played!
Actually it is "The Best" clicker game I ever played. :-)
And it is not a standalone clicker game at all. It rather combines a clicker game with the aspects of a tower defense game.
You are building towers to fend off the hordes of golems, birds and bats instead of this tiredsome hero unlocking and leveling up thing most clicker games use to frustrate players to a point they quite willingly spent a lot of money to just get over with the game.
The game is constantly (in fact daily) improved to get rid of the few flaws I never encounterd lol
and the dev listens to his audience in aspects of implementing players wishes.
I highly recommend this to anyone.
GAMEPLAY: 5/5
Defense Clicker is a simple blend of tower defense and idle game.
Gameplay consists of placing towers to defend against enemy waves and purchasing upgrades. The 'idle' segment of the game consists of persistent resources and upgrades that remain after you lose all lives, also knows as resets. Resets happen often but as you upgrade, you will survive longer each time.
As for the early access aspect of the game, the dev has many improvements planned for the game and updates daily. For such a low price I did not find the early access state of the game discouraging me from purchasing as it normally does.
GRAPHICS AND AUDIO: 2/5
Graphically the game could use some improvement. The particle effects are nice but the tower visual designs and general level design could use some improvement, I feel the scattered trees look more clutter than the forest it seems to be trying to be, and the UI blend with the terrain is a good move, it is a little too simplistic and could use a little more texture.
Sound and music definitely need some improvement but due to the genre they have minimal impact on my enjoyment of the game, as the inclusion of the mostly automatic 'farming mode' may have you muting them to let it do its thing in the background until you return to the active play mode.
SUMMARY:
All in all, despite the current flaws of the game, the gameplay itself is enough to warrant my positive recommendation. I have enjoyed my experience so far and look forward to whatever improvements the dev has for the game when they arrive.
