I don't know how else to describe it. I am really really obsessed with this game. The name, the theme, the characters, the story, the lore, the music... It touched my heart and I had so much silly fun catching all the Snax. I love Bugsnax! (Bunger Bunger Bunger Bunger)

this game is so fun. even though it says i have 3 hours, i have like over 100 on nintendo. great on all platforms, but i enjoy pc. awesome characters and vibrant colors! amazing storyline and fantastic representation! 10/10

Translation: I really like this game, the character designs are cute, (especially bunger) and I find the character interactions fun and engaging! My only issue with it is the lack of clear direction from a mechanic standpoint. It becomes frustrating when you have to look up a guide on how to catch a snak when a basic tutorial at least should be given in terms of tools.

The less you know about Bugsnax the better. Don't be put off by how it looks for this game is not what it seems.

Bugnax is difficult to describe if you haven't played it. It's utterly bizarre and unlike anything else I've ever played. The game is very self-aware about how strange and unsettling it is and how unlikable the characters are. Everything feels very designed and intentional despite its weirdness. The characters are believable and the story is very compelling and surprisingly mature which all feels like part of the overall joke, that a game that looks as ridiculous as Bugsnax could actually have anything interesting to say to the player.

Very fun game, cute but with serious undertones too. Reccomend playing it and doing the main and sidequests, would not reccomend trying to get all of the achievements, the furniture one and the hat one are very tedious.

Super disappointed that I didn't vibe with what I played of this game (read: barely any). The gameplay seems really enjoyable, actually, and the eponymous bugsnax are very cute.... visually, at least. Maybe I have some special kind of brain damage, but I cannot stand the sounds that these little freaks make. You know how Pikachu makes cute sounds that give the character it's name? More specifically, you know how PIkachu makes cute sounds that sound like the creature, Pikachu, is making those sounds? Bugsnax (the creatures, and the game) do something similar. For example, Bunger (a hamburger-ish creature) constantly says "bunger bunger bunger bunger", Fryder (a french fry critter) says "fryder fryder fryder", etc. Unfortunately, every time any of the bugs made a sound, the only thing I could think was "this sounds like a person in a recording booth", and never "this sounds like a Bunger". It's just extremely grating. Straight up, the sounds these bugs make are my thirteenth reason.

Otherwise this game is probably pretty fun. The characters are also very annoying, so ya know.

Amazing game with a 10/10 story, all of the characters are super interesting and the game play never really gets old, overall it's an amazing game.

This is a good ass game. It's fun, it's silly, it's chill. Honestly some of the most realistic character writing I've ever seen in a game, and it's about muppets eating sentient burger boars. Buy it.

This is an AMAZING GAME! This was the most fun for my kid. Great introduction to mouse and keyboard controls. As well as the 'catch 'em all' game style.

Truly a fun game, would recommend if you like collectathons. The cartoonish style of the game is adorable, and lulls you into a sense of security while there are unnerving events happening all around you.

Very cool game that has everything: good graphics, nice gameplay, solid writing, fine music and the story works too! Got 100 % achievements in one run and it was a fun ride.

Oddly charming and runs flawlessly on the steam deck. The game never got dull even though I finished it all, excluding the dlc, in one 20+ hour sitting (only shows ~10 hours on steam because I finished it offline on the go)

Great game. About 20-26 to 100% this game. Plays great on steam deck. Was not expecting the mature themes and was expecting more horror. The side quests were a bit repetitive and tedious but the main plot was amazing. And I swear, hands down, they made these bugsnax say their name in the most ridiculous and annoying way to make fun of how pokemon say their names. I refuse to believe otherwise.

Fun game. It has a lot of character and the grumpuses are personable and have personalities. Has a dark overarching theme... You'll have to see...

This game means a lot to me. I'll be honest and say I knew the twist before I got the game. I watched all of it played by RTgame at some point maybe a year before I bought it. I didn't really remember the story except for the ending, so I bought it because it seemed like a fun ride to exprience first hand. And... Wow... Yea. Throughout the main campaign, dlc, and post game the themes about mental illness, queerness, and life at large resonated with me greatly. Much like the show BoJack Horseman, you come in expecting a kind of funny comedy with Will Arnett playing a silly horse guy, but then all the the character archetypes are deconstructed to their logical...extreme? Not really, more like their logical realisticness. It gets you invested in this world, it's lore, characters, and story. To be unapologetic about who I am for a second, this game is very furry. It's cute, fluffy, and a lil absurd. But it's real. It's the most human sapient experience, but it's cute. It's not human, it's grumpus, which allows you to really let your guard down. You don't expect to be experiencing "high art" and that silliness becomes a part of the art. In conclusion: I could make an hour long video essay about this game where I actually sound coherent. Its 7AM and I got woken up, but with this game on my mind, I had to get these thoughts out somewhere. I want to kiss Filbo, I want to hug Chandlo, I want to be close friends with Snorpy, I want to encourage Shelda to be herself, and I want to avoid Beffica. I know that would make her worse, but she's toxic man. I'm sorry, I had a friend who was similarly complicated, but I can't handle someone telling me they're gonna be horribly depressed if I leave them because they're a piece of shit.

whats not to love about this game it's adorable there is always something to do my self and my children love this game we can't get enough of the story line and the charaters they are amazing i recommend this game to anyone

This game is great, everything from the mechanics to the sound design and music and especially the characters and story!
Each character is unique and has there own story arc making them feel alive.

This one is truly a "treat" 10/10

A bit deflated by the twist being ruined over time. Still sharply written and well voiced. A bit tedious at times but still a very solid experience with appropriate music and good controls. Goofy, fun, and horrible. Check it out.

I learned about this game through YT ranking of Sony Pictures Animated Movies. AND OH BOY IT'S FUN.
It's a funky game with all sorts of food critters and a cast of whacky but lovable characters. Mechanics of catching bugs are plenty of fun and give you quite some freedom of action. Despite their whackiness, characters are suprisingly polished, each with their own set of issues and goals, was pretty fun to do their quests and help them through their problems. Also in general, game has some darker themes than I expected and I am all for it. Also game is very funny, had plenty of laughs, especially with Chandlo. I say if you like collecting stuff, like puzzles and love an unsettling adventure among colourful critters - jump in!
Also on side note- DLC is great too. The jar mechanics is pretty fun and all them new food creatures are really neat. Also it focuses on characters which I feel really needed that extra polish to their stories. Also Also, Grumpus Secret Scoiety was such a funky but also kinda cool reveal.
I could blabber on adn on about this, but I will just cut it short here, go and enjoy the game yourself I say.

This game has so much content and it's so incredibly fun to play. I am 9 hours in and still have so much to do. Also the writing and the characters are on point.

This was one of those games that made me sad once it was over. I loved the characters, the story, the gameplay, and exploring the different areas. I got to know all the little critters that live on the island with me and help them with their personal problems. The bugsnax themselves have interesting and cute designs. Really hoping for a sequel!

Bugsnax is one of my favourite games of all time, that I know for a fact. The game is just so fun, colourful, and heavy hitting when it needs to be. Every bugsnack having their own way of collecting them and most being creative makes you feel so happy when you see and catch new creatures. I love collecting and this game scratches that itch perfectly and with its charm I beg anyone to play bugsnax at least once and preferably blind as the game's surprises are truely shocking. I can't begin to describe how much I adore this game and any playthrough after the first still feels fun and charming (i've played through the game 3 times on ps, xbox, and pc). Thank you bugsnax for being the game you are and thank you devs for creating it.

unlike many, I expected the horror elements coming in
I was just not expecting the horror to be the all consuming existential crises of these muppet like beings

It's a very fun game with cool bug designs and surprisingly non-monotonous gameplay. My only complaint is that [i] some [i] of the bugs are very annoying and unfun to catch (fuck you bobsicle, you frigid ass bitch) and I wish we just got a tiny bit more out of the character's stories (which is not to say they're bad, I just really like them and wish this game had the kind of budget behind it to let us get every bit out of them)

It's not really as scary as people on the internet make it out to be, but it doesn't try to make itself out to be a horror game. The characters are very well written and the dialogue can be sincere, sober, and comedic as needed. Despite being an overall cute game, it is able to handle a of of mature topics better than other supposedly "mature" games.

Fun simple game with very well writen characters, happy to see a game studio making a passion projet with a simple permise so fun, of only other games could learn...

Such an outstanding game. So well made, charming, unique, and interesting. The use of the different game mechanics to catch the different snax is so well thought out, with many requiring a combination of tools, the environment, or even other snax in order to get. The characters are all super charming and beautifully voiced, each having their own unique personality and story. The map is fun to explore, with lots of environmental storytelling going on. And the story is so damn good. This is all around a really great game that was a joy to play through.

Super weird game but in a really good way... The game has a dark undertone but colorful cartoon Muppet types are all around you smiling so everything must be normal and not really weird right? Tricking a "vegan" to eat their pets while they sleepwalk was a little unhinged but that's what makes this game so engaging. You walk a line of colorful and fun but creepy and weird... It was a really fun and overall interesting play!

Honestly no.

You can get through the story quite quickly and the twist isn't really anything worthwhile. The core gameplay loop is pretty tedious and unfun to me because the controls feel very clunky. I think I would have enjoyed a similiar game that had tighter controls and better ways to catch the bugs way more.

Bunger Bunger Bunger! If your depressed this game is for you <3 genuinely always gives me mass amounts of serotonin when i play, a little less when they actually eat the bugsnax but i can let it slide...... Anyway the game is amazing and the designs of all the bugsnax never fail to amaze me.

Bugsnax is weird, silly yet terrifying game. In this game you catch a lil cute food creatures called Bugsnax and feed them to your friends to turn them into terrifying abominations. The second part is the relationships between your friends grumpuses. The characters are well written.
For the first half of the game, I wasn’t too invested in the story, but later on as I came up with my own theories about what is happening on the island, the story got more interesting. The free dlc side story was a lot of fun too. The whole game gives me old school vibes, I feel like game like this could have easily existed on the gamecube or wii. A really weird fever dreams hidden gem game, yk what I mean. It fits the era perfectly.
Catching Bugsnax is fun, figuring out how to catch some can be a fun puzzle, but catching some others might feel a bit clunky.
Exploration is a lot of fun, the map, characters and bugsnax are all well designed.
One negative is the game might feel a bit fetch-questy, especially the mail quests that are optional (and you don’t need to complete all of them for 100%)

I went into this game not expecting much. My girlfriend mentioned it, I got it on sale for her to play, but apparently she'd already played it. She also said it was a horror game, which kept me from refunding it. Let me just say, this game is 100 percent worth playing. It starts off a little cringe, the characters all suck in their own ways, whether they are annoying or just irritating, but the game goes out of its way to humanize them all. It gives them all traits and backstories that explain these poor behaviors, and you can help them all better themselves to become better people. Like one character is obsessed with getting bigger and stronger, but never seems to be able to, and you have to help him learn to accept himself and improve other aspects of his life. One other case is a washed out pop singer who had a one hit wonder and never made it big again, and you have to help her learn how to stop living in the past and move on. The game appeared to be nothing more than telling a message about how the worst people can still be fixed, with one character who seems a little crazier than the rest less than subtly hinting at a major plot twist in the end. I didn't believe that character, she genuinely seemed like a loony, so when the plot twist she was warning about came it caught me so off guard and fully explained the "horror" aspect of the game. You're basically conditioned by the game not to pay attention to the very obvious plot twist that's building up, every chance the game gets it would downplay it. Someone asks something like, "Where do the bugsnax come from?" and someone else basically says "It's just a game it doesn't need an explanation." Stuff like that is said so often that you actually start to think its true, until the truth thats being teased right under your nose is exposed and the whole game changes. You play the game the first time thinking it's just a cute creature collector, and the second playthrough actually feels eerie, knowing exactly what the bugsnax are and all. I've said too much though, the Grumpinati is listening, you'll have to play the game for yourself to learn more.
