Быть злодеем не всегда легко… Но насколько же это веселее, чем быть хорошим! В эти не слишком темные времена моей команде совсем не помешает кто-нибудь такой же остроумный, как вы.
Позвольте мне уточнить. Все в Даркествилле было просто чудесно: мои проделки лишали горожан спокойной жизни, а горожане лишались спокойной жизни из-за моих проделок… Все было честно! Кому это могло не нравиться? Точно не мне!
…так было до тех пор, пока этот кретин, Дэн Типот не нанял отряд профессиональных охотников на демонов, чтобы избавиться от меня! Вы представляете? Я даже не знаю, почему он так на меня взъелся. Может, я и спалил его дом пару раз, но я ведь сделал это только потому, что это было чертовски весело!

P.S. Вы что, уже дрожите от страха? Правильно делаете, потому что эта игра не только СТРАШНО интересная, но и СТРАШНО смешная! Если вы играли в классические квесты Тима Шейфера и любите черный юмор Тима Бёртона, вы поймете, о чем я говорю, ведь эти два Тима — мои бро.
Конечно, я не был бы Сидом, если бы не добавил к этому пару десятков хитроумных загадок и головоломок, так что не ждите лёгкой прогулки. Поговаривают, что мою игру можно пройти часов за семь… Что ж, попробуйте! Впрочем, я в вас верю — моя невероятная харизма и чувство стиля с лихвой компенсируют любые трудности.

Nice little Point&Click Adventure.
Not by any means a genre defining alltime Classic, but simply entertaining and charming nevertheless. I think it's pretty good and fun for what it's worth.
Solid game, I can't really say anything bad about it and it is probably the most underrated point and click games I have played. I have pretty much never seen it recommended or as part of top point and click lists. I randomly picked it up in a bundle with having never heard of it before.
It has a very Monkey Island style flow and has a lot of Monkey Island style humor. There is a bit of moon logic, but generally the puzzles are pretty fair. Most of the puzzles will click if you examine the item or talk to a specific character, but others you may have to brute force or look up a solution.
Voice acting, artwork, and animation are all very good. The voice acting especially is much better than I expected. I would say this is a must play and while maybe not in the top spot it would be in the in the top twenty for modern point and click games.
Cool game. Reminds of old adventures of the 90's.
I played with Russian audio, even though I don't speak the language, as it sounded and felt more fun. Kinda like the Russian animated film of "Treasure Island", so you get what I'm saying.
Puzzles may seem difficult or obscure, but the key for the vast majority of them is in the dialogues, item descriptions (when Cid looks at something or tries to use it) and any other text you may encounter. If you connect the hints in those, you won't need any help to finish the game. Lot's of objects do not matter so don't go trying everything on anything.
It took me 9 hrs and 44 mins to finish the game, with a lot of idle time included.
A game that seems to be inspired by Curse of Monkey Island, one of my favourite games. If you've never played it before you must, but also play Darkestville Castle because it's a fun game.
I received this game as a freebie when I bought Unusual Findings, but surprisingly I think I enjoyed this game more. The puzzles feel more logical to me, and the game doesn't suffer as much from multiple location syndrome (as there are fewer locations). I also found the characters more enjoyable in this game, perhaps because the voice acting seems to fit better.
Unfortunately it stumbles a little in the third chapter and the finale, because of some "combine everything with everything else" puzzles (which I hate) and interactions on a timer (which I also hate).
Still, a decent point & click adventure despite these flaws.

Тут генерал идет.
— А это что такое, солдат? Что это у вас за безобразие?
— Так это ж, товарищ генерал этот, ионный отражатель!
— Хм… Так я вижу, что ионный отражатель. Почему не окрашен?
Whilst this game is OK in a lot of ways, and whilst the devs certainly deserve a lot of credit for how they've copied some very key components from The Curse of monkey Island, the game still misses the mark unfortunately.
Two things stop it from going from average to good. Firstly, the puzzles lack both imagination and trailing. A lot of the puzzles I solved I did so because they just seemed the obvious thing to do, not because the game provided me with much motivation to do these things. It feels unsatisfying.
Secondly, whilst it is certainly funny at times, it's predictably funny too. It can feel formulaic, and the humour is just too flat too often. What doesn't help with that is that the dialogue tree pans out incredibly predictably too, conversation after conversation (select from top to bottom, and move on)
It is OK though, but I lost interest fairly early. Best analogy I can think of, is that if The Curse of Monkey Island is to comedy P&CA games what Airplane is to comedy films, then Darkestville Castle is Men With Brooms. It's OK, but not all that either.
A noble attempt, but an average game.

Other than that it's pretty OK, the only annoying thing is that when you click on the hotspot you got ALL 3 options available to you interact/examine/TalkTo and that does not mean you can do either of them that's a confusing bummer for the game.
Darkestville Castle is a very solid point&click adventure game with full voice-over, lots of puzzles, many locations, and a playtime of around 10 hours.
The Story
Cid, the demon of Darkestville just wants to work a bit on his to-do list of evil deeds, when his arch-nemesis Dan Teapot locks him into his castle. As if that wasn't enough hassle, three demon hunters arrive in Darkestville, and that isn't even the worst news of the day for Cid.
Cid is your classic anti-hero, always a sarcastic comment on his non-existing lips, who will grow on you over the course of the game. His voice actor does a stellar job, and I greatly enjoyed his banter. Humor is often hit or miss, but Darkestville Castle, in my opinion, manages a consistently humorous tone without getting too silly.
Darkestville is "puzzle-driven", the story-line mainly provides obstacles for Cid to overcome, so don't expect too much depth, although there's even a bit of character growth for Cid if you squint the right way.
The Gameplay
You have an inventory that automatically opens when you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, and you drag items to hotspots to combine them. You can interact with hotspots in one of three ways, "grabbing", looking, and talking. You move around by pointing & clicking, but you can also quickly move from scene to scene by clicking on the "exit"-arrow, which brings you to an overview map.
There's a nice mix of inventory and dialogue puzzles that make sense, at least in Darkestville. There is no in-game help beyond a hotspot viewer but listening to item descriptions or listening to a few dialogues again helped me the few times when I felt a bit stuck.
Criticism
I praised the voice acting of the main characters in the game, but some of the voice acting of a couple of minor characters was mediocre at best. There was also some inconsistency with the volume of the voices. In several situations some of the voices were very quiet compared to other voices or the background music.
Summary
I spent an enjoyable 10 hours with Cid, the demon. Darkestville Castle is maybe not the most memorable adventure game I've ever played but it is a very solid puzzle-driven point&click adventure game with just one minor flaw, an inconsistent voice volume in a handful situations.
There's a demo that you can check out to see if the humor and gameplay are your cup of tea, but in my opinion, if you like adventures for the puzzles, you won't regret buying Darkestville Castle.
good story, funny, good graphics, good voice acting, everything's good except 1 thing: it uses autos ave so if you want to go back you have to start from the beginning.
