Reviewed on Steam Deck
This game plays perfectly on Steam Deck and gives solid battery performance as would be expected from a point and click adventure.
Unfortunately the game isn’t as accomplished as its predecessor. The story isn’t quite as interesting and the ending feels rather abrupt. On the plus side I prefer the voice actress for Nicole in this one over the original.
The art style holds up very well, much better that later point and click classics such as The Longest Journey, especially the character models. It’s a shame Charles felt the need to add character faces to the top of the screen for this version of the game because the artwork doesn’t match up to the awesome original work.
There is a nice bonus prequel comic that includes an anachronistic television set as well.
If you enjoyed the recently released remake of Broken Sword Reforged I would recommend this follow up.
8/10
Cool game, definitely of it's time but holds up surprisingly well as a game, though the first one had more charm. The last Nico puzzle is annoying mainly due to the back and forth nature and the speed the game works at. And the audio mixing gets a little crazy during the cut scenes as well. Solid 6.5/7 out of 10
Never mind the other complaints, the real issue that makes this game borderline unplayable is that the terrible audio mixing makes it painful to play.
One minute a character is talking out of both audio channels, then it's just the left audio channel, then it's just the right audio channel...
I'm guessing at some point the idea was to have the character on the left use the left channel and the character on the right use the right channel as if in some poor attempt at mimicking 3D audio, but somewhere along the way the channels have become so muddled up that it's actually difficult to concentrate on what's actually being said.
How on earth the game got released with such a glaring and awful mistake boggles my mind.
A charming point and click adventure game with mostly sensible puzzles and an in-game hint system in case you were stuck.
One of my favorite games when I was a kid! Playing this again takes me right back to childhood, reminding me of its captivating world and classic adventure feel. Some aspects might feel a bit clunky today, but that only adds to the nostalgic charm.
Here are a few things I loved about the game.
Great Storytelling: The South American jungle setting and mysterious Mayan artifacts are just as exciting and intriguing as I remember.
Charming Characters: George and Nico’s chemistry is still a standout, filled with humor and memorable interactions.
Classic Puzzles: The puzzles are fun and satisfying, although a few can be challenging, just like when I was younger.
Atmospheric Design: The hand-drawn art and music evoke a sense of wonder and adventure, perfect for reliving old memories.

Absolute classic. Played it for the first time roughly 25 years ago on PSI and come back to it every now and then.
Perfect classic game, with a great puzzles
First time playing this through again since 1997. That's 27 years!
I remembered most of what to do, but needed a guide to help with some bits. I don't remember it being that short all those years ago, but perhaps it was?
Great edition of this old gem.
Brilliant game to play. Amusing and fun , puzzles are not too complicated.
