One of the best fighting game franchises, gorgeous pixel art, absolutely cool character design, very good music, the controls and animations are top of the top, im not rating it higher cause this specific steam version have a problem with full screen the game crashes, already dig in the bottom of the internet for answers but the only solution is to never change the video setting to full screen, and being the max resolution around 900p in window mode, it sucks to play it in a small window, be aware, it is better to just emulate it.
Nostalgic
All The King of Fighters games are all fun pick ups that go on sale all the time. Games released in the series after KOF '97 are better. However, if your a fan of the series, and want to get the achievements, grab it when its on sale. You'll be happy you did.
KOF 97 ainda é um bom jogo de luta, e o porte para PC está ok (mas poderia ser melhor). Esse porte traz lista de golpes, galeria de imagens, modo multiplayer online, filtros (utéis, mas basicamente dão uma borrada nos pixels e previnem o flickering... faltou um filtro HD decente) e controle de dificuldade (que está longe de ser dos melhores, mas é bem comum esse tipo de funcionalidade não ser bem implementado em portes de arcade). Para mim um dos pontos que mais pecou foi a falta de um modo de prática que ajuda demais em jogos de luta. O modo arcade tem um enredo mínimo por trás com animações que dão um toque adicional. Apesar da idade, percebe-se o nível detalhe que foi colocado em cada cenário e personagem. As lutas finais do arcade são bem desiquilibradas (o nível 1 ou 2 de dificuldade é um bom começo para que nunca jogou a série). Faltou também uma galeria sobre os personagens explicando um pouco sobre cada um. Não acho que esse é o melhor KOF que se pode jogar hoje em dia (2024), e não recomendaria como primeira opção (a não ser para os fãs da série).
Completei o modo arcade em um sistem Linux utilizando o SteamPlay (Proton 9.0-4) sem problemas
A great port, but the slowdown when fire sparks appear is still there, but I guess that would be modifiying the game too much? otherwise, it's a modest, but generally well excecuted, the controls being universial to both gameplay and menus is a bit annoying, but it's neither here nor there.

A super-smooth remaster of a classic title, with excellent rollback netcode.
I think it also has my favourite BGM of the entire series.
Can we get a netcode update to KOFXIII?

It's a lovely game.
A classic, polished SNK fighting game residing at the peak of the first King of fighters story line. As the final canon entry to the Orochi Saga you get a lot of conclusions to character arcs that really hit you in the emotions. This make for a great finale to that era and has you excited for the next. The mechanics, moves and features are at their penacle surpassed only by 98. But with 98 being a dream match and 97 having such a dramatic and cinematic feel make sure you don't miss out on this excellent piece of SNK and KOF history.
I know this is a quick cashgrab in order to capitalize on China's obsession with '97 in particular, but even as such it's still a very poor effort, especially compared with the other Code Mystics works. No training mode at this day and age is a complete dealbreaker. Even the Orochi Saga Collection on the PlayStation/Wii gives you a superior experience aside from the loading times.
