Gameplay Mechanics: The core of Trine 4's gameplay lies in its seamless blend of platforming and puzzle-solving. Each hero possesses unique abilities that are crucial for advancing through the game:

Initially seemed kinda boring, but a whole bunch of mechanics were added in later levels like platform freezing, beam puzzles, etc. Overall the game feels a bit long. I know I'm 4.5 hours in, but I seriously can't play it for too long.
This is the game they figured everything out. It feels really good to play. Like, really good. Puzzling around and switching between characters was seamless! I didn't mind how cliche the overall story was because the mechanics feel super polished and well put together. Also it fits wall in the established universe, so can't really fault them for that. But yeah! Boy oh boy, pick up for the mechanics alone!

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is a welcome return to form for the franchise. After the misstep of Trine 3's foray into 3D, Trine 4 returns to the 2.5D puzzle-platforming that made the series a hit in the first place. The game's charming art style, engaging puzzles, and fun co-op gameplay make for a delightful experience that's sure to please fans of the series. While the combat can feel a bit simplistic at times, and the game is relatively short, overall Trine 4 is a solid entry in the series and a must-play for fans of puzzle-platformers. 💖
Good with friends but a sale worthy game.
My 9 year old daughter and I played the entire game through and loved it.
One of the best platformers I've ever played. Beautiful and cinematic.
Good:
- The devs really improved on their UI which was one of the worst features of their previous games
- Puzzles are great as always, really up to players' imagination how to solve them
- Character design reworks look amazing
- Nice to see the cast from Nine Parchments again
Bad:
- Trine 3 easter egg is sooooo corny and dumb. Could've given a proper ending to that game instead
- Would be perfect if the game was slightly more difficult, both in combat and puzzles

Very good! Nice game for a family. We fully completed the game with my kid and enjoyed it a lot, now down for a 5th one.
Trine 4 is the pinnacle of fairy tale gaming, combining mesmerizing visuals with seamless gameplay. With three distinct characters, each possessing extraordinary abilities, it delivers breathtaking graphics and engaging puzzles.
My first game in this series. The game is about 10 hours worth, a bit shorter than I prefer, but the game has high replayability. It is slightly different when you are playing with different number of players (single, 2P, 3P, 4P), good for couples, family and friends. The devs also surprised me with playable Main Menu lol
Finally they reverted their absurd camera choices and we can have our fun back again. Puzzles are nice, powers are more or less same (wizard still can't do magic but other two can do everything lol) and the game has its moments.
There are small improvements from previous games but at least they managed to protect series' uniqueness. I wish there were more complex puzzles and new powers instead of relearning everything from scratch each game.
Boss fights are fun mini-puzzles, most of the time very easy to solve. Gameplay is smooth, no bugs encountered at all. Story rhymes along with the game so it's a relaxing experience overall. Definitely recommend for co-op (actually the whole series except 3rd).

Overall, it's one of the better games in this series.
The fairy tale aesthetic is visually stunning, the puzzles are fun and it's a great time with friends. However, the story feels like it's just there to bind the levels together, the combat feels like it interrupts a level's flow and in online play, players need to set their skills again in every session, which is annoying.
100% achievement completion boils down to finishing a casual playthrough and then backtracking for a collectathon through all base game levels. You're able to see exactly at which point in the level you missed something, so 100%ing this is easy and fun. DLC is not required for 100%.
An enjoyable co-op puzzle platformer with a bit of action. The level designs of the DLC are the best part.

Trine games from 1-3 have been boring though this has been the only only so far that's worth its money.
Amazing, lovely continuation of the story and lovely sidescroling cinematic gameplay like trine 1 and 2.
Wonderful graphics. The game is mostly about stories & solving maze. Relaxing.
Sorry Frozenbyte but I just can't see the logic of expanding Trine beyond its third installment.
I love this game, simple but good enough to keep my brain sharp, lol
You guys reeeeeally gave up at the end. Also, fix your checkpoints - not a single person enjoys being stomped by a battle, only to have to go back and do a janky-ass physics puzzle again. I give this two thumbs down, and may god have mercy on your souls.
The graphics are great, the walking forward never ends while playing...

Play with friends, trine it out
If you're worried after the disaster that was Trine 3, don't be. This one is just as good - no, better than the first two. It's gorgeous as always, has a charming plot and characters, and most importantly it's fun and well-programmed. This is my favorite Trine for a reason.
If you loved Trine and Trine 2, you will be thrilled to play Trine 4. They returned to the original formula that made Trine 1 & 2 so amazing.
