Badly made. Few instructions and nothing make sense... like you have to "twist" device to make them turn on a vertical axe. Don't waste too much time on this game IMO.
This was a fun little game! Some of the puzzles are less than intuitive but it did extend the game play.
Excellent! Original scanner sphere mechanic.
Cartoony low-poly models are easy to the eyes.
Books with actual clues, non-puzzle minigames, secret rooms, etc.
I love puzzles and Escape rooms and when I got my rig I bought a bunch of them that I did not play for a while.
Now that I have played HL Alex to death I tried a couple of them and I would not recommend this one. I played another one just before this and that had fun puzzles and interesting solutions. Only a couple of times I did not find the puzzles or I had to search for a clue.
I've only played the first 2 rooms of this game before uninstalling so the end might be amazing but I was so annoyed by all the hide and seek I had to do. All clues where hidden via infrared light and no puzzles just locks with things to find in the room. Not my favorite experience.
So if you love searching for hidden clues and pixel hunt this is the game for you, but not for me.
Good Game, but you really!! need to utilize the scanner to find hints and clues for some of the puzzles. Totally worth the money.
I love this game, me and my daughter (aged 19) just played this for 4 hours straight, and haven't finished yet. We take it in turns to do a room and the puzzles within them, some we found easy and some hard. I like the fact that there is a mix of both.
I bought it when it was on offer in a bundle but after playing it I would have happily paid more.
A VR puzzle game with minimalist, but cleverly crafted, environments. The difficulty level of the puzzles is a bit mixed – some were a bit easy for my taste and one a bit frustrating the central room puzzle on level 11 could have been improved by adding a couple of arrows to the hidden lines linking symbols that needed swapping .
On the whole I really enjoyed this game – I love the work of this developer and this IMO is the best yet. More please.
enjoyed their other games but the controls let this down for me, grabbing objects fine, grabbing puzzles like turning a dial was so annoying and those small blue tower puzzles, maybe a Rift only problem, the game part was great and they added snap turn, but for me it became very frustrating and not because of the puzzles.
LOVED this one. Great atmosphere, great puzzles, just exactly why I like VR escape rooms.
Bugged game. I opened the bonus treasure rooms but they were empty (i.e. no treasures on the pedestals). Also couldn't advance past the spike room because the jewel on the pedestal didn't spawn so nothing triggers the room and its puzzle.
It is also a stupid idea to have to SCAN randomly to HOPE to advance in the game... Should've been executed better.
A pity.
A fun puzzle game! Multiple rooms, with many puzzles, and a neat mechanic of examining for hidden things. I did run into one issue (no spoilers, so go ahead and read on!) in room 11 where an unlit torch should spawn on the floor of the left room, but it did not, and thus, I had no way to complete the puzzle. Resetting objects from the menu did not make that one respawn for some reason, but if this happens to you too, what worked for me was loading up directly from room 11, and the object spawned correctly. I was able to continue to the end of the game without any other issue. Very entertaining! If you enjoy puzzle and/or escape-the-room-type games, you'll probably have a good time with this. :)
A short game that might be worth the price tag if you're desperate. The puzzles aren't bad, nothing revolutionary, especially considering Silver Machine's other games (which can be purchased in a bundle). Find four symbols and enter them; is's a safe code with pictograms.
That said, the mechanic of the 'scanner' is infuriating. Once you introduce 'invisible puzzles', you add agrivation, because you've put into the player's head "there's something I'm missing, because I LITERALLY CAN'T SEE IT!" It makes you doubt if you're not solving a puzzle due to not having the right solution, or if there's something you're being denied. So you wave your hands around like a spastic, examining every wall like you're trying to avoid eye contact at a work party.
Three times I resorted to brute forcing puzzles (two pillars due to twisting my wrists, and the 3X3 in the lava by literally slamming my hands on the blocks until i apparently hit the correct combination.) since I didn't understand what it wanted from me. Was i supposed to line up the pieces to the glowing bits, were they invisible parts I had to account for? On the 3x3 all i found was an arrow pointing up.
What finally made me quit was after the lava when i finished a 'pipe game' style puzzle, i found a rock with four symbols, and no place to put them. My thought process went as follows. "Do I have to backtrack? There's a door over there, but it doesn't have a keypad or anything? Do I need to keep searching the walls?" and as I stared at the glowing orb in my hands, I asked myself "Do I really want to play where's waldo with the walls just to MAYBE get a clue?" and the answer was "No, I don't."
So I shut it off, and uninstalled it.
TLDR; not a bad game, from a good VR puzzle studio, but one mechanic that could have been interesting muddies the whole experience. Buy in the bundle, but don't bother on its own.
Great game for the asking price. TBH Ive not been a huge fan of escape-room type games, but this is quite good and I do like the Egyptian setting. Gets the old grey-matter working, which is unusual for me as I'm over 50 lol. Also wanted to do a bit of dev-support too. Well done!
Played through the entire game over a few hours with some breaks. As of 4/11/2019 it is fully beatable and the review that say it's not are either old or they just gave up.
My group had a blast playing, would strongly recommend either as a solo or as a small group party game just like an escape room experience would normally. We took turns with who was in the headset, but everyone got to participate in helping solve the clues.
Most of the puzzles were fairly fair and straightforward enough to figure out, but there are some that either really make you think, or find certain clues. The best advice to avoid frustration I can offer, is that when using the scanner, you have to be pretty close to the thing you're scanning. There were a few puzzles where we were sure we had scanned an entire room only to find that we were like an inch away from the wall/object and missed it.
I believe only 1 of the puzzles we had no clue how to do and ended up brute forcing it by just guessing over and over again until we got the correct series of answers, everything else has an answer that can be found in the room.
1 Bug was found where we dropped an item and it fell through the world, and then we fell through the world with it and could see the game from underneath (but found the item!) the reload option didn't bring the item back up and we had to restart at the level selector to get it back.
When I tried this game first, I didnt like it, since the sound was bugged, the graphics a bit blurry, and column with blue lines in first room was impossible to solve, no clues to it, I had to try all possibilities. But since I liked the other 2 games from the developer, I gave this another try now, some months later. And its actually cool, fun puzzles, I like it now and recommend it.
If you're a fan of escape rooms then you'll enjoy this. Many puzzles to choose from. The controls when it comes to spinning a puzzle part is the only frustrating part.
Great Escape the room/puzzler. Great amount of content, dev very responsive and thoughtful. Game has been out over a year and dev still open to tweaking, they (he? LOL) needs to be supported! The next game will be an instant buy just on their (his? LOL) track record.
Out of the three escape rooms released by this developer, I think this is my favourite. It has a nice asthetic. It has a lot of puzzles spread out through multiple rooms which gives a nice sence of progression. There are a couple of sections where it felt a little obscure and that I was using trial and error when I should have been using cleverness. This game relies heavily on the use of a little bubble which reveals secrets. Some of these have been made a bit easier to find with the latest update, which was a great improvement. Overall, definitely worth your time.
Amazing game! Very well designed and I'm going to be recommending this game to other people.
However, I did notice three bugs:
1. When you teleport near a wall while holding something it WILL get stuck outside the wall.
I lost a puzzle piece this way, fortunately it was just a decoy.
2. The elevator, don't teleport! I had to reboot the game to reset the elevator because I teleported through the floor.
3. My first attempt with the lava room button puzzle was glitched I believe as it was upside down.
Once I rebooted the game it was right side up and I was able to complete the puzzle.
Thank you for making this game, it was a lot of fun and I hope we see more games like this for VR!
Another short but sweet puzzler from Silver Machine. Bigger and better than their first game, Dungeon Escape VR.
The puzzles were challenging and rewarding, giving a nice sense of progress. Though I reached the end, there are still hidden treasures I'll need to uncover. I imagine final playtime to be about 3-4 hours. Well worth the price.
