EXPLORE THE EVER-CHANGING BASTION
Four heroes from four different universes, each with their own special skills, have been called upon by the mysterious government of the Metaverse.
Long ago, a great cataclysm shook reality and created the Metaverse and its Bastion – a vast and mysterious ship drifting across space-time. Our heroes will board the Bastion with one goal in mind: uncover the secrets behind the cataclysm, stop the Boss, and bring balance back to the Metaverse.
Harnessing the power of their space-time abilities, death becomes a minor setback as our heroes will return again and again until this great evil is defeated. But death has a cost; the chaotic nature of the Metaverse will change the very Bastion itself – and no two attempts will ever be the same.

BACKSTORY: THE BIRTH OF THE METAVERSE
Eons ago, in another time and another reality, the civilization of planet Noah was the oldest and most advanced in the universe – so advanced that there came a time where technology allowed the planet's inhabitants to communicate across the space-time continuum ... and see into the future. With the blueprint of the entire Universe laid bare before them, they discovered that Noah was doomed – destined to disappear in a catastrophic event in the distant future.
It was then that a hero emerged. Harnessing the collective scientific knowledge of Noah, he claimed he could save the planet – even if it cost him his life. He bent space-time to his will – harnessing the might of these technological marvels – only to cause an even larger catastrophe. The specifics of his deeds, and even his own name, have long been forgotten – but Noah was saved. However, the question remained: At what cost?
Space-time had twisted in on itself. Stars, planets, and civilizations across the entire history of the Universe tangled together in a chaotic weave – creating the Metaverse. As an ever-changing mixture of what was, what is and what will (or could!) be, the Metaverse is a strange and dangerous place.
However, the so-called hero seemed to have his own mysterious reasons for causing this cataclysm. Since his sudden disappearance, and now ominous return, he became known as the enemy of the entire Metaverse.
He became The Boss.
TODAY: MEET OUR HEROES
Now the Metaverse is in peril again. The Boss is back and threatens to destroy all that’s left of reality. The united government of the Metaverse has called upon new heroes to challenge the looming darkness – and hopefully, restore balance to reality.
Four heroes have answered the call. Veterans of countless cosmic-level conflicts, these four have saved their own planets time after time. All bring their own unique combat style, skills, and talents to bear in their attempt to save the entirety of existence.
WONG: THE PROGRAMMER
A genius hacker who combines tech-savviness and serious hand-to-hand combat skills, Wong’s special skill is the Matrix Shuttle – allowing him to pass through enemies while also dealing damage. Through the use of Chips, he can increase his total health, stamina or damage.
ZOE: THE BOMBER GIRL
As a demolition expert, Zoe is knowledgeable about (and happy to use) everything and anything that goes BOOM! Her special skill is the Rocket Leap, which allows her to dodge attacks in a powerful leap and deal damage with both takeoff and landing. With Chips, she can increase the number of bombs she carries and their damage – and she regains HP when defeating enemies with a bomb.
BROOKS: THE ROCK STAR
Don’t be fooled, Brooks is more than just a pretty face and an angelic voice. Wielding the power of "rock 'n' roll" itself, his special skill provides Brooks a dodge with 3 charges that refill over time. He can use Chips to summon extra healing orbs when picking up Hearts of Life, exchange Stamina for HP, and increase his max Stamina or critical damage.
HOWARD: THE ASTRONAUT
Howard is a veteran explorer and scientist who has spent his life charting the strange corners of the Metaverse. With his special skill, he can teleport forward and generate two portal gates that he can travel between for a short period of time. He can use Chips to summon energy orbs in different situations, increase their damage, and restore shield points.
BUT… WHAT ARE THESE CHIPS?
Chips are remnants from the old Universe – ancient Noah technology that survived the cataclysm. No one knows exactly how they work – only that each grants different powers. With the energy gathered by discovering new rooms, players can purchase them from Chip Machines and use them to equip various passive effects – or customize their weapons to create more powerful builds that can adapt to different battles, enemies, and bosses. Alternatively, Chips can be used to power a character’s special talents.

A fun twin stick with dozens of weapons and odd powerups (like using a salted swordfish as a weapon).
Pretty bland. I usually play these types with a friend 40+ hours but this got boring really quick and we got on sale. Once youve played Ember Knights everything else just falls short but this one more than others.
Really fun game! Very replayable. A lot better than i was expecting to be honest, lol. Even my girlfriend loves it! Expensive on the switch, but very affordable on steam :)
Unfortunately it's an abandoned game, but I was genuinely surprised with how fun the game is! I really wish there were more stages :') Highly recommend!
ABANDONWARE
This game will never leave early access. Last update was in 2020 (ok there was a small bugfix in early 2021).
I'm really getting sick of games with ton of potential getting abandoned by devs. The game was really fun and had some the binding of Isaac online multiplayer potential but now it's all ruined. The multiplayer works by connecting to an external server and for a long while it's been laggy and buggy.
Also no, the game is not done. It's still buggy and devs themselves said that they'll be adding more stuff. But surprise, they didn't. They don't touch the steam discussions since 2020.
If you really want to give it a try you'll discover everything there is in couple of runs and that's it. There will never be any new content. I wouldn't waste my money had I known this would happen.
The percentage that this game has gotten does not reflect its quality. It is above average gameplay, above average graphics, above average sound & music. This is just an overall really great game if you are into stuff like The Binding of Isaac. Highly recommend for roguelite fans.
Do you like Enter The Gungeon but wish it was easier? Or 4 player?

Also has an out of control mode for more of a challenge.
- movement is very slow
- lots of different weapons but only like 6 basetypes - so many weapons feel the same
- luck is a major factor getting into endgame - you can simply end up witha bad weapon and deal no damage
Its fun and engaging, a bit short and now dead, but worth buying on some discount for sure

What an underrated amazing roguelike game!
Many, many Items, Skills, Bomb variations, Upgradable Meelee or Ranged Weapons, Fluid gameplay/combat, Optional Full Aim Assist, Characters with different stats and passives, various monsters, some trap rooms and room hazards that can also damage enemies, Pure Roguelike game mode, --REAL online co-op, scaling difficulty up to 4 people-- , Tough Achievements, vibing music!
Predictable monsters, yet difficult! You are not going to die by frustrating unavoidable random monster behavior!
And the best part is that it's not even fully released yet.
The base of the game is already amazingly solid and it will be very easy for it to expand with challenge runs and extra optional bosses etc.
9.5/10 Only because the art is HighQuality but not my type, and there's not much character / story development/ relatability-probably because it's still not fully developed.
I am very looking forward to exploring more of what the developers will bring on the table!
I love roguelites. I suck at roguelites. This is a fun, cartooney, not too crushingly difficult roguelite I can play over and over again when I have 45 minutes to kill.
I can't recommend as it stands since it hasn't been updated for a very long time. It would be a shame if it gets totally abandoned, since it has good potential.
Don't let the "Mixed" review score fool you - Metaverse Keeper provides a ton of excellent content for your money. Does it suck that it's been a while since the developers have released an update? Definitely. When you throw money at an Early Access title, you hope that the developers will keep up with their end of the bargain. That said, the current version of Metaverse Keeper feels like a complete game. I've sunk 15-plus hours into this game, and I still feel there are more things to unlock, monsters to encounter, and runs to complete. The art style pops, the meta progression feels natural and rewarding, and it runs relatively well (minus a few hiccups here and there). I certainly hope Sparks Games provide more content (because I love fresh content), but I'm very happy with what they've accomplished thus far.
Super fun, super casual, SUPER addictive. Co-op or solo are both viable. I love the colorful graphics and the music. However, it's the frantic gameplay, and the way the difficulty ramps up in a way that doesn't just ground you into dust 30 seconds into your first play though. It's still early access, and a lot of the translations still need to be polished/fixed. Still, this game is more than worth your time and your money.
Very fun. Had a lot of content for how small the game is. Lots of things to discover. The upgrade trees and character abilities are very balanced.
I really wanted to enjoy this game, but while using a controller, the right stick doesn't work, and the auto-targeting option in the options menu doesn't work all the time. This means that during a boss fight, I will target minions much of the time instead of the boss.
This isn't a big deal until the screen is full of mobs, even in normal rooms. I was really hoping the right-stick issue had been resolved, but it seems it had not. So, for folks like me who do best with the controller, targeting is pretty crap until you use auto-targeting, which fails some of the time.
Can't comment on keyboard/mouse as I didn't use them.
Translation could also be better but that isn't a big issue for me.
A good game to play with other people, even your 8 year old niece. There's much love put into Metaverse: you can experience it through unique gameplay ideas, graphics and internal mechanics that just makes you smile.
After few hours of intense play, experience may wear-off a bit due to repeating pattern and lack of novelty. But, it's Early Access Game -- it should be less of a problem as development progresses.
I've played this game both by myself and with my wife. We had alot of fun, and the game has alot of replay value in it. It takes a while to unlock everything in the game(upgrades) and there are a couple of extra characters to choose from, two of which you unlock through medium difficulty task done on the fly. Although I love this game, and would buy it again, or buy a part 2.....it's community is dead, and you have ZERO hope of finding someone else to play with. If you don't have a friend that is willing to play, or someone in your house that is playing split screen with you, it can get stale after several runs.
Great little game. Glad it popped up on my radar. Visual style reminds me of Earthbound, gameplay is a bit of a less brutal Binding of Isaac. Lots of perks to unlock, solid replayablity, solid online/ offline multiplayer. Pick it up!
Only thing I don't like is that you can't really do Mouse/Keyboard from what I have seen. I notice you can do keyboard but nothing with mouse. So ofc I went to the xbox controller which works just fine. Good game, need to add more in lines of the chips. I am not sure how deep they go but it feels there should be more variety from the start. *Maybe I havn't unlocked some. Good game though totally fun to do coop with some buddies. The lobby and multiplayer stuff is like 20XX which kinda sucks for joining your friends every match. GG ready for some more updates etc.
Not sure where all these negative chinese reviews are coming from, but this is a solid roguelike. Highly recomended if you like co-op games.
