This game is the most punishing and unrewarding game i have ever played, and is very beginner unfriendly. I wont say that i hate this game but i dont think it was worth my money because of how hard it was just to get the right wheel settings so i wasnt wrestling my wheel, it was fun once i got the hang of it but when it came to buying new cars, they were all so different in the power, weight, and handling ratio that it was pointless.
Looks good, sounds good, feels good
A great way to remind yourself that you're actually terrible at racing games
I wish I had found this game years ago.
I thought it was going to be like the arcade like crap of the other dirt titles.
So, I went to wrc 9,10, generations... They're alright but the engines sound like garbage.
Dirt rally 2.0, on the other hand is realistic AND has great engine sounds.
BTW, I tried the new EA WRC and had to refund that garbage because of the anti cheat. As usual EA didn't spend money on programmers and techs because the CEO and share holders needed more money. (Thanks to all the presidents that cut taxes on capital gains and corporations, this is the way of end stage capitalism lol)
Screw EA for ruining it and not fixing it!
"Your DiRT Rally 2.0 review has been reset to negatve, because a discrepancy between offline gameplay and your shit servers was detected."
For those who don't know: there are tons of cases from 2019 from people losing their career progress due to this s h i t. After 9 hours and about to finish my FIRST championship victoriously, got my progress wiped on the LAST race. Moreover, it kept all the expenses without refunding any of them. Still no fix.
Codemasters? More like coderеtаrds.
Upd: also I just realized, that despite buying GOTY edition which quite explicitly states it includes everything, it didn't add the DLC with Alpine 110. How the fuck its even in DLC? Imagine a rally game without this classic in vanilla.
44 DLC items. 44. The game is great and it's a blast sending a RWD rally car through twists and turns, but this is a negative review solely because of the moronic number of DLC. You get 6 different rally locations in the base game, and then a few rallycross tracks, that's it. And Finland and Colin Mcrae's Subaru are DLC too? Of course they are, all you want is money. Get lost, I'd rather refund and get the full game through other means.
> Buy a game on sale
> This looks awesome
> Start an event
> Completely destroy the car in the first part of the race
> Get closer to the end
> Sun is setting down
> Headlights are broken
> Can't see a thing
> Crash at almost every turn
This helped me learn how to listen to the dude next to me. Never trusted anyone like that in my life. Best experience ever.
100/10
All imma say is that as a rally game its alr its not forgiving and hard i think thats good but holy shit this game economy is absolutely trash in 4h of playing ive earned maybe 30k? not even enough to buy any other car its insane i started trying cheat engine etc to give me some money so i can do some daily challenges ofc it has some kind of anticheat cuz the money started dissapearing after i added it and i kinda dont get it why would they add a anitcheat to a singleplayer game with some aspects of multiplayer adding money wouldn't give you any advantage just fixing your shit ecomony and btw a solid 50% of in game content is behind dlcs glad i didn't buy the game for a full price and on a 90% discount
If you want good rally game without stupid arcade- things this is it. Especially when taking off all nonsense on hud like corner arrows you just listen what copilot is telling you and drive. You focus on road ahead, not anything else on screen. That's why graphics isn't so big deal on racing games. They just provide good looking videos, but when playing you don't look sky, foliage, people etc. In rally it matters how smoothly game runs, so don't hesitate to put lower graphic settings. In speed there's nothing to watch anyway.
I got this cause it was on a heavy sale. Fun to play, get the GOTY edition cause it has all the DLCs as well. It is a bit difficult, very realistic. Can run on a potato PC as well. Recommend, if on sale (i.e. 90% to 80% off)
⭐⭐⭐
This game can be summarized in three words: racing for masochists. Possibly the hardest racing game ever, it's like driving on a narrow road covered with soap and the smallest mistake can ruin everything. It must be a lot more fun with a wheel but it is playable with a (decent) controller. Pretty much unplayable with keyboard, though, because controlling acceleration is essential in this game, full throttle all the time is madness! The only con of Dirt 2.0 is that your co-pilot only speaks English, despite some other voicelines being recorded in different languages, like the menu ones.
I enjoyed this game when I was playing with a Logitech G25, 980ti, on a Rift CV1. Now that I upgraded to a complete Moza system, Quest 3, Buttkicker, running on a 4090, It's even more immersive and looks absolutely awesome since I can run it with maxxed out settings.
if you want rall rall game that is simultaneously alright and also makes you want to violently kill yourself with a morrisons more card - step no further, this is it
Storage size is huge and has worse fps than the most realistic graphics I can get assetto to look like, with ai traffic.
Good game if you have an insane computer, with insane storage.
Also, this game goes on sale for like 2 bucks every once and a while, so if you want it just hold off on it until it's on sale.
Most realistic driving mechanics I've ever experienced, it just never get's old. Best racing experience I've had so far
Most fun driving game i have rn... fun physics and great compatability, I got iracing, dirt 3, forza horizon games, forza motorsport, assetto
Driving the Audi quattro group B is like trying to wrestle a gorilla juiced on viagra and cocaine
Still the best rally game on PC given EA WRC has plenty of issues (still) plus recently had an update that fucks over Linux users, while also being more "accessible" (ie minimal screwing around) than Richard Burns Rally, also vastly more immersive even if the physics model - especially on tarmac could do with some improvement.
That said, it's only worth buying if you have a wheel, a controller will provide a gimped experience - that's what the mainline DIRT games are for, designed for casual players who can sit back with a controller totally wasted after 20 shots of whiskey and who expect to win. DR 2.0 is intended to be a simulation and to that end *is* the Dark Souls of simulators, it demands perfection and precision which you get best from a wheel. And if you don't learn the basic dynamics of how a rally car functions within the first few hours you'll probably get filtered, frustrated and leave a bad review on what is otherwise an excellent rally game.
This game is great, but extremely difficult and unforgiving due to its realism. Not really meant for casuals unless they like a good challenge.
Okay, so, basically, the game is fun. BUT, it's hell on controller. Once you get to Pro level on rally career, the NPC times begin breaking the laws of physics, they'll take hairpins and square turns at like 100 mph, no joke, it almost becomes impossible, but I think that's the point. This game will infuriate you and FORCE you to learn, UNTIL... you finally start winning again. But then it's rinse and repeat. Enjoy, but be prepared to get pissed. (I also recommend starting in H1 FWD, H2 FWD, then go ahead and move up to R2, becomes a lot more fun but also more infuriating, then possibly group B so you start getting a feel for AWD, SAVE RWD FOR LAST, IT'S LIKE DRIVING ON ICE.) THE CARS DON'T F*****G TURN EITHER, NO MATTER HOW SLOW/FAST YOU'RE GOING.
EDIT: After nearly 40 hours in game, I wish I could get a refund.
Absolutely mental.. in a good way
Reminds me of the days i used to play Dirt 2
(Have about 200+hours in this)
Found myself spending days trying to master the driving of low power FWD cars. Got into a BMW and spent a couple days spinning out. Eventually got to a point where i can finish MOST races in it with decent time and decided to try the Stratos. Big mistake, hours of spinning out on corners xD
Overall an amazing game if you want a tough experience off road.
Played with Wheel/Pedals
Found myself always trying to improve and wanting harder cars and to try and push them more
what a joke. Finally finished the first rally competition and while in a loading screen right before i get my rewards i get a message telling me my "team rally season has been reset due to server synch". I got no rewards, no money, and the 5 hours of racing has all been reset, so no progression allowed. Why the hell does it need to constantly connect to their servers? Im racing against the games ai.
After getting 100% on this game, I'd give Dirt Rally 2.0 a thumbs up but with a [TRIPLE CAUTION] because despite the game being technically solid with what it does, I can't bring myself to recommend it to anyone who isn't looking for a severely punishing racing experience.
I initially hated this game. In the Rally mode cars felt terrible, tracks were annoyingly complex, events took hours to complete and there was no excitement to be found in any of the presentation to even pretend this game was supposed to be in any way fun. I thought the Rally Cross mode would spice things up, and while I found it less frustrating, by the end of each event I felt unfulfilled and empty. It didn't help that there is absolutely no reason for this game to be always online and the prospect of losing progress because of that loomed in the back of my mind the entire time I progressed further. Crash after crash, restart after restart, I was having an absolutely miserable time. Had I known it was going to be this way I would have never picked up this game.
Despite that, the completionist in me pushed on. I decided to pick off what achievements I could before I couldn't stand playing this game any longer. Most were easy, but some would take several, sometimes dozens of hours to obtain.
At no point did this game get more fun for me, However, I did gradually get better at it.
What I would consider the most difficult achievement in the game, "...Flatout", requires you to go through the Colin Mcrae Career mode, which is a series of 30 challenges you have to complete on the hardest difficulty. Each one requires near perfection from you in order to complete them. Through determination and gritted teeth I would lock in and spend dozens upon dozens of hours beating these challenges. In some cases I would even punch the air in satisfaction after completing a challenge I though was insurmountable.
I bring this up because this was the mode that pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of. I can't say the process of earning this achievement was enjoyable, It was an absolute endurance test. However the feeling I had after finally obtaining it wasn't nothing. I was not the same driver I was when I started this game and because of that, Dirt Rally 2.0 had earned my respect.
That being said, I don't think I'll be playing this game again out of choice. I would much rather play a game that cared more about me having actual fun. Though I hear the VR experience in this game is exceptional and I can see that, so I may come back to this game if I ever decide to get a VR headset.
This game isn't for the faint of heart. Only those looking for a big challenge, or the most masochistic of achievement hunters should consider picking up this game. If you're into more forgivable arcade racing games like me, perhaps consider skipping this one.
Oh, and for the record, I played on keyboard. So maybe that's why I mostly hated this game.
I have a complicated love-hate relationship with this game...
First of all, I am an arcade racing gamer. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this game, the driving style just can't suit with me.
I downloaded and uninstalled this game probably 5 times, and in the end....
I have to admit it. I love this game.
This game forced me to learn "try and error" process.
Spin, crash, blow out...
Just be patient for the new comer (though this game is quiet old).
Just trust the process....
An awesome rally game! Codemasters at their best. The amount of content is almost overwhelming.
good visuals, better physics and better cinematography comparing to dirt rally 1.0
IDK why I've purchased the game so late.
Hoping that next WRC gonna be something like this or even better.
Bad in comparrison with Dirt 3, no snow maps not buying additional content, playing with friends MAX 4, what is stupid and so on
Great Game. Its even better in vr. my only gripe is that that RWD is a bit unforgiving but thats mostly a skill issue. Everyother vehicle feels really nice to drive with great feedback between Terrains
If you're looking for a great real feel of rallydriving dynamics. this is the game
An amazing racing simulator. Fully customizable cars and settings. Career mode that's quite immersive and difficult. Is a bit lacking in tutorial and not noob friendly but very rewarding if you give it a chance to shine.
Future self, please don't re-download this. It's like 100GB, and you start it up, and you remember that every menu interaction results in a transition that says "CONNECTING TO SERVER...", and then you'll get over that part, and then you'll get invested, and then when the world around you melts and you achieve total immersion, the game crashes with an ACCESS_VIOLATION_ERROR right before another exhilarating race starts.
It's bs. You got "got". They scammed you. Move on. Find something better to do; this is just going to make you upset.
DiRT Rally 2.0 is what was supposed to be their spiritual successor to DiRT Rally. Overally the game delivers on expanding both the rallying and the rallycross aspects of their previous game. But digging deeper is where you will find it's flaws (listed in the Cons area). What makes this game not the spiritual successor what people makes it out to be. It's a solid game to play wwith your friends and have a laugh but i can't justify putting a thumbs up for it, but again it's not a super horrible experience so in my eyes it doesn't desserve the thumbs either (depends what you are looking for in a rally game) after putting 172 hours, and still counting due it's superb Rallycross mode. So all in all the game is between both, aka mid. For the rallying aspect this game makes me go back and visit it's original masterpiece DiRT Rally, where i feel the snow stages is more punishing and overall is a more polish experience compared to it's sequel.
Pros - Alot of content, the return of the DiRT Fish freeroam area. FIA World Rallycross license including the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Cons - Hate whatever bloom-filter they have used with oversaturated and washed out colours, made me motion sick in VR (i'm never getting motion sick really), the career mode is online only so that itself is a frustrating experience, and let us not talk about their copy/paste DLC formula where 90% of the rally locations (not Scottland) is direct port/remastered content from the first game. And even so the first game feels more unforgiving due to the snow banks can be driven through and is less punishing compared to the first game what takes away the realism
Graphics - 5/10
Gameplay - 6/10
Audio -8/10
Replayability - 7/10
Overall - 6/10, the only saving grace of this game is it's superb Rallycross mode, combined with online multiplayer can lead to some intense exciting racing
Based rally racing game
Doesn't use kernel level so works great on Linux with proton 8
No issues :)
This is simply great. Fast, responsive action, realistic handling on various surfaces, wonderful courses, good notes reading, nice graphics, good sound effects. One of my favorite racing simulations ever, even on a PS4 controller!
Extremely punishing at first, but absolutely rewarding once you get the hang of things. Love the presentation and polish (especially compared to the first game).
The in-game car marketplace's rotation system rubs me the wrong way, but it's not the worst thing in the world. Buy the GOTY version on sale.
Amazing game, very big career single player system
Dirt Rally 2.0 is the best VR experience in a rally sim to date. Even at over five years old now, the game looks great, and runs perfectly on modern hardware. Very challenging career mode, and still has an active and competitive online community. Technical and challenging rally stages. If I had to ask for any improvements, it's that I wish there were longer rally stages.
Great Rally Game. Like it better than WRC. Great physics and feedback.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is a thrilling racing game that has kept me engaged for 20 hours, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on this impressive title. As a fan of rally racing, I found the game to be a perfect blend of realism, challenge, and excitement.
From the moment I started playing, it was clear that Dirt Rally 2.0 prioritizes authenticity. The physics engine is incredibly detailed, making every turn and bump in the road feel realistic. The handling of each car varies significantly, requiring players to adapt their driving style based on the vehicle and terrain. This level of detail not only enhances immersion but also adds a layer of strategy as you must consider your car's capabilities when tackling different stages.
The graphics are stunning, with beautifully rendered environments that capture the essence of various rally locations around the world. Whether you're racing through the forests of New Zealand or the rugged terrains of Argentina, each setting feels alive and contributes to the overall experience. The sound design also deserves a mention; the roar of the engines and the crunch of gravel under tires create an exhilarating atmosphere.
One of my favorite aspects of Dirt Rally 2.0 is its focus on skill. Unlike many arcade-style racing games, this title demands precision and patience. Each race feels like a test of your abilities, pushing you to improve with every attempt. The time trials and competitive events provide ample opportunities to hone your skills and compete against others, which adds to the game's replayability.
However, it’s worth noting that Dirt Rally 2.0 can be quite challenging for newcomers. The steep learning curve may be daunting at first, but it ultimately rewards persistence and practice. Once you get the hang of it, the satisfaction of mastering a difficult stage is incredibly rewarding.
In conclusion, Dirt Rally 2.0 is a fantastic rally racing simulator that offers an authentic and immersive experience for fans of the genre. With its realistic physics, stunning visuals, and challenging gameplay, it stands out as one of the best in its class. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true rally experience that will keep you coming back for more!
Physics are complete and utter rubbish and are as far from real-life rallying physics as humanly possible in DIRT Rally 2.0 no matter how much you tweak the settings, the steering is constantly fighting against you and attempting to return to the centre whilst being extremely twitchy and you struggle to maintain slides which should be achievable in most RWD cars. Whether you are on bone-dry tarmac or loose gravel, you constantly feel as if you are driving across a sheet of ice with little to no grip available. The screen contrast and saturation looks like its been deep-fried in every Snapchat filter in existence and you cannot adjust this. A poor attempt at continuing the DIRT Rally series, if you want to experience a truly realistic rally simulator please stick to DIRT Rally 1 or Richard Burns Rally.
Better than EA Rally games hands down. Game really makes you feel like you're progressing where EA makes you feel like you're part of the glitchmob squad
The BEST rally sim I know, I wish that the C4 had that iconic redbull livery and the Focus RS had the Abu Dhabi livery :) Fun game nonetheless.
great realistic car control pyshics. 4 player game as well .great grahics a nd lots of changing seenery and grip factors.
pretty good except for the awful awful cut scenes and loading screens that seem to serve no purpose. However I was actually able to play multiplayer with my friends. that is... up until recently. Now multiplayer no longer works for me or my friends. It seems to be some problem server side at codemasters...big bummer. Can't play it. should receive a refund.
Amazing experience. Extremely high attention to detail in every category. Cars sound amazing, the stages are beautiful, the experience is true to the rally discipline. Must play for all car and racing sim enthusiasts.
This game is a lot of fun and addictive. i'm playing it in both modes (VR and normal). The VR mode is good,I'm using Quest 3 in VR mode. If you have a moderate quality steering wheel and a powerful PC. I play it with a controller but only in normal mode, using it in VR is terrible. First time i've had a pretty bad motion sickness but with the right settings (especially going towards more FPS) i was feeling good. For the money I've paid, it is a good deal.
A true classic of rally games. It works flawlessly on everything – on a monitor, in VR headsets, with head tracking (opentrack), with a gamepad, with steering wheels. Great physics, graphics, and optimization. I just wish there were more locations.
DiRT Rally is a must-play for fans of realistic racing simulations. The game delivers an authentic off-road experience with its stunning visuals, challenging tracks, and precise handling. Each car feels unique, demanding mastery of different driving techniques to tackle varying terrains and weather conditions. Whether you're a seasoned rally veteran or new to the genre, DiRT Rally offers an exhilarating and rewarding challenge. The attention to detail, from the physics to the dynamic environments, makes it one of the most immersive rally games out there.
Iconic cars from the first game and locked behind paywalls and now your career mode is online only, just had my almost complete championship with 99% 1st place positions reset because of a "data discrepancy".
If you ever have the slighest interuption in connectivity kiss your progress goodbye. There isnt even a meaningful point to the online aspect or progress its absolutely pointless.
im redownloading the older game with all the iconic group rally cars and collin mcraes cars for free! i wish i could refund this game
Solid performance, very well optimized. Worth it especially if on sale, since it doesn't cost a lot then. The game has some pretty great graphics, few of the best I've seen.
9/10
Dirt Rally 2.0 undoubtedly is one of the best rally racing game out there.
The rally racing experience with Dirt Rally 2.0 was superb. Every one should play this one first to experience the real fun of rally racing. Need a controller/driving wheel for full fun. Don't ruin this by trying to play with the keyboard.
Every car feels so good to drive. But remember, every car has its own mechanism of control. So, master them.
Every location is beautiful. The visuals are so mesmerizing. It's hard to decide to play the game or enjoy the beautiful game world Dirt Rally 2.0 offered.
Optimization is also good. With maxed-out settings, getting 60 FPS constant. But in some areas, FPS goes down a bit.
Grab the game with ALL DLC's available. You will not regret it.
Happy Gaming.
