This one is just the first one but better.
Truly this is the best fighting game that I don't care to be any good at, the art and animations are amazing, the characters I weirdly find bland but good, the story line is mercifuly concluded with a nice bow... but I wouldn't be able to tell you a damn thing about gameplay, the arcade gives you the choice that if you keep using continues the life of your opponent keeps getting shorter to the point that you can beat the last boss in one hit (and I did that on the easiest difficulty setting) so as I said, the best fighting game that I really don't care to be any good at.

Well, I just think the first one was better because of the Original Kaede... (that guy was OP as heck), but still, The Last Blade 2 is also a great fighting game in its own right.
The plot continues, as the rich guy now wants to contain the demon, not allow it refuge in the world... But then, Koryu rises to take the power of the seven orbs... Or something like that! I mean the game has no cutscenes whatsoever, so I just assumed this is how the story goes from the fighting intro screen lol. That's why I said the first game was much better; it had a few cutscenes, some story, while the most story you'll get out of this one are the Intro screens in Stage 7 (rival stage, if you play fighting games you'd understand).
However, the mechanics are kept in; it's still the baby child of Garou:MOTW and Samurai Shodown... Those 5 hit combos go heavy on the health bar like nothing I've ever seen. Needless to state how they dumbed down OP Kaede into this Super Saiyan Kaede that deals less damage (somehow) and has crappier moves.
All in all, like the first game, you've got Time Attack modes and unlike the first game, there are still some people gaming, so chances are you'll sometimes find a few games up where you can try your two-hit combos and get absolutely BODIED by the people playing this rock-guy called Shigen, who blocks your moves while doing his own.
I guess it's safe to assume you'll have a lot of fun playing this one, but it's not better than the first game in my opinion. 6/10, will I play more of it now that I 100% it? Probably not.
Wish there was more of a playerbase but it's a good game.

What the fuck is the black bar between game and frame art? What happened to the origin pixel perfect no stretch display mode?You provided the fullscreen stretch option but ruined the original display mode without offering a choice. Please fix this.
The Last Blade 2 is a phenomenal fighting game and sadly such a hidden gem. This and Garou Mark of the Wolves are the SNK version of Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Beautiful art direction, sprite work, and stage design. Music that's filled with emotion. Deep challenging mechanics that are decently easy to learn, but very hard to master. A great story with so many amazing characters. If you're a fan of fighting games, please give this game a try, it's such a hidden gem, and it's a shame more people don't play this.
