so what that it is a mobile port
nice little tower defense game with huge number of levels
well worth picking up
for even better resolution try disabling fullscreen using borderless gaming software available on steam
Absolutely wonderful.
Really can't recommend this one, a lackluster effort, sub-par and rather bland.
This is a tower defense game, which is nice because not everything advertised as one actually is, but that's about the best that can be said for it.
There is no pathing, and the maps I played (about the first twelve) were boring.
You get four types of units, towers, heroes, support units and after the first few levels a giant mech that stands at the end.
The towers are basic, and lack creativity. Even worse, they in no visible change when they are upgraded. The graphics only show four directions, so it all looks very clunky. There are few options in upgrading, and every tower type appears to be identical when maxed.
The heroes are cute to look at, but really offer very little in the way of game play, aside from the fact that you can move them around the map.
The support units are the weakest, like weak heroes that you can place, and that only exist for a short period of time before vanishing, if they live that long.
The mech unit offers two tactical options, a cannon ball, and a machine gun burst.
The card collection aspect of the game is also weak. There are no choices or options, they simply incrementally improve the matching unit or tower type. There is no combining them, they don't play off each other in away way, they are simply a weak mechanism for upgrading that could have easily been replaced with experience points for all the blandness. They don't even work well and internal info contradicts itself, in total confusion.
As such, the game gets very grindy early on, as you try to build up your cards, but even this gets difficult fast as the early levels get harder faster than your units gets stronger.
The shaving cream atop the mud pie is the complete lack of personality. The game has cute (but repetitive) art, there is no fluff connected to the heroes, the villains or the units, and the story is nearly non-existent. (Really curious if there is any backstory to the villainous unit that has spider legs and a baby dolls head. We may never know,)
I would give this one a pass, even if you found it for free, as there is little to no fun to be had. The sad thing is it wouldn't have taken genius to make it fun, only a little effort. Even a cookie-cutter tower-defense game would be better if it had all the pieces.
Good time waster and not always easy to pass the first time round. Not as good as the first game where you can buy cards and there is some chances to get random cards and abilities, cards are pretty much fixed and no chance to buy any. Still graphics are better.
First it must be said that this game looks fantastic. The 2d graphics and illustrations are beautiful. The aesthetic theme is consistent and on point. Stereo7, you should thank your artists for any sales this game has!
Sadly other than the art, the game is not very good. After the early levels someone gave up on balancing the rest of the maps. The game is way too easy. There are broken achievements, control issues, tower balance problems and dubious game design choices.
But the big problem is still the difficulty after the first ten levels. The difficulty breaks down. The game becomes a snoozefest. The aoe-tower is broken balance-wise, and only having one tower for flying units kills any remaining strategy. There are just no strategy choices to be made.
The game also randomly plucks one card from your tower loadout after each round so you have to find it and put it back in. The funny thing is that I don't even believe it's a bug, just some game designers idea of forcing players into trying out new towers/skills. It's hillariously bad!
I think you'll get 5-10 hours out of this game because of the fair chunk of levels. if you are looking for anything challenging, look elsewhere.
Again, big props to the artists. This games doe not deserve to look this good.
By at your own risk.
The achievements are broken, the game doesn't give any description of anything.
The survival mission I think is a joke.
I beat the game around 14 hours but I was playing a mobile game at the same time & I replayed all levels 2 times to level up.
Pros:
I like the enemy designs
I didn't dislike playing the game.
It's a simple TD.
Can't beat the price when it's on sale.
Cons:
The game was OK
The mechanics some times feel still "mobile" compatible.
The game gives zero description of all enemies.
The game really could probably be beat without ever repeating any level (so easy).
there is only one word to describe this game and thats terrible oh maybe horrible too :)
The concept is fun, by grinding level to level, and get all gear improved.
However, this game is a rubbish cheat actually.
If you grind a level again and again, it became more and more difficult.
For instance, lv 9, passees 3 tims with 2 level 3 flame tower at cross, and the rest are basic gunslingers.
Then the same setting with hero level up to 3, it never passed.
Let along the broken achievement.
It was a fun little diversion for a very low price. Can't recommend though as 4 out of 10 achievements are broken and don't trigger even though the game is 100% and units max level. No feedback from developers either.
Pretty much more of the same with a few refinements (ie the card system has been automated).
I am having fun - if you enjoyed the first, you should enjoy this.
At $1.99 you can't go too wrong.
