This is an amazing bowling game for virtual reality with realistic physics and cool graphics. It's a great way to surprise your friends and have fun with the company playing a classic bowling game without leaving your home.
The physical model of this game is very detailed. It simulates the real ballistics of bowling ball. So you can throw the ball over a complex envelope trajectory for best results, just like professionals do.

Early Access
After release of patch 002 our main goal is to finish Challenges game mode to bring crazy fun to bowling game! Solve physical puzzles to win the challenges. Throw the balls via moving platforms, giant clown's head, circus tent and many other amazing obstacles!
And finally we will release crossplatform multiplayer game mode! Because it’s really fun to play this game with your friends and other players from around the world!

Well, I spent the first round following proper bowling technique and performed just as poorly as I do in real life Great, I thought.
then I discovered I could literally overarm throw the balls down the alley like superman, or a flick of the wrist sends the ball hurtling down the alley like being shot out of a gun....
so bit more effort in the physics please devs
This has the potential to be an incredible bowling game but there's still much to be done. Unfortunately in its current state it's hardly playable and it appears it's been abandoned by the developer. That's a shame because you can see how much promise this actually has. It's technically playable but the physics are wildly wonky, In it's current state I can't recommend this one.
It's not a bad game. It has its flaws, but which game doesn't? It just didn't feel right to me personally. I'd accidentally toss a ball too high, and it'd come smashing down to the grown instantly. No matter how hard or soft you toss the ball, it rolls the same exact way. That's what I didn't like most about this game. Looks great, plays great, functions ok.
I would reccommend. But there are few issues, the game on some maps runs like trash. And it gets annoying after a while. Some of the physics are also not the greatest but the game is like $20 so I didn't expect a whole lot.
Its amazing the graphics, realism, and they nicly designed bowling alleys. my only problem is the ball and pin physcs the pins go crazy and you thoow a 12lb ball at 45mph
but overall great
Overall I recommend this game however, they need to add free movement (forward, backward, turn) or at least a centering button as this is what keeps me from playing this game more often. It's way too hard to turn using the current system of "teleport movement". If there was a rating scale I would rate this 4 out of 10 but just with better movement, it would be 9 out of 10. That's how dramatic the lack of movement is. If I am mistaken and there is something I can do in settings, please tell me as the lack of ability to move or center really makes this otherwise awesome game hard to play.
I saw this game on a YouTube review and was pissed that it wasn't available for the only VR headset I had, PSVR. Naturally when I bought a HTC Vive headset this was one of the first games I bought. I loved the idea of bowling in my own home and was able to get a few strikes, however, I was sad to see that the game was so underdeveloped and with so many bugs but I understood as it was in EARLY ACCESS. I kind of gave up on it as I saw that it wasn't updated in a while but still had a lot of fun unlocking the many bowling alleys the game had to offer. I left it realizing that this game had a lot of potential.
To my surprise, one day I got a notification that the game was updated and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they fixed a lot of issues this game had and added a bunch of stuff. I also had upgraded to an Oculus Rift S so that may have also helped as the room tracking limited where I could play. They made a lot of improvements and I hope they continue to fix some of the little things that hold this game back.
Glows:
-Awesome graphics and lighting, really feel like you are in a bowling alley
-Variety of bowling alleys helps you settle into finding the one that gives you the best feel
-Pretty good physical controls. I'm a casual bowler so I don't do spins and all that stuff but it's rewarding to get a strike or hit spare
Grows:
-Movement makes this near unplayable. Movement is so important in VR. I would suggest to at least add a button to center the screen, if there is one, please tell me as it is frustrating having to get the clunky controls to face forward. I spend more time trying to face forward than actually bowling. Free movement with the ability to move forward, backward and turn would be ideal but at least give us a centering button.
-That damn Ipad in the hand is annoying and kills immersion. I never even use it, not really sure why it's there, I'm guessing to watch replays.... hint, there are no replays in real life bowling so it is unnecessary. Hey Devs, if you must have it, then at least let us put it down.
I bought this game just recently, after Patch 004 release, with a discount on Halloween sale. And I'm not disappointed at all! These levels are very cool! It really gives me immersion. I'm happy with physics. It feels great. I can't say that it's 100% like in the real world, but all 80% for sure. I can't call myself a good bowling player in real life and it's hard for me to launch the ball along the curve. But in this game, it's much easier for me! It really makes me fun!
One thing I would like to request is to add AI or multiplayer, so you could play with somebody to have more fun!
Well this was a quick in and out for the game, couple of MAJOR problems with this, and until they get it fixed I will have to wait for a better review. 1. No way to adjust your height in game. (beat saber does this perfect.) 2. You have to press the Button and the Stick on the "SAME CONTROLLER" to move your orientation, highly impracticle... it would be nice if I could hold the B button on my left and move the stick on the right.... but nope has to be same controller to move your orientation (why????)
Nope. Had potential. Great graphics, plenty of options, but the dev is moving slowly and the physics and lack of multiplayer ruin this game. I used to bowl (near pro level tournaments) and can't stand the fact that I can throw the ball down the lane overhand and get better results than actually trying. There's a better option now. I will update this if things change.
No WMR support yet, so you get a weird double vision thing happening. Once that is added I will TOTALLY buy this game and update my review... That said, it looks really well designed, lots of different environments, and one of those games that you can keep coming back and playing. Keep up the good work, devs!
This isn’t what I expected. The game play is ok... and the graphics are not as good as I’d have expected. I do enjoy bowling and was looking forward to it. The teleport system isn’t the best and I don’t think the gameplay is accurate. If it was cheaper I’d say yep def buy it but for the price as it stands I don’t think it’s a must have game.
The game itself looks very good. It's still not perfect, but I see great potential. Especially with multiplayer (when it will be released) and some polishing afterwards. But even now during Early Access this game worth its money.
More details:
* Graphics part is excelent! I unlocked most of the alleys and they are amazing. Every club is absolutely different. This is really cool for VR arcade game. Most of the other VR arcades have just one or at least a few locations. This game has a lot!
* Physics - can't say anything bad about this part too. I really like how it feels. Seems very natural. I tried to throw a hook several times and it works. But seems like all the balls have the same weight atm and it's not clear what weight it is. Please add weight number signs and make different weights. I wanna feel the difference.
* Career mode - please add leaderboards or just stats page. I want to see my score and rewards somewhere to check my progress.
* Challenges mode - I still can't finish career to play this mode in alpha access, but can't wait to play it when it will be ready! That gifs from anouncements look awesome!
* Settings - please increase max allowed resolution scale. 150 is not enough. 200 would be ok!
Devs, I hope to see new updates soon! Keep rolling!
First, some background. I'm not a pro bowler, but I have bowled on and off for years. In real life, my average is about 175, and gutter balls are a rarity. I know the real game pretty well.
I want this game to be great. I would love to see a bowling game with a high level of visuals, but which also can make me feel like I'm really at the alley bowling. While it has the former, it currently isn't doing so well with the latter. I was really excited to hear that ball hook had been implemented, only to find that the oil which makes it useful had not. The result is a ball which sticks to the lane and careens into the gutter with the slightest off center throw. Then there is a strange release trajectory, which seems to apply a higher than reasonable gravity to the ball, presumably to keep it from being airborn half way down the lane. I do try to play it on occasion, to see if I can get some sort of repeatability from the game, but it feels like pure luck when I am actually able to get the ball down the lane where I expect it to go.
At times, it feels like a game which is being attempted by a group of talented graphics designers, rather than a solid mix of artists and coders.
The only reason I am giving this a positive review is because the visuals and variety are great and I want this game to grow and succeed. But given the rate of developement, folks should probably view the purchase as a crowd-funded project, which may or may not actually pan out.
This game has its issues, but it is on the right track. This is my second review of this game. “the first review I will post at the end as to reflect the problems I have with the current build.” but let me tell you why I am changing my review to a positive one, and its all about the DEVS!
After I posted my first review the devs contacted me, and my first thought was “here we go”. But no, I got the feel that the developers behind this game really care, not only about us as gamers, but about their product and about the experience it gives. I was given a vague but good road map into the future updates that are being worked on, and how they address the issues that I raised. There where no excuses, just solutions. That's worth supporting! So you get a thumbs from me, for now. =P
Old Review
I have to say it looks good, but that's about it. The static room is really hard to move around in, and if you don't have a large play area forget about it. Now the actual game play is to sensitive and janky.
When will devs figure out that you can't put realistic physics in a VR game. For example you don't have a real bowling ball in your hand so you don't have the 10-15 or so lbs that guides your swing. This needs to be addressed! This could be a great game!
No ability to change the orientation of the room. "Oil" physics on the lane are non existant and as a result it makes it pointless to attempt any curve on the ball. It looks pretty I suppose but unless you enjoy taking one step and throwing a straight ball, not realistic at all. As it stands, I can't recommend this, especially for the price.
Edit - Forgot to mention the permanently glued to your hand tablet. Most bowlers like to start the run approach by placing 2 hands on the ball, so this is not great....
Edit Edit - VR Chat has a bowling room that provides a very similar experience to this, without a lot of the flaws and with multiplayer (for better or worse)..... for free. Just sayin.......
I bought this game in August 2017 and since then, the game has evolved very much.
I want to pay special attention to physics. In general, I liked it in the previous versions, but with the latest update the physics in the game has become very realistic. I can even bowl a hook now! It's a very cool feeling.
As cons I would mention that multiplayer mode is still in development, but devs says that it's almost done and will be released soon. I can't wait to spend more time playing this game with my friends.
P.S. My favorite level is Fairway!
The game itself looks great. In saying this, the game play removes the immersion that the environment is creating. I will play again once another update comes through. Until then, Here are some issues/Suggestions.
My experience is related through RIFT gameplay...
-Ball Spin still does not simulate a true hook release
-Though I get the concept of the off hand pinned tablet, it has to go. The off hand should still be in the game, however it should remain a hand. I would also add some sort of collision property to it as in most cases the starting position for a bowler has both hands involved in some fashion. The 2 hand hook is also becoming very popular and this would allow possible addition for this in the future.
* Replace the tablet with an overhead score screen. Stikes and spares should also include various cycled animations. This could also then show the remaining pins as the tablet does currently.
-Teleportation is bad. There needs to be a way to set forward view as well as a way to quickly return to that view.
-The ball physics when entering the gutter need fixed as the motion appears to stop and reset its position if you throw a gutter ball.
I bowl regularly in real life, and would love for this game to become something Awesome. I realize the game is early access and so I am not complaining in any way. I just do not find it to be immersive at this time due to mainly the above issues. Again the game looks great, but to be a winner, it has to feel great as well.
I have to thumbs down the game at this time. I tried to leave this option out, but it is making me select 1 or the other. I will change my review later if it becomes applicable to do so.
I really really wish I could sit down with the devs of this game and help them understand the ins and outs of bowling. As the game stands right now I would not call it real bowling. The game feels really good and looks really good however as of right now that is all it has. The cons of this games are
-The physics of "hooking" the ball are completely off. A bowling ball does not hook as soon as it hits the lane as this game portrays, instead the ball hits the lane and slides beacuase there is oil on the lane which this games calls "reflection" in the graphics settings. Oil on the lane is very important to the sport of bowling.
-This just might be me but the teleport function feels a litte wonky and seems to get me all turned around even when i try to make it face a certain way.
Other than that this game is fun to me and since I love the sport of bowling so much I really want to see this game improve and become a more realistic bowling game. Hopefully the devs are working hard on this game and are not in it just to make a quick buck. Giving this game a recomendation for the love of bowling however if you are expecting this game to be a bowling simulation then i would stay away.
BUY THIS GAME so they can quit their job as Nuclear Scientists and do this full time. Id loved to see this finished and future games made by these guys
You truly feel as if your in a bowling alley. Game is alot of fun and alot of different achievements and rewards. I haven't bowled in years but this brings back the excitement that I remember when getting a string of strikes or a good game.
(As of 12/23/17) After every update more features and or more realism is added to the game. Not perfect yet.
Practice and technique will improve your scores. Have more time on this game than any other vr game I own.
980ti Oculus
Looks great and has potential to be great. Currently EA here's a few things that would make it better:
- Environments look great, but wish I could teleport around in them.
- Needs a simple view reset (teleport would solve this) hitting my couch on my follow through.
- Annoying tablet is always attached to left hand, need a way to hide.
- Wish I could make a fist, be able to pick up bottles ala Sportsbar.
- Needs in-game SS adjustments
- Music is terrible, doesn't fit its great visual sytle.
- Wish the score was kept on those cool-looking scoreboards in the environment.
- Also tried on Rift but no luck, can't get past first menu. Touch controls feel more natural for bowling.
Lots of great potential here, excited to see it finished.
