Super fun and cartoony twin stick shooter. The rogue-like components are fun and the environments and secrets within are fun to navigate and unearth.
In my honest opinion, I wish more people knew about this underrated gem. The game is great fun and plays similar to bullet hell without the bullets which to someone like me who is trash at bullet hell can appreciate the game easier and fun nature, not to say the game is not challenging though because it balances it perfectly. The game deserves much love and is worth a play
This game doesn't have any sort of "easy mode" for people who want a fun twin stick shooter, but don't have all the time in the world to continuously fail to beat the first level over and over.
Sorry, but until the game gets some sort of accessibility, it's a hard no from me.
Great implementation of the roguelike genre. There are some mechanics I don't enjoy (but that is just subjective stuff).

In general quite a fun and pretty well made little game. Loved the idea and aesthetic. The main let down and the reason why I can't recommend it is the save system. Sure it's a roguelike, but having a system where the player is not able to save his CURRENT run and come back to it later is just plain stupid.
Edit: After the developers response I gave the game one more shot. Ive since reinstalled the game and it no longer has problems with continually rotating my aim and i can now aim by direction. If you have problems with it not letting you aim by direction try reinstalling. So for now ill be changing my review to a thumbs up.
Pretty fun and quirky top down shooter.

This game is Best played with keyboard and mouse. Two-Player Co-Op. Waves of creatures summon in alien format to try and wreck you.

Bullet Hell of Pistol - You can Hold the button to shoot
OR Tap, whatever you prefer. Most shooters force tap shoot. Some bullet hells are more chilled.
This one, has lots of buildings.

VERY BASIC CONTROLS:
Your Guns are your hold shift menu. Minimap, CTRL< and WASD, Q to drop weapon, and E to use/pick/talk to people.
Local Co-Op IS Available. That's a big Up. That's already why this is an excellent recommendation. EVen if it's more difficult for her. I'll guard her on the controller :P with an accuracy measure;

This is such a good game and it saddens me that it hasn't received more attention. I love seeing games that are legitimately good and have developers that actually care about the quality of their game.

So many references, so many guns with each guns that feels useful and effective, so many creative uses for enemy veggies.
Looks and sounds are classic 80's.
The whole vibe equals to Hotline Miami.

This game is a blast! I Stumbled upon it by accident and man am I glad I did. The walking vegetables is a twin stick roguelite where you're tasked to destroy mutated fruits and vegetables. You get a bunch of different guns as you clear out building after building all to get the key to the boss. There was so much variation. I saw new enemies with each playthrough and the bosses also change. There are plenty of weapons and each feel unique and like they have weight behind their shots. The game has solid controls and makes it a blast to play! If you enjoyed enter the gungeon or any other twin stick shooter I absolutely recommend adding this to your library!
I've played a bit more of the game than the steam time counter says.
This game is a breath of fresh vegetable based air. It might sound stupid, but the enemies really make a lot of sense. Broccoli has lots of branches. Potatoes go underground. It makes the game fairly intuitive yet still filled with lots of variety. There were some annoyances when I played during a free weekend a while back, but those seem all cleared up now. That's a major plus too.
It might not be as filled and finely honed as competitors, but it's extremely fun and easy to get started in, pretty hard to do well in, and generally fair (flipping broccoli, I hate you). I'd recommend it if you enjoy shoot em ups and are tired of the blood splattered, horror filled themes, or are looking for something a little more predictable (yet still plenty challenging)
The Walking Vegetables
This is a wonderful Twin stick shooter and works great with the Xbox 360 controller. If you love these style shooters, Im sure you will enjoy this game also. Press Y to change weapons, I like to save good weapons and ammo for the boss fights and just use the basic gun blaster for all vegies that cross my path. You can use 2 styles of weapons, eg like throwing knifes, daggers, boomerangs etc as you find them, but there is only a limit of how many weapons you can carry, which is easy enough to figure out as you play. Game is NOT so easy and NOT so hard, but it is FUN and you will only improve as you progress, BUT dont die, as I see you only get 4 health so keep them as full as possible. Shoot furniture to find items/ keys in buildings OR dont shoot furniture if your an achievement hunter :P, and all in all, JUST have a blast. Love this game, and love my steamed vegies as well.
DONT FORGET TO EAT YOUR VEGIES once you finished playing with them ok. Thank you to this developer for creating this very fun little Twinstick shooter, I wish him the best in the future. Also hope he adds Trading Cards, need some vegie emoticons now ;D
Veggies have gone buckwild...The Walking Vegetables is one of the better twin stick shooters I have played, and I have played just about every twin stick known to man, as I absolutely love the genre. This game is from the maker of the classic "Zombie Kill of the Week", and it shows, as this game has some of same elements and fun factor. TWV is a hidden gem and has been sorely overlooked, including by myself. I bought this game on sale, but after playing it, it's well worth the full price for fans of twin stick shooters.
The controls are tight, the aiming is precise, there's a nice variety of weapons you can find and some have actual recoil and push your character back when you shoot, which I think is a very nice touch, then there's also permadeath, unlockables, reusable items that have a cooldown, couch co-op, random levels, bosses, a nice mix of enemies that are quite different from each other, and the game is fast paced, non-stop action, as enemies spawn around you. I've had a lot of fun, I really dig the graphics style, complete with a VHS 80's style presentation, and the music in the game is rad.
While the game's options aren't plentiful, you can turn off the VHS style (squiggly lines running down the screen) if you don't care for it, and I was able to turn off the moving camera (example: press stick up, camera moves up) which moved too fast for me and almost made me motion sick, lol. I also turned down screenshake and screenflash as I'm never a big fan of those settings so I'm glad those options were tweakable and I wanted to point out at least a few of the settings you can change. I also noticed that this game utilizes the vibration on your controller really well (I use a Xbox One), something I rarely notice in most games, and of course, there's an option to turn it down or off if you want.
If you love twin stick shooters as much as I do, then TWV is an absolute must have "buy it right now" kinda game. I really hope that the dev adds different characters or costumes like they had in "Zombie Kill of the Week" as that's my only con, that you're stuck with a pre-made character with no customization. Great game and I would have never thought shooting veggies could be so much fun.
This game is very well made for having one person do it, that saying I support this person 100%!

However only 1 thing ive noticed, which is fine but its a bug. (Its where i was in other dimesion minigame and the last vegi became imortal so it wont die.
A REALLY great hidden gem of a game. The Walking Vegetables is genuinely fun, addictive and funny. There is SO much content in this supposedly little game. There are tons of enemy types with their own attack variations, animations and looks, there are many unique bosses (I've only defeated 2 so far) and tons of unlockables - be it guns, throwables or melee weapons. Everything in this game is original. The music is great too as is the art style.
If you're thinking about picking this one up, do it - you won't regret it.

This game is amazing, wish i had more time to play it at the moment but when i do play, it is amazing. Constant updates are being released from the release date of the game which is good to.

The Walking Vegetables is made by the insanely talented dev behind Zombie Kill of the Week. That game is a cult classic masterpiece for relaxing zombie slaughtering and fun multiplayer zombie slaughtering. When the Walking Vegetables was announced I didn't know what to make of it, but I bought it anyway. I was treated to a really interesting and hard rogue-lite game that infuriated me but for some reason kept bringing me back. I didn't love it, but I couldn't stop playing it.
In the short time, the game has been released the developer has been reacting to player feedback with bug fixes, tweaks, and updates. This sort of responsive understanding and talented game dev is doing everything right. I wholeheartedly recommend this game. It was worth the asking price at launch and it's an even better game now.
It's not perfect, it can be frustrating and a bit cheap at times. But it's fun. Damn fun. It's fun to play alone. It's fun to watch someone play and it's fun to play with your friends. BUY THIS!
This game is freekin' awesome! You get to gun down Broccoli. Who doesn't want to do that? The 80s vibe, the controls, the action, the graphics. Everything about this game is great. Really enjoyed playing it.
Not enough health available though. Seems to be lots of health when I don't need it and none when I do. It's the same with Shotgun shells. Plenty when I don't need 'em. Nowhere to be found when I'm low.

It's got co-op, piles upon piles of different guns and by far one of the most fun looking premise and enemies in a game I've ever seen. Great stuff!
