Running is a war crime in this game. Super bad idea. The ai is as unfair as it gets. the first hitman was shit too but at least you dont get fucked for no reason whatsoever. screw this sequal. Aside from that the game is fun but dont think that you can be an assassin all the time, sometimes its just not worth it . The Ai will see you from 2 Km away. Even on the lowest difficulty so i cannot imagine what can be harder than this.
this game was and still great, i used to play it back then, bought it recently and i was surprised how good it is, it didn't disappoint me,i played the new hitman world of assassination, it was mid, but this masterpiece is amazing, i really recommend buying it, unless you care about graphics then don't

same problem which hitman 1 had game wasnt starting at first after resolving issue when i was entering first misssion cutscenes was not triggering thus i couldnt get pass first level i tried many things nothing worked
The best Hitman game hands down. Just make sure you lock your FPS otherwise you cannot move. Turns out the games doesn't like being ran at 10,000 FPS
Amazing game! 👏
masterpiece
So many good missions on a classic game
amazing game but it doesnt work on this PC port
game doesn't work
Terrible dosn't run
Going into this, I thought this would be the game where Hitman franchise started to get really good, but while it does do some things better than the original, it does many things about the same, or even worse. Personally, I prefer the art style of the skyboxes in the levels Hitman: Codename 47 better because they feel more moody and less empty, but the level design, story telling and depth are certainly better in this title. However, the game design of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is certainly not perfect either. The game suffers from a lack of player feedback, for example the boundries between what is considered trespassing is often ill-defined and the guards have no chill if you do something even the slightest bit suspicious for a second. Speaking of, running anywhere near a guard will make them immediately suspicious and they'll start mag-dumping you without remorse; it's sort of the running joke of this game. Compounding this issue is that the walking speed is already so slow, and a snail swimming in molasses might as well be faster than sneaking in this game. It makes stealth as an option almost impossible unless there's an enemy standing stationary and looking away from you for a sufficient amount of time, which is somewhat of a rare occurrence.
But with this said, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is not a terrible game, just a slightly below mediocore one that makes you wish it was just ironed out a little bit more. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin has a great story and reassuring conclusion, and the the level selection is diverse and requires a good amount of logical thinking. If you're a Hitman newbie I would rather recommend the latter title in the franchise Hitman: Contracts over this for sure, but if your at least a somewhat seasoned Hitman enjoyer then this game and the previous title are worth some of your time.

great classic stealth game
This game is a significant improvement over the previous title indeed, I was able to finish it in about 10 hours, and pretty sure you can actually finish it in less if you are not obsessed with getting the silent assassin rating as I was.
Although it's a great game and a fun ride, the only reasons that made me finish it (again) in 2025 is nostalgia and OCD, I have been around when it came out and I was able to finish it as a kid, back then this was peak gameplay and recall every nerd I knew falling in love with it.
I recently decided to get into Hitman WoA and to do so I decided to finish every single Hitman game (fuck Codename 47, though) due to my OCD, so by no means you should consider this game as a must play, as it has its own cons too.
Pros:
1- The pacing of the story is a step up in my opinion, we finally get a personality and a little bit of development to agent 47 also Diana is finally voiced.
2- Controls now are way better than the previous game, and the game-play overall feels like a genuine step up.
3- I don't really care much for graphics unlike other people, but if that matters, it's a step up in this game as well, the art direction is way better too and lighting effects are much better than the previous game.
4- Doubling the location sizes and adding way more freedom added lots of replayability value, unlike the first game was mostly linear and couldn't find it's identity between a TPS simulator and a stealth game.
5- You can finally avoid killing innocent people and act as you please unlike the first game which again, was forcing your hand to act in certain ways.
6- Added lots of weapons and new animations which I certainly appreciate, although I mostly either used a silencer or the wires anyway.
Cons:
1- The Ai in this game ( as others mentioned) is a fucking nightmare, you can prove this by saving near a guard and re-loading multiple times, you can either get caught up in fire or just continue walking as normal, randomness will shit on you.
2- I can't even describe the amount of bugs in this game, items will fly when you drop them, bodies fly when shot with a gun lol, people can literally walk through walls, enemies can sometimes spot you through solid walls.
3- Bombs will kill you through walls.
4- The disguise system is just random most of the time and enemies will shoot at you in unrealistic cringe manner out of no where
5- Sniper guards in this game just insta-kill you on first sight even if you are running most of the time. like wtf was that lol
6- The story still left a lot to be desired and some concepts where never explained which leaves a gap in my heart but hopefully that will be covered in upcoming titles.
7- The game is extremely short and you can finish it in on sitting.
-Do you need to play it?
Not really.
-Will you enjoy it?
Depends.
-Does it deserve the current price?
It's like $0.5 on sale alongside the rest of the old titles so I would say wait for that and get them all at once.
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is a monumental leap in quality from the first game in the series, but it's so dated now and it will frustrate with it's costume system where guards can figure out you are an assassin way too quickly. Thankfully, the game can be beaten "All guns blazing", but it's no where near as fun and thoughtful to play it this way.
Also, the soundtrack is Jesper Kyd on top form. "47 Makes A Decision" is one of the best videogame theme tunes of all time.
But can you play it on modern hardware without hiccups? Not really. Also, there is no controller support. In short, probably best to skip to Blood Money to see the best in what Classic Hitman has to offer.
Clunky from time to time, but the levels are very fun.
The disguise system is actually really complex for such an old game and it's complexity is the reason many wonder why the AI is so unfair so let's break it down.
-Your suspicion meter rises if you're running
Realistically if you are a guarding someone and you see someone behaving odd like full on sprinting for no reason abandoning their post you'd assume they aren't a body guard.
-The suspicion meter rises if you're looking at someone
this isn't hard to imagine but agent 47 doesn't fit in every country as the average person because of his facial features, and if you were guarding a VERY high priority individual every guard should've been familiarized with eachother.
And how do you eliminate this? simple, you hug the walls looking away from guards and as for running you can hold the sprint button and tap a movement key. You're essentially running with animations resetting which doesn't alert the guards as would full on running.
Aside from that the maps are a pain in the ass, most of the maps are large no, TOO large for the game and it results in too few npc's filling the game world. there are also maps that are just nightmares to silent assassin because unlike in future entries at most you have 1 or 2 ways to eliminate someone by interacting with the environment, the biggest example being the missions A hidden valley, because it's the same mission stretched out over 3 maps with insane security and guards posted EVERYWHERE, you have snipers that can see a very long distance, ninjas that camp on top of frames and guards who run to ID you if they see you. Now on the hardest difficulty without any saves? i'd throw my pc out the window. But the game is still a lot better than codename 47.
Light 7/10
i love it
An upgrade of the predecessor!
-Walked funny and got shoot at
-Stood too near a guard and got shoot at
-Stared at the guard and got shoot at
-Ran near a guard and got shoot at
Hitman 2 is a getting shoot at simulator where you discover various ways and trivial reasons to get shoot by the guards. Your primary objective is to not get shoot by anyone and survive the level. Highly recommended.

Brokenware. Unplayable. Guess I won't be playing through this franchise.
it looks like a good game but i quit after the EXTREMELY Long credits screen. yeah don't buy the game
I used to love this game. one of my favorite memories growing up but this game is not letting me move when i get into the game and also the game cut scenes just go black.
This game was so far ahead of its time, its crazy. The score, the gameplay, the story, everything. It was definitely groundbreaking for that era and it holds such beautifully nostalgic memories for me. The newer era of Hitman is also a masterpiece and later games after this entry are more updated and refined. However, this game still stands the test of time as one of the best ever made.
Feels rather clunky, especially compared to the modern Hitman trilogy, but it's cool to see how the series used to be and the game has quite a few cool ideas that aren't present in the more recent games. Pretty much any guard will notice you if you hang around them too much or if you sprint anywhere near them (at least you can awkwardly hold sprint and tap forward to go faster) and taking down enemies without killing them takes ages. The gameplay is ultimately alright, the music is fantastic, the story is overall kinda whatever (it's a Hitman game), and visually the game doesn't look half bad for it's age. I did run into a number of bugs which I assume are moreso to blame on this version of the game.

huge upgrade from the first game. there's a much more linear storyline this time. missions are super varied, environments are more baked and well-made, and you get a lot of freedom to do things your way.
controls are still a little stiff, and the ai does some weird stuff sometimes, but it’s a lot smoother than before. it's easier now to figure out what to do. it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s a classic for a reason. if you played the first one, this feels like a appropriate, more polished upgrade. 6/10
sucks
great game
Best Game
yes
Best game ever
Definitely better than the first game.
Better graphics, functions, and there's actual saves.
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is an improvement over its predecessor in every possible way. With significantly better stealth, better level design, creative ways to complete missions, and improved AI behavior, nearly every flaw with the previous game has been fixed. Along with this, the addition of limited saves in every mission has eliminated so much of the frustration that came from Codename 47. With that being said, there are still some annoyances. For instance, the AI is almost too good; they can sometimes detect you way too easily. Yet, with the addition of a save system, this isn't as much of an annoyance as it could have been. Overall, Silent Assassin is a fantastic game that still holds up pretty well. For fans of the stealth genre, I'd suggest giving this a try.
You know coming back to this game from when I first played it back when I was a child back in the early 2000's you'd think I would of gotten a lot better at it. While now yes that is true in some extent I still had to play like I was rambo for the most part and not a silent assassin since the social stealth has lots of rules to follow if you wanted to pull it off right, but it's still very janky and even just being near another person in the same disguise for 0.0000001 seconds would cause them to open fire and alert all nearby people which would also consist of the entire level, so really you just have to avoid all people like a true introvert does.
But I'm still glad I came back to this and was able to see the credits finally after so long, would I recommend? I mean if you really can pull off stealth/social stealth and complete the missions without the whole level trying to hunt you down, then yes 100% if you're up for that challenge as it's still possible to do so or just fuckin pull out an M60 since it goes brrrr and make all you're problems disappear very fast hahaha!
My very first hitman game. Classic.

Amazing HITMAN game
9/10
- because of those stupid contraversy the indian mission got a massive change because of that they have lost there charm anyway i would say play this game on the PIRATE COPY since it did not lose its charm at all
Not bad, one of the first games to implement character shadows and full-body awareness. My respects.
Wonderful experience! Much better from the 1st Hitman game, the controls are improved, the overal graphics and gameplay are really good the story is amazing! This game has aged really well!
This game was my jam back in the day, I played it obsessively, I silent assasined everything.
And it aged like rotten milk.
Look, we are not hurting for quality Hitman content nowadays. If you're new to the series - play Contracts, play Blood Money, play the reboot trilogy. Hеll, you could consider giving Absolution a shot before even thinking of touching the first two games in the series, because they barely function.
The broken AI of this game is the stuff of legends. They open fire if you sprint for five seconds, they open fire if you look at them funny, they open fire just because they feel like it sometimes. And there is no reliable way to knock out someone using anesthetic – only the RNG gods know if the guy in front of you will freak out at the last possible second or not. And they freak out way more often than not. I have a suspicion that this is 60 FPS bug or something, because I don’t remember it being that way, but it is very annoying nonetheless.
And all of that exercise in frustration honestly would be forgivable if level design was good, but it’s really not all that. There are around 6 missions out of 21 of them that are even remotely Hitman quality, and by Hitman quality I mean barely passable, none of them are going to the hall of fame anytime soon. Even Codename 47 kinda wins this round because it at least has Tradition of the Trade level in it. The rest are either comically simple, limited and short, or huge giant empty wastelands devoid of Hitman gameplay entirely. The Hidden Valley retroactively approaches Hunt Down The Freeman level of quality and I’m not joking.
I can recommend this game either to die-hard fans who MUST finish anything Hitman or to those interested in videogame history. And even then – don’t even bother to do Silent Assassin, it’s really not worth it.

No go on my win 11 machine. Game is too old it seems.
very jank but kinda fun in a way
6.5/10
Great game but pretty much unplayable without mods in my experience. Badly needs a rerelease.
Massive step up in every way from the original. Introduces a detection meter, a toggle sprint button, save mechanic, more weapons, more missions and more freedom. Not nearly as janky and buggy as the first in terms of controls and AI detection. Great story, Jesper Kyd kills it on the soundtrack once again. Some missions aren't great but I didn't find myself struggling as much to get through them as I did with the worst of Codename 47.
